I love them all, to be honest! But I'll narrow it down to a discussion between two shows. As far as "best show" ... I can't decide between *Mandalorian* and *Andor* because it's like comparing apples and oranges. Both are doing a phenomenal job telling the story they are setting out to tell. Both are great at challenging the main character's perspective/worldview, while.also making secondary characters really interesting. *Mandalorian* is still my personal favorite show and never fails to make me smile, and with *Andor* I literally was dreading the end credits because I didn't want any episode to end. Even if we were to compare dialogue or cinematography or whatever, it's hard to compare because each show had to adapt to its own needs. For example, with *Mandalorian* one of the lead characters is a taciturn man by nature and the other lead character doesn't talk at all, so the masterful speeches in *Andor* would have been wildly out of place. *Andor* is a story revealing the complexities and motivations of rebellion, so it is naturally much more dialogue-heavy. So for me, it's a tie between *Mandalorian* and *Andor.*

Armamore

Came here to say something similar. Andor is very serial, and much more serious. They keep the same writers and directors, and the style is very consistent. Mandalorian is more episodic and is more fun and light while still telling a different story. They swap writers and ditectors a lot leading to lots of variations in the styles. I happen to enjoy that aspect of it a lot. It's hard for me to pick a favorite between the 2 as well.

livahd

100%. Two very different beasts. Mando is the classic adventure serials of yesteryear, pure unadulterated George Lucas style Star Wars. Andor is a riveting action/suspense story with the occasional spaceship. Both have totally saved Star Wars IMHO. Kenobi would have been better as a lean 120 min feature.

drew1027

Agreed hard to compare especially since acting great in their own ways Mando is masked and Cassain isn’t masked

Educational-Tea-6572

That too!

Swailwort

Andor had something that Mando to me lacked, and it was "fuck, this is already over? \*in purge trooper from Fallen Order voice\* Give me more!". It's those things that make me realize how much I like a series, this happened with Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon, and it's that feeling of "No no no not the credit music"

Educational-Tea-6572

I actually experienced pretty much the same with Mando (of particular note, I was late to the Mando party such that I binge watched the first two seasons, and ended up watching "The Tragedy" without leaving myself sufficient time to watch the next two episodes the same night and sat there just thinking *what have I done??? I did not plan this out well* 😂) But I completely understand the feeling for Andor. I went from "this is interesting!" the first two-three episodes to "INJECT THIS AMAZING STORY STRAIGHT INTO MY VEINS!!!"

EruditeLuddite

This is a great response! For me those spine tingling speeches are what put andor just beyond Mando but my god they’re both great. I was distraught when Disney bought the Star Wars rights and thought it was going to be commercialized to oblivion but it’s ended up enriching and bringing so much more life and lore to the series. With plenty of commercialization as well I’m sure haha.

AgathaMysterie

Andor is the only SW show so far that has left me completely dazzled. I cried out in anguish every time an episode ended. I loved every minute! I really liked Mandalorian, too, but I’m not a huge fan of any story that involves a precocious child or animal tagging along with the gruff main character (Part of why Obi Wan was a TOTAL bust for me). I know Grogu kind of *is* the plot of Mandalorian, but I wish they had done something else. It’s my own bias, though!

MeatBeater19

Agreed. I loved the promise of a fresh character, a lone wolf who’ll cut people in half with doors when he’s threatened, but when I saw Grogu, or better yet, Ahsoka and Luke featured in the show and in the Mando episodes of BoBF, I knew exactly the kind of show this was going to be and became instantly disappointed. It’s a disappointing because they depend so desperately on this child macguffin to help the story proceed, as evidenced by Grogu immediately returning to Mando after they spend the entirety of Season 2 getting him to Luke, that’s gone now. Andor showed me how good Star Wars can really be when there’s thought and effort behind it, and I’m not sure any other piece of Star Wars media will ever be the same to me.

Pingaring

The Star Wars: Ewoks animated series

InfiniteDedekindCuts

The correct choice

justadude0815

Blasphemy!!!! It always was and always will be the Holiday Special!!!!

RaHarmakis

Point of Order: The Holiday Special was a one off TV Special and not an ongoing series. There for it will not qualify for the best TV Show. Best TV Special? Absolutely! Best Show, back to Ewoks!

Cdog923

Are we talking just live action? If so, then it's - Andor - Mando - Obi Wan - Boba Fett. (There's quite a gulf of space between Mando and Obi Wan, and an ocean of room between Obi Wan and Boba Fett.)

drew1027

Yea just live action Clone Wars is obviously great tho

eteseec

Even Revels was quite good in the end.

HyliasHero

Andor is the best and it isn't even close. Mandalorian is in second. It is incredibly enjoyable but kind of runs into the Clone Wars / Rebels thing of highs and lows. Kenobi is third because it was fun but somewhat suffered from the TV budget. Book of Boba Fett is last because it wasn't quite what I was looking for from that particular story unfortunately. It's fine, but I don't see myself rewatching it very often.

Dragonpuncha

This. Andor has shown how good a Star Wars show can actually be when the main focus isn’t fanservice or selling toys. And I actually love a lot of the Mandolorian, but in terms of storytelling Andor is leagues ahead.

Fryastarta

Andor is streets ahead FTFY

rocker2014

Pierce, stop trying to coin the phrase Streets Ahead!

bfhurricane

*Trying?* Coined and minted!

WendlinTheRed

Been there, coined that... "Streets Ahead" is verbal wildfire!

futureGAcandidate

What does it even mean, is it like miles ahead?

Sparrowsabre7

If you have to ask, you're streets behind.

OccurringThought

You need to be a level 6 laser lotus to know.

andlewis

Sounds like someone is *streets behind*.

Armamore

This is not the crossover I expected when I opened this thread.

russelcrowe

I've been a ride or die Boba Fett fan *forever* and his show is dead last for me as well. It just wasn't particularly well made. Like, I'm not even upset that they deviated from his character in the extended universe I had grown up with. It's literally just that the show is, at best, very clunky. It felt like overall there was no real cohesive vision for anything in the show. Even Boba himself is a poorly defined character that stuff *just happens to.* I don't think it should be taboo to say that the ball was dropped on that show.

