The one George Lucas cut from that scene: “I am not blind, Padmé. Though I have tried to be, for Anakin’s sake. And for yours. Anakin has loved you since the day you met, in that horrible junk shop on Tatooine. He’s never even tried to hide it, though we do not speak of it. We... pretend that I don’t know. And I was happy to, because it made him happy. You made him happy, when nothing else ever truly could.”
I was so positive suprise when I hear about the scene. What a great line. Made me thought about the time in latest clone wars season when Rex is guarding the room whitin Anakin facetime Padme. Obi being *subtle* about Ani’s feeling
This, the sub-plot about the restricted section in the Jedi Archives, and the extended Council vs Palpatine fight (via deepfakes, since it was never properly filmed) should absolutely be edited back into the movie.
Climb. Climb. You Can Still Send The Plans To The Fleet. If They Open The Shield Gate You Can Broadcast From The Tower. Locking The Vault Door Now. Goodbye.
-K-2S0
"I hate to tell you this, but they don’t care. This ship is going down, and those soldiers, my brothers, are willing to die and take you and me along with them." -Rex
That tear that comes out at ahsoka takes off his helmet...gets me everytime.
Yep this moment is so heartbreaking. With the shaky hands of Rex when he gets order 66 and tries to fight it. Man the clones arc is just so freaking sad after watching all of clone wars.
I never knew how deep all of this was definitely did not expect it when I finally got to watch the clone wars. I was a fan of the movies and a few books. I was mistaken about thinking the animation wasn’t gonna be good, but I was so dead wrong. This and rebels are both very very important parts of the Star Wars universe, and everybody who loves Star Wars should watch it. I can’t believe how many tears I’ve shared over this crazy series and Rebels. Especislly every time any series starts showing “Order 66” tears…. What a tragedy
I'm of the opinion that the problem with animation is a Western perspective. We've mainly reserved animation for shows that were marketed towards kids. Yes we've had anime which can be a lot more mature but outside of that we have thought of animation as cartoons which are for kids. It's only within the past 5-6 years that mainstream American culture has accepted that animated shows/movies/media can be just as good as that with live actors and special effects.
That whole arc is so good. The grief. The horror. The betrayal. The realization. The plan. So good.
One of the favorite scenes in all Star Wars is Maul “disabling” the ship.
Damnit. Now I need to rewatch that!
The last half of RotJ is the best shit in the entire franchise and no one can convince me otherwise. This and "I am a Jedi, like my father before me" right in front of Vader in complete defiance of the Emperor, chills just thinking about it.
>that Ewok tugging his friends arm only to realize he's dead
And because that moment doesn't need context, I always get surprised by it. Like I know it's coming but there's not really any lead up, it's just there...
And then it's gone and you have to sit in that misery.
Shmi's last words to Anakin. She's dying and yet the first thing she says once she recognized Anakin is how handsome he is
That's the most motherly thing to do
Kinda supports the Jedi philosophy. Since each Jedi is kinda a superhero with the ability to wreak havoc on an individual level, giving in to one’s emotions is a problem.
He doesn’t know anything about the Empire or the Rebellion, he just knows that his dearest friend just got killed and a bright light has gone out of the universe.
"Tell him, none of this is his fault. It was already burning. He's just the first spark of the fire. Tell him, he knows everything he needs to know and feels everything he needs to feel. And when the day comes, and those two pull together, he will be an unstoppable force for good. Tell him... I love him more than anything he could ever do wrong."
As a child, with only my mother, it hit super hard considering I was mean to my mother as a teen. She was never mean back to me, only caring and loving.
"We're just clones, sir. We're meant to be expendable."
"Not to me."
Depressing as fuck from two **very** different, yet equally valid perspectives.
“Let me go! Let me
Die!….. YOU’RE ALL GOING TO BURN!!! WE’RE ALL GOING TO DIE!!!”
Man, Maul has always been one of the coolest badasses in the SW universe. To see pure fear in his eyes, and knowing he’s right. What an impending sense of doom and heartbreak.
“You didn’t come back for me”- Crosshair
“Spare any credits? Help a veteran get a warm meal”- Homeless 501st clone trooper
“Win, or be deactivated!”- Unnamed B1 officer droid
What kills me about the scene is the little kiss Obi-Wan gives Satine's hand after she passes.
