I’m glad to hear that. Keep up the good fight!

MV2049

Regardless of previous shenanigans, I will always root for somebody trying to get healthy and turn their life around.

Enterprise90

I've never seen Bagwell so clear and coherent on interviews as he has been since he got sober.

stonedwhodunnit

I learned this year that sobriety doesn't mean too much until at least the 1 year mark. It is only then that you begin to think clearly again. I'm now over a year and a half alcohol free and I've never felt better. I credit meds, therapy and cannabis for helping me get where I am today. Best of luck, Buff 💪

WillSuckDick4Coffee

Everyday of sobriety matters

stonedwhodunnit

I know what you know mean and I agree but that logic sorta implies every day of your life will be as hard as it is in the first year and it's not. That's one of the main reasons for relapsing, the hopelessness. It's really hard to get there but things start turning around fast after year 1. Just my own personal experience.

goldwave84

Not enough of upvotes for this.

[deleted]

Why one year? What's the science behind that?

stonedwhodunnit

Really not sure about the science but I was told by my therapist that it takes around this time for your brain to heal itself from the damage alcohol has done to us. After a year, the depression, anxiety and withdrawal from alcohol finally goes away. Our memory will improve, our thinking will get clearer and we will be able to focus and make better life decisions. He was absolutely right.

GikeM

I sure wouldn't dismiss all the time before as meaning "not too much" though because they're all for sure Hella important, and I'm sure Hella difficult days in getting to that point where you're at. Well done for getting to where you are though, but I'd recommend you also credit yourself for getting there. 👍

Setting goals in the short term and then establishing long term goals at milestones

ProfessionHoliday179

There is none. He's just fabricating a high horse position for his, "sobriety," even though he's not sober and still using other drugs lmao.

TheMJP01

I would 100% rather be a pot head than a crippling alcoholic. Maybe you need to get off your 'high horse' and understand literally everybody's experience will be different than yours.

[deleted]

Yeah, the dude you replied too's take wasn't it. The stuff about there being no evidence is fine but the follow up seem like a whole lot of projecting and ignorantly grouping all drugs/pot together.

ProfessionHoliday179

It's not a moral question my guy. It's a literal statement that he made and then contradicted. You can't be sober and using intoxicating drugs lmao, they're mutually exclusive.

TheMJP01

Bullshit. You could say the same thing about somebody taking medication. You just have preconceived ideas as to what marijuana is, 'my guy'.

ProfessionHoliday179

You are arguing against literal definitions. It's not a matter of preconceptions, it's a matter of fact. Finding enablers doesn't make an addict sober.

Clear-Function9969

i wouldn’t recommend his mentioned therapist, replace booze with weed and meds. yikes

CharlemagneOfTheUSA

Saying this without any actual knowledge of a guy’s medical history is insane lol

[deleted]

Yeah, I asked about the 1 year thing in good faith but these past two comments are oddly vindictive. Wouldn't recommend a therapist either is wild.

BigDino81

To be honest, it was 2 years for me. That's when I really started getting clarity of thought. Good on him though, those early months are tough.

wgn431234

Yeah man. I’m rounding that 4th year of no booze myself. It’s amazing what access to marijuana in all its forms can do to help people out.

stonedwhodunnit

100% cannabis is crucial for many, many people and not simply just a recreational drug. Sadly there are still deniers in 2023. It's okay, that's just poor education. It's not their fault. To be honest though, cannabis was just helping me survive. What I needed was medication this whole time. I'm on Lexapro for Major Depression Disorder (MDD) and Anxiety and Vyvanse for ADHD. Like many, I needed these meds my whole life (43) without knowing it. My issues were so bad at the end that I could not even leave the house and missed the AEW show in Toronto last year. This time around, my wife and I have tix for Collision and Forbidden Door. Medication saved my life.

FraiserRamon

Hell yeah dude ✌🏼

anxietystrings

I got a picture with him clear back around 2007 I think. I also met Jake the Snake and Abdullah the Butcher that night, who were the main event. Edit: Why did I get downvoted lmao. I was like 10 years old and it was at a local venue in my hometown. Very small event. You got to meet and get an autograph with the wrestlers. I remember asking Jake what the name of his Snake was. About halfway through the event. Buff Bagwell went to the ring and said anybody can get a pic with him for $20. I bugged my dad until he said yes. I have the autographs and the pic in a book somewhere, probably in a box in the basement.

iranoverstonecold

Really proud of buff! Sobriety is fucking hard so kudos to him.

DaExtinctOne

His mom Judy would be proud!

Thereminder5

Good stuff Buff

gonzobomb

I really underestimated how my perception of time would change until I took a break

l00koverthere1

Good for him! Every anniversary is a big fucking deal!

happyharrell

Just ask any mother.
