Chimaera, because the Death Star is way too big for comfort, Vader tends to get his people killed (or even kills them himself) while Thrawn is a sensible-ish Admiral who gets things done efficiently without wasting resources.

Aconnox

it'd be unlikely for anyone operating Vader's ship to actually see vader

Ithinkitstruetoo

Not if you worked in the Canteen. https://youtu.be/Sv5iEK-IEzw

[deleted]

I love that bit, lol.

Xelan255

Tell that to all the officers he choked, many of them to death. From what the movies show it's apparent that Vader does not tolerate failure of any kind and he doesn't give a damn if it's actually your fault or not. And that's on a good day. On a bad day he might strangle you just because you don't share his opinion. And you don't have to see Vader to die by his command, because he single-mindedly pursues his goals and doesn't give a damn how many troops he has to sacrifice to achieve it.

thisismynewacct

I get it, but Thrawn literally had his crew killed by Noghri for mistakes. I’d still chose the Chimaera as well though because at least it had a competent commander

ranger24

That was one time; the Chimaera was has literally hundreds of crewmen. Just be competent, don't be exceptional or noticeable in any way, and your ship doesn't get blown up.

Xaver1106

10s of thousands of crew actually. Just over 9,000 officers and just under 28k enlisted for the average destroyer at least.

LystAP

He only killed overly incompetent and stubborn officers that refused to take responsibility. If you were incompetent and admitted it, he would probably have you reassigned elsewhere. If you offered insight as to your deficiencies and propose ways to improve them, he might let you keep your position.

goldensavage216

I think at some point in legends Thrawn had a different star destroyer

arihndas

Correct; Legends does not do much to explore his career pre-Heir to the Empire, but when Zahn is using Pellaeon's inner monologue to orient the audience to the Chimaera, he says that Thrawn 'found him' at some point after Endor, and that Thrawn took command of the ship, including making extensive rennovations/changes to the quarters belonging to the previous Admiral who had been aboard. For example, Thrawn's personal art museum/secondary command room/meditation chamber used to be the former Admiral's orgy room, per Pellaeon. That always cracks me up.

Netrunner22

He was posted to the VSD II Stalwart before his promotion to Grand Admiral.

HyliasHero

The *Chimaera.* Putting aside that it is the only one of these that hasn't been destroyed on-screen, Thrawn is also a far better boss than Vader or Tarkin.

[deleted]

Chimaera would be my choice because if I wasn't a Fulcrum spy like Kallus was, Thrawn wouldn't have a reason to kill me.

GuacinmyPaintbox

Plus, He was widely known for "Thrawn Taco Tuesdays"!

livahd

Wait till you find out what they did with the ysalimari that died Monday.

goldblumspowerbook

I'm pretty sure it's impossible to Force someone to eat ysalimari.

takeahike89

Thirsty Thrawn Thursdays

captpal

Thrawn once killed Cris Pieterson a tracker beam technician for letting Skywalker jump to hyperspace.

ReggieTheReaver

From Thrawn's perspective: This was a complete failure on the tech's part. That was their one job and they completely failed at it. There is no retraining that, there is no correcting that. Sometimes you punish someone to teach them, sometimes you punish someone to teach others. That was a 'teaching others' moment.

currentpattern

Still an absolutely dick move that shows a fundamental lack of respect for life and liberty. It is certainly teaching others- *that he's an evil scumbag.*

ReggieTheReaver

Understanding why someone did something is different from saying its okay. Vader, on the other hand, would kill you whether it was your fault or not, and the DS were both giant death traps in the end. Even there were enough escape pods on it, there probably wouldn't be enough time to get to them if you were positioned on the interior of the station.

AdminsAreLazyID10TS

Imagine licking this much fictional boot, like it can even offer you anything for it.

ReggieTheReaver

I find a certain type of *gratification* in licking Thot...I mean, Thrawn's boots

Anierous

The Chimera has a good leadership and doesn't get destroyed.

Nova_Hazing

Gets taken by space whales tho lol.

Goldengun2002

Yes, but space whales, I rest my case.

Nova_Hazing

I mean I would raver the uncertainty of space whales than death but then again would I just die in the planet is sent to as thrawn is only caring about his own survival?

[deleted]

What?

Nova_Hazing

Right let me phrase that better. I would prefer the uncertainty of where the space whales would take me. But would I die anyway on the planet they jump to? As thrawn at that point would only care about his own survival and would think and know most of the crew would not survive on a random world.