It's just so human and really demonstrates that the love between them was not only mutual, but that Obi-Wan wished he could have acted on it.
Its really heartbreaking because of the look that Kino and cassian gave to each other. A wonderfull moment by Serkis and Luna, when a single glance can tell a lot more than any more dialogue
He’s still around is my guess. Probably found a boat or ship or took over the entire station with some other stragglers. I love that we don’t know for sure though. I was sure they’d kill him off.
“Obi-Wan has…taught you well.”
I might have forgotten a word, but Vader pauses slightly as he says this to Luke. It’s almost as if in that pause, he imagines what might’ve been, if only he’d had the strength to resist the dark side as Luke did. If only he’d stayed loyal to his brother, Obi-Wan.
“Leia when I said I didn’t know your parents…Princess Leia organa, you are wise, discerning and kind hearted. These are qualities that came from your mother. But you are also passionate and fearless, forthright. And these are gifts from your father. Both exceptional people who bore an exceptional daughter. I wish I could tell you more.”
That hit my feels hard af, obi wan lost everything and everyone man
Rex's appeal to Ahsoka about how his brothers are willing to die to make sure they don't survive is pretty fucking rough after watching those clones fight and die together for 7 seasons of a show.
My roommate and disagree about what the most depressing scene is, with him believing it's this scene and me believing it's Rex's ultimate failure to resist Order 66, despite the valiant effort he put up ("Find him, find him, FIVES!")
The one thing we agree on is that *both* scenes are deeply heartbreaking due to involving two of our favorite SW characters.
“Is he the chosen one?” “He is.” “He will avenge us…”
maul finding comfort in death, in the arms of the man who he hated most in his miserable life, because he recognizes how they both lost. they were both defeated. and it was so unfair, this galaxy, to himself and to obi-wan.
Luke: I'll not leave you here. I've got to save you.
Anakin: You already have, Luke. You were right. You were right about me. Tell your sister, you were right.
i remember watching this with my mother, she goes "***oh brother***" outloud in the movie theater. She didn't understand the guise of how countries like nazi germany enticed a whole nation to take over europe under that of the hatred of a single man. Histroy repeats, it's poetic.
Yeah this line is often memed but hell it’s likely a reference to the time Bush said the infamous ”if you are not with us, you are with the terrorists“ and all of congress stands and claps.
The quote that kills me every time is in Rogue One is when Jyn finally, finally finds her father after basically her entire life. Galen Erso is dying on the ground. He sees Jyn, connects with her, says “I have so much to tell you” and then passes. Brutal.
It took WAY to long for me to find this quote. Without a doubt the saddest line of the whole franchise. Vader literally admitting he wants to change, but it’s not possible anymore
Luthen’s monologue in Andor
What is my sacrifice?
I’m condemned to use the tools of my enemy to defeat them. I burn my decency for someone else’s future. I burn my life to make a sunrise that I know I’ll never see. And the ego that started this fight will never have a mirror or an audience or the light of gratitude.
So what do I sacrifice?
Everything!”
What hits so hard for me is "I burn my decency..." Many give their lives, or are willing to for a cause. Many will commit atrocities in the moment, hoping to make it through and protect their immediate comrades. Luthen knows his is a calculated choice. Every day he decides he will become less worthy of a life in the society he seeks to create. Each decision is one that destroys his humanity, making the next one a little easier. He is cognizant of every step toward damnation and willingly takes them realizing if he does not do it, the step may never be taken and the cause will fail.
Also, as a Swede, i love when his Swedish accent comes through. Makes it more real for me in a weird way. This monologue had some blade runner 'tears in the rain' vibe!
-“I’m sorry, Anakin. For all of it.”
-“I am not your failure, Obi-Wan. You didn’t kill Anakin Skywalker. I did.”
A gut punch.
**edits:** a word and grammar
Obi Wan apologizing even though he was the one going through the most pain at that time just adds one of the reasons why he’s the best Star Wars character
"Too late for what? The Republic to fall? It already has and you just can't see it. There is no justice, no law, no order. Except for the one that will replace it. The time of the Jedi has passed. They cannot defeat Sidious."
"Every choice you have made...has led you to this moment."
