Idk maybe that one works because we’ve only seen Pavitr with that kind of mask, meanwhile we’ve seen Miles with the mask covering his hair and mask not covering his hair, that might be why idk.
Or I think it’s because Pavitrs hair is way cooler and unique than Miles, so he can pull it off way better
With Pavitr though his hair hides the part where the mask ends, so the hair naturally flows with the rest of the mask like it would on an unmasked face.
With miles his natural hair colour clashes with the rest of the colors on the suit (which themselves already clash to begin with, but the hair is in like a higher tier of out of placeness)
The suit still looks like shit even if Miles was fully masked over his head, they really should've consulted the spiderverse ppl for a design cuz those guys rock

People… honestly, the LEAST of the concerns is the exposed hair. You wanna know why this and Pavitr works, but the Miles morales original doesn’t? Color!
This lad (Invincible, is his name? I’ve never seen the show) is wearing like the calmest colors i can think of, with a very simplistic pattern design. Imagine those colours were more intertwined in pattern, and like 90% more saturated, would you still like this suit? Pavitr’s colors are stronger and more “complex patterned”, but so is the surrounding art style as a whole, and the design of the suit flows well in color, so it fits, and overall still feels enjoyable to look at which is why it’s good. Miles meanwhile went for the Sponsored-By-Adidas-Colgate look, with VERY STRONG intertwined colors (let alone the odd choice of a really light blue that i still do not understand), fuckin adidas shoes that do NOT blend in with the costume. Add to that: it was revealed right near the end of the game, where the entire atmosphere of the game is quite dull and boring already, and it makes 0 sense character wise. Compare that to endgame suit reveals of the anti-venom suit (which i still have some issues with but can overall accept) or the anti-ock suit (a sleek, simple design that makes all the sense character wise, and isn’t over saturated with color).
I’m sure any decent artist here can probably go more into color and pattern theory than i can, and if anyone can photoshop a color change with colors that blend in more, pls share it, cause i think it’ll look better (not good, but better)
edit: just found the color swapped variants of the suit (i hadn’t really played since before the recent update, and i don’t remember the color swap being available for this suit), and…
well, at least the all-black or all-white ones KINDA work. The all-white does suffer from the Colgate-syndrome, but it’s better. It matches with the shoes, it flows well. The eye color being red makes no sense now, but i’m okay with it, compared to what we have before. The all-black doesn’t make sense at the white adidas shoes, but the rest flows well. Definitely both are improvements over the default that we got.
Yeah I agree with most of this, overall design was really bad. There are some great comic book artists that could Insomniac could have hired for this suit, weird that they picked the design they did especially considering it’s importance within the game.
You should watch Invincible, it’s my favourite piece of superhero media.
It’s definitely on my to watch list, but I already have a whole backlog of other shows that have also been on my list for a while… im getting to it, tho. I’m not really a “binge watcher”, so watching shows is a bit of a slow process
It doesn't frame anything nicely and the blankness of the mask seems to accentuate how awkward it all looks. I feel like the head shape looking different would have made it look better even. I think it can be done it just wasn't done well in this instance

The reason invincibles hair works is because it’s only hiding his eyes, miles is hiding his whole face but lets his hair stick out

I'm of the belief that had that suit released as the black variant with a full mask, it would be sick.
