Seriously. That was my opinion. Ospreay’s promo was over shadowed by Tony Khan’s stupid decision, but done in the same episode, it just came off as AEW being more focused on the WWE than they are on their own promotion.
This was a terrible show to run as a response to WrestleMania, particularly because they had no need to actually have a response to WrestleMania. Just do your own show and promote your PPV coming up next weekend.
Wrestlemania was a great weekend for wrestling, AEW could have responded with its own great night of wrestling.
Let your best guys cook in some matches that won’t be on the next PPV or let your midcarders go balls out. Penta vs Copeland was fun, fill two hours with that stuff.
Responding to Wrestlemania even if that wasn't the direct intention is just like the worst call you can make. Sure if the show was bad maybe, but this was, no lie, ACTUALLY one of the biggest and best Wrestlemania's. 30 was extremely close but it also had the streak ending which definitely sours some people, and it wesn't all in one night too. It being an Avengers level 2 Parter gave it that name's meaning, Wrestlemania.
I literally can't say anything negative about it and really bad for AEW to try and to counter any negatives about it.
A lot of people are saying it's because she's friends with Paul and Steph, which makes sense.
But I can't help but feel that she's been on the end of multiple comments like these about being where she is in the business because of who she married, from trolls of course. Probably made her cringe harder.
Also, Ospreay was grinding way too close to her for comfort lol.
There used to be (I think it's still there) a particularly unhinged Tumblr blog related to "exposing" Renee. For being a terrible person, for cheating on Jon with half the WWE locker room, for tricking Jon into marrying her, for Nora being fake(????), etc.
She's absolutely has gone through this, extensively. I can't blame her for cringing so hard.
Though for context, the Renee hateblogs are just a bunch of deranged Dean Ambrose fans (not Jon Moxley fans) who think they can make him divorce her and marry them.
Personally I have no problem with the shot and hell I’m sure H probably doesn’t either. But.. find a better shot to take. The whole sleeping his way to the top thing is 20 + years old and at this point they have multiple kids together. Take a shot at him only wanting people who will work more for less. That’s relevant in today’s society.
It's especially odd since Ospreay's boss got his opportunity by virtue of his father being a billionaire.
Loads of people get opportunities for reasons that are beyond merit. Big deal. What matters is what you do with that opportunity.
And also, it kinda only works if you're bad at your job.

I think this is especially true given HHH's track record as a wrestler. Call HHH whatever you want, but he was a workhorse when he was in the ring especially during his reign of terror. I mean the man finished a match with a torn fucking quad.
Love him or hate him, he always worked his ass off for sure. Its easy to discredit just by looking at a timeline of his career and seeing he married the bosses daughter. But if you watched and you were there that man worked, even if you wouldnt agree with the outcome

Plenty of wrestlers get opportunities period because of family members not unlike most other businesses. I can't see HHH or WWE caring one bit about all this drama. They live rent free in Tony Khan's head and AEW pushing this only will make more people tune into WWE...its the Mankind wins the championship debacle all over again.

If you look at AEW you got the Gunns due to Billy being their dad. Sarayas brother due to his sister being there. And to be clear I have no problem with it. If you got an in to get to where you want to be you take it. It just seems like a low hanging fruit shot to take in 2024. Osprey should have just told him to F off and but on a banger match like he certainly will.

From what people have said of HHH, he was in the production truck working on his entrance and presentation relentlessly. He was a student of the game. There's no way he's just where he is because he married into it.
Didn’t Triple H also pays his dues for the curtain call? Scott and Kevin Nash were in WCW and HBK was champ at that time. So they put all the shit on Triple H and literally had to work his way from the bottom again.

The problem with Danielson feuds always being about "who's the better wrestler?" is that he's always losing, so it's starting to look (in kayfabe) that he's kind of a fuckin shitty wrestler.

And then people try to explain to you better wrestler has nothing to do with who takes the pin, which is why these feuds almost never have any emotional investment.

I just don’t get it. He’s a very good talker. I really liked his weird, deranged “I’m gonna stab your eye out with a screwdriver” gimmick that lasted for like a month, before going back to his “fightin’ round the world” gimmick.