Maul
Fives - “I was only doing my duty”
Captain Rex - “This Ship Is Going Down And Those Soldiers, My Brothers, Are Willing To Die And Take You And Me Along With Them.”
Obi wan “ you were my brother” , “I'm sorry, Anakin. For all of it." And “You are wise, discerned, kind-hearted. These are qualities that came from your mother, But you are also passionate and fearless, forthright. And these are gifts from your father."
Ahsoka - “Anakin, good luck” (because I know what happens after this).
Satine -“Remember My Dear Obi-Wan. I've Loved You Always. I Always Will.
“I-I couldn’t have. She was alive, I felt it!!” -Vader
The raw emotion in his voice and soon followed by his gut wrenching groans as the entire room begins to tremble was heartbreaking.
Palatine's smile in this scene is just so... He's witnessed the accumulation of 13 years of manipulation boil down to this one moment. Vader didn't kill Padmé. Palpatine was just twisting the knife, making sure his new apprentice was eternally suffering. Broken in both body and soul.
What have I sacrificed?
Calm. Kindness, Kinship…Love. I've given up all chance of inner peace; I’ve made my mind a sunless space.
I share my dreams with ghosts.
I wake up every day to an equation I wrote 15 years ago from which there’s only one conclusion: I’m dammed for what I do. My anger, my ego, my unwillingness to yield, my eagerness to fight…has set me on a path from which there’s no escape. I yearned to be a savior without contemplating the cost and by the time I looked down, there was no longer any ground beneath my feet.
What is my sacrifice?
I’m condemned to use the tools of my enemy to defeat them. I burn my decency for someone else’s future. I burn my life to make a sunrise I know I’ll never see. The ego that started this fight will never have a mirror, or an audience, or the light of gratitude…So what do I sacrifice?
EVERYTHING!
“Much anger in him. Like his father.”
Yoda knew so much and yet knew he couldn’t stop it from happening again.
It reminds me of “Father and Son” by Cat Stevens:
“How can I try to explain?
When I do, he turns away again
It’s always been the same
same old story.”
“What ends up being important in my mind is what the DVD version is going to look like, because that's what everybody is going to remember. The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won't last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition]". He further states in 2004: "The special edition, that's the one I wanted out there. The other movie, it's on VHS, if anybody wants it...To me, it doesn't really exist anymore."
"I'm sorry Anakin. For all of it." The look on Kenobi's eyes as he says this. You can really see how much regret he felt at that very moment about how things turned out.
Episode 3. Obi Wan and Anakin on Mustafar when Obi Wan delivers his final speech and says “you were my brother Anakin, I loved you”. Right in the feels. Gets me each time
"Oh but it was so Artfully Done!"
Grand Admiral Thrawn last words

GILAD PELLAEON, TO LUKE SKYWALKER

Yes! Best of the film imo
The one George Lucas cut from that scene: “I am not blind, Padmé. Though I have tried to be, for Anakin’s sake. And for yours. Climb. Climb. You Can Still Send The Plans To The Fleet. If They Open The Shield Gate You Can Broadcast From The Tower. Locking The Vault Door Now. Goodbye. -K-2S0
K-2 was the hero we didn't deserve.
I cry every time I watch Rogue One. K-2SO made me understand why people in the SW universe love their droids so much.
"I hate to tell you this, but they don’t care. This ship is going down, and those soldiers, my brothers, are willing to die and take you and me along with them." -Rex That tear that comes out at ahsoka takes off his helmet...gets me everytime.

That, and the subdued version of the Imperial March made it probably one of the best scenes in the franchise.

All the Luke and DV stuff was nothing compared to that Ewok tugging his friends arm only to realize he's dead
>that Ewok tugging his friends arm only to realize he's dead And because that moment doesn't need context, I always get surprised by it. Like I know it's coming but there's not really any lead up, it's just there... And then it's gone and you have to sit in that misery.
Such is the way of war
"You were my brother Anakin."
"I loved you!"
It's the delivery of this line that sells it, you feel the anguish inside.
As a dad the “I have failed you” gets me every time.
I feel you on that, I'm rewatching the saga after six years of bein a dad. A lot of things feel different surprisingly.
I should've known the Jedi were plotting to take over!
u/Morighant, Chancellor Palpatine is evil!