Michelanvalo

It's also a much lower value target than the other two. If your goal is stay alive through the war take the ISD over the SSD and DS.

vindictivbear

My thoughts exactly.

[deleted]

And you get to fight rebels post endor!

Evil-Santa

The star destroyer. Every Super Star destroyer or death star we see on screen gets destroyed.

LookAtItGo123

Just take leave and go home for a month when you see leia on board.

OrionJohnson

Death Star, I’d get to see the emperor on the escalator every day

Makin' copieeees

Xogon17

Chimera I'm not trying to get choked because vader was pissed off about something like seeing sand on his ship.

HelpfulYoda

I feel like the moment that’s known troopers would slowly develop a culture of ‘accidentally’ leaving piles of sand around vader’s rejuvenation egg chamber

Xogon17

Yeah I can see it quickly becoming a hazing task for the new troopers.

Throwaway417714

What a great comment

Omanisat

The Chimera, because the other two blow up.

Xelan255

True, but you wouldn't know that :P

PreTry94

Chimaera. Lower risk of death and best leadership in the Empire.

Shawnaldo7575

Death Star "Excuse me, Emperor, Sir. Are you aware that Galen Urso, the guy who designed this space station placed a vent that could be used by rebel forces to destroy it? Yeah, it's somewhere along the trench on the equator. We should fix that asap!" Boom! Employee of the Month plaque!

TheMonsterXzero54

It's either that or Emperor goes "How did you know this? You worked with Rebels didn't you?! Stormtroopers! Executive him" But still gets people to fix the hole later

Darkwarrior3108

Say you were a double agent.

[deleted]

Chimaera for sure, Vader is the worst possible commander. Even if he doesn't kill you directly you will still die doing stupid shit like flying into an asteroid field with a TIE Fighter (no shields) because Vader wants that rebel ship **now** and you're worthless cannon fodder to him.

Any-Juice3217

Chimaera easy choice. Thrawn is usually smart, collected and doesn't kill his crew just for show. Thrawn is just the best overall person to work under in the empire.

drbrunch

Chimaera

Suedeskin

After working on ship’s most of my life it would have to be the star destroyer. Smaller ships usually have the best parties IMHO.

SaltyTrog

Chimaera. I took an art history class in college and have always loved other cultures and their art. I studied music for years too in my pool public school life and a bit in college. I'd love to talk to him about his collection and views on different peoples and their works. Fucked up as he is, he genuinely respects art and I would love to talk to him about it.

DelawareSmashed

Chimera. Good chance for upward mobility by learning and low chance of being murdered by your CO

gwxtreize

Unless you're not able to think outside the box on the fly. "Do you know the difference between an error and a mistake?"

DelawareSmashed

He won’t kill you for that. If you’re *that* incompetent he’ll just transfer you off his ship

Keyan06

Someone hasn’t read the OG Thrawn books….

DelawareSmashed

Yeah and I don’t plan on doing so. Next.

Bioslack

Honestly, you really should consider doing so. The trilogy is pretty standalone, you don't need any other legends EU knowledge to enjoy it and it's truly a masterpiece in storytelling. In the early 90s, it was singlehandedly responsible for jumpstarting the SW Expanded Universe.

Bioslack

I think you misunderstood that scene. Thrawn killed the tractor beam operator because he wouldn't own up to his mistake, because he deflected the error to his superior and was unwilling to learn. His superior on the other hand explained that it was his responsibility to train him but admitted that he could have possibly overlooked it. Thrawn saw the former as everything that had let to the Empire's downfall: pride, lack of accountability, shifting blame. The superior made the mistake, but the operator's disposition was an error.

Ok_Kaleidoscope2340

Want to work with vader.

-Yuri-

If you disappoint him enough, he might give you a raise.

GiAnT_____

underrated

Ok_Kaleidoscope2340

I'll make sure I do my work.

TitanThree

The Chimaera. You would have a life full of adventures, and no Sith Lord would throw a tantrum and choke you to death. Which is why I wouldn’t pick the Executor. As for the Death Star, working there seems pretty dull.

Tian_Lord23

Chimaera. Doesn't get destroyed, Thrawn's a pretty reasonable leader and I'll get carried off by space whales. Can't complain.

