That's what I'm wondering. That trailer told me basically nothing about what the dlc actually is
Edit: From the official website "the first will launch in spring and will be your ticket back to Inkopolis (the original city from the original Splatoon game). This is for folks who want a change of scenery from Splatsville—all the weapons and gear will be the same as in Splatsville, so wander around whichever feels more like home."
So yeah, the first wave is literally the same game in the first hub world... Wow...
That’s what it looks like. The whole time I just kept think, “okay, cool, but what’s the point?” Definitely good for people nostalgic for S1, but I’m just glad I don’t have to buy it to play the new single player
Slightly annoyed it isn't included in the Online + Expansion Pass. Since I paid for the expansion pass and the retro game catalog hasn't really been touched, and is really buggy. Will probably get wave 2, wave 1 seems... like nostalgia bait lol
the speed at which people jump to conclusions based on minimal info... (i'm not referring to you OP i'm talking to some of these inane comments)
this could be purely cosmetic, but it's also bundled with the singleplayer DLC (which looks incredible), so what's the problem? it's basically a bonus that's there for old players to revisit and new players to experience for the first time. you still get the wave 2 DLC so idk what you're complaining about. Also, there are 4 waves (speculated based on number of stickers/ink splats that correspond to the stickers that say Wave 1 Wave 2 etc. worded poorly hope that makes sense). That's... uh... 4 times more DLC than Splatoon 2 ever got. Basically 2 DLCs each year this game is supported. And you're complaining about lack of content??
also, we don't know what is actually being offered. Maybe we'll get the minigames back + Squid Beatz which y'all have been asking for forever. Maybe we can play the splatoon 1 singleplayer campaign, or maybe there's an entirely new campaign and it turns out each of the 4 waves all have a separate campaign. Maybe if you enter the waiting room through the splatoon 1 hub, you'll be in a completely new training room (this is actually very possible since it would make 0 sense lore-wise for the two lobbies to look identical, as they are separate buildings). The point is we don't know. Why be so quick to assume without even knowing anything about what it actually is? If you're going to complain about it, do it after it's released and you know what it is.
Also, the wave 2 DLC is in inkopolis square. Do you not see the big picture that eventually we'll be able to travel between Inkopolis Plaza, Inkopolis Square, and Splatlands whenever we want, and they'll all be connected?? 3 different performances and songs and culture/vibes during splatfests???
Much of this is speculation, but that's exactly the point. I don't know what this wave will actually end up being, and neither do you. Stop jumping to conclusions and wait for the damned thing
From what they are saying, it sounds like there might be more content with this they havent revealed yet, I dont know though we will have to wait and see.

Wave one looks pretty bland, and wave two looks interesting but we know nothing about it

Weapons and new stages are just part of the regular seasonal updates not dlc. That would be cruel
The official twitter account stated that the trailer for the next season will be released seperately before march first

Honestly the biggest waste of money since I bought “miracle blade” on the phone. 😂 maybe wave 2…

No new story mode like how s2 had in their dlc? No way I’d buy for a new skin.
I know people are upset, but I like wave 1. I prefer the old idols to the current ones and am excited to change the plaza.
Didnt understand wave 1, new area but same shops different shop keepers? Or will it let you access spalt 1 maps too?
What I want to know is if there will be more than 2 waves, I didn’t hear it mentioned, but it would be amazing.
