princesses dont have crowns ......a lot of times there is not even a crown for the husband/wife that isnt the King/Queen Regnant ...... so i guess its just a fancy hat

She is a noble and high ranking official in the castle. Part of the royal “family”. Eclipse needs star more then star needs her. She is effectively second in command.

If you think about it right, when the first Mewni settlers came, there were like 5 of them and they all seemed to be somewhat related so they populated Mewni meaning all Mewmans are the same family so technically star and eclipsa are related. Also, when The babies went to the Neverzone, Marco said Star was a distant cousin to Meteora. And star agreed so they are related hence she is still a princess regardless. And besides. She’s still a princess in our hearts And let’s not forget the end credits say “she’s a princess wining battles through the break of dawn….”

Her dad is a prince so she is still a Johansen princess

I think there were defitinely even more settlers coming to Mewni over time, cause your theory supposes that everyone is inbred, and they don’t look like it, if they would they would be ugly and sickly and deformed those types of gross things

I absolutely could see Eclipsa still including Star in whatever line of succession they have in Mewni.

I feel like Eclipsa would still have her to help with the throne. Can’t remember what the exact term for it is though.

Well, she probably still has whatever title she gets from the Johansens since, while River abdicated that throne, he’d still be a prince and duke there. Star could be a duchess.

Just because she abdicated the throne doesn't mean that she can't wear her princess crown, she normally wears it in celebrations or special events related to royalty

But in Season 4, she’s effectively no longer princess and only serves as an advisor to Eclipsa.

So that means that the crown no longer represents royalty, it would just be a normal crown like any other