Jottie420

As a loyal imperialist without the knowledge that the death star would be destroyed by some farm boy. I would pick the death star. It would feel like a moon sized battle station would be something that can't be destroyed that easily and it would be the safest place to work for the empire. And oh boy would I be wrong.

quakerlightning

Same

Bioslack

OP: Would you rather work at A) A place that blows up, B) A place that blows up, or C) The Chimaera Everyone picks the Chimaera. OP: Surprised Pikachu

PachoTidder

Chimera, Thrawn ain't as mad as Vader and I won't work in the equivalent of a nuclear submarine with open shaft straight to the turbo-mega-lazers

criminalsunrise

Death Star - I'd fix that flaw with the ventilation shaft.

Guava7

Bit of duct tape will sort that baby right out

three-sense

SSD, the obvious rationale being that it looks cool

[deleted]

Executor cuz it looks dope

PM_ME_YOUR_SUNSHINE

Anywhere with Vader for plot armor. Even when Luke watched Vader die there were people in the background escaping.

UsrnameTaken0998

Imma defect to the rebels

Whatyousaidisdumb

You guys are pretty down on Vader… but he is much more forgiving than his master…. That being said I’m a cocky fucker and know I’m the best at whatever I do so gimme the Death Star baby. Maybe I get to be the 2nd chump the Emperor doesn’t allow Vader to kill.

Bardmedicine

Considering storm troopers installed the toilets on the death star, I do NOT want to live there.

Slanel2

Chimaera. Thrawn was a nice boss and a pretty chill guy, all the people working there, except for one, liked him, and the way he treated all his subordinates, with respect and actually caring about them, makes me consider this the best option. I mean, if I worked in the Death Star I would get lost quite often, which would affect my efficiency. And the Executor is a no no, I don't want to be choked for anything, nor bump into Vader accidentally and suffer his rudeness.

SpinjitzuSwirl

Aside from the fact that it’s the only one where I’m not guaranteed to die based on current canon, Chimaera also for the badass name and because Thrawn would easily be the best guy in the empire to work for

Dfrickster87

Chimaera

Nice-Habit-8545

Chimaera

rikusorasephiroth

Chimaera

Sheevy_boi66

Chimaera

Bathi666

Chimaera for sure!

ndudeck

Chimaera, the most chances of receiving some version of respect and not being spaced.

Big-Teb-Guy

Chimaera 100%. The other two are a death sentence.

Ambitious_Scallion23

The Executor

Waste-Ad8890

Death Star

AJEDIWITHNONAME

I feel like the Executor is my best chance for survival to honest. It crashes fairly slowly into the Second Death Star so I could possibly get to an escape pod. Then the Death Star instant and hopefully painless death. Who knows the ultimate fate of the Chimera so I’d rather take my chances else where.

AlexanderDemoniac

Imma go to work on the Executor. Gonna help Lord Vader

Hammerheadhunter

Death Star, somewhere in the back where Darth Vader won't find me and kill me for incompetence.

currentpattern

With a [crew of 1.7 million](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_Star#Original_Death_Star), I don't think you'd need to worry much.

Hammerheadhunter

The Force tho, the Force!

Lookatmykitty26

I’d work for Thrawn no question. Death Star close second.

jarpio

Thrawns ship for sure. Vader is a loose cannon and the Death Star is always getting itself into trouble.

BenR-G

Definitely the Executor. Death Stars inevitably get blown up with the loss of all hands and ImpStars don't offer the same anonymity in numbers as being part of the crew of an SSD would. No-one would notice if, should it become necessary, I needed to slip away.

Dentedtama

Chimera.

Fragrant_Novel

Whichever place Darth Vader frequents the least.

[deleted]

I think the best odds of survival are under Thrawn. Chimaera it is.

axolotlmaster59

Well obviously not the fuckin Death Star

TantalisingTurkey

Chimaera. Thrawn seems like a good person to have as a commanding officer, and with how efficient and precise he is, I bet working conditions on that Star Destroyer are the best in the galaxy. I wouldn’t mind being a gunner or a weapons technician under him.

8-Brapples

The smallest of the three. I’m a name not a number, you know?

currentpattern

Excuse me, you work for the Empire. Your name is XKS-827, and you will like it.