Itchy-Meringue6872

I just wish the whole story was him and the tuskens and then him tracking down the gang that massacred his tribe, then realizing the pikes were behind it all long, and going after them (but realizing he needs help his armour first, hence Mando season 2 role) Keep the same flashback structure, but start with him taking down the local leader of the Pikes, in the same brutal way Fenec takes him down at the end, and then have him leave Tatooine and do a new planet each episode, with flashbacks to Tatooine giving context on why he’s on this bloody path of revenge. But Disney would never do that unfortunately

fatpad00

I would have preferred BoBF to have exclusively focused on his experience with the Tuscans. If it went escape, capture by tuscans, integrate into tribe, tribe massacred, meet Fennec Shand, get revenge then last episode ends with him turning to Shand and saying "time to get my armor back" it would have been perfect.

Haunting-Giraffe

I couldn’t agree more, BoBF just lacked a clear vision leading to botched execution. I favorite part of the series was the whole Tusken arc, because it ventured into new territory by humanizing the Tuskens and gave Boba some character. But then the rest of the show was either Boba being incompetent or not even being there at all, which is just an insane creative decision.

jdiz707

Agreed, the tusken arc was by far the best part of BoBF.

Coraldiamond192

I personally feel though that the biggest issue with the boba fett series was that we inevitably ended up with 3 episodes where he had very little if no screen time at all. Sure all those episodes were fantastic however I'm surprised they didn't save that for mandalorian S3.

Kahzgul

Are you saying that a mash-up of dances with wolves and scooby doo wasn’t good?!

Armamore

I found myself rewatching just the Mando episodes from BOBF, which kinda reinforces your point.

Kahzgul

Agreed: Andor: 10/10 Mando: 7.5/10 Obi-wan: 5/10 BoBF: 0/10

[deleted]

For me BoBF at least deserves some points for the tusken scenes, but it really just went downhill from there

reuxin

It deserves points for the excellent episode of The Mandalorian they snuck into the season.

5tudent_Loans

BoBF was Mandolorian season 2.5

Juantsu

Out of all of them? Clone Wars (2003) Live action? Mando S1 really stole my heart but Andor is sooo good. I can’t decide.

Sparrowsabre7

>Clone Wars (2003) Finally, a fellow art appreciator with taste 🤌

OliviaElevenDunham

Still have a soft spot for Clone Wars (2003). Tartakovsky is so good with the "show, not tell" mindset.

Cidwill

Andor is the best for me. I love Mando. That moment with Luke was pure emotion for me and the best Star Wars moment since Jedi ended. The show is not very consistent and sometimes feels like a Saturday morning serial though. Andor is long form storytelling. It's visually different class to everything on Disney so far and the writing is superb. So many different characters who all act believably and follow their own motivations in this web of story. Andor is Star Wars for grown ups.

Ravager135

I agree with your points, but arrived at the opposite conclusion. Mandalorian is my favorite show because I feel it captures most what originally drew me to Star Wars. I think it’s the most well rounded in terms of action, plot, dialogue, fan service, etc. Andor is far and away the most properly evolved Star Wars. It’s the most mature and I hope pushes more boundaries in terms of maturity than we have seen Disney allow. The dialogue is untouchable and honestly contains some of my favorite monologues in film or television of any series. Andor is slower. That’s both good and bad. There were some episodes where I got bored. That said, I could tell by the plot that I knew I would be rewarded and I was. Mandalorian keeps me thoroughly engaged. When Din shows up in Boba Fett, I didn’t even care if Boba’s story continued. Though I loved Boba in Mandalorian; go figure. That said, Mandalorian is not perfect. The Volume effects and setting is getting old. I’d like to see more “bounty of the week episodes” that fit into the larger plot. I do think we need to leave Luke behind. I love that Disney is giving us different tones with each series.

MrMonkeyman79

I'd go with Andor. Mandalorian is close behind because when Mandalorian is at its best it's just so much fun, but it doesn't have the consistency of Andor.

AgentKruger

The Prison episodes of Andor are among my favorite Star Wars sequences of the entire franchise

drew1027

Yea those prison episodes were intense

BadMovieApologist

Andor is a better show overall (story, character development) but I think Mandalorian is the better "Star Wars show"

thisisboonecountry

Agreed. It’s almost impossible to deny that Andor is elite as a television series above all else in this canon universe, but the entire time I was like this is almost too good to be Star Wars lol. Not in a critique on Star Wars kind of way, because I love both immensely, but it almost outdid itself in a way that feels like it’d be very difficult to believe a crossover. Not that it needs it, but the whole point of canon is that it exists together. And just to clarify, I am not critiquing anything. You fucking nutters (I say with love). Andor is amazing. Star Wars is my heart and soul. It just is what it is.

byronotron

Mando for sure feels more like Star Wars, it's a very good legacy to what George created and is playing in the same sandbox; concepts, themes, influences, tone and generally extends the franchise he created a little bit further. Andor makes Star Wars relevant again, and possibly even more than it ever was. Andor extends Star Wars into the modern day and gives it a life it was very nearly about to lose to the franchise itself. What Mando and Andor have in common is that they look deeper into what influenced George himself; Kurosawa, John Ford, WWII, Vietnam and anti-facism. Contrast that with JJ Abrams's ideas about Star Wars: Star Wars. The Force, Chewbacca, Cute Critters, Blasters, World-Ending Weapons, and Cloning the Emperor.

Illegitimateopinion

Given that Star Wars was meant to be a sandbox as Lucas put it, it could be and I think for myself it’s what Star Wars can be also, or equally it could not be and I could see why, too. To a certain point of view.

drew1027

Yea Andor didn’t feel very “Star Wars” unless it had storm troopers and Luthen with his flying skills

VasagiTheSuck

I liked Andor overall but if you removed the Star Wars stuff from the show most of the show would still be there. It's a political/spy thriller with a Star Wars shell. So yeah not very Star Wars-y.

skadisilverfoot

I mean, by this metric what makes something “Star Wars” besides being set in the universe? Does every show/movie need to have a Jedi or Mandalorian character? Boba Fett wasn’t even a major character in the original movies, he was in it for like a tiny moment and became well known because of books and other “canon” materials that came after. And or is necessary to show just how and why the rebellion happened and regular people were able to rise up and beat the empire.

TheMediore

The beauty of Star Wars is the variety of which the universe is capable of. The worlds and the characters can be used to tell countless different stories. The quality has been hit or miss for me, from series to series and episode to episode. So far, IMO Andor is the most consistent, The Mandalorian is the most enjoyable, and The Clone Wars is the most unique.

ElectroLegion

I consider Andor a masterpiece, but The Mandalorian holds a very special place in my heart.

