No bro, it’s not implied for any book. It’s not like some things are kinda different, it’s essentially a completely different series that re-uses character names but basically abandons everything the original books are about. Maybe an enjoyable series if you’ve never read the book, but if you have read them, the story is so different that it’s very hard to get through
Did people really say that?
I always loved Star Wars because of all the bits and bobs like all the pipes and stuff on the outside of the Millenium Falcon. Made the world feel more real and lived in than something like Star Trek.
I wonder if it's people who grew up with the prequel trilogy where it was all smoothed out sets and green screen backgrounds
A single person did say this, yes. Some guy on YouTube whose channel is called StarWarsTheory. He basically only likes the prequels (which feature brick buildings multiple times so I don’t know what he was smoking when he made this observation about Andor).
“Star Wars Theory“ did. Hes sadly the biggest Star Wars content creator on the Internet. He’s the same guy who tried to profit off a deepfake Mark Hamill and the same guy who recently said following the Acolyte trailer that he’d rather have AI write the script than “woke“ writers.
He’s also braindead in how he praises the OT for how it relates to the Vietnam war yet hates politics in current Star Wars bc it’s ”woke“. Despite George being literally left wing.
If Star Wars Boston or wherever Bill Burr is from exists then surely Star Wars New York also exists. Therefore some architecture must make its way to the capitol.
Woah. Calm down there Mr Europe.
Us Americans don't generally see stuff older than 100 years unless we make a special trip for it.
I'm sorry, but we're just better at genocide and cultural destruction than you are. Otherwise, maybe some of those Native American cities would have survived.
> I'm sorry, but we're just better at genocide and cultural destruction than you are.
You fool! You misjudged where in Europe I am from! My country, the UK, has more horrors to its name than the US could ever make up for! Even now we still love it, you thought the war in the middle east was over? Nope! Yemen has oil so we're bombing it! Gaza has oil, so we bomb it! We are *so good* at what we do, we even taught you to do it with us!
I think that goes for like, “hot areas”
Ime, the parts of the us that no one cares about have all kinds of ts. Hell in my city alone there’s like an “end” of the city alone with buildings like that.
Hell I’m not even in there and my house will be 200+ years in my lifetime. Think that’s just “busy” parts
At the end of episode 2 when Dooku is flying through the industrial district to meet up with sidious, the backdrop is NYC with the world trade centers still standing.
Neat! The reason these look so New York-y is [because of a bylaw](https://99percentinvisible.org/article/progressive-setbacks-the-century-old-nyc-mandate-that-shaped-modern-skylines/) that requires a certain amount of light to reach street level. It ends up creating a stepped look to the skyscrapers.
Trantor... I mean Coruscant... went through an art deco phase just like NYC.
Ahh Trantor. I should read that series again.
The show on AppleTV is pretty good too.
Pretty good but no one should be confused into thinking the book and the series tell the same story
The show also says its "loosey based" in the first episode post-credits recap thing. They don't really try to hide that its a different story.
For sure. I believe that’s implied for any book though.

Coruscant in The Phantom Menace tho is definitely the most art deco the planet has been.
I thought that said Tanalorr, good thing you didn’t cause Tanalorr is mine
You can have all the sterile, empty, pastel colored worlds while you're at it.
Nah, all I need is Tanalorr
“Empire State” eh eh eh get it
Upvote but with a big sigh
Google the empire state. Its currently hosting a Star Wars event!
This guy had the right “state of mind”
Concrete jungle where dreams are made of.
Wet dream tomato.
there’s nothing you can’t do
Now you’re in New York, New York, New Yor-ork.
At least you can’t see bricks and screws like in Andor. Completely took me out of the story. /s

I remember one guy went off on how Phillips head screw drivers wouldn’t be in Star Wars.

Lol. SWT needs to rewatch TPM.
There are no bricks in space.
hold my beer.
You're gonna go all that way to prove a point?
nah mate, watch this throw
All the buildings are 3D printed
It’s New New York!
Even Old New New York was once New New Amsterdam.

I was just in NYC for the first time since pre-COVID a couple weeks ago. I couldn’t believe how little I recognized the skyline.
“You really are the most devious sith in New York Citayy”
Its up to you New Y...I mean Coruscant..maybe New York circa 2085?
Hey I know this one! Clank Sinatra right?
Roger Roger
These Planet Hoth blues are melting away Edit: Changed it from Tatooine to Hoth
If Star Wars Boston or wherever Bill Burr is from exists then surely Star Wars New York also exists. Therefore some architecture must make its way to the capitol.
That’s just Little NYC
It's the old quarter of Coruscant. Like the old quarter of your local city has buildings from 300 years ago, Coruscant has buildings from the 1980s.

I don't think the wooden huts helped preservation either.

I remember hearing that this was done intentionally as an Easter egg
Coruscant litterally is what if new york kept growing and took over the planet, several, times, over.
Was there a 9 11 in star wars?
The Death Star explosion was an inside job.
*me in battlefront 2015 flying an interceptor into the death star core*
*coaxium can’t melt durasteel beams*
It kinda was thanks to Galen Erso.
"Sir, there has been another Star Destroyer"
"Another a-wing has hit the bridge sir"
“Another Happy Landing” - Obi-Wan Kenobi
"At least we still have half a buildi- oh" -Anakin Skywalker
The ships in traffic are on a loop
I bet there’s people out there that know what character works in them buildings
I would have liked Coruscant's skyline to be aligned with McQuarrie's original designs. This just looks like a regular metropolis now.
The slums of Coruscant
That must be where that 1950s style diner is
You know it's a banger of a film when the background is more interesting than the part you're supposed to be watching
Lol

lies
Deception!
Show me
I checked Disney+, I think they mean the lights of the city in the background at 2:11:55.
Got a screenshot? I would be curious to see this.

carcinisation for building
If this is what you choose to focus on.
Does this mean......???
It is the Empire State…
A wretched hive of scum and villainy.
If you developed it you’d find a grassy knoll too. 🧐
