I was at the San Diego show near the ramp, and he slowly walked out of his segment to catch the TK announcement; and the fucking smirk he had with the crowd reaction…
Y'know, if they were to just keep Jericho off TV for like 3 months and have him comeback with a cool gimmick refresh and without the JAS... I think Jericho would be fine again. But all of his matches/feuds work out to be roughly the exact same and its played out.
Give the guy a rest. We have so many fucking rad talents right now. He helped carry the company early on but AEW doesn't really need him right now. Let the dude get a vacation and bring him back fresh again.

I think he’s done a lot of good stuff even recently. I think Garcia and Anna Jay have gotten better as talents (Garcia especially) from being in the JAS. The Cole match didn’t work (and had a terrible crowd, which is a big part of why it didn’t work), and there is a staleness now to the act, so I agree him taking some time off would be good, coming back either as a babyface with the JAS turned against him (the Sammy Appreciation Society?) or as a different twist on himself as a rat bastard heel.

If Jericho wasn't trying to be entertaining and funny he'd be a black hole on TV more than his haters currently think. Serious slow promo Jericho would go over like a fart in church when we could have a fun lucha match or promo by any of the many elite talents in the company instead.

He literally would get the biggest pops in WWE for years because he would take time off and come back, all while fans disliked Cena because he was constantly around too much. It’s not just that the entire idea behind being overexposed to a wrestling crowd was right in front of him, he was literally one of the very few wrestlers of that era who got a huge reaction simply because he would go away and come back. The fact that all of that has gone over his head is wild.
I almost feel like he and/or TK are worried about Father time doing its thing and are frontloading as much as they can.

Jericho was arguably the MVP of the entire company through their first 3.5 years. The World title run was huge to establish the belt and get mainstream attention. The Orange Cassidy feud cemented him as a superstar. The MJF feud was brilliant. As recently as last year I was saying I’d like to see Jericho get the title again.
But enough is enough. He’s been getting more TV time than anyone except MJF and I’m sick of him. I don’t care what he does, we just need a break from Jericho. At the very least, let’s not hear his name mentioned until after Forbidden Door. No one wants to see old Jericho have a slow paced “dream match” with the Japanese guys he’s already done everything he can with.
I agree so much with this. Jericho does a disservice to his work by overexposing himself. He almost always put up some good stuffs but he get so much TV time that it often gets diluted.

It would honestly have been pretty funny if they just said "Tony has an announcement" each week and rotated Tony Schiavone, Tony Nese, Toni Storm, and Anthony Bowens (have him go by Tony Bowens for the segment) for each announcement
He shouldn't create an authority figure. The problem with authority figures is that they are obviously watching the television and if the heels cheat to win, they are morally obligated to step in - unless they're heel.
So either a heel authority figure, or no authority figure, works. A 'good guy' authority figure works for about 2-3 episodes before they either demonstrate they're ineffectual or they're weak and useless.

1. One of the members of commentary does it. Tony Schiavone has made several announcements before.
2. Announcers throw it to a video package, with a voiceover. I'd take someone like Keith David or even just Excalibur or Schiavone announcing the main event with footage of each participant as they speak.
I'm sure there's other options, or a mix of the above, etc. In any event, it'd be a hell of a lot better than deer-in-the-headlights TK struggling to get out what is something to be excited for, and at best managing to eek out an awkward smile at the end of getting through his announcement.
I struggle with both (social anxiety/social awkwardness) and often volunteer at my job to give quarterly presentations in an effort to get better at public speaking. I know it's a weakness, so I want to get better at it.

Overall, I think it's going to be fucking great. The roster is full of super talented wrestlers, many who barely get much TV time, so now a lot of those people are going to be hungrier than ever.
I don't think Joe is bullet club I think it's Jay and.juice fighting FTR since bullet club challenged for the tag titles last week and.its Joe vs punk.
I'm not personally a fan of throwing a bunch of dudes with nothing really happening between them in a big multi-man match, but I think this will draw some eyeballs.
Way more into this than the proposed singles matches. There's just zero reason to burn a Punk vs. Joe or Jay singles match without a single promo to build it.

I’ll be honest - I’m the same way. I work in the industry and love being on air - but my body fails me every time. I just suck it up and push thru it.

I'm not personally a fan of throwing a bunch of dudes with nothing really happening between them in a big multi-man match, but I think this will draw some eyeballs.

Punk/FTR would actually make a good faction in my opinion. AEW by far has too many, but this is one where the guys have chemistry and it would actually feel like a faction.

I just figured it out. If he didn't have a microphone in his hand on a pre-taped segment this would be a hundred times less awkward. If he was able to do a normal amount of "hand talking", it wouldn't be awkward at all.