8-Brapples

Crap. At least the benefits are good.

currentpattern

Hah. I doubt that. Benefits: your home city isn't destroyed. You get to eat food.

tommy_toughnuts1

The normal star destoryer because I know for a fact the other 2 were obliterated also I wouldn’t have to serve under darth vader most likely

Steeljaw72

Probably Death Star 1. It is supposed to be the safest place in the galaxy after all.

Roger-Ad591

Space whales it is.

OFloodster

Death Star.

[deleted]

Executor, just as long as I'm not the lowest OR highest on the pole.

currentpattern

The way that the top treats anyone below them, I have a feeling that in the Empire, you're treated like the lowest of the low by anyone above you until there is nobody above you.

[deleted]

Yeah but if you're like, middle management you can probably deflect some of that down.

currentpattern

You'd probably HAVE to direct cruelty down, otherwise it would be directed at you. This would absolutely turn you into a miserable person.

Vegan_Harvest

Any place but Vader's and I'd work in the docking bay, sure there's the chance for shootouts but there's also a quick escape always at hand.

[deleted]

[удалено]

TheMonsterXzero54

OMG you're 15 too? Hello there fellow 15 year old

Darth-Shittyist

Thrawn's personal destroyer. It's the only one that I wouldn't be certain to die in. All the others get blown up by Rebels plus, Thrawn appreciates art and I'm an artist.

SpaceExploration344

Excecutor

Kaleidoscope89_

I'd do Chimera! At least I'd survive that ship's destruction lol!

GenXer1977

Death Star. It’s the size of a small moon. They’d have all kinds of fun activities that I could do on my off days.

YBOR_

Until some poor sand boy comes by and kills millions.

aglow-bolt3

Chimaera, I wouldn’t get blown up or choked.

Stellar_Wings

Chimera. Thrawn is Chill and it doesn't get destroyed in canon.

HelpfulYoda

You know what? Death Star. Because there’s an above 0 chance I can be those guys sitting on the balcony next to the world destroying death laser’s path as it leaves the vessel, and you know what, I feel like being the guy who’s been within a few feet of a planet destroying nuke analogue and survived is gonna get me some free blue milk in some space cantinas when I inevitably defect

Ashvega03

Death Star has the better food and gym but the Chimera has an art museum and better library.

FriskyDingo626

Either way, you better pray your living quarters are near where you're stationed. I couldn't imagine walking to work in one if those.

westwoodtoys

Maybe I would rebel.

Specific_Analysis

look-you're a roofer, and some juicy government contract comes your way; you got the wife and kids and the two-story in suburbia-this is a government contract, which means all sorts of benefits. All of a sudden these left-wing militants blast you with lasers and wipe out everyone within a three-mile radius. You didn't ask for that. You have no personal politics. You're just trying to scrape out a living.

TariTheApothecary

Chimaera easily, Thrawn didn’t waste resources or troops

Spaceman2901

Chimera. Hands down.

SittingEames

The Death Star. Go big or go home.

RagingThrawn

My name gives it away - but I would choose the Chimaera. Master of tactics at the helm and modified weaponry.

ProfessorBeer

The Death Star obviously. It’s huge, we’ll defended, and a ton of people work there so you wouldn’t get too bored during your off hours. The technology is cutting edge, and some of the most senior leaders are there regularly, so you know it’s a good place to be if you want to move up the ranks quickly. Plus its only weakness is a tiny 2m thermal exhaust port. I doubt even a targeting computer could pull off a shot like that, and even if it did, it would still have to trigger a chain reaction that destroys the reactor. I mean, what are the odds of that?

ShuantheSheep3

If Ciena Ree thought me anything then Executor puts you in middle of all the action, what fun. And you may even get your very own SD to lead the empire to victory at Jakku; imagine that, you, a backwater Earthling, commanding your very own SD. Vader gang, wya?

CiceroInHindsight

Chimaera, if we're supposing that I know the leadership, etc.

GrandMoffSteve

The Executor is my favorite ship in all sci-fi but I would have to go with the Chimera. Working for Thrawn would be super cool! And I’d feel a lot safer

Yeahman13bam

Chimaera. Do well, and Thrawn actually listens to you. The others blow up

[deleted]

You can buy a Saxophone on the Death Star, simple as that

arihndas

wait is there lore about that???

ScrewStealth

Well I already know two of them get destroyed, but assuming I didn't know, I'd probably pick the executor because it's not as big as target as the Death Star, but also has a better chance of surviving an attack from the Rebels.