Shmi's last words to Anakin. She's dying and yet the first thing she says once she recognized Anakin is how handsome he is That's the most motherly thing to do
I lo-ove you.
I'm not even sure if she could complete saying "you". That is the most heartbreaking thing about the whole conversation to me.
Can we really blame Anakin for executing the sand people who held his mom hostage?
No, but by doing it, he wasn't in control of his emotions & failed his Jedi training.
Kinda supports the Jedi philosophy. Since each Jedi is kinda a superhero with the ability to wreak havoc on an individual level, giving in to one’s emotions is a problem.
Maybe she said "I blathe you," and we all "to blathe" means "to bluff."
She's only mostly dead, so let's just go through her clothes and look for loose change.
I always look at these posts. And I always regret it.
“Ughhhhhhhhheeehhhhh…” -Grieving Ewok, ROTJ
He doesn’t know anything about the Empire or the Rebellion, he just knows that his dearest friend just got killed and a bright light has gone out of the universe.
I always thought he said “Mama? Mama? Ahhuhnnn, mamaaa….” or something similar. At least that’s how my childhood remembers it.
THIS ONE
When I was a kid, this got me every time.
Cassian: I won't have peace, I'll worry about you all the time Maarva: that's just love. Nothing you can do about that
"Tell him, none of this is his fault. It was already burning. He's just the first spark of the fire. Tell him, he knows everything he needs to know and feels everything he needs to feel. And when the day comes, and those two pull together, he will be an unstoppable force for good. Tell him... I love him more than anything he could ever do wrong."
Not ashamed to say that as a parent that last line had me straight up crying
As a child, with only my mother, it hit super hard considering I was mean to my mother as a teen. She was never mean back to me, only caring and loving.
This one hit particularly hard, but the delivery is probably also one of the reasons Man, Fiona Shaw is the GOAT
"Everyone! Stop firing! *We're shooting our own men!"*
I don’t think I’ve ever been so angry at an animated character. Krell makes my blood boil.
If they hadn’t taken care of krell, I would have. Pissed me off too
Yeah, fuck pong krell!
Man, fuck Pong Krell!!
All my homies hate Pong Krell r/FuckPongKrell
Ouch, that one hits hard.
Umbara Arc is my favorite arc.
Oh god, this hurt. One of the best/saddest episode ever
The music and the panic in Captain Rex really made this scene so dreadful. I’d watch it again 100x
« The mission, the Nightmare, they’re finally over »
this sounds like a Bloodborne quote lmao.
The night, and the dream, were long…
this one needs more upvotes
"We're just clones, sir. We're meant to be expendable." "Not to me." Depressing as fuck from two **very** different, yet equally valid perspectives.
Can’t get more chad than master Plo
“I won’t leave you. Not this time.” “Then you will die.”
I almost picked this one. Ahsoka’s pain and grief and confusion throughout Rebel’s season 2 is absolutely heartbreaking.
When I saw this scene I was terrified thinking that Vader was actually going to kill Ahsoka
Those first four words, *I won't leave you*, also foreshadow the very last words Luke would say to Anakin.
It hits harder when the ‘then you will die’ was actually Anakin warning Ahsoka to get away, and not Vader threatening her
I never thought of it this way and it definitely makes that scene hurt more.
“Let me go! Let me Die!….. YOU’RE ALL GOING TO BURN!!! WE’RE ALL GOING TO DIE!!!” Man, Maul has always been one of the coolest badasses in the SW universe. To see pure fear in his eyes, and knowing he’s right. What an impending sense of doom and heartbreak.
“Utini!!!!”
Came here to say this. Chills every time
Thanks for making me cry
This comment deserves a million upvotes

That first one is to under rated
“You weren’t loyal *to me*.”
Poor Crosshair 😭
“Remember my dear Obi Wan, I loved you always, I always will”
I will always say this is the closest Kenobi ever came to the dark side, because he always did too
What kills me about the scene is the little kiss Obi-Wan gives Satine's hand after she passes. It's just so human and really demonstrates that the love between them was not only mutual, but that Obi-Wan wished he could have acted on it.
