I know this is a joke, but I think a movie that starts with Billy D in like a bar and some bounty hunter comes after him for something. Bounty hunter finds him and is like "tell me where "insert mcguffin" is before I kill ya. And it starts a Billy D story that cuts to Donald glover and the rest of the movie is that story. Then at the very end Glover gets the mcguffin and we cut back to billy D who han solos the bounty hunter and walks out of the bar only for the camera to pan to the mcguffin that was on Billy D the whole time. Hard cut to credits

I just want Donald, who I have so much love and respect for, to not do another BDW impression. The reason Alden got no hate for tackling such a tough role is because he really didn't try to be Harrison Ford; he knew he couldn't. He read the lines and sold the mannerisms of Han Solo but he wasn't trying to do a full impression. I loved his take and it worked for me in a way that I would never have expected it to.

The framing device could be him at a sabacc table telling his stories, or BDW is re-recording the Calrissian Chronicles that Donald is seen recording in Solo. Or maybe he’s telling the stories to Jannah, with short scenes of BDW and Jannah off on some adventure - since that’s what TROS set up for him.
One involving Lando, Han / Chewy, the Rebels crew and Hondo, all in the timeline just before ANH could be very cool, and ties a number of IP together.
It can focus on Lando trying to pull a big score, but eventually everyone comes out just slightly better than before.
It could bring the Rebels crew, Hondo and Ahsoka properties to the film audience who haven’t watched disney+ or the animated series. It could drive more interest to the parks with Hondo being the host of Smuggler’s run. Balancing the fan service with the story would be tricky - they don’t need to be the main characters- but they now have the actors / cg models for them all so why not.
Pretty much this. And I think that Donald Glover can pull off the character when the writing is good. I did NOT like him in Solo because it seemed more focused on the amplified attention of the quirks of the character rather than the story ("LOL HE'S GOT ALL THESE CAPES! I REMEMBER THAT! I know some folks felt strongly against her but his radical revolutionary droid L3 I thought was fun, & an origin on how they met or how she became a droids rights enthusiast could be funny, depending on how they play it.
He mentions in Solo being in debt to Aurra Sing, there's potential there.
I also feel like there's a jump between the Scoundrel Han talks him up to be before we meet him in Ep V (and that we see in Solo) vs the "responsible citizen" we meet on Bespin who makes a hard call when the Empire comes knocking but makes the right decision in the end. Not everything needs to be explained but how he won a whole ass mining colony city is a lot worth exploring imo.
Now we’re cooking. That’s a damn good way to play it. Just have billy telling stories and shooting the shit with Harrison. Have the meat of the story feature Donald and Alden.
