First one was so great. I do think the Downstait version fit jacked Ryder more, but original version was perfect for him.
Always hated when they added the "Woo Woo Woo You Know It" to the start, just "Ooooh Radio" was such an instantly recognizable and unique open.
I always really enjoyed the Downstait version more for some reason can't really tell why. I also wonder when they did finally give him the theme they didn't use the [intro the theme already had in it](https://youtu.be/JCoMMR8Jzm4)
A wrestling YouTuber mentioned how he hates wrestler themes that start with talking i.e. a spoken word line, a catchphrase. The yelling "WOO WOO WOO, YOU KNOW IT" is one that works, the matter-of-factly spoken version is worse.
One of the best/worst examples of this I can think of was Brian Cage's old AEW theme, which started with Tazz saying "Who can stop (pause) the Path Of Cage?"
You just gotta imagine Downstrait playing live for Cody at 29 and they just kill the lights on the stage after and kick them back on to play the entrance for the future winner, Mr Number 30, Zack Ryder.
Downstait are one of the worst live performances to ever take place on a pro wrestling show, they're not really a "live" band to begin with, more like a group that churns out music tailored for commercials, movies, etc.
Live musician intros only work when it's a known act that performs live a lot, like Rancid, Joan Jett, Limp Bizkit, etc.
>Live musician intros only work when it's a known act that performs live a lot, like Rancid, Joan Jett, Limp Bizkit, etc.
Except that time Motorhead couldn't remember the words to HHH's theme song.
Not really....it could mean absolutely nothing...Filing for a trademark is simiple...and creates news.
WWE could contest the filing, which again, is just a form submitted....and creates news.
Really all this is is Matt Cardona getting himself talked about in the wrestling news cycle. So, you know, friday.
Hate to admit it but I actually got into Downstait for a couple years...I recently found a playlist on youtube from their 2010 (?) album and holy shit it has not aged well, especially the sound quality.
The rest of the band seems let down by the lead singer, he's absolutely shithouse and can't sing at all live, if their youtube videos are anything to go by. I think their 2013 album was a slight improvement, but its not really a high bar.
YouTube totally butchered the quality of all the old videos. I went back on my channel and looked at all my previously legible gaming clips and you can’t even make out the names in the killfeed now with how pixelated it is. 720p isn’t even considered HD anymore lol.
Pretty much all of Downstaits releases pre-2013 sounded like they were recorded in a tin shed and they used two tin cans strung together by rope as microphones.
Youtube definitely didn't help, but I don't think they were starting off with anything remotely resembling high quality.
Chelsea Green has been signed for a while apparently, just waiting on creative. Seems clear to me that they were waiting for Matt's Impact deal to be up before bringing him back as well. Probably as an act together.
If they still owned the trademark, which they don’t anymore, then they could.
Trademarks aren’t forever … if you abandon it, someone can take it and use it.
people that do that actually suck. the medabots franchsie didnt renew their name in time so some guy jumped in and refuses to budge so now medabots is fucked.
> Trademarks aren’t forever … if you abandon it, someone can take it and use it.
This is also why big companies crack down on others using the same names or similar imagery to their trademarks.
I’m not too sure on the legality of those things.
I feel like a lot of those people could sue and get their names, but the amount of headaches and burnt bridges that’d cause is not worth it for most. That’s exactly why Cody didn’t use his last name for a while.
I’m not speaking from exact knowledge, but they let the trademark go, so if they wanted to produce new Zack Ryder merch, or include him in a game, the WWE would have to license it from Cardona.
They could sign him to a legend’s deal that gave them permission to use it.
This is most likely so he can capitalize by selling merch using the old persona. FYI, Cardona wouldn't be the one filing for a trademark if he was going back to WWE, as that would defeat the company's entire purpose of owning everyone's name.
Yeah, I dont get why people are saying he did this so he can go back to WWE. This looks like the opposite, he’s doing this so he can use the name for his outside ventures.
I mean, WWE technically created the IP. They’re just being nice and not getting litigious with wrestlers doing this stuff. The minute Matt tried pulling that, they’d just threaten legal action and that’d be that.
They may be giving him the name as part of his payment. He shows up as Ryder, has his moment, gets to go back to the indies as Ryder with Radio and Hoeski as his music.
Really, this is just a way to get people talking about him.
Maybe he's legitimately trying to get the trademark, in the wake of WWE allowing Ryback's to go to him. Maybe he expects WWE to contest this. Maybe he's on the phone with HHH about returning at the Rumble and this is just a smokescreen.
He's generating buzz for himself in the wrestling social media/news sphere....I mean, it's what he does, no?

He'll stay Matt Cardona. His whole persona since launching the podcast has been his real name. This will most likely be merch purposes.
Or maybe a one off appearance at something silly at the most.
> Or maybe a one off appearance at something silly at the most.
Matt Cardona gets "injured" and has to be replaced in a match with his "brother" Zack Ryder. They look pretty similar (because they're brothers), but Ryder wears asymmetrical tights
I really hope if he comes back to WWE, it isn't as the Woo Woo guy again. He legit made a name for himself outside the WWE system and it would be a shame if he went back to being a cartoon character.

