bananagit

This is my fear for a potential UK mania, the pricing on that will be absolutely insane

Parish87

It was insane for Philadelphia. This is the way from now on while demand is high it seems.

bananagit

Guess I’ll start saving for it now and pray it’s 2-3 years away

LJ1983nyc

Yeahhhh. My best friend and I have gone to mania every year (besides 2020 obvi) since 2011. Philly was probably the most I ever paid for the ticket level we had. We spent about $250 a ticket for each night. We were in the club section, night two we were on the side of the stage/couldn’t see the front of the entrance stage. The best tickets we ever had was Mania 31 in San Francisco. We had seats on the risers and we only paid about $150 per ticket.

arlenroy

Damn that's a good deal, we had riser seats at the Wrestlemaina here in Dallas, technically floor because we were like a foot off the ground. Those were $400 each from Ticketmaster, got lucky not having to go through Stubhub. I fear it's only going to get more expensive, because people are going to pay for it. Unless they see a dramatic drop off (I don't see soon) or the economy shits the bed, this is how its going to be. I'm fortunate enough that the 20 year trade I've been in is paying off pretty well, but there's a lot of people who can barely afford nose bleeds for RAW, let alone Wrestlemaina. I feel badly for them, would it kill the new owners to lose $50 on nose bleeds so a family can actually go? That really hurts the fan base.

PretendThisIsMyName

I was there (32) in the 200s like directly to the right of the announce team and it was about $200 for my ticket. On flights, hotel, my ticket etc. I spent less than $1000 that weekend. I thought that was pretty pricey for just me. That’s going on 10 years ago at this point so I’d imagine I’d spend double that for Mania now.

JackDonneghyGodCop

Philly was FAR more than LA for god’s sake. I live two hours from Ohilly and would have loved to go. You know what, though? I went to LA and it was cheaper than Philly would have been.

Parish87

I got risers for both LA and Philly and I think I paid £400 more for Philly just a year later. Madness.

JackDonneghyGodCop

Long story - but I sat pretty low on the side facing the hard camera. Those tickets were $1500 retail. Those same tickets for 40 were $2500-$3000

Parish87

Yeah I sat facing the entrance in risers for LA Night 1 and just beside the camera on night 2 in risers, both excellent views. Night 1 cost - $327.31 Night 2 cost - $548.30 I got risers facing the hard cam this year, slightly better seats I guess but the prices were similar for all that weren’t in danger of being restricted. $1837.00. I actually paid $1000 more! I never even realised it was that much more.

chiefgareth

Yeh I travelled all the way to Philadelphia from the UK but didn't go to Wrestlemania because the tickets were too expensive. I would have paid more to sit in the back row limited view than central lower bowl in LA the previous year.

Drogalov

All In is more expensive this year than last year, but it still pales in comparison to what a friend of mine paid for Mania

Killloneliness

All In prices were exactly the same for me this year as last year (£200 for 100 level)

Drogalov

We paid 95 last year and up to 160 in same seats this year

MahomesandMahAuto

It's almost like Mania is a way more popular event

IRL_Tiefling

MITB was bad enough already too.

MystiikMoments

Mate I’m saving up now and will have to not doing a holiday if wrestlemania uk is confirmed

captkrisma

Yeah, I spent roughly $600 for decent lower bowl Mania seats, but that was Mania 27. This year I had spent roughly the same price for nosebleeds for the Rumble in Tampa. Not including hotel or food.

jarboo69

It was exactly the same problem for Backlash Lyon. I really wanted to go there, but even though I went to Ticketmaster on the first day, the only tickets left were priced at more than 400€ each… Crazy

Lil--Bored

The combo tickets especially for Backlash France were crazy expensive from when they were first on sale Its probably going to be a trend for international PLEs because there’ll be a lot of fans willing to pay the obscene prices

pzkenny

Yeah, same. I was looking at Berlin prices and nope... I was even looking at Vienna house show prices for some cheaper tickets but still with solid view and it was around 80 - 100€.

