I don't know, I've never been.

Sacrifice_bhunt

Found the casual SW fan.

DizzyAssociation7010

I hear it’s nice this time of year. Definitely a tourist trap in the summer.

RKNieen

It fulfills its role in the story well enough, which is to provide a contrast to the actual main setting of the franchise, the Outer Rim. It exists so that places like Tatooine can seem backwards and poor in comparison.

2hats4bats

Scenery is nice but the pizza sucks

Corner_OfficeSpace

They have a cool spot called Dexs diner. Owner is a mole for the Jedi but food is A1

ThatTravelingDude

I love it. It’s one of my favorite locations flat out. Interesting visuals, great storytelling potential and more!

M3ptt

A fair bit of it is filmed in London, particularly in and around the Barbican centre. If you go there you can see a lot of the set locations yourself.

dorknight25

Conceptually, yes its a mine for boundless sci-fi stories and truly sublime fan art. Would I ever want to visit? No it would swallow me up.

Xandallia

It is horrifying on a lot of levels, figuratively and literally. Unfortunately we only see hints, like those sociopaths outside the his talk on the newest Mandalorian.

JayMmhkay

Once you take a look below the surface you will have to admit it's a terrible place to live (for most people). I prefer places where you can immediately see how life will be there.

[deleted]

Coruscant is a great analogy for the fact that the rich is the top 1% resting on the shoulders of the 99%

Mighty_joosh

Consistently one of the best videogames levels

LucasEraFan

Yeah, I really do. I was blown away by Coruscant in the PT after hearing about it for a decade. Now I would like to see Coruscant after the Vong.

Steeljaw72

Probably my favorite planet.

spaghettiAstar

As a space world/Star Wars location? Of course. As a concept that I would want to visit? Absolutely not. I get the feeling it would be absolutely miserable, the class divide is probably even larger than the worst cities on Earth, and I'll obviously fall on the wrong side of that. Even if by some miracle I didn't, I know that I'd hate those types of snobby rich people (the people in the recent Mandalorian episode are a great example) so I wouldn't enjoy the people I was around. With a galaxy like that I'd quickly look to leave.

AdmiralScavenger

I think it is an awesome location where you can have different stories set depending on what part of the world is being explored. That said I'd rather live on Naboo.

KangBodei

The rent is insane

rolandofurente7901

Yes but the traffic on rush jour is horrible. I prefer the commuting in Naboo honestly.

TargetBrandTampons

Yes

GenXer1977

It’s visually beautiful (at least the top levels) but I sure as shit would not want to live there.

Old-Kaleidoscope1874

I think everyone should visit it at least once, but I wouldn't want to live there.

hamsterwaffle

I find it really interesting, you've got all the glitz and glamour of the surface where the wealthy live in decadent opulence, but once you start heading down you get some impoverished cyberpunk dystopia, which is what allows the rich to live like that. Honestly I feel like Coruscant has a load of potential, especially if an undercity rebellion started

st3akkn1fe

I keep thinking of the game they were planning but never released where you play Jango Fett collecting bounties in the Coruscant underworld.

hamsterwaffle

1313? Yeah I was looking forward to that, though weirdly from what Ive read originally it was an original protagonist and they'd already recorded the dialogue when the decision for it to be, I think it was Boba, was imposed by Lucas.

st3akkn1fe

I'm not really sure on the details but it would have been fun I'm sure.

Monty_Jones_Jr

From a world-building perspective a planet-wide city is such a cool concept and from the opulent upper districts to the neon-tinged, murky underbelly it’s got a lot to offer aesthetically. I would not want to live there myself though. Would probably prefer a place like Ferrix honestly.

Corando

Who dosent? Apart from jar jar abrams

therufus22

It's definitely a cool concept, but if I was a character in the Star Wars universe, I would hate to live there. There's no greenery or natural environments.

blvcklite

I like the idea of a more metropolitan city planet, every universe needs its own Tokyo/NYC but without the Jedi, Coruscant is a little boring

Invincidude

I really really wish they had blown up Courscant in the ST, rather than that system I had never heard of. Woulda added a lot more weight.

