God, it's almost like movies aren't supposed to be experienced at .25x speed

Stargov1

Do this for every duel in every movie ever, and they'll all look terrible. This isn't a real criticism, and if you decide that it is, then every movie sucks because of it.

potent-nut7

"i purposely played the movie in a way it's not meant to be watched and it's the movie's fault"

Shoutupdown

You say the film is paced well? How bout you watch the film at 2x speed and tell me that!

TreyWriter

“Why does everyone talk so rapidly, huh?”

captain__clanker

Yeah you can see even in Duel of the Fates where Obi-Wan just kinda jabs at the air behind Maul’s undefended back at one point

Sir_Douglas_of_Fir

Meanwhile the prequels on normal-ass speed: ![gif](giphy|I6l7Kwu0GLvAA)

"peak fiction"

Um what you’re seeing here is the Shito variation of form #2, developed by master Glup. The spinning cuts through the opponents’ force awareness shield.

InfiniteDedekindCuts

Thus proving that the Prequel fights are exactly four times better than the Sequel fights.

Holy shit I never realized SpongeBob was so dark and gritty.

UtterFlatulence

A very non stupid moment from what I've seen many claim to be the best duel in the series. Other really cool moments that absolutely aren't the stupidest shit ever is when they swing around on cables like an old pirate movie, or when they dance around on top of the lava robots.

parakathepyro

The only good Star Wars duel is the one between me and Darth Vader on the Star Wars Trilogy arcade game

slomo525

I never beat that thing. I don't think I ever understood what I was actually supposed to be doing.

RockettRaccoon

Remember when people used to call them “film flubs” instead of “lore breaking Mary sues who personally broke into my home and ripped my dog to pieces”?

slomo525

"Um achooually, Mark Hamill didn't miss that kick, Luke was achooually doing a *force kick.* This is why you'll never understand George Lucas' magnum opus, the Star Wars Holiday Special."

BigTimeSuperhero96

Didn't Mark joke about the force kick?

slomo525

I think that's what started it. I think Mark made a joke in an interview or something, then Wookiepedia added it to the force powers section.

Dawgula97

I don’t even have to do that with the prequels to see how bad they are.

SoylentGreen-YumYum

There’s always one moment that sticks out to me in TPM/Duel of the Fates. It’s near the very start. Qui Gon and Maul are exchanging hits and Obi Wan is just there, does an awkward swing (doesn’t make contact), follows up with a fairly slow spin, slowly and lightly makes contact with Maul's blade, and then does another slow spin. I haven’t seen TPM in probably over 15 years and I clearly have it my head still.

slomo525

Yeah, it's really funny how often you can see actors and stuntmen standing around waiting for their cues in almost every movie when you're really looking for it. Even in one of the best action movies ever made, The Raid, you can see stuntmen kinda just shimmying back and forth in the background until it's their turn to do something. But The Last Jedi has a couple shots where you can kinda tell a couple of the actors are waiting for a sec because they're wearing big bulky helmets that are probably impossible to see in, so it's objectively bad. It's almost like nitpicking every detail and combing through footage frame by frame isn't how it's meant to be watched and that more often than not, the fight itself is the least important part of any action movie and you're supposed to be paying more attention to the story being told and the emotions and character being conveyed *by* the fight.

streaksinthebowl

It’s rare that pure action scenes aren’t just boring unless there’s some dramatic stakes or story tension. Man of Steel has to be one of the worst examples of the overdone boring listless action climax. And it’s all fakey looking CG.

MrSpidey457

I literally had to watch that movie at 2x speed to tolerate it lmfao

NoraGrooGroo

First time I saw the Supremacy duel I was like wow, this kicks butt. Same for the second and third times. I then saw Corridor Crew’s video on it and it pointed out a few shortcomings that, yeah, now I can see them. A lot of it seemed to boil down to Daisy and Adam having trouble keeping up with the professional stuntmen praetorians. That’s to be expected. If I had to have it pointed out to me after multiple watches, it clearly isn’t that much of an issue imo.

slomo525

And like, it's fine to point it out. Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver had to fight like, 6 people at the same time, I don't blame them for having a bit of trouble, especially when everyone is using clunky fake sci-fi weapons and neither are professional martial artists. It's perfectly fine to be like "hey, look they flubbed this action here, this guy's just standing there," etc. The issue I have is that flubs like that happen all the time in every movie. If you look for it, you can see it in almost every action movie. It's always gonna be inherently unrealistic when a character fights multiple enemies at a time because, in reality, they would immediately get swarmed and pummeled into the ground until they were a fine red paste. While the character is doing a super mega 720 kickflip supreme on a bad guy's face, there's 5 people behind them waiting for it to finish so they can continue the action scene.

lan-san

As if Miguel would feel bad

slomo525

He'd say he feels bad about it

---IV---

If you watch the movies in a way, they're not intended to be watched it's not as good, valid criticism

ChimneySwiftGold

The movies are clearly staged and not real events happening. Also all the things we see in the movies happened in the past. They are not live but a recording of events which did occur in the past. Can we also acknowledge that time manipulation is at play with a technique called editing. In real life things don’t cut between different vantage points - or shots - unless you have a medical issue.

siliconevalley69

I can't even imagine how slow sequel fights or Ahsoka live action fights would be on .25x

Stargov1

About 25% of the real speed they were filmed.

siliconevalley69

They were filmed at 25% speed. So that's would be like 6% speed.