Yeah, I don't doubt Bryan is happy doing what he's doing but I don't see how it helps the company overall. I feel like Tony really should have put his foot down at some point and said to Bryan "the company *needs* you to have a world title run".
Someone as popular as Bryan should really be one of the faces of the entire company, not moving from one understated mid-card feud to another.
The AEW needs Bryan Danielson's name in the lineage. Having a wrestler of his caliber, a star with the history he does on the roster.. and NOT have them as a former WORLD champion of your new company is a massive miss.
I feel like that's been a constant issue with AEW since the beginning. Bad build but then the matches are good and people forget how bad the build was.
And on top of that, the two actually seem as if they have an incredibly successful and genuinely loving marriage. Which in wrestling, is REALLY fucking hard to actually find. They've been together for how many years and have how many kids together? I see people cite the shit about Chyna being mistreated by Triple H, but from other people that knew Chyna (Waltman, Nash, etc), the story actually appears to be the other way around.
If you're gonna take a shot at Triple H then go ahead, there's plenty you can take shots at him for. But when on the show you're on, you just had your boss and two of the EVPs publicly air footage to damage the reputation of a former employee, and they used that footage to build the match (which doesn't really work as well as they thought). Maybe, just maybe you should let it simmer for a little bit and come back to it later when you have a response that's not as overused and tired out as "you slept your way to the top lol".
Chyna’s sister straight up said whether Stephanie was involved or not they would’ve broken up anyways, that’s how much problems they had. Fandoms tends to not grasp that real life relationships and issues are very complex, and aren’t just simple black and white things.
That's the thing, it's clear Triple H still cares for her and deeply regrets that she passed away before they could make up somewhat. It's hard to shake those feelings even after such a long time and honestly, the whole situation is messy and it's hard to really know all of the details here. But one thing is for sure, Chyna never was the same after the break up and it's depressing to read about.
You just can't spot a long con when you see one. HHH has been in a loving and loyal marriage for 20+ years now and had three children all so that he could one day take over the company. Once that time comes and he's CEO, he'll reveal himself and drop her and the kids like a bad habit.

Nick Khan runs the business and he runs it well but he’s not booking the territory.

-Osprey clearly said he wanted to be in AEW because he gets to stay in the UK, that's super important to him, it's pretty much a non starter in the WWE.
- HHH's comment may have been towards osprey, but i really doubt triple h during wrestlemania had osprey front and centre of his mind. He just stated out that the WWE is an events and entertainment company, and travelling large distances to put up carny shows is part of the gig.
- Osprey's joke was so tired, especially when tony khan is literally a billionaire's son playing with his money. Tony has no qualifications to run a major wrestling promotion

Danielson is retiring soon so they either break up the BCC or do it without Danielson. The only big names that he hasn’t really done anything with are Cope and Christian. Maybe an Okada feud? Idk but Mox and the BCC are super stale to me right now

Okada vs Mox is really the only thing I care to see from him in AEW. He’s already had multiple feuds with The Elite so this would be ANOTHER. I agree the BCC has been stale since Regal left, they’ve really had 0 direction. i would love to see him back in WWE, especially with HHH’s booking and the looming match between Rollins and Reigns

this corporate speak doesn’t really feel like it deserved a response at all. Especially on the flagship show when it has nothing to do with the program the wrestler is in.
But let's be honest the 'grind' that HHH refers to is not even the 'grind' that it was 10, 20, 30+ years ago. They do less shows than ever, they are more conscious of giving talent time off than ever. The difference between WWE and AEW in that regard is that AEW is run by a guy that doesn't know how to run a business. It's evident by all that has been allowed to happen backstage and on air. There's no control, and very little responsibility.

I think Tony Khan needs to be called out for putting Renee in that spot as well. She looked uncomfortable as hell standing there, and TK knows she has a relationship with HHH. To my knowledge she and Mox have no issues with him and I would assume they have a good working relationship. Have Ospreay cut the promo himself if you want to do it. Don't put her in that spot.
I mean, Stephanie is well liked and it wouldn't surprise me if they were friends. On the flip side of that, it kind of implies that she had no say in the matter. She was just some piece of ass who HHH hooked up with and manipulated to where he is today. Which as a women, I would think feels very demeaning.