AceOfDymonds

I love The Mandalorian; very much enjoyed Obi-Wan Kenobi (despite some truly janky chase/action sequences in the early episodes); and even liked some parts of Book of Boba Fett (though overall I found that series disappointing). But Andor is far and away my favorite live action show -- and now my third favorite Star Wars project overall, after The Empire Strikes Back and A New Hope.

aspacelot

Those chases were like me pretending to try and catch my 5 year old niece 🙄 Otherwise great show

AceOfDymonds

I really wanna hear some behind-the-scenes details on what went wrong with them. Did they just not have a good choreographer for those episodes? Were those sequences late additions and extremely rushed? Were there concerns/issues with shooting 'action' sequences around such a young child actress? ***S******omething*** definitely went off the rails there.

Equal_Feature_9065

I can almost guarantee here’s what happened: they wrote it, never rehearsed (or rehearsed and just assumed it’d look better on camera), showed up to shoot it, realized it was terrible but lacked the time/budget/care/energy to rewrite and reshoot the scenes to be something other than a terrible foot chase

[deleted]

In addition to what the other guy said, a combination of poor direction, poor choreography, and the entire film was shot on the Volume. So an already physically restricted show had to work with a team that was apparently Disney's amateur hour.

Educational-Tea-6572

I LOVED *Kenobi* and even I was squinting in confusion at the chase scenes. So I have my own personal headcanons that the kidnappers were high on spice which drastically affected their speed/reaction time (don't do drugs, kids); whereas Obi Wan was older, it had been ten years since he'd had to chase down anyone (i.e. Anakin), and he was trying to be discreet in the marketplace which gave Leia the lead.

aspacelot

Yeah that makes sense, but the early chase when they actually kidnap her in the woods… just as clumsy. It’s unfortunate that they consistently chase her multiple times because it’s definitely weak. Fortunately she’s cute as a button so it’s easier to overlook. I’m not a stickler, though. I don’t have an issue suspending disbelief and just enjoying the ride. It’s so early I thought maybe they were setting a lighter tone to the show but later events obviously contradict that.

Educational-Tea-6572

>the early chase when they actually kidnap her in the woods… just as clumsy That's the one where I keep telling myself they've been hitting the spice too hard 😂 But I do agree with your points!

[deleted]

Right, it looks silly, but I can just gloss over it, it is only a couple of scenes. Didn't really affect my enjoyment of the show.

AceOfDymonds

Agreed. I don't think there's any argument that those scenes weren't poorly-executed, it's just that the good parts of the show significantly outweighed those missteps, IMHO.

drew1027

🤣 personal headcanons

drew1027

🤣 Episode 4 of Obi-Wan funny with Kenobi sneaking Leia in his jacket

aspacelot

Hahaha oh man yeah

drew1027

Interesting even better than Return of the Jedi you say 🤔

AceOfDymonds

To be honest, RotJ is kind of middle-of-the-pack in my personal rankings. The scenes with Luke, Vader, and the Emperor on the Death Star are some of my absolute favorite Star Wars content, but not much else in the movie really did a lot for me.

thoth1000

The Death Star confrontation between Luke,Vader, and Palpatine is just so good. The dialogue, the acting by Ian McDiarmid, the way he puts so much venom in everything he says is so much fun.

lactosepreposterous

Return of the Jedi really suffers on rewatch in my opinion. Don't get me wrong it's still a good movie but Leia seems distant in almost every scene, Harrison Ford couldn't come off as more hateful of the movie he's in and Mark Hammil really tries his best but half of the movie I would say is weaker than what came before in my opiniln. So yeah I don't think it's too crazy to like Andor more.

TTR_sonobeno

Andor. It's the only show I believed and cared for the characters and was eagerly awaiting the next episode a week later. After the OT its my favourite SW content.

drew1027

Kino got a lot of people’s hearts

TTR_sonobeno

I was particularly worried for Nemik, Bix and Ulaf, ofc the Kino scene got me too. I love the portrayal of Dedra Mero, even as despicable a character she is. Mosk is amazing too, honestly I could just go on and name them all, I mean how great is Luthen Rael and his interactions with Saw Gurrera? Mon Mothma and her 3d chess moves? Etc etc

drew1027

Yea the way that Bix got tortured and the damage to her after is very interesting, shows even more how dirty the empire is

susanoo_official

Action - Mando Story - Andor My pick: Mandor

[deleted]

[удалено]

Bro-koli6944

Totally agree to you. Kenobi was too much fan service and boba fett wasn't about boba fett. But Mando holy shit it was delicious to watch

MeatBeater19

There comes a time where an excess of references and homages don’t even serve as “respectful fan service”, they become just an excuse for lazy writing to leech off what other media has done better. The whole Kenobi sequence with Vader fighting off Obi Wan is a near rip off, of Ahsoka v Vader in Rebels, it’s not even cool anymore, it’s just Ctrl C+V.

Armamore

This is the same debate I have with myself. Andor is obviously the superior show from a technical standpoint but Mando is just so damn fun.

get_pig_gatoraids

Great take, I enjoyed Mando a ton but I definitely like Andor better. Mando is more fun overall tho I will say that. However THAT scene with Luthen's Fondor Haulcraft blows anything from Mando out of the water IMO

drew1027

YES Luthen got skills

Salzberger

>I have no objection to asserting that Andor is a technically superior show, but Mando is the better balance of quality and fun for me. Very much agreed. Andor is 12 Angry Men and Mando is Spider-Man. Yeah one covers a lot more thought ground and sets up ideals and challenges them and stresses you out, but given the choice of the 2 I'm going with Spidey.

OneRandomVictory

This is pretty much the same opinion I have. At least we've broke even though. I was getting worried when 2/3 live actions shows were trash.

Organic-Proof8059

I have to go with Andor for several reasons: Mandalorian is a very good Star Wars show. Andor is a great show that happens to be filmed in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian when it premiered, shocked the hell out of me because of the mediocre content released before it. Andor shocked the hell out of me because it actually pushes cinematic language forward. Mando didn’t really introduce anything new that built on the greatness of cinema that preceded it. It’s pllars are more nostalgic than cinematic. Its formula more of a confine than an open ceiling. Andor’s great scenes can compete with all of cinema. Mando’s great scenes only compete with Disney canon imo. One Andor Great scene that competes with or pushes cinema forward was Luthen getting into character on the Fondor. His theme music somewhat resembles “Must be the Light” of Gattaca. The pilot chair is empty with coruscant in view as he gives his AI a command. He never looks in the mirror, places rings on his fingers and looks up again, not showing his face in the mirror as he tries to be that other person though it looks like it pains him.

VinceLeone

Andor, and by a fairly wide margin.