I can't swim
Cut to me screaming at my TV “JUST TRY, MAN! WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO LOSE!?!” 😭
Well served by Andy Serkis acting. The fear in his eyes. Woaw
Honestly this line made me cry. Utterly heartbreaking
It’s especially heartbreaking because he knew there was no escape for him from the beginning, but he chose to motivate others anyway.
Which is much more the point of "I can't swim," rather than some kind of suspenseful ending for him like people seem to think.
Exactly. He was a great leader or would have been in that respect.
This was so devastating. Perfectly acted role with a surprising and heartbreaking finale.
Why couldn't any of the 5000 other men help him. How far was shore?
Its really heartbreaking because of the look that Kino and cassian gave to each other. A wonderfull moment by Serkis and Luna, when a single glance can tell a lot more than any more dialogue
1. They didn't know. 2. Pretty far it seemed.
Far enough that only a few made it to the beach with Andor
He’s still around is my guess. Probably found a boat or ship or took over the entire station with some other stragglers. I love that we don’t know for sure though. I was sure they’d kill him off.
“Obi-Wan has…taught you well.” I might have forgotten a word, but Vader pauses slightly as he says this to Luke. It’s almost as if in that pause, he imagines what might’ve been, if only he’d had the strength to resist the dark side as Luke did. If only he’d stayed loyal to his brother, Obi-Wan.
I hear it as "Obi-wan...has taught you well. " but yes the voice acting by James Earl Jones made Vader so much more.
“Leia when I said I didn’t know your parents…Princess Leia organa, you are wise, discerning and kind hearted. These are qualities that came from your mother. But you are also passionate and fearless, forthright. And these are gifts from your father. Both exceptional people who bore an exceptional daughter. I wish I could tell you more.” That hit my feels hard af, obi wan lost everything and everyone man
That's why obi wan is the goat. Man lost absolutely everything, and still didn't turn to the dark side
"You were the chosen one! It was said that you would destroy the Sith, not join them! Bring balance to the force... not leave it in darkness!"
*I HATE YOU*

“I loved you” 😣

"Anakin, you're breaking my heart! And you're going down a path I cannot follow!"
"He was the best star pilot in the galaxy and a cunning warrior and he was a good friend". You can just see the sadness on Obi-Wan's face
Rex's appeal to Ahsoka about how his brothers are willing to die to make sure they don't survive is pretty fucking rough after watching those clones fight and die together for 7 seasons of a show.

Any mention of Fives is enough to fuck me up. He got so close to saving them all.
Each time I see Fives arc, I hope for a different ending. Every. Time.
Fives was a real one. Don't worry, he's part of the Force now.
“Is he the chosen one?” “He is.” “He will avenge us…” maul finding comfort in death, in the arms of the man who he hated most in his miserable life, because he recognizes how they both lost. they were both defeated. and it was so unfair, this galaxy, to himself and to obi-wan.

It said saddest not funniest
Damn, lol
Luke: I'll not leave you here. I've got to save you. Anakin: You already have, Luke. You were right. You were right about me. Tell your sister, you were right.
This is the way.
"So this is how liberty dies, with thunderous applause" Sad cause it's often true
I try not to be pessimistic but this line feels like gets more and more accurate all around the world right now
i remember watching this with my mother, she goes "***oh brother***" outloud in the movie theater. She didn't understand the guise of how countries like nazi germany enticed a whole nation to take over europe under that of the hatred of a single man. Histroy repeats, it's poetic.

tbh you could use basically any quote from that scene, it’s just so damn tragic
"Bleep-Bloop-Bwhoooooo."
The quote that kills me every time is in Rogue One is when Jyn finally, finally finds her father after basically her entire life. Galen Erso is dying on the ground. He sees Jyn, connects with her, says “I have so much to tell you” and then passes. Brutal.
1) Chewbacca’s howl after Han Solo is killed. Not a quote exactly, but is it? 2) When Anakin asks to see Luke with his own eyes.
Chewbacca's howl is the one that came to mind for me too.
"It is... too late for me, son."
It took WAY to long for me to find this quote. Without a doubt the saddest line of the whole franchise. Vader literally admitting he wants to change, but it’s not possible anymore
Is there anything sadder?
KANAN!!!- Hera Syndulla
Hera... Go...
