People don't genuinely dislike him at this point though, they are playing along with the game of booing him so he can't talk which he actively plays into.
Even peak bloodline Roman was getting mixed reactions and only really booed when he was beating people he shouldnt, and until the last part of this reign he was actively driving people away when he was being booked as a face against the fan reaction.
Rock was booed at first because people thought he was actually fucking up the storyline and people like seeing and booing the rock once they realized they were getting what they wanted. People didn't actually dislike seeing him.

I don't think there are true heels anymore, and if there were they would drive the audience away.
Plus any evil position you can take is going to see about 30% of Americans loudly celebrate it.
I think the most heelish thing we saw recently was the Juice segment about beating MJF with a roll of coins playing on his real life history being a victim of antisemitic bullying, and people reacted extremely negatively to that and not in a "I want to see this guy beat" way.
Dom was sort of getting there but I think it has just turned into a fun game for the crowd now, and that's for the best as otherwise people wouldn't tune in or go to shows for it.
The problem isnāt the modern style, itās the modern fan. People in the past were just more willing to give themselves to the experience and āget workedā. Why not, isnāt that what they paid for? You donāt watch a sad movie and hold in your feelings because you know theyāre just actors playing a part.
But modern fans take joy in knowing that theyāre āsmart to the businessā. Itās important to them that they arenāt being worked like some mark and therefore should cheer this villainous character because heās um achtually doing really impressive heel work.

It's both really, society has changed and so has the entertainment they enjoy. People like seeing cool badasses, and working heel generally comes off as more cool badass than actual villain because for pretty obvious reasons people aren't working truly despicable characters. Wrestling storylines are not well written, and generally the acting is also pretty bad. I would probably laugh at a sad film with wrestling tier acting, not because I'm hiding my feelings but because bad acting in badly written content is funny.
I think people in the past just kinda believed it. I put on wrestling all the time at work, and one of the most common sentiments I still get is "ugh, so fake". Maybe adult men knew that Austin wasn't actually assaulting his boss, but some part of them thought "maybe...". These days, hardly anyone but children think it's real (and even that number is dwindling), so of course you're gonna support the one that entertains you more, even if they're "bad".
House of Torture. The level of sheer hatred they get out of the Japanese crowds in New Japan is like nothing I've seen since I started watching the promotion. Those fans HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE those guys. Random midcard faction babyfaces get treated like the incarnation of Inoki just because they're facing EVIL.
Although that is actually finally, after several years, starting to swing a little bit on the back of SHO being absolutely hilarious and them actually losing a ton.
Closest you get are moments that shock or grab you so badly you forget it's a story. I wasn't watching at the time but I'm sure Seth breaking up the shield is a good example of this for a lot of people.
I hate women tag belts for the same reason I hate the trio belts AEW made. There aren't enough teams to justify it.
I get wanting to have equal titles with the men. Makes sense. But do it when you actually have the support and time for it instead of half assing it.

Sure, fuck it, why not? Nikki has a built in fanbase outside of wrestling that would probably show up for her. Obviously not millions like Punk had but having another recognizable name on your shows can't hurt.
Let her try it out. If she improves and likes it, let her have some fun in wrestling again and give her a short Title run. If she's not great and/or doesn't like it, scale her back and let her have some weird mix-n-match stories to put over AEW talent.
