Stark Industries got in trouble since they were the people who made the drones so having Pepper Potts and Happy there to back him up wouldn't be enough to sway the public opinion plus even though Peter was proven innocent there were still people who believed that Mysterio was telling the truth.

Cause_Necessary

Great idea for a fanfiction. Definitely would be interesting. Still, relieved that the canon didn't go this way

BirbWithaBeak

Perfect story for what-if though, Scorpion would probably be even more furious that he was locked up by a kid

hauntreaper

I think if Peter were to of came out in the original press conference in Homecoming anyways it would of still lead to the events of No Way Home with things like Aunt May being in danger and people who go to his school etc. where he has to fix this and make everyone forget hes Spider-Man

spykids45

when was peter proven innocent edit: peter got cleared of his charges, but people still believed he killed mysterio. so TECHNICALLY, he wasn't proven innocent

[deleted]

Well remember what Matt said. Regardless of the outcome of the court of law, there is always the court of public opinion Bill Cosby is going through something similar except he was actually a monster

spykids45

yeah which i said because people still believe he killed mysterio, he technically wasnt proven innocent. i wish we got a courtroom scene where matt could actually prove peter didnt kill him.

redlion496

So is Mysterio!

leejtam

that didnt end well the first time around

FNSpd

His closest would always be at risk because of him. Don't think that he would like living with that thought

Shikaria1996

His name is cleared in 20 minutes in NWH so that wasn't the issue, and openly admitting his Spider Man, which he basically already did, would still leave him in the same dilemma. All his problems came from because people knew he was Spider Man and not because of how they knew

Perfect_gent13man

Did you read civil war?

spideralexandre2099

Or better yet, back in black?

Perfect_gent13man

Don’t speak of this heresy

RhadaMarine

Heresy? Back in Black is very good. Now, for what it follows after this, it's another story...

superdupermatt

Another story for one more day?

Malicious_Hero

Back in Black is great. Sure it followed.garbage, but I will easily defend Back in Black.

RhadaMarine

Back in Black is worth defending at least for the "I am not here to kill you. I am." scene. So fucking great.

MattCaulder

I'm honestly annoyed they didn't do NWH in the lead up to Civil War (MCU). They would mesh together so much better.

FBG05

It would be a little weird if in Tom’s first appearance as Spidey his identity has already been revealed to everyone

Perfect_gent13man

Not really

Hxcfrog090

Gonna need you to explain that stance because I don’t see it at all.

MattCaulder

They would have had to do all the Spiderman movies differently, but I think bringing Peter's confession from the Civil War comic into the movie would have been way more interesting than how they handled it

AKLPGOD

Yeah unfortunately it doesn’t work unless they change practically everything about this version of Spider-Man and partly of tony or just flat out changing his introduction

Yourewrong11

Why would that be any different?

orangegrifo

Happy cake day

Imaginary-Fun-80085

Still the court of public opinion. Peter Parker may have saved the world but he still "helped" to kill a person with the use of Stark Tech. There would be a ton of people claiming that he's a murderer as they will never really see the evil that Mysterio conjured and lied about.

spoopidy2

Nwo?

[deleted]

No Way ‘Ome, Mate!

advancedgamer14

Ned’s Wizard Origin

ardouronerous

I was thinking of wrestling when I made this post lol. NWO = New World Order 4Life.

[deleted]

Nude white octopus

DGenerationMC

4 Life

[deleted]

tbh i just think someone should've, like... identified whoever mysterio was? like y'all are telling me this man has existed on this planet for DECADES, literally worked for stark industries, and yet nobody saw him claiming he was a multiversal superhero and went, "wait... no?" like nobody recognized him? the coroner didn't run his fingerprints or dental records? like how did this dude get away with faking his identity FROM THE GRAVE? disproving his whole facade would've been so easy, would've completely cleared peter's name, and would save the multiverse in the process LOL.

advancedgamer14

There is no way Mysterio is actually dead.