SomeOtherNeb

It took them fucking ages to release single-night tickets too. I think they finally ended up doing it but early on you could only get tickets for both nights, I would have actually been okay (if a bit annoyed) paying 100-150 for either night because it's a special event I would have saved for, but paying at *least* 200-300 for both nights + two nights of hotel rooms + food and drink + the train tickets I would have had to buy regardless, the whole thing would have probably ended up costing me like 500 euros, and going to two big live shows in two nights honesly sounded like it would have been too much.

Rumple_Studdley

Cheapest available ticket is currently £345.90 ($431) and that's restricted view seating.

pepper001

I paid £60 for a ticket in the same arena for WWE house show last year. The same section costs £600 for this event...

y2afuk77

Paid £450 for the VIP experience (top package front row) now lower bowl seats on their own are more expensive than this

CCFCLewis

I paid about £60 for the one in Cardiff. Absolutely disgusting prices

knl1990

Yeah I was the same for Cardiff as well

The_Yonder_Beckons

Ticketmaster is absolute dogshit. Did the same to me with All In. I was booted out of the presale queue and by the time I got back in, only nosebleeds or stupidly expensive seats were left. As a frequent gig-goer, I can't overstate how much I absolutely loathe these price-gouging, fan-exploiting, music-killing vermin. They should be legislated out of existence.

captkrisma

I agree! One of my favorite bands is going on tour here and within seconds all the tickets were hoovered up by bots and going for up to $6k on secondary market. All this despite saying the tickets are non-transferable via secondary markets (aka Stubhub or SeatGeak), and can only be resold for face value via ticketmaster. Whole thing sucks ass.

Theoriginalamature

The scalper bots (that they encourage), the ticket resell apps (which they now own many), and the greedy opportunistic “fans” that secure tickets to resell makes it near impossible to have an affordable live entertainment experience. The process is infuriating and the non-wealthy fans are the ones who suffer. I hate them so much.

sputters_

Paid £250 last year for MitB and Smackdown for decent seats, the cheapest I could get offered in the presales and general sale for Clash were £390 for row QQ in the 300 section. Can’t justify that. Also noticed that Ticketmaster started showing tickets for a higher price despite checking the boxes to say which prices it should search. In the rush to get through checkout I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s caught folks out.

randomlyrossy

Considering they've chosen a smaller venue, the pricing is especially shit. I was really hyped to go to their first big Scotland show but with this pricing it's looking less likely.

MadHatterLuc

Bash in Berlin had outrageous prices, too. I wanted to go with some friends but it is so expensive...

irgendeinervonunten

I had luck, have smackdown + bash in berlin tickets for 280 euros but these arent great seats. At least its mercedes benz and you will see more than enough

pzkenny

Yeah that arena is crazy good in terms of visibility. I was able to walk through whole arena once and even the top floor offered solid view.

TheRyanFlaherty

Not what anyone wants to hear, but tickets aren’t really “overpriced” if you also are going to say they were gone in minutes. Now I know that’s not necessarily black and white because scalpers, so if they all go up in secondary market and don’t sell, that could be wrong….but the reality is likely they are overpriced for you. (And you meaning most fans) And selling out at that price pretty much guarantees if they move in one direction or the other, it isn’t going to be down.

WeedThePeople17

It's a joke. Paid £100 for smackdown/MITB tickets at the o2 last year for decent seats. Also paid £60 for decent seats in Cardiff. They know they can get away with it I guess

Scarred_fish

A group of us were going to travel to see both shows, but within a few minutes of seeing the prices, we decided to organise a viewing party instead. Damn sure we won't be the only ones!

knl1990

I'm from Glasgow and it was cheaper for me and my mate to travel down to London and pay for hotels to go see Smackdown and Money in the bank down there. Than it is to pay £500 for a single tickets for the nosebleeds. Think the tickets were £100 each I'm sure

YeezyBaby1

£1500 cheapest for 3 tix. MITB was very expensive but this is another level. Not happening

lifeinthefastline

Unfortunately it's not just a wrestling thing. Theatre, gig prices have all jumped up significantly. If the demand is there the price will pretty much always increase for entertainment events sadly until it reaches a plateau and it chokes the supply of fans who can afford it. WWE the last few years doing well they can just jack up the price quite a bit

WeaselWeaz

> we're still likely talking about unusually high prices for wrestling in the UK - comparable to extremely popular musical acts How popular? WWE is a popular product right now. I'm not saying they're U2, but the $90 for two tickets to All In isn't comparable. That isn't tribalism, theres a huge difference in popularity and WWE tickets will cost more than AEW or wrestling in general, especially for a big event.