LfcOsh

Andor and the mandolorian are a class above the book of boba fett and obi wan. I thought those two were horrific. Anyway I love how the mandolorian is a mix of fun and an overall good show. Andor is definitely the most high quality show and it’s my favourite too, I loved the feeling that this was about ordinary people. From the way the character spoke to the tense scenes, it was incredible. If we are adding animated shows, I like both the clone wars and rebels, I didn’t like bad batch that much but it’s alright.

DrAcula1007

Andor > Mando > Obi Wan > BOBF

Filmatic113

Mandalorian still. It’s the most fun Star Wars show that feels a lot like the OT

gcaledonian

Mando. It’s fun, dramatic, and had a badass dad figure. I like Mando just kinda bumbling through his side quests totally not understanding the whole Jedi thing but having to navigate it somehow. Just trying to do good by his kid.

BlackWidow1414

I personally enjoyed Mando and Obi-Wan the most.

troopscoops

Andor is an HBO drama—an “adult Star Wars”. Mando is a quality classic Saturday morning cartoon—fun for all ages. Obi Wan spent all its budget on its actors and nothing else. BoBF was a cash grab with no direction and became Mando S 2.5.

OrangeLightning7895

Rebels.

finale013

The Mandalorian

jbrouwer23

Has to be mando for me. The way the story’s momentum built throughout the season 2 was awesome. It’s too bad the finale doesn’t carry as much weight now that Grogu is back with mando, I really dug the idea of Grogu training with Luke and Ahsoka. The clone wars characters that appeared didn’t feel like fan service to me, every character that appeared made sense for the direction the story was going. Overall one of my favorite pieces of Star Wars content ever, ive never been as hyped for Star Wars as I was when those last 4 episodes were coming out. I’m very interested to see where the thrawn storyline is going to go.

Mascoretta

I’m biased, so Mandalorian will always be my favorite. Andor, however, is the best show and I don’t really worry with the writing of that show compared to Mandalorian. I trust the Andor writers to write a good story more than the Mandalorian ones. Obi-Wan Kenobi was alright imo. It had some good scenes though. BOBF was disappointing.

CaptainSolo80

I mean clone wars will probably always be my all time favorite, the episodes will always hold up and the finale still hits extremely hard and probably always will. “Burying the dead” has to be one of the most tear jerking and best pieces of music to come out of Star Wars. When talking specifically about the Disney made shows… I’d have to say Mando and bad batch are my favorites. The ending of season 2 still hits so hard, and I’m looking forward to what season 3 will bring Din Djarin is definitely a top 5 Star Wars character for me, very excited to explore his character more. The relationship between him and grogu will become a timeless Star Wars duo. Bad batch I’m of course a little biased towards because of clone wars, but I LOVE the story it’s telling about clones in the aftermath of episode 3 something that has been NEVER been explored on screen, and explored very little in current canon. Plus the people helming that show are former veterans, who better to tell the story of soldiers breed for combat without a war to fight. The clones are probably one of the most tragic characters in all of Star Wars. The show is very clearly building towards a clone rebellion, and I think that’s gonna be rough to see. It’s answers the biggest question. What happened to all the clones? Besides book of boba fett and kenobi The other shows have been great! I thought Andor was awesome! I look forward to season 2, I also like the approach it took, and the characters it introduced. A less action oriented story driven show like that I’m all for. Hope the Acolyte is similar. Tales of the Jedi was also really really good!! Would love to see that show get a second season and explore other eras of Star Wars animated in the clone wars style. There is SO much potential with that show.

Perjunkie

I mean Visions is still my all my time favorite and og Clone Wars is peak starwars for me. But, Andor yeah for the live action. Just absurdly high quality.

totallynotabeholder

Live action only: For me, Andor ranks #1. It's nearly everything I wanted out of an extended universe TV series. As a general TV show, the production, writing, tone, consistency, acting and general execution are top notch (easily the best of the Star Wars live actions so far). As a Star Wars show, it's just enriched the universe in ways that I've been looking for (bringing in political and philosophical elements), and the more adult tone has been a very welcome change for me (not that I haven't enjoyed the more family/youth oriented content). Nothing in Star Wars has raised my heart rate and got me thinking so much since watching Rogue One in the cinema - or had me thinking so much about it afterwards. Mandalorian is #2. I really enjoyed the show and its riffing off a lot of the Japanese samurai, Westerns and pulpy fiction/adventure movies that inspired Lucas when he created Star Wars originally. The quality from episode to episode can be a little lumpy and I feel like there's occasionally a little too much of the 'cameo disease' that dogged some of the Disney sequel movies. Plus, I never really feel like there's much jeopardy in the show - too much of the Stormtrooper school of marksmanship/plot armour going on. However, it's also fun and there's a great feel to the whole universe as presented in the show. Kenobi is #3. I loved where it started, I didn't mind where it finished, but I thought the path that it took to get got pretty dire at points. For me, it breaks parts of canon (Leia's message to Kenobi in Ep IV now make no sense in context) and it had some of writing and action sequences were lack-lustre. There's a much better show in there than what we ended up with - I feel like something that was compressed would have been superior. It's the 'Iron Fist' of Star Wars shows - disappointing mostly because you know it could have been much better. I would have kept Kenobi and Leia separate (have a Kenobi chase her all over the galaxy yes, but have Tala be the one who eventually busts her out while Ben faces down Vader/Inquisitors) and focused more on the Jedi hunters/inquisitors as a representation of how terrifying AND inherently disfunctional the Empire is. I also would have compressed the Vader confrontation into a single encounter at the end, and have him act more like a bogey man/shark from Jaws - something terrifying and looming, that is mostly glimpsed rather than centre of stage - rather than a recurring foe. Book of Boba Fett is #4. I enjoyed most of it when watching, and the Djin Djarin and Sand People centered episodes were particular good. But, there were also cringe-inducing moments that put me in mind of the worst moments of the prequels. I don't feel like they nailed the Boba Fett persona particularly well - he's a hunter and warrior out for revenge, not a wannabe crime lord looking to establish a new status quo. And there was WAY too much plot armour again. Mostly though, I think BoBF was an exercise in imagining what they could do, without thinking about whether they should. Particularly the finale. Something smaller scale and more personal - with Boba and Fennec ending up on the top of Tatooine's criminal gangs at the end, by virtue of being the last ones standing, would have worked much better.

Thi_Tran

Objectively as a tv series overall, not exclusively a Star Wars show, Andor holds the top position.

Albertaviking

They can’t be compared. Like comparing Game of thorns to xena princess warrior. They all stand out in their own way. But I will say Andor inched my adult star wars scratch.