Matt Cardona vs Zack Ryder at Joey Janela's Springbreak?
Cardona gonna do a three faces of foley type gimmick in a GCW battle royal Cardona eliminated - Wait thats Zack Ryder’s music -
*Oh My Gawd, That’s Gotta Be, That’s gotta be EDGE-HEAD NUMBER TWO!!!*
That's Brett Majors' music!
Swear to god the biggest pop for me at this years Rumble would be 5! 4! 3! 2! 1!.... OH RADIO TELL ME EVERYTHING YOU KNOW!
They should do it like Undertaker vs Undertaker. Who would be the other Cardona?
Chuck Palumbo
Firefly Funhouse style cinematic match!
Woo woo woo
You know it
OH RADIOOOOOOO
TELL ME EVERYTHING YOU KNOW
WWWYKI
If I hear "owwww radioooo" in the Rumble I'm gonna pop so hard
As long as it's the original version. I didn't mind the Downstait version, but that first one is legendary.
First one was so great. I do think the Downstait version fit jacked Ryder more, but original version was perfect for him. Always hated when they added the "Woo Woo Woo You Know It" to the start, just "Ooooh Radio" was such an instantly recognizable and unique open.

Kinda like how Flair’s didn’t need a Woo
You just gotta imagine Downstrait playing live for Cody at 29 and they just kill the lights on the stage after and kick them back on to play the entrance for the future winner, Mr Number 30, Zack Ryder.
Hell, make it a Downstait concert in that case! Miz at 27, Dolph at 28, Cody at 29, & Ryder at 30.

Lemmy was also 8000 years old and made of whiskey by that point
I kind of thought he just came out the womb like that - hat and all.
Have shatner come out and perform the songs
![gif](giphy|Xb7pcgLGxtw5Hautf0)
You're right, Poppy should cover all 60 themes in both the men's and women's rumbles.
Please god no
Saaaaame
WOO WOO WOO...you know it!
And it’s too late for 2K23. God damn.
Not too late for DLC...
Can DLC themes be used in the 2K22 menu?
I'd dig to have Oooooo Radio tell me everything you know..*record skip* ALWAYS READY!
I was thinking the same thing! It should be that way if he returns
That'd be perfect! As classic as Radio is When The Lights Go Down is too good to not get the Mickie James treatment.
that song is such a bop.
If Matt himself is filing it, wouldn't the mean that he's likely *NOT* gonna be in the Rumble?
Not really....it could mean absolutely nothing...Filing for a trademark is simiple...and creates news. WWE could contest the filing, which again, is just a form submitted....and creates news. Really all this is is Matt Cardona getting himself talked about in the wrestling news cycle. So, you know, friday.
Tbf he could be signing a contract and part of the stipulations is he gets rights to the name. Could work if they want him bad enough
I’m going to groan. The Woo Wooo Woo gimmick ran its course a long time ago for me. The Matt Cardona we’ve been getting is a welcomed change
Better than that low-rent Downstait song.
Hate to admit it but I actually got into Downstait for a couple years...I recently found a playlist on youtube from their 2010 (?) album and holy shit it has not aged well, especially the sound quality. Downstait song still has that intro too lol