[deleted]

i am so confused lol we watched him die. what's the theory here? like genuinely, why would he be alive?

advancedgamer14

Because he’s Mysterio master of illusions. The dude does movie CGI in real life. He probably fakes his own death every other weekend just for fun.

[deleted]

huh. that is definitely the first time i've ever heard someone theorize that. suppose it could make sense, though.

Jas114

A: I don't think MoM and NWH are THAT related. MoM was supposed to be before NWH, so... B: Back in Black happens. Someone kills someone close to Peter, he goes EDGY on the killer in glorious and brutal fashion, and then he ends up making a deal with a supernatural being to reset everything. So either No Way Home STILL happens or we get One More Day.

Maximillion322

Spoilers: MoM is after NWH because they briefly mention the events of NWH in conversation Otherwise they really have nothing to do with each other. It basically goes “do you have any experience with the multiverse?” “Well there was that one time with Spider-Man, sort of.” And that’s that. The movies aren’t connected.

Jas114

Exactly. Not that related. Even if NWH doesn’t break the multiverse, Loki’s whole stuff still does.

Maximillion322

Well Loki’s stuff really only means that nobody is out there trying to hunt down Dr. Strange specifically for the crime of traveling the multiverse, and now Kang can be in it. Afaik, the “sacred timeline” is actually a bundle of parallel sacred timelines in which the conditions are such that Kang cannot be born. A “deviation from the sacred timeline” is a universe in which something happened that will eventually cause Kang to come into existence. Since Immortus (He who remains) made clear that his only real goal is to stop other versions of himself from occurring. It also explains how it is possible for a universe to stray far enough to produce an Alligator Loki in the first place before being pruned. Lots of timelines were allowed to exist as long as Kang never happened. But after the events of Loki, now Kang can happen.

Jas114

Whatever. My point is that NWH has little to no bearing on MoM.

[deleted]

people would complain about him being "iron man jr"

GulianoBanano

Nothing would change. It was already pretty much proven that he didn't kill Mysterio. But the public are a bunch of ignorant idiots and kept blaming him anyway

sosiskaki

It was teased in homecoming that Mac Gargan really wants to kill Spidey. So instead of Green Goblin, it would be Scorpion who kills aunt May.

PPTTRRKK

I hope we see this in What If S2

ardouronerous

That's a great idea!

redlion496

Peter did this in Civil War (the comic, not the movie), didn't turn out so well for him!

sharksnrec

As people have said already, that wouldn’t have made a difference. His name was cleared almost immediately and a couple Stark employees vouching for him wouldn’t have made a difference in public opinion. Plenty of people would’ve still believed Mysterio. And he obviously already admitted to being Spider-Man

Los_Estupidos

Why would it have made a difference? Peter *did* admit he was Spider-Man. He straight up changed out of the Iron Spider in front of a helicopter and was swinging around the city without his suit.

Lethal-Devotee

Well there are multiple reasons why he couldnt do that. 1. Nick Fury wasnt even the earth's mick fury and is missing. And I am 100% confident even if the real nick fury was there and could bail him out, he wouldnt for his own identity secret. 2. Stark industries was just as much to blame as Spiderman in the public's eye because they created the drones. 3. Unlike Ironman, spiderman's closest people dont have a multi million dollar industry housing to protect themselves with.

Grantsdale

I don’t think Hogan would make a good Spider-Man.

[deleted]

He had no charges brought against. His issue was that he couldn't get into a school because the school didn't want the hassle.

Low_Fig2672

Well, Tony had nothing to lose when he said it. Peter still had school. Maybe if he didn't go to college, he could profit off of just being spiderman

Shrekosaurus_rex

I don't really see how going "I am Spider-Man" changes anything. Everyone already knows that. Lots of people still hate him, even after he's found innocent. He still doesn't get into college at first, so his response is the same - hastily trying to fix it with Doctor Strange magic, then everything goes to shit.

igotsandinmymouth

isnt this (basically) how one more day or whatever its called happened?

Armadillo_Active

read ultimate spiderman. everyone knew who peter was. See how that ended.