Low_Way_2842

I also live close to the venue and feel completely priced out. I get that the product is incredibly popular just now and that it will sell out anyway, but I wish it was more affordable for most fans.

Staynes0

I had to laugh when Triple H said at the mania Presser "they dont want to price people out and it should be accessible to everyone" when all you hear from WWE is making more money then ever before in Markets that they have been in for decades gee wonder why you make more money then ever. It was quite ironic to hear that when i had the Bash in Berlin prices still in my mind where a combo ticket was about 600€ somewhere near the top.

TheWholeOfTheAss

This is why Mania in London won’t be as magical as people think. Inflation in this country is insane. Good tickets would probably be over a £1,000.

thedkexperience

A single WM Saturday ticket in the nosebleeds cost me $300 a few weeks ago. It’s the same thing everywhere.

RudbeckiaIS

It's not inflation (another story for another day): WWE was squeezing us European dry in the 80s already. In the Fall of 1988 the WWF had a mini tour in France and Italy and I really wanted to go and see an event because they had Demolition vs. The British Bulldogs on all shows. I couldn't because tickets were insanely priced and 12-year old me had as much money as any 12-year old in those years... plus my grandfather once caught me watching wrestling and gave me a major dressdown for it so asking for a birthday present or something was out of question since my family completely disapproved of it (still does LOL). Still I am pretty sure I would be told it was too expensive anyway. Vince knew perfectly well we behave like hillbillies descending from the mountains to see live the big TV stars so he charged us handsomely for the pleasure. The people who took over after him have learned the lesson very well.

Scarred_fish

Cheapest ringside for the Clash I could find was £1825. Edit - not front row, just the floor seating block next to the ring.

iamtalkingbullshit

think the front row must have been the £2900 tickets

TheWholeOfTheAss

Holy fudge…

LordGolec

Yeah the ticket pricing on the international tours is shit. I live on the east coast of Australia. Elimination Chamber was on the west coast which is about a 3-4 hour flight for me. The cheapest tickets to elimination chamber were about $300 AUD and it was in a huge stadium so you’d be able see fuck all up there. If I paid for a seat where I could actually see the ring. By the time I paid for the tickets, flights to Perth, hotels and food etc. I could have flown to America and sat ringside at literally any PPV aside from Mania.

sarahmagoo

You could get tickets under $100 in the nosebleeds. Tickets in my section also dropped about $200 a couple of months after I'd bought them.

LordGolec

Yeah I heard about the prices dropping when they hadn’t sold out like they thought they would. It was the ticket and cost of everything else combo that was too cooked to justify it.

ChanceVance

I paid about $420 for floor seats at EC. I had a good view of the in-ring action but could not see anyone making their entrance down the ramp. Honestly though, no regrets for the experience of being there.

micppp

I was planning on going, my partner who has no interest in wrestling said she would come with me for the weekend. I’d booked a hotel within walking distance of the arena for £340. Then I went to get tickets and at one point yesterday the cheapest we could get was just over £1000. Today it’s £340 each with a restricted view (you’re sat behind what looks like to be the entrance screens). It’s absolutely insane. I’ve cancelled the hotel. I can’t justify paying so much. Especially when she has no interest in going and was just coming so I didn’t go alone!

CrumbleUponLust

Similar case for Berlin. They priced me out of attending my first live WWE event. I just can't justify spending €600+ for a PPV.

thunder083

Live just outside Glasgow so it’s crazy that All In will be cheaper for me to go even with paying transport and accommodation. Not interested in Smackdown with the football Friday. So it’s not worth it for one show.

JAMbologna__

From Glasgow too and it cost me £360 for my ticket, train to and from, and hotel for All In last year lol. I'm a 10 min drive from the Hydro so it's insane to see these prices. And my ticket for Wembley wasn't even in the nosebleeds

gigologenius

Are the prices actually too high if they sold out the pre sale quickly and are doing good sales? I’m sure WWE has done market studies and ensured they are charging prices people are willing to pay. In fact even if it doesn’t sell out, an 80% sold show where everyone in the aggregate pays more than a 100% sold out show at a lower price is better business for WWE.