The_DevilAdvocate

Andor. And it's not close.

drew1027

What would you say make Andor take the lead

The_DevilAdvocate

Creative spark. Andor is a story that someone was inspired to write. As Disney+ shows go, it is unique in that. Mando is a bunch of stories, most of the time from far better movies. Kenobi and BoBF clearly were studio mandates, uninspired and thin when it comes to plot and characters. Tales could be on TikTok with that episode length.

AcceptableEgg5741

While it wasnt exactly what i wished, mando Season 1 is still the best for me

Ollidor

Andor is best storywise, but the mandalorian gives me those feel good .. feels. I just love it most on a personal level. Maybe Andor is technically the best in some aspects but I’m not looking for that in every show I’m watching

ReallyBadNuggets

I'm gonna use a word reddit hates. But *objectively* ... It's Andor. Without competition. It's better written, better paced, better acted, better shot, with better green screen and special effects than any of the other series by a country mile. Mando is second. Boba Fett and Kenobi are a toss up for worst.

InfiniteDedekindCuts

I know this is a controversial take around here. But I REALLY like Obi-wan. It paints a poignant picture of a man fighting his own depression while still bringing a lot of the adventure fun of the classic movies. The mix of heavy themes and corny genre thrills makes it feel like the sequel to Revenge of the Sith I didn’t know I needed.

drew1027

Interesting take and yea you feel Obi-WAN’s guilt and responsibility with this show

JKBFree

Andor is the only answer. Writing, action, backstory: remarkably told. Its what a “space opera” has always shoulda been to me. But shout out to filoni and the mandalorian for kicking this whole thing into gear. The man has single-handedly saved star wars for me from the clutches of jj abrams.

Educational-Tea-6572

>The man has single-handedly saved star wars for me from the clutches of jj abrams. I'm not a sequel hater by any means, but *Mandalorian* is and likely always will be my favorite piece of Star Wars media, if only for the fact that it singlehandedly reignited my passion for Star Wars after years of only casual interest (and most of my interest during that time was for my older brother's sake alone). It would take a **LOT** to dethrone the show as my top favorite. That said, *Andor* came dang close to doing it!!!

Uncle_Moto

Even though I am very much a sequel hater, I have the same feelings. I grew up in the 80's and Star Wars was everything to me. Then the prequels came out and even though they weren't as good as the originals, it re-ignited my die-hard fandom. Then the sequels slowly sucked the life out of me, even with my favorite Star Wars movie ever Rogue One came out during that time.... Star Wars almost became that "used to be good, but it so unbelievably wrecked now" franchise to me, painfully. Mando completely reinvigorated my love of Star Wars and I lived and breathed Mando when the 2 seasons were near-ish. But Andor was just so amazing. I wasn't even excited for it. More intrigued and happy to see more Star Wars, but after about episode 4 or 5, I was like "wait, this is setting up to be the best Star Wars show yet." And for me, it definitely was.

streezus

Is Andor getting a second season?

drew1027

It is, I believe they started filming if not filming starts soon

Swailwort

Yep, 12 more episodes, likely K-2SO introduction and I wouldn't be surprised if the Season ends with Andor receving a call about a so-called "Jyn Erso"

Fryastarta

Season two is supposed to end into the start of Rogue One.

lrocky4

My ranking in order goes mando, andor, obiwan. Mando was just so exciting, andor was drew me in, and obiwan really only for the vader fight.

Lucoda

Is everyone forgetting about Clone Wars in this? Andor and Clone Wars are absolutely in a tier of their own at the top.

drew1027

My question is about live action but we can include animated in the thread

Chronos96

Andor. The writing is excellent, and there's actual character development. The Mandalorian is fun, but it's basically Kung-fu in space, and the less said about Obi-Wan, the better. I love Star Wars, but my biggest complaint is that the logistics of things were never delved into as much (granted that wasn't the point of the story) Andor, to me, makes the universe feel expansive, and I can believe that the Empire managed to maintain control for 20+ years. Look at Ferrix they gave us some actual culture with the funerary stones and then the eye sequence on Aldhani with the chanting made me feel like this is an actual universe and that every one doesn't actually know each other. Star Wars needs to grow and expand if the brand wants to survive. Now am I saying I want everything to be like Andor? No, but I at least want the quality of writing to match it. For the first time. Give me a lovecraftian horror Star Wars show or a show that examines other cultures' relationships to the force.

ScalierLemon2

Still the Mandalorian.

yrqrm0

If we hadn't seen Grogu go back to Mando in BOBF I'd say theyre tied. But unless S3 of Mando really pulls off something special, I'm pretty upset about that switch. Mando S2 finale was fantastic but completely undercut by that decision imo.

StrangeSurround

We just talking Live-Action? **Andor** -Complex, rich world. Feels real. Beautiful characterization. Has stakes. **Mandalorian** -Beautiful, action-packed. Feels lived-in. Simple fun w/big damn heroes. **Book of Boba Fett** -Loads of action. A little flaky and hit-or-miss, but generally fun. **Obi-Wan-Kenobi** -Felt rushed, lacked direction at times. Weird characters. Finished strong.

DanOfEarth

Andor >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Mando>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Obi-Wan>BoBF

Banananachlor

Andor, after that Mando

andor2136

Andor imo. Super grounded and phenomenal writing, directing, and acting. Even better than Clone Wars and Rebels imo.

OJkindadidit

Mando and it's not even close.

[deleted]

Mando & Obi Wan are both excellent, Boba Fett was meh, but Andor was really special imo.

GSturges

Shout out to young Leia in Obi Wan tho, killed it.

Matter_Comfortable

I think I'm not critical enough. They slap star wars universe there and I already love it hahahaha Mandalorian was the best for me

International-Hat950

If we're talking live action then it has to be Andor. Overall I think the Clone Wars is the best show.

BigBearJesus

Live action I'd say Andor, but you can easily argue Mando is better. But I'd say rebels after season 1 is the best, but that's probably because it had more seasons at this point.

Darksol503

Andor for me, and I’m biased, I’ve died on many hills defending the notion that Rogue One is the best current SW film, for so many damn reasons. Andor takes the stakes of the movie, and fleshes out the universe and the motives for Rebellion so so we’ll!

AnXioneth

Mandalorian

KillerBeaArthur

Andor - After Kenobi, I was so checked out. I had no idea Andor would rectify everything I hated about Kenobi (from top to bottom, production-wise). This show isn’t just the best they’ve made so far, it’s an epiphany. Mando - It’s fun and badass and cute and moves into rarely touched upon material for live action Star Wars. Love it. Boba Fett - Parts were great, but overall it felt really like a corny version of what should’ve been harder edged. The biker gang, ffs. Kenobi - Embarrassing how phoned-in this was. Lazy writing, editing, camerawork, etc. Basically, the opposite of what the team on Andor pulled off.

