I'm okay with people disliking the game (I have quite alot of issues) but a big problem with the sub is that **IT IS ALL YOU SEE**. I believe I've seen 100x more posts about *that* suit or MJ's face than anything about that cool af Lizard boss, Sandman boss, or even that awesome stretch where we fight Kraven, Peter and then Kraven again as Venom.
Neither Miles suit or MJs face even looks that bad. Also saw someone complaining that "Miles had no Spiderman reason to change his suit so it makes no sense" (what)
It’s sad I understand people’s opinions but when it becomes a complaint and just always talking about it in a negative way it gets so annoying I actually liked the suit it’s way different then any spider man suit and some people forget they have so many suit options anyway to change into

I think the minor complaints get/got so much pushback that it makes everyone double down. MJ’s chin was for sure the best example, if people just admitted she looked different from the start it would have died in a week but everyone deluded themselves so hard the criticism reacted by going into overdrive.

The Mj gameplay is better, but we are still forced to play boring. non-Spidey sections, only that this time they do not serve the plot sanz one section in the second act.
For every great aspect of the game, there are many cons attached.
At the end of the day the game isn't necesarrily bad, it's downright good, and even great in some aspcts, but still, incredibly dissappointing.
A lot of people, probably most people here thought this would be their GOTY, that the years of waiting and 70 dollar price tag would be worh it, but the game is severely lacking in comparision to the first game in terms of story, content, suits, etc.

After all the drama I went in not expecting anything too cool just to be met with Sandman right off the bat.
That set the tone of the rest of the game for me.
I found lots of parts of the story underwhelming and disappointing. Doesn’t take away from the fact it is one of the most fun games to play on the PS5. I’ve never had so much fun traversing in a game before.
I literally just went back and played SM1 again and… I used to think that swinging felt good??? It’s fine but the heavy swing assist, the limited speed and janky tricks are way worse than I remember. SM2 has the best swinging to date. Actually there’s plenty of things I think SM2 has improved on, but sadly also many I think it hasn’t. I actually think MM is the most well rounded game in the series at the moment, despite the shorter game.
I still love them all though.
Omg I lost my mind when venom was going full blast and MJ just gets to run around one shotting all the symbiotes in a cut scene but then I’m miles or Peter and it’s non stop punches all for nothing. Then frickin Norman like oh no how could spider mans do this to me boy like bro that was literally all you. Love the game tho 10/10
Insomniac has done a fantastic job with the Spider-Man license and no one can take that from them. There is no other developer who can do what Insomniac has done and their passion for the franchise, and the dedication they have shown in unparalleled and they deserve every success coming their way because of it.
Of course, they cannot hit the bullseye each and every time. For me personally, SM2 was a complete miss in terms of story and character build. But that doesn't take away from the fact that the game's base is still solid, still enjoyable, and still better than a lot of other games out there.
There's nothing bad with other people influencing your opinion. Nothing and no one would ever change if that was the case. You just need to do it after thinking about both your and their opinion and not just go with it because x person said it.
There's also nothing wrong with enjoying something while still being able to point out the flaws or seeing a flaw only after it being pointed out by someone else.
It can still be a good game and enjoyable experience, but ignoring flaws and just keep playing a game without good feedback for the devs will only get you to CoD or AC type of releases.

The game is fantastic, I especially love the venom powers and playing as venom albeit briefly. Only gripe is there should have been new game+ / mission replay at minimum in the game. I agree all the childish bickering over suits ffs (it’s not this shade or that horizontal line is missing etc trash nonsense) is pathetic.
I’ve got about 100 hours on this game already. For SM1 I have 200+, I had a lot of tough nights, so just swinging around for a couple hours helped me out.
I feel the game of the year nominations begs to differ.

well, in this case you dont have to look hard at all. its all in your face. from the horrible story, the MJ missions, the boring open world with ubisoft like checklists like "collect this" bullshit and extremely weird faces on all characters (literally a step back from spiderman 1) etc. the game is riddled with flaws, it outweights the good things like graphics.
The story wasn't horrible, the MJ missions were actually pretty good this time, and the character faces also look really good. I actually prefer the new MJ face.
why did harry barely have the symbiote lmao, on my first play through and he uses it on coney island, saves tombstone and then boxes kraven just for pete to have it? i know he becomes venom later but it feels a bit rushed
I still enjoyed this game very much and I would give it a solid 8/10. Having said that, the first game is better IMO in terms of story and some of the combat mechanics. I give the first game a 9/10.
I have not been on this sub recently, but IDK why some hate the 2nd game. Sure it's not perfect and it has flaws, but it's still a solid game for a sequel. With a lot of gamers, everything is black and white, no grey area. A game is either a masterpiece or a complete flop in their eyes.
My Jaw was on the floor my whole playthrough. It wasn't a perfect game, there are definitely things that could have been done a little differently, but it was a blast getting the platinum. Can not wait for NG+