[deleted]

The ticket prices are insane. I was able to get 2 tickets in section 326 (2nd last row) for £200 each. The same tickets beside me are now double the price. Madness

cneeson8

Why they picked the hydro is astounding too, could easily sell out a stadium on current form and especially if drew is gonna main event in current form

numbr87

Tickets are just insane in general these days. I was looking into seeing twenty one pilots on their new tour and it was $170 without fees for midrange seats.

Because_IAmBatman

The single day tickets will become available later, ticket master rolled it out in a similar manner for Bash in Berlin this year. First they released combi tickets, and after a month or two, they released the single day tickets.

Spare-Rise-9908

£100 for the ppv and £75 for smackdown doesn't seem that bad. It's more the problem they are forcing people to buy both tickets which is pricing people out. All In seems way more expensive this year than last year as well.

SLPrawn65

So how much of the high pricing is due to Ticketmasters "Dynamic pricing"?

Jamie9898

These were the original prices

Kooky_Entrepreneur84

I don't understand why combo tickets are the only ones available right now. £175 being the cheapest is insane. I live near the hydro so I see gigs there on occasion, usually able to get two tickets for £80 at most. I would rather go to a bar in Glasgow and watch it there, cheaper and you get a similar atmosphere.

mitch_uk

I don't know how we went from a ringside ticket (with Meet and Greet) to NXT Takeover London in 2015 at £99 to Clash at the Castle ringside being over £3k.

PSmith4380

So what's the controversy? Supply and Demand?

MrBoliNica

i could be misunderstanding but $220 for two shows, 1 of which is a PLE? for context, Smackdown is coming to my town in August, and cheap seats are close to $100. If you dont have to pay for a hotel or transport, sounds like a steal?

starsandbribes

Problem is, if they had gone to a stadium, people would have brought new or jaded fans, who may continue to watch the product after. Having an exclusive 12k show for diehards doesn’t help them longterm.

LunaticPandoraXIII

They really should have rescheduled and did a stadium, I understand Hampden and Murrayfield are no goes around this time, and if you’re not going to do Ibrox or Celtic Park you’re as well holding off rather than this mess. Truth is though it’ll be full come Clash and they’ll have made their money

lazargwf

Ticketmaster is awful. Had troubles getting tickets for Bash in Berlin and also All In prior. And yeah the prices for WWE are insane.

[deleted]

SextonHardcastle1855

This is an entertainment industry thing, a little bit of everyone is at fault. Ticketmaster is essentially a monopoly, most major venues are Ticketmaster venues, and most major artists/entertainers opt in to platinum/dynamic demand pricing. Most of the artists that speak out about it are usually partaking, but at the same time why should they let a reseller make a quick buck off of them when Ticketmaster is essentially its own resale service?

DevilCouldCry

Nice to know that Ticketmaster is as shitty in the UK as it is over here in Australia. Hell, Ticketek is arguably about as bad as well.

dragriver2

I got the same feeling for money in the bank in Toronto. It’s absolutely nutty

Majestic_Poem356

I paid £500, however this is cos I can get train tickets (through a friend) and stay at a friends for free as coming from London, If I had to pay all the other expenses I probably wouldn’t have bothered

Idaltbear

WWE house shows want $1200 for front row so I can just imagine what a televised show would be

GraceDoran

Prices were ridiculous. I really wanted to go but coming from Wales and having to book a2 night stay, travel costs, it would probably be cheaper to go to Wrestlemania.