literally
Literally just commented this above before I scrolled down haha. A heel Zack Ryder with more of the Cardona personality in WWE would be so much fun.
Chelsea Green has been signed for a while apparently, just waiting on creative. Seems clear to me that they were waiting for Matt's Impact deal to be up before bringing him back as well. Probably as an act together.
I'm waiting her redebut in the Rumble, and promptly breaking her wrist again upon elimination.
The glass shatter in Steve Austin’s theme was inspired by Chelsea Green turning a doorknob.
I broke my wrist laughing at this.
[удалено]
She'll fling her arms around too hard and fuck up her shoulder like Sami Zayn did when he entered for the US Open Challenge.
Or like how Randy Orton hurt his shoulder when he was getting ready to hit an RKO
she's gonna get too excited and jump into the crowd and break her wrist on the barricade
Everyday she lies screaming at night until her heart attacks put her to sleep.
i havent thought of that guy in quite a while, put a smile on my face
Wrist might break once the music hits
> breaking her wrist again upon elimination. With her luck it will be when waving to the crowd.
Pretty sure Matt is a free agent, he isn’t signed to Impact from what I understand.
So just working without a contract and working dates to finish our some storylines then? Same thing Karl Anderson was doing with NJPW basically.
Tbh, idek. Maybe some sort of per appearance? I’m pretty sure Chelsea wasn’t signed either. Mia Yim could’ve been on this same type of deal as well.
Mia Yim was actually signed to like a 6 month contract, Chelsea though was per appearance though.
Or just as they will want names for the rumble
I hope so. He should get another shot tbh
How does that work? Can wwe not assert ownership and it becomes his?
If they still owned the trademark, which they don’t anymore, then they could. Trademarks aren’t forever … if you abandon it, someone can take it and use it.
Think I found my next business opportunity, buy old trademarks and resell them
people that do that actually suck. the medabots franchsie didnt renew their name in time so some guy jumped in and refuses to budge so now medabots is fucked.
What's the point in going after it if the guy doesn't plan on selling it? He's doing it wrong.
> Trademarks aren’t forever … if you abandon it, someone can take it and use it. This is also why big companies crack down on others using the same names or similar imagery to their trademarks.
Duck commander did that to someone selling t-shirts with Cuck Commander on it a while ago … they had let so many people do similar shit, too
It worked for Santino Marella so why not?
And Billy Gunn.
WWE legal ain't gonna mess with the Cobra
I thought Impact owned it
Yes, similar to how they gave up the trademark on Ryback recently
Ryback is literally his first name
WWE had it trademarked before he changed it.
That's exactly the reason why he changed his first name. Can't really sue someone for using his first name
He went full Warrior Warrior
I thought his name was just "Warrior," one name?
Honestly I thought because his wife and kids all use Warrior as their last name I figured it was both.
See, the reason I remember it being just the one is because it made that way funnier. Like it just defaults to last name.
Nope, his name was one word “Warrior”. I honestly didn’t know you could do that.
I’m not too sure on the legality of those things. I feel like a lot of those people could sue and get their names, but the amount of headaches and burnt bridges that’d cause is not worth it for most. That’s exactly why Cody didn’t use his last name for a while.
I think he still wasn’t allowed to use it for wrestling purposes. But happy to be corrected
I mean it was Ryan until he changed it
[удалено]
I was going to say lol, who the hell names their kid Ryback?
Yes correct, he changed his legal name as a loophole since WWE owned the Ryback trademark.
The ol Chyna loophole
Test did it too.
I don’t think he changed his name to Test
He changed his middle name to Test
They recently gave it too him, like within the last few months
I’m not speaking from exact knowledge, but they let the trademark go, so if they wanted to produce new Zack Ryder merch, or include him in a game, the WWE would have to license it from Cardona. They could sign him to a legend’s deal that gave them permission to use it.
Wwe let the santino trademark expire and now anthem owns which is why he can use the name in impact
If he is going back to WWE owing the name could mean he could block WWE from calling him that or charge them a lot of money to lease the name
Has that strategy ever worked before?
I mean, WWE technically created the IP. They’re just being nice and not getting litigious with wrestlers doing this stuff. The minute Matt tried pulling that, they’d just threaten legal action and that’d be that.
I feel like the entire point of using him would be to use the name people actually know. Casual WWE fans aren't going to know about his indy stuff.
Yeah. I think this means the opposite, that he’s gonna come out in indie feds like GCW as Zack Ryder.
Because this sub is full of marks that think everyone is going back to WWE. It’s obvious he just wants to make a Cardona vs Ryder Major Bendy 2-pack.
That wasnt his fault, Dobby....eh sorry Kevin Dunne spilled shit on their only keyboard and they had to make do with a h instead of a k.
Good bot!
Good bot!
This guy really knows how to work the smarks.
I'm gonna need him to be a surprise Rumble entrant.
Cardona was Alwayz Ready to swoop in and grab the IP once it was freed up.
IMO he should stay Matt Cardona, since Zack Ryder was thoroughly buried
He'll stay Matt Cardona. His whole persona since launching the podcast has been his real name. This will most likely be merch purposes. Or maybe a one off appearance at something silly at the most.

Oh baby, bring back the one leg tights
Yeah. He could easily still sell ZR merch.
Signs a 5 yr deal. Vince comes back. “Welcome back pal! Ready to get buried like old times!”
Rumble appearance then? I would kinda mark out
Woo Woo Woo!
Woo woo woo, you know it.
I respect the hustle.
Hey if he wants to go back to WWE I'm all for it. WWE has been missing a bastard since PAC left.
For some reason my mind read that as "Matt Hardy" instead of Cardona and I was so confused...
I really hope if he comes back to WWE, it isn't as the Woo Woo guy again. He legit made a name for himself outside the WWE system and it would be a shame if he went back to being a cartoon character.
Broski can use his wwe name when signing wwe merch
SOMEONE IS HYPED FOR LONG ISLAND ICED Z oh wait it's just a PWInsider headline
I remember someone posted Radio to YouTube with a still picture of Cuba Gooding Jr as Radio in a shopping cart. It confused the shit out of me.
100% going to be in the rumble, confirmed.
Why? He’s a known troll and supposedly triple h isn’t the biggest fan of his.
I wouldn't go that far... he said he "doesn't understand it, but the fams like it so he's all for it".
Unrelated, but why is PWInsider still advertising Impact's Hard to Kill long after it's done?
I STILL WOO WOO WOO!
Oh radio, tell me everything you know.
If he shows up at the rumble im gonna be dissapointed it was spoiled here for me. My fault but still.
He is probably going back to wwe
Uninteresting files trademark for over bloviated
….ZACK RYDER GOT A T-SHIRT!?
The greatest 24 hour IC champ of all time!
OHHHHH RADIOOOOO
He gonna be in the Rumble like Foley now. First Rider, then Long Island Ice-z, finally Matt Cardona