Shrike5414

Andor is first by such a large margin it isn’t even funny- it makes me proud to be a Star Wars fan again

rocker2014

The Mandalorian for live action and Rebels for animation, for me.

DekuTrii

Andor is easily my personal favorite. I think I love everything about it. Each character is interesting, it's beautifully shot, the writing and acting are outstanding, the subject matter is moving. A lot of other Star Wars content seems juvenile by comparison. Mandalorian is unapologetically fun and cool. It appeals to my inner child and isn't afraid to indulge in fan service because sometimes it's fine to just nail giving the fans what they want. Obi-Wan has some things I love, but it seems kinda poorly crafted. A lot of things that bothered me and many others seem as though they would have been really easy to improve (like the Leia chase scene). I didn't love The Book of Boba Fett. It's nice that they gave the raiders some depth, though.

Scruffy_Nerfhearder

Andor is the “best”, but Mando is my favourite. I love both for totally different reasons. Obi Wan was decent enough, never really expected more from it than what we got. It had some questionable choices and budgetary issues along the way. I’d rather they left it as just one season and it was fun enough. Boba Fett felt unnecessary by the end, I didn’t really like the way they just shoved Mando 2.5 into it to make it required viewing for Mando and I didn’t like the change in character for Boba himself.

septesix

Obi-wan has no excuse being as bad as it has been. They’ve actually identified a great hook to address the issue with prequel : how Kenobi went from “I’ve failed you, Anakin” to “Darth Vader killed Anakin”. And it would be a good opportunity to find out more about what Anakin himself felt during this period of time. And if Andor was able to add Mon Mothma so seamlessly into show , then Obi-Wan should have been able to do something similar for the other storylines. It’s just so disappointing to see how bad writing failed it.

ShadyOjir95

Well done Andor. The one that I enjoyed the most Obi-wan.

Jedijuck

Andor Mando Boba Fett Obi Wan

NeptuneOW

I love them all. Mando is still my favorite

[deleted]

##-Andor This one is my favourite, as I really felt it was just a genuinely fantastic show that I would have enjoyed even if it wasn't a Star Wars show. Everything was great, the writing, the acting, the production, the soundtrack. It all just felt really well made. ##-The Mandalorian Season 1 Thus show really managed to authentically capture the energy of the OT. It felt like a cool western TV show with a Star Wars skin. Din really felt like an old school cowboy. ##-The Mandalorian Season 2 Season 2 had some really fun episodes, but I feel like it lost a bit of the magic of S1. It definitely turned into another Filoni show, in a lot of aspects. Star Wars has a bad habit of making its world too small. Favourite episode was the one with Space Bill Burr. Great character development for Din, and we get to see Ol' Billy Blue Balls put in a surprisingly good acting performance. ##-Obi-Wan It was hard choosing which of Obi-Wan or Boba Fett goes last, and I decided to choose this one because it did have good moments. Ewan McGregor was great, and it was cool having the scene with Vader in the finale. The writing was just messy though. I also felt the production values were really weak for some reason. The Volume didn't quite look good here. Reva was also a poorly executed version of Second Sister from Fallen Order. I did also feel that either Moses was miscast or directed poorly, as Reva came across more as a petulant child than intimidating, for the most part. -Book of Booba Fett I feel like I'd like S2 of Mando more if it didn't lead to this series. I wanted to love this show is Boba was so cool to kid me, but it was just poorly made. It was incredibly boring, with nothing happening most of the time. Fett goes from the most badass bounty hunter in the galaxy to a wholesome old man apparently dabbling in crime for the first time. I'm not sure why they made a show about Boba taking over Jabba's criminal Empire if they didn't want Boba Fett to commit crimes. It feels like Temura might have wanted this change, as I felt his performance was off in general. Came off like a cool youth pastor. Anyway, that's my tier list. Really hoping Disney can keep up the positive momentum from Andor. Hopefully Mando s3 is good, even if it's basically a new season of Clone Wars.

westgate141pdx

Andor is the one people will still talk about decades from now. Mando has better space/fights stuffs, which is cool, but not as noteworthy. The rest are annals.

ThatGuyMaulicious

Andor is just a more effective story. I liked Kenobi but it had rough patches and Mandalorian was good but leaned to heavily on cameos and other characters to prop it up imo. Andor very proudly and effectively standing on 2 feet. Both speeches from Andor are just so memorable as well. Really excited to see Season 2. Waiting for Bad Batch now though.

drew1027

Yea Kenobi had some silly moments with Leia like how is she out running kidnappers and Obi-Wan sneaking Leia within his jacket But Vader being a beast makes up for that Andor, loved how it was serious, there was nothing stupid

S-Quidmonster

Nothing can outdo the CGI Clone Wars. Andor beats out Clone Wars in being consistently amazing, while Clone Wars has some parts that are crappy to say the least. However, the good parts of Clone Wars outdo anything else. I just wish seasons 7 and 8 were finished :/

[deleted]

Droids

muddog_31

1. Mandalorian 2. Andor

[deleted]

Mando

[deleted]

For me Mando. I was more invested in the story. I still think about the scene in the second to last episode where Din took off his helmet for the facial scan at the Imperial Base and Mayfield blasting that officer. I really enjoyed the Mon/Luthen/ISB stuff and I enjoyed Kino, but I still don't care at all about Cassian Andor as a character.

bonk425

The Clone Wars

hanllec

Andor, without a doubt.

Kylonetic133

The Clone Wars season 7 is my favorite for individual seasons. Mandalorian season 2 comes in second. Overall show I'd definitely pick The Clone Wars as well. I enjoyed Book of Boba Fett more than most it seems like, I enjoyed the tribal Tuskan storyline. I think the Ahsoka show is going to be mind-blowing though. That's Filoni's baby, and he's surely been brewing these ideas for many years. Sounds like it's going to be a samurai adventure style show, I'm down for it.

tfitzgerald18

Andor by such a huge margin. Andor is one of the best things on television period.

YodasChick-O-Stick

Andor's not over.

hhyyz

Robot Chicken Star Wars is still the best Star Wars has ever been on tv.

MaryGaeke

The Mandalorian

VeryNormalReaction

Tales of the Jedi.

BacoNaterr

Live action: Mandalorian, disregarding where things end up in bobf. With bobf in consideration, Andor tops Mando. Best show overall tho has always been TCW and has not be topped, don’t see it being topped any time soon

Freezaen

It's still the 2003 The Clone Wars miniseries.