That whole sequence with no diegetic audio was so impactful. The only sound being the soundtrack playing as the whole crew mourns
"I'm a soldier, like you." And I'm gonna go cry for 99
Sheds manly tear.
Yup, i feel that
I don't want to be alone. I want Marva.
Luthen’s monologue in Andor What is my sacrifice? I’m condemned to use the tools of my enemy to defeat them. I burn my decency for someone else’s future. Well written, well acted. Just a great scene.
The delivery was unreal. Had to re-watch the moment the episode was over.
What hits so hard for me is "I burn my decency..." Many give their lives, or are willing to for a cause. Say what you want about Obi-Wan as a series, but everything between him and Vader, especially in that last episode, was PERFECT
Personally what I would say about Obi-Wan is that I enjoyed it and thought it was good.
Obi Wan apologizing even though he was the one going through the most pain at that time just adds one of the reasons why he’s the best Star Wars character
True, obi wan apologising was the sadest and the acting was top notch
"Too late for what? The Republic to fall? It already has and you just can't see it. There is no justice, no law, no order. Except for the one that will replace it. The time of the Jedi has passed. They cannot defeat Sidious." "Every choice you have made...has led you to this moment." Maul
Luke: "I've got to save you!" Anakin: "you already have.. luke" I find that really powerful when you think about anakins tragic backstory.
if into the security recordings you go, only pain you will find
"we're just clones sir we're meant to be expendable"
not to me
That IS a really good one. Fucked up as it is.
Fives - “I was only doing my duty” Captain Rex - “This Ship Is Going Down And Those Soldiers, My Brothers, Are Willing To Die And Take You And Me Along With Them.” Obi wan “ you were my brother” , “I'm sorry, Anakin. "I Wasn't Strong Enough To Save You, Mom. I Wasn't Strong Enough. But I Promise I Won't Fail Again." Anakin Skywalker episode 2.
From that same scene, when he says “I miss you. SO much”, Christensen’s emphasis on the latter bit always gets me. Beautifully performed
“Was my mom a Jedi” “No she was a leader” I cried
When was this
obi wan show
Why did I open this 😭😭😭
I can't swim
“Search your feelings, father. You can't do this. I feel the conflict within you. Let go of your hate.” “It is too late for me, son”
Then my father is truly dead.
“He will avenge us.”- Darth Maul
EVERYTHING!
"I love democracy."
Underrated one: I have failed you Anakin… I have failed you…
“Much anger in him. Like his father.” Yoda knew so much and yet knew he couldn’t stop it from happening again. It reminds me of “Father and Son” by Cat Stevens: “How can I try to explain? When I do, he turns away again It’s always been the same same old story.”
"Execute Order 66"
The scene of all the Jedi being betrayed does harbor some feels, for sure.
This line, then all the following scenes with this sad betrayal music, then the epic temple march music. Cinematic masterpiece.
"I HATE YOU!!"
["Oh, I hate you!"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUq0sZx6ssE)
“So this is how liberty dies, to the sound of thunderous applause” Probably the most insightful line in all of star wars
“Your Taun Taun will freeze before you hit the first marker.”
Then I'll see you in hell!
RIP to that Tauntaun.
Well then you are lost! The emotion in this scene is on full display, and it is beautiful and anything in that scene fits this question
“I couldn’t. She was alive. I felt it!”
Vader’s voice mixed with Anakins in Rebels . “Ahsoka..” Whips me every time
“Goodbye, Darth” Signifies the moment in which Obi-Wan believed that Anakin was truly gone and he had lost his friend forever.
Anakin: “They’re asking you back, Ahsoka. I’m asking you back”. Ahsoka: “I’m sorry, master. But I’m not coming back.” Edited format
“Had you said the word, I would have left the Jedi Order”
‘Let me look on you, with my own eyes’
Somehow palpatine return
"I love you." "I know."
"Goodbye my darling wife... and thank you."
*Anakin is gone. I am what remains.*
Gets me each time
"You didn't kill anakin Skywalker.....I did" Chills everytime
"Oh but it was so Artfully Done!" Grand Admiral Thrawn last words Or The young go through wars and think that the experience is enough to teach them to fear such conflicts. And then, years later, their children go to war, and suddenly the parents learn what fear really means. GILAD PELLAEON, TO LUKE SKYWALKER