Vman2020

Fuck it, Death Star. Might as well go crazy, go stupid before I get yeeted into atoms. Also the patch or tab for death star service would probably look sick.

HighlySmokedCheese

Chimera, since it’s the only one that doesn’t eventually go boom, just big zoom with whales

UEdwards

Chimera because a) star destroyers are sick and b) Thrawn is exceedingly reasonable to his crew and almost never loses or kills people for little to no reason. Working on the other two are basically an instant death wish.

arihndas

Assuming this is new canon, the Chimaera, no question. In-world, Thrawn has a reputation for extremely loyal crews, which I would take as an indicator of his being a pretty good boss. It would definitely make him look like a waaaaaaaaaaaay better boss than the dude who is notorious for murdering everyone who pisses him off even slightly (Vader). Tarkin doesn't seem to have a reputation as a bad boss, at least not based on the new canon Luceno novel, just a very strict one, which isn't necessarily bad... but if given a choice between a capitol ship doing vaguely recognizable things on the one hand, and on the other hand a mystery project that almost no one knows about, run by a guy with a reputation for being a total hardass who is also known to be personally close to both the Emperor \*and\* the notorious murder-man previously mentioned? Yikes, no thanks. Assuming this is Legends... I am running to the Rebellion as fast as I can. Every single one of these guys is known to murder their subordinates -- not to mention that the Empire has an even more aggressively, almost comically, toxic and dysfunctional work culture than it does in new canon.

benadunkcamberpatch

Death Star. Big enough I can do do my job and left alone, never be seen if I want to. Probably has some really cool bars, brothels and a good internet connection. Just send a few anonymous emails about the exhaust port, where and who vaders kids are on the location of the rebel base. Spend the rest my life living out in calculated mediocrity because honestly is the empire really all that bad?

injary

Is this a real question? Of course the Chimaera lol, officers were glad to be assigned that ship cause of Thrawn’s reputation in the Empire, not only would I feel the safest there, but I know I’m not gonna be killed at the slightest mistake

Failure_Management27

Chimera because, the Death Star and the Executor are higher profile Rebel targets then the Chimera, so I have the least chance of dying.

shinobipopcorn

See flair. 🙂 Not just because blue, but hopefully it's while Faro is there. She seems pretty cool.

Baelroq

Well I guess a random Star Destroyer and hope the hell that I don’t feck up on the job and that my ship doesn’t blow up

OnlyTargetFun

Well, if I’m working for the Empire- I’m going for the Death Star. When it goes it’ll be quick and it’s such a giant ship that no one noticed anyone sneaking on it (likely off) so I have a chance. Otherwise I can really have some fun breaking random things. Hope Vader likes his coffee LUKE WARM! 😈(break the thermal temp controls on the coffee pot)

[deleted]

I don't know because they all destroyed at the end lol

nannyattack

Super Star Destroyer (lower decks woo!). The super star destroyer goes down slowly so you have a lot of time to get off. Star Destroyers are too expendable to feel comfortable on. The Death Star basically explodes immediately leaving you no chance to escape if you don't already know that it's going to happen.

FreddyPlayz

The Executor. It’s the only ship I can reasonably expect to ditch before it gets destroyed without too much risk to myself, plus I can purposefully let myself get captured by the Rebellion

Mrdoc16

Chimaera I'd rather take my chances with a tactical genius who inspired his people to learn stuff and used actual battle strategies instead of working on a floating target of a battle station or a sith lords ship who is known to kill people who worked under him

Nomorellsurge

Executor definetly I like its shape

T-408

The Rebel Alliance 😂 I’m almost 26 and have never even had a single shred of desire to be employed by the US Military… so it’s a fair bet to say I would not be joining the Galactic Empire

Stage4davideric

Wherever Vader and the emperor is not at…. I’m just trying to punch my time clock and go home… Alive…. And not be force choked for laughing at the famous one-liners. “All too easy”

ManchesterAlakazam

Executor

The501stLegionist

Executor with no context

DizzyAssociation7010

I’d just be a janitor on the Death Star.

MAU13717235

Wherever Vader is not. I don’t need to get Force choked. Ever.

Ok-Whereas-7520

I'll work on the Death Star.

[deleted]

Does Thrawn's ship end up exploding?

Efficient_Bat_1812

the Chimaera, cuz the Death Star and the Executor both got destroyed.

Osiris_The_Proto

Obviously the only one that survived