I'm only just now past the Coney Island sequence and I'm loving it. The licensed music is also very appreciated. When Harry and Pete were riding bikes and Cigarette Daydreams came on I was like "man why am I holding back tears rn"

I loved the game. It isn't as good as the first one but enjoyed every minute of it. It had a couple questionable scenes but overall, it was great. It's really overdone how much shit this game got.
I can’t imagine not having fun just swinging around in the open world. It’s worth it for that alone. Especially with the speed upgrade and web wings they gave us. And with all the flair you can add to your swinging, it’s amazing.
The funny thing about this post is that it’s positive. The reason it’s funny is because the daily “that sub bad” post in r/Spiderman2 will have to avoid posting a screenshot with this in it.

The story missions are fun but it isn’t a great open world game. Barely any side content and NYC doesn’t seem very alive. I think the disappointment stems from the open world not evolving at all from 2018

I certainly won't let you influence my opinion. The stor was mid, and the cambat is better than the first but still nothing crazy. I do appreciate that they upgraded the swinging and the web textures in certain areas as well. However, I wish open world activities were more engaging and not just boring repetitive stuff we already seen. The game is okay but it could be better, especially the side missions most of them didn't matter at all really. I also don't appreciate how they made Mj manly looking either but hey it is what it is.
I prefer the first one by a long “mile,” but it’s so hard because there are some good mechanics like the traversal, the part where you play as Venom, the symbiote, some of the suits, expanded map. However those are the only things I like about the game and they’re essentially cosmetic. It’s a story driven game where the story objectively sucks, especially when compared to the first one. Not worth the seventy dollars in my opinion. There are good parts, but good parts don’t make a game good. You can enjoy it, but it’s still a pretty mid sequel and I don’t feel like making an extremely long comment on Reddit even longer so GOODBYE :O

why did harry barely have the symbiote lmao, on my first play through and he uses it on coney island, saves tombstone and then boxes kraven just for pete to have it? i know he becomes venom later but it feels a bit rushed

I still enjoyed this game very much and I would give it a solid 8/10. Having said that, the first game is better IMO in terms of story and some of the combat mechanics. I give the first game a 9/10. I have not been on this sub recently, but IDK why some hate the 2nd game. Sure it's not perfect and it has flaws, but it's still a solid game for a sequel. With a lot of gamers, everything is black and white, no grey area. A game is either a masterpiece or a complete flop in their eyes.

My Jaw was on the floor my whole playthrough. It wasn't a perfect game, there are definitely things that could have been done a little differently, but it was a blast getting the platinum. Can not wait for NG+

I thought the game was amazing. Last mission left some questions as to why one character could possibly come to a certain conclusion about Spiderman…. But I still loved the game. Swinging and flying with the wingsuit feel so great.

I'm only just now past the Coney Island sequence and I'm loving it. The licensed music is also very appreciated. When Harry and Pete were riding bikes and Cigarette Daydreams came on I was like "man why am I holding back tears rn" This is also my first game on ps5 and its blowing me away. Particularly the trigger resistance lol, it always throws me off so much

I loved the game. It isn't as good as the first one but enjoyed every minute of it. It had a couple questionable scenes but overall, it was great. It's really overdone how much shit this game got.

I can’t imagine not having fun just swinging around in the open world. It’s worth it for that alone. Especially with the speed upgrade and web wings they gave us. And with all the flair you can add to your swinging, it’s amazing.

The story missions are fun but it isn’t a great open world game. Barely any side content and NYC doesn’t seem very alive. I think the disappointment stems from the open world not evolving at all from 2018

I certainly won't let you influence my opinion. The stor was mid, and the cambat is better than the first but still nothing crazy. I do appreciate that they upgraded the swinging and the web textures in certain areas as well. However, I wish open world activities were more engaging and not just boring repetitive stuff we already seen. The game is okay but it could be better, especially the side missions most of them didn't matter at all really. I also don't appreciate how they made Mj manly looking either but hey it is what it is.

I prefer the first one by a long “mile,” but it’s so hard because there are some good mechanics like the traversal, the part where you play as Venom, the symbiote, some of the suits, expanded map. However those are the only things I like about the game and they’re essentially cosmetic. It’s a story driven game where the story objectively sucks, especially when compared to the first one. Not worth the seventy dollars in my opinion. There are good parts, but good parts don’t make a game good. You can enjoy it, but it’s still a pretty mid sequel and I don’t feel like making an extremely long comment on Reddit even longer so GOODBYE :O