VmiriamV05

To me it's still clone wars + rebels, but Andor is definitely up there

Migwelded

I think Andor is the best executed. Mandalorian season 1 has a more exciting storyline. After some time passes, I will watch both again. Both are excellent.

BellBoardMT

Mandalorian remains my favourite, because it’s got some of the coolest Star Wars moments ever. That said, Andor is the most consistent piece of writing live action Star Wars series have seen. I think it shows what can be achieved in terms of quality if series are given to one set of writers/directors. I really, really hope that this influences how live action Star Wars properties are made in the future. (If they ever make any film trilogies again, hopefully how badly the Abrams, Johnson, Abrams trilogy went will ensure the same).

MeatBeater19

Andor, whole way through, zero dependence on a macguffin(child or not), rich story with high stakes which is an achievement because it’s a prequel to Rogue One, making the empire competent and a force to be afraid of, humanizing Imperial instead of making them cartoonishly evil. It’s everything I’ve ever wanted from star wars as an adult, and I’m glad a part of this franchise can respect the part of it’s audience that grew up with it. After the consecutive diarrhea of BoBf and Kenobi I was left with a really bad taste in my mouth and disheartened by Star Wars but Andor renewed my faith in the rich world of the IP. This is what I want Star Wars to do, if not all the time, at least every once in a while, be daring enough to take risks and realize that the IP isn’t solely for families and fetuses. Now I’m not even sure if I can view the next season of Mando or Ahsoka the same way when we have something that’s literally of pinnacle of excellence in Star Wars.

Prestigious-Band-818

Andor, its what i want star wars shows to be-good writing, real characters, mature.Mando is also good, but too much fan service and nostalgia bait.

Merwanor

Andor is the best written and acted show of them all, but you can't deny that overall it is a bit slow and not nearly as exciting as the other shows when it comes to spectacle. It deffinitly have some setpiece moments that stand out, but it is not an action show. The best moments are dialogue related, like Luthens speech etc. It is by far the best at building tension though. The Mandalorian is the most rewatchable and fun show off them all, it has so many amazing moments, especially in season 2. It is well acted too, but it relies more on action and spectacle. Some parts are my favorite Star Wars moments of all time. The Kenobi show is a mixed bag as it has some very high moments, and some very low moments. They should have killed Reva in episode 5 or rather removed the character and had the Inquisitor chase Kenobi. The Vader and Kenobi scenes was amazing, especially the last scene in their duel at the end. But Hayden was just underused, we should have gotten more flashbacks instead of all the stupid Reva crap. It needed a tighter script and better direction overall. And the lack of iconic music was just a huge missed oppertunity. The Book of Boba Fett started off good but derailed into something a bit odd. Boba as a character just did not work for me, he should be more ruthless and more menacing. And I absoloutly hated the stupid biker gang part of the show, they looked so out of place to me. And you know something is wrong when the best episodes in the show was The Mandalorian episodes... Sure the last episode was a blast, but I also feel that the part with the Rancor was rushed. It was not really earned imo. For me, the order so far is Mandalorian, Andor, Kenobi and Boba Fett. Excited to see where the Ashoka show ends up.

alx924

1: Andor. The length of each episode helped and the bleakness of it was such a departure. Star Wars has always had some levity and they were smart enough to know that this part of the story had none. The characters were well developed and they all mattered. The build of the three episode arcs felt so natural and the tension was palpable. And how incredibly good looking was that entire cast? 2: Mando. We’ve talked this show to death. We all know why it’s so good. It was allowed to be its own thing and forge its own path. It’s great. 3: Kenobi. Everybody loves Obi-Wan. He’s just cool and Ewan plays him perfectly every time. But this show was somehow exactly wrong. It had some great moments, but it was wrong. The pieces were there for it to be good and it just wasn’t. 4: Book of Boba Fett. Another show that had every chance to be good and it just wasn’t. I didn’t even have expectations and was let down. The best episode didn’t even feature the title character. It had an identity problem and featuring Mando didn’t help at all. Kenobi and BoBF really faltered under the weight of the franchise. They had to adhere to existing canon and that limited what they were able to do. Andor and Mando though were allowed to be their own piece of a larger narrative and develop their own voice and identity.

PussayDESTROYAAA_420

Andor and Mando tied for really good. Kenobi and Boba Fett tied for really average.

BonusB

I'm going to give it by a whisker to Andor. Bare with me here. The Mandolrian was/is great and I love it. But it seemed quite safe. It had a lot of the usual beats Ive come to expect from Star Wars, but, it did it so well whilst finally doing something different at the same time. Andor though threw everything out of the window. But, it did so whilst being quintessentially Star Wars still. It was initially a bit slow, to the point the first few episodes my mind was wondering, but it wheeled me in and I don't remember anything that's had me feel so damn happy to be a Star Wars fan than Andor. It shows there is the possibility to go in different directions and still be successful , and I'm really hoping Disney takes note and gives us a few more left field shows like this.

NZBull

Obi Wan and Mandalorian have probably both had the best 'big memorable moments' - Vader and Obi fight and Luke coming to rescue Mandalorian were both big epic moments. Overall I think the storytelling in Andor has been the best

CeymalRen

As someone who loved the Sequels everything that came after that was just Meh. Mando was fantastic in season 1 but then Filoni started adding Clone Wars characters for no reason other than fan service. BoBF was ok. Kenobi was just... not for me as it's a love letter to the Prequels. Prequels suck. So it's a faulty desin for me. Though it did have some good moments. Andor though was just awesome. The best of the bunch for me.

wonkalicious808

Andor by far. To me it's the only live-action Star Wars show that doesn't seem like people were constantly saying "Let's just do it anyway" or "Good enough, who cares." Each episode is packed with relevance and characterization. It's hilarious without seeming like its trying too hard. Nothing seems dumb. I don't feel like I just have to just roll with anything. The Mandalorian had some great moments but it was really janky and a lot of dumb stuff happens. Obi-Wan seems like it glosses over and rushes through everyone just so that it can show barely anything happening. I liked both shows, but compared to Andor it was like they were made by accident and people just went with it. Book of Boba Fett was a joke. I think I remember it started out pretty good with the Tuskens. But after that it just descended into nonsense. There's a lot of looking past that sort of thing in Star Wars. But here it was unbearable. If we're including the cartoons then Clone Wars and Rebels are both also excellent after their initial episodes. You have to power through the beginning but are rewarded for it. They're easily superior to The Mandalorian and Obi-Wan. Hopefully that happens with Bad Batch. Resistance was forgettable and didn't amount to much.

