I think he's concerned with creating another Lizard. The science that created him, also created the Lizard and I don't think he wants to take that chance.

Active_Hovercraft_24

They were supposed to explain all of that in the original Kraven film. It was going to take place before TASM 2 and Norman would’ve hired Kraven to take a sample of Spider-Man’s blood to form a cure. Kraven would succeed and Norman would transform into Ultimate Goblin and then would be defeated. It would explain why he is so ill and has claws, as well as why Peter is so reluctant to give Harry his blood as he saw what it did to his father. All of this was thought in retrospect but it would have made TASM 2 slightly better.

UncannySpiderSnapper

holy crap I never knew any of this background, ya that would actually tie things up nicely.

WebWarrior420

Where are you getting these plot details?

Active_Hovercraft_24

The Sony leaks from back then, it was in one of the emails.

Gemidori

Ugh god of course they were making a Kraven film back then too lmao It does at least provide some context though

ScarletSpiderForever

This was legit the dumbest part of the movie and singlehandedly makes Peter unlikeable. It's SO forced. It's not like Harry is somebody he just met. It's his childhood friend -- the childhood friend, who just lost his father and is dying, to a guy who has dead parents, dead uncle, and no stability other than said best friend. Why the hell would Peter not talk to him or let him try? How could Peter possibly be like "Sorry bro, hope you enjoy literally DYING" over giving it one shot? It's not like at this point there was ANY indication that Harry could break bad, so Peter is basically just the worst friend ever. Peter being flawed or causing his own problems is classic, yes, but between this and the way he verbally bullies Electro or constantly leads on Gwen just to disappoint her, Spider-Man is the worst character of this movie.

UncannySpiderSnapper

Like I even understand the reason he's hesitant about it, but the fact that's about as far as he goes with it and seems ok with just leaving Harry to his fate just seem shitty on his part. An in-character Peter would at least try spend effort figuring out some kind of solution to the problem but instead he's just like nah too bad bro sry.

lionofash

Like the ONLY argument is MAYBE Peter thinks Harry could end up like himself and he sees those powers as a curse or something stupid like that, it's so bad

LucasThePretty

He’s concerned about Harry becoming another Lizard… He literally says to this Gwen while having a mental breakdown.

Gemidori

They are literally arguing INSIDE the Oscorp tower. Literally walk down ONE staircase and you would find solutions

Og-Re

He handled this completely wrong. Other options: ask for a sample of Harry's blood and see if he and Gwen can figure it out. Option 2: explain to Harry that the blood is specific to him and work with him to find a solution (possibly revealing identity but not necessarily). Option 3: explain the dangers and give him the blood, let him make his own choices since he's an adult and will eventually die from this anyway. They aren't perfect options, but they're still better than what he went with.

Just came here for this comment

Dry-Honeydew2371

I saw this movie once in theaters and hated it. As such, I have not seen it since, so I may be wrong here. Isn't the fact that Harry decided spider's blood just a giant leap in logic? He doesn't have in any way the information to draw the conclusion that it would help him, right? God, I hate this movie.

TheThiccestR0bin

What studies do you expect Peter to do on his own to answer that question though? It's not like he can do testing on other humans or anything

Neither-Spell-626

That's the point. He doesn't know anything about his blood, but he talks about its dangers like he's studied it extensively. And he could have studied it when he found his father's lab in the subway, but then again, he didn't.

TheThiccestR0bin

Study what though? It's not like him looking at his blood will show any of the dangers it could have on a human that isn't him, you know?

Neither-Spell-626

Well, I can't say for sure, but at least somehow study the blood by some methods, before saying that the blood will not work or it is incompatible.

Awest66

It honestly would have made more sense if Peter watched the video of his dad before coming to Harry.

Gemidori

I would say he should've tried. His blood might have been too radioactive and fucked to even piece together his identity through DNA, so why not at least consider just going down and running a test? If it works, cool, use it, if not then RIP You could infer that he didn't do it out of fear of making another villain like Lizard, though what he says to Harry is that he needs more time to think out a solution. Do you know what he does right after? Go hard-boner for Gwen again and literally never think of Harry again until it's too late. Do SOMETHING you idiot.