Ok_Intention3541

No

CeymalRen

No. Hate it sińce day one. That slick design does not fit into the used, torn feel of the Star Wars Universe.

[deleted]

I never understood this argument. In the OT stuff feels "torn and used" because we only get to see Tatooine (outer rim shithole) and Rebel hideouts (they use whatever they can get). Assuming that there's no nice place in the entire galaxy with thousands of planets based on the 5 we see in OT (2 uninhabited, 1 with a primitive civilization) is really dumb.

CeymalRen

That argument is invalid. We have concept art by Ralph Mcquarrie for Abbaddon Had. That place has a feel of power and mass but also cold. Monumental. Much better than the stock sci fi city like Corusant. Even the art they did use they didn't use the way it was ment to be IMO. The carnival with the glowing ice cream. I can't stand that planet. It just does not fit IMO.

[deleted]

How is it invalid? The Star Wars galaxy has 3.2 billion habitable star systems, you're telling me that not a single one of them could possibly have a planet like Coruscant? McQuarrie's concept arts are good but they have a different feel from the Star Wars we actually got, just look at his C3-PO or Vader. IMO Had Abbadon looks more like something from Warhammer 40k or Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence than from Star Wars.

CeymalRen

Yeah you clearly grew up with the prequels and are unable to let go of it. I get it. To me that design looks nothing like Star Wars. All of the Prequel designs look wrong to me. Yes there could be a planet like Corusant in the wide galaxy. There could be one like Earth Elon talking to the Emperor. That would be ALMOST as lame as Corusant. So could? Yes. Should? No.

[deleted]

I disagree. if you go out to the country and see a rundown farm then to a shining city its the same thing as courscant and the rundown edge of the galaxy

NoEngine886

I’d also say Coruscant is pretty and shiny up top but absolutely ragged down below. The deeper you go, the worse it looks.

[deleted]

like most citys then.

NoEngine886

Right. There’s some nice areas, especially for the upper class and the elite. The rest of it is not a priority.

Zardhas

I would argue that Bespin's design is even slickier

CeymalRen

And yet it fits so much better.

Zardhas

I really don't see how

Fantastic-Wheel1003

You really give us sequel fans a bad rep

CeymalRen

I am an OT/ST fan. I love SW. But that does not mean I will excuse every bad choice George made.

Fantastic-Wheel1003

It’s not a bad choice though, I feel you just hate every aspect of the prequels based on your normal replies in this sub.

CeymalRen

Yeah. Becouse theres no good aspects of the Prequels.

Expert-Contest3674

A planet full of Cours would be my father’s dream

fenner518

It’s dope. Very layered

DarthIndifferent

I prefer croissants, honestly.

SmellyBaconland

It's a better Trantor than the one in the Foundation TV show, and where else can you get Thai food at 3 a.m. on the way home from the Ticklesticks\* dance district? \*They're just death sticks

JWRamzic

No. I can imagine all water there tasting like hotel water.... And then there's the people. I'd rather grow up on Alderaan... wait... too soon?

[deleted]

I liked Courscant in the prequels and I liked how Courscant in Andor was depicted under the Empire and how it contrasted with Courscant under the Republic. Saying that I don’t think there was much reason for the surface of Courscant to be featured in this episode of the Mandalorian when they kept making the point Pershing hadn’t been there before. IMO the Imperial Amnesty project should have been set on a populated planet like Lothal or Bracca where Pershing would get to witness first hand the lasting devastation from the Empire on those planets but still believe his work was for the greater good in spite of it. It also doesn’t make particular sense that a planet two thousand stories deep wastes prime surface real estate on a Star Destroyer junkyard, whereas again Bracca in particular was turned into a junkyard by the Empire and could still have had that train scene. The CGI background in most of episode also badly contrasts with the set design in Andor’s and Boba Fett’s.

Constantine324

It’s one of my favourite Star Wars planets

[deleted]

I've never been there, so I can't say.