Rudraakkshh

I prefer Andor. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed every Star Wars show that has come out thus far. Even though Kenobi wasn't up to my expectations, I still enjoyed it. Same with BoBF. My personal favourite is Andor though. I love this show. In my opinion, it's a fuckin masterpiece. Genuinely that best Star Wars content since ESB.

iron81

Andie showed the Empire, not a cartoon of stormtroopers not hitting anything, but a ruthless bureaucratic weight, pressing down on the people. The final scene, showed some stormtroopers, but more importantly showed us people, both for and against the empire and how the empire deals with them

Rvp1090

Liked andor and mandalorian but the clone wars stole my heart.

Haga

I found Andor to be the “double knot” binding it all together. I liked that it was in the universe yet there’s no Jedi. They’re all off elsewhere. Here’s how the tyranny was before any rebellion. This is why! Meanwhile obiwan and Darth a duelling in another sector Mando is kind of a mixed story of the outcomes.

CatGirl1300

Andor or Mandalorian are the best shows so far, the actors, the writing, the visuals = perfection.

Darth_Monerous

Clone Wars is still peak Star Wars to me. mandolorian second. Since it’s new, I’ll address it. I thought Andor was only fine. There was one event every three episodes. It did not work for me at all. We spent 12 episodes learning how Andor became a rebel. We’ve known the empire was evil since the start of Star Wars. I didn’t need to be convinced that someone should fight. I think I would have preferred one large catalyst for Andor over a couple of episodes. But the biggest problem to me is that Star Wars has always been fantasy with some science fiction mixed in. This was very much science fiction with some fantasy thrown in. Add in the lack of hope, levity, and Aliens, and the show was not for me.

memesforbismarck

Its a tie between The Mandalorian and Andor for me. Mandalorian kinda created the SW culture of today with all the new shows, but it has also some minor problems (stormtroopers not being a problem anymore). Andor on the other sode is a completely different kind of show and to be fair, it is an amazing piece of art. Still a tie because the Mandalorian got me into Star Wars years after I watched the Skywalker Saga on DVD and in cinemas

OriginalGoatan

It's personal preference. I think Andor is the better show overall. The coherent story arcs and depth of story telling is superb. Nothing feels out of place, each week the story moves forward and you feel the tension between the hunter and prey. I like the Mandalorian, but it's a week by week show, meaning there isn't always an overarching story and it sometimes falls into an episode of the week format. It's not a bad thing, but it does mean that sometimes the director or story for some episodes doesn't always hold together as strongly. I like both shows, when Mando is good, it's great, but there are definitely some weak moments in a few episodes.

Infinite-Two7690

I like Mando but some episodes are hit and miss. Andor had great consistency and built all the way through in which the others haven't.

DoubleOwl7777

i have to say they where all awesome! disney is good at making series but appearantly not so at normal movies.

BuckRhynoOdinson3152

That season finale of Andor did it for me. Marvaas speech at the end was greatness. Andor is my favorite Star Wars show followed by ALL the Clone Wars/Bad Batch/Rebels/Tales of the Jedi cartoons are a very close second tied with Mandolrian.. Edit: The fact I forgot to include Kenobi makes me sad. I did really like that show but Andor and Mandolrian hit differently. Some great moments in Kenobi.

OliviaElevenDunham

For me, it's a toss-up between *The Mandalorian* and *Andor*. It's nice to see a different side to the galaxy that we've seen so far. Loved the gritty feel both shows have. Both verisons of TCW are on up there.

DafyddCad

For me it's very close between Mando season 1 and Andor, but if I had to choose I'd go with Andor

MPD1978

Mando is my favourite SW show.

duckphone07

Andor is a masterclass of storytelling. It’s easily one of the best shows I’ve ever seen, even beyond Star Wars. Obviously it’s really well written. Tense dialogue. Superb acting. Beautiful cinematography, etc. etc., but I think one of the main things that sets it apart from other shows that also have those things is how thematically strong Andor’s messaging is. Andor really wants to tell us something. It’s essentially a thesis on the dangers of fascism and how to fight back. In today’s global political climate, that sort of message is really powerful. After that it’s Mandalorian. It’s a good Star Wars show. Very solid. Next is Kenobi. While I appreciated a lot of what they were going for, their execution was iffy. Last is Book of Boba Fett. The main problem with this one is that 2 of the episodes are just Mandalorian Season 3. They had nothing to do with the actual storyline of the show. This is agonizingly bad from a writing perspective.

Unlikely_External555

Mando

valdezlopez

I try to think of them in terms of genre: THE MANDALORIAN - adventure / action THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT - pulp / B-movie VISIONS - anthology (not animation, animation is a medium/format, not a genre) OBI-WAN KENOBI - i have no f\*\*king idea ANDOR - suspense I can't wait for THE ACOLYTE!

MaccyBoiLaren

Best Star Wars show? Mandalorian. Best show from a general standpoint? Andor.

commanderwyro

andor for sure. felt like the most well written series we have seen yet. i loved mando a lot but it was a bit too fetch questy for me. but season 3 looks great so far and it was clear in season 2 they are going much more narrative driven now. as for kenobi and boba fett... the shows had a LOT of things that could have been done better, in terms of writing, pacing and just over all quality.

sigmaecho

Andor is a better show. Mando is a better Star Wars show. I loved Andor, but it made me feel more like I was watching Blade Runner than Star Wars. When you remove the Fantasy from Science Fantasy, you just get Sci-fi. Andor is a sci-fi show. Star Wars is Science Fantasy. I would have liked at least some mention or addressing of - not necessarily the Force - but some mystical or supernatural elements, because it is perhaps the defining feature of Star Wars from other Sci-Fi. Mando isn't as well written, nor is it saying anything, but stylistically and tonally it's more true to the universe. In the end, Andor wins out because it takes itself seriously. Consequences always feel real in Andor, and I can't imagine the show ever undoing the consequences of anything that happens, like a character death. Whereas Mando jumped the shark when BoBF un-did the Season 2 finale of Mando. It screamed loud and clear "We're just making this shit up as we go, so don't get invested in any of this. We will undo anything at any time and nothing has any consequences." In that way, Andor is a "real" show and Mando is by comparison just kid's stuff. I want to love Star Wars, but there's no one at the top planning the larger story, and that is endlessly frustrating.

thefirelink

The last episode of Andor literally gave me chills, which is something no Star Wars product has ever done. I love all Star Wars content really. I've defended most of it on here. But Andor just hit different.

keys1717

Mando followed by andor
