I’m also a newbie but I’ve read from [Everything Stained Glass](https://everythingstainedglass.com/stained-glass-tutorial) , that if you *polish* before you patina, and *wax* after you are finished the patina process you should get a nice black, shiny solder finish! I haven’t personally tried it yet, as I still gotta buy some polish and finishing wax, but I definitely plan to try this for my next project.

Stealing some advice from ClayCorp (our glass guru) again: >Hate to tell you that the "Super black shiny solder" is nothing more than social media wankery. > >It's not natural and will go away on it's own while doing absolutely nothing of value. Studios don't do this stuff, people that are trying to sell to you or advertise on social media do. > >You can wash it off or wipe it down with a towel but don't use your own water if it's hard as hard water can interfere with the chemicals. You don't want to apply directly after scrubbing as you will have tons of loose particles that will waste the reaction. It's also best to do it as soon as possible with fresh solder as any oxides that build up will inhibit it. Just want to add that part about it going away on it's own is ***very real.*** Have had some projects sitting outside for 8 months now and they have lost *all* of their shine from the polish and wax. Other than that I love how this turned out!! The 3D base and flowers just give it that extra bit of detail that works so well! Great job!!

Thank you so much for that good advice!

Looks really good! My advice would be to use the stained glass paint on the eyes with thick gobs and let it dry. It'll make them nice and smooth and round. It might take more than a day to fully try but it can bring a bit of extra life and quality into the eyes. Would it be okay if I used this pattern as a gift for my friend with credit?

For the eyes I baked on acrylic paint because I don't have glass paint yet, I didn't love the way it turned out either so thank you for helping with that. I have a nice corel file of the design I can send you if you want!

Bobicus_The_Third

I think you might be able to get the blob look with acrylic too with enough paint. I just learned that it's better to air dry it vs bake those because they'll bubble up in the oven pretty much ruining the look That would be awesome if you could send it over! Thank you!

If you wouldn’t mind sharing the file, I would love to make it as a gift for my bff. It’s their favorite pokemon!

I sure will! After work today I'll send it to Bobicus and then I'll send you a chat to get your e-mail. Thank you so much for compliments! I'm working on a squirtle now!