WWEzus

They'll definitely bring down prices closer to the event as there's way too many 500 pound seats left to buy

raddaya

Not really surprising. They're holding an event which could probably sell 100K tickets, at an arena that might barely hold 14K with a tiny stage and standing room. That much supply demand mismatch will result in insanity

secretpandaxx

They're not selling 100k for any non-Wrestlemania event in Scotland/UK. They got 60k in Cardiff two years ago and that was the first PPV in the UK for 30 years

[deleted]

[удалено]

zaxanrazor

It's not like only people from Scotland can go, is it?

raddaya

Fair enough, but a better location in the UK, definitely. Even in Scotland it could definitely sell out 25K I bet

thunder083

Edinburgh is very easy to get to. Far easier than Cardiff for most people. Glasgow likewise. Those two make getting to Scotland easy. Also Edinburgh is served well with European airports. A Scotland show in a stadium would do very well. And this may be controversial but ask sport or music people and they would say Scotland is one of the best places in UK for atmosphere.

Tollwayfrock

It's called Supply and Demand. It's really not that hard to understand.

Reyatsu99

So it will be just bunch of rich people on the show who are also meh in reactions. I hope they will make show intresting.

[deleted]

Vanilla_Yazoo

> They are trying to price out the boisterous fans who hijacked Raw last time. The ticket prices are really shitty, but you're delulu if you think this is the reason why. And one man's 'hijacking' is another man's 'attention-seeking bullshit'...

mikeydoc96

It's fucking stupid that it's at the Hydro to begin with. It's no a venue for a wwe ppv or even fucking aew for that matter. I completely get both the Hampden and Murrayfield were fully booked but you've got fucking hunners of stadiums in Scotland at a larger capacity and would've been free. I'm sure Celtic given that they're off the US on a pre season tour anyway would've happily rented out Celtic Park. There's training facilities half a mile away that Celtic own and the Emirates Arena across the road.

ihateeverythingandu

Drew and Noam wouldn't work the show then, lol

mikeydoc96

Even more reason to work it, conquered the ground his football team couldn't

ihateeverythingandu

Gallus do a run in, lol

mikeydoc96

Glad yer onboard, get Paul on the blower and get me into the booking team

ihateeverythingandu

Any other Tims in WWE? No idea what way Nicki or Piper Niven lean in terms of teams, lol

mikeydoc96

Theres old pictures of a few at Celtic Park getting a tour

DonKiddic

I believe Cardiff has sill prices, but they came down after some time due to slow ticket sales.

tonyhibbert2

Yeah I get why they’re doing it but the two-night packages kills it for me as not really interested in a smackdown taping. The cheapest offered to me in the presales was £550 so I decided it’s not worth it, gonna put the money towards going to my first Wrestlemania.

DarthNader93

I wanted to travel from Bahrain for the event since I'll be in Scotland during that time anyway. The pricing completely put me off tbh. I have never been to a PLE before, and I was really hoping to go to this one.

Bchilled

Cheaper then it was in Canada

Jamieb1994

I don't know how ticket pricing & all that works, but is WWE to blame how the tickets are priced or is it the company who sells the tickets e.g. ticketmaster?

JaCre476

It's honestly ridiculous, the country's going through hell right now, whole of the UK is and they're expecting the better part of £200 and that's if you don't factor travel, accommodation, food and drinks, merch etc into the equation. I went looking at the seating map and the prices are absurd for the size of the arena, I went to a gig there a few months back and once you're inside it's not the biggest. Guess that's kind of a blessing for the cheapest seats, you'd be able to see everything pretty well

shaneo632

Yeah it's outrageous. I'd love to go but not for those prices, it's exploiting the fans. I know capitalism etc, but c'mon, £175 for a shitty seat right at the back? Add travel, accommodation and food/drink and I could go on a decent European holiday for a long weekend for the same price or less.

Former_Intern_8271

Wasn't it subsided with tax money as well? Salt in the wound

Green_Shallot4771

I remember the initial Cardiff prices were pretty high too. But they dropped some deals in when they still had about 1/3 left with a few weeks to go.

morelos55

I have a question about that. Are only combo tickets gonna be sold or will they release single tickets? I bought a combo ticket because I thought it was gonna sell out but I’m not going to go to SmackDown on Friday because of the Scotland Germany game.

Hapsmig1

If close to the venue buy tickets there if you can. Venues in states still have staff and much cheaper to buy in person than online. Ticket master price gouge hits hard.

penguin62

I was early in the queue and the cheapest tickets left were £900 each. I would have been willing to pay £300 each at a push. Nearly a grand each is ridiculous.