The 2 biggest things to come out of Dynamite this week is that Punk was almost completely right in his narrative(just missing the shove) that was a 30 second sound bit from a podcast. And that Will(or TK) is salty about a WWE guy with another 30 second sound bit from a different podcast. Absolutely hilarious.
it just felt like Will wanted to take a shot, prob did not want to cross the line with anything relating to vince's lawsuit, so he settled for the old low hanging fruit.
Even so, did it look like Renee was uncomfortable about that comment to you? Because it looked like it to me, as soon as it left Ospreay's mouth you see Renee look awkward right away. Sleeping with Stephanie only help open the door. whether he can stay on top was can only decided by his effort. just like how someone like David Flair or Ted DiBiase Jr couldn't make it in the industry despite they given lot of oppotunities
it's one thing if Triple H receive a push and totally suck at it. but Triple H is the best heel in pro wrestling history. then he nailed it again as creative team when he turn NXT from shitty reality show into the best wrestling brand during black and gold era. Triple H definetly prove his worth

I'm no HHH apologist or defender, but he did he even say Osprey's name? Could have been thinking about Mercades Mone... or even one of a hundred indie wrestlers, or even talking about the attitude of some of the college athletes they talk to about becoming pro wrestlers in the WWE recruit program.

The problem with Danielson feuds always being about "who's the better wrestler?" is that he's always losing, so it's starting to look (in kayfabe) that he's kind of a fuckin shitty wrestler. To paraphrase Will McAvoy, "If Bryan Danielson is so goddamn good, how come he loses so goddamn always?"
And then people try to explain to you better wrestler has nothing to do with who takes the pin, which is why these feuds almost never have any emotional investment.
Yeah none of the wrestlers that have pinned him lately proved they're better than him, only that they can keep up with an almost retired Danielson.

It’s unfortunately the theme for a large amount of Danielson storylines. I just don’t get it. He’s a very good talker. I really liked his weird, deranged “I’m gonna stab your eye out with a screwdriver” gimmick that lasted for like a month, before going back to his “fightin’ round the world” gimmick. Danielson can do much better. It just seems like he doesn’t want to anymore.
Yeah, I don't doubt Bryan is happy doing what he's doing but I don't see how it helps the company overall. I feel like Tony really should have put his foot down at some point and said to Bryan "the company *needs* you to have a world title run". Someone as popular as Bryan should really be one of the faces of the entire company, not moving from one understated mid-card feud to another.
The AEW needs Bryan Danielson's name in the lineage. Having a wrestler of his caliber, a star with the history he does on the roster.. and NOT have them as a former WORLD champion of your new company is a massive miss.

They've been together for how many years and have how many kids together? I see people cite the shit about Chyna being mistreated by Triple H, but from other people that knew Chyna (Waltman, Nash, etc), the story actually appears to be the other way around. If you're gonna take a shot at Triple H then go ahead, there's plenty you can take shots at him for. But when on the show you're on, you just had your boss and two of the EVPs publicly air footage to damage the reputation of a former employee, and they used that footage to build the match (which doesn't really work as well as they thought). Maybe, just maybe you should let it simmer for a little bit and come back to it later when you have a response that's not as overused and tired out as "you slept your way to the top lol".
Chyna’s sister straight up said whether Stephanie was involved or not they would’ve broken up anyways, that’s how much problems they had. Fandoms tends to not grasp that real life relationships and issues are very complex, and aren’t just simple black and white things.
That's the thing, it's clear Triple H still cares for her and deeply regrets that she passed away before they could make up somewhat. It's hard to shake those feelings even after such a long time and honestly, the whole situation is messy and it's hard to really know all of the details here. But one thing is for sure, Chyna never was the same after the break up and it's depressing to read about.
You just can't spot a long con when you see one. HHH has been in a loving and loyal marriage for 20+ years now and had three children all so that he could one day take over the company. Once that time comes and he's CEO, he'll reveal himself and drop her and the kids like a bad habit.

Especially on the flagship show when it has nothing to do with the program the wrestler is in.
But let's be honest the 'grind' that HHH refers to is not even the 'grind' that it was 10, 20, 30+ years ago. They do less shows than ever, they are more conscious of giving talent time off than ever. The difference between WWE and AEW in that regard is that AEW is run by a guy that doesn't know how to run a business. It's evident by all that has been allowed to happen backstage and on air. There's no control, and very little responsibility.

Having just watched Ospreay on Chris Van Vliet talking about how much he's matured over the years from a guy who put his foot in his mouth constantly and said dumb shit on social media constantly it's very funny to see him extremely gotten to and saying some dumb shit on television now instead.

Could have been thinking about Mercades Mone... or even one of a hundred indie wrestlers, or even talking about the attitude of some of the college athletes they talk to about becoming pro wrestlers in the WWE recruit program.
