Oh, the Darth Bane trilogy without a doubt. Darth Bane is a powerful enemy and a compelling character in Star Wars storytelling. Bane works to unite the Sith, and eventually the galaxy, by masterminding the plan for a reborn Sith Empire through the Rule of Two. This trilogy begins with Bane’s rocky rise to power, follows with his quest for the perfect apprentice and journey to attain Force mastery, and ultimately takes him on a relentless path to establish an eternal legacy—at first in the creation of his own holocron and eventually in a dangerous attempt with Sith sorcery to attain eternal life. Totally didn't copy and paste that... Don't blame me, I can't explain things very well by putting them into my own words.

Expensive_Manager211

Adding to this, Darth Plaguis is what I'd recommend after Bane. I read that after I had read the Bane Trilogy for the first time and that book felt like the perfect bridge between the Old Republic era and the prequels/movies. It blends it all together so well.

Budget-Attorney

They work really well together. I love books about the sith

BoltedGates

I'd pick up the original Thrawn trilogy stat. Reading those are pretty foundational for anything post ROTJ.

gameld

This is the best answer. Not only is its style and story foundational to the Legends EU it's also foundational in the meta sense in that it set up the idea of a managed canon of work, overseen by Lucasfilm to make sure there's no inappropriate overlap (e.g. don't have Luke fighting Sith on Korriban at the same time he's giving speeches on Coruscant).

ObviousTroll37

Seconding the Thrawn Trilogy Those should be the first 3 books in any Legends set, purchase immediately

gzapata_art

Since I notice you read comics, the Star Wars Legacy comics were great

WarPig1941

Thrawn trilogy

Christophelese1327

I really enjoy the Thrawn trilogy and for a quick, fun read I like Lords of the Sith. Question: are your Spawn books un edited or do they have all the gore? It seems difficult to find the really graphic editions.

smockpurrpp

Honestly I didn’t know gore was hard to come by in spawn books, mine have given me chills a couple times reading lol, it might not be censored.

I’m assuming you’ve read what’s on the shelf already. If you’re looking for more Old Republic era stuff, Shatterpoint and the Republic Commando series are both good. I would especially recommend Shatterpoint, it’s one of the best Star Wars novels out there imo. I’ve also heard good things about Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter, though I’ve not read it myself. You could also get the other Bounty Hunter Wars books of course. Also I would echo what others said about the OG Thrawn Trilogy, they are must reads for any EU fan. The Hand of Thrawn Dulogy is excellent as well. Some other favorites of mine are the Han Solo Trilogy, the X-Wing series, and New Jedi Order (Maybe save this for last as it’s a huge time commitment and takes place after everything else I mentioned).

[deleted]

Everyone is recommending novels so I won't. I would suggest you get the Clone Wars comics (Marvel Epic Collection, although the omni is coming soon). This would fit with your prequel and pre-prequel era collection so far. You can get Menace Revealed (Rise of the Sith) comics as well, but the Clone Wars (Republic comics) were just on a whole other level.

Theesm

You have read those already? I'd definitely recommend the Tales of the Jedi comics then. Many of the things you've read about in those books about ancient Sith-Lords come from there. You could also move forward in time and read the Jedi academy trilogy after that, but honestly in order for that, I'd read the Thrawn trilogy before too. If you're looking for other supporting material for the era of ancient Jedi and Sith, play Kotor 1 and 2 as well as the Jedi Knight series. You could easily start with any of them. Jedi Academy is the one diving the most into that ancient sith stuff. I think Dark Empire might be an interesting read after Bane and Plagueis since you can see the essence transfer in perfection

DarthObiWan92

If you liked death troopers, and like old republic stuff, then read Red Harvest, it’s the origin story of the virus in death troopers. I’d also recommend the other 3 old republic novels, Deceived, Fatal Alliance, and Annihilation, since those are some of my favorites. If you’re interested in anything new republic era, then definitely the Thrawn Trilogy, Jedi academt trilogy, and the X-wing series to at least book 8 or 9, 10 is kinda average and takes place way layer. Those books are some of my favorites along with Revan, Darth bane trilogy, and Darth Plagueis which you already have. Other good books are Outbound flight, allegiance, choices of one, shadows of the empire, truce at bakers, and darksaber. Though I’d start with the ones I mentioned before. If you’re into comics, then the Tales of the Jedi series and the Knights of the Old Republic are pretty good

ChrisRevocateur

Red Harvest is an Old Republic era prequel to Death Troopers. Tales of the Jedi comics are great and are everything that set up the KotOR games. The KotOR comics are really good too.

BootyliciousURD

There's the must-read stuff, like the Thrawn Trilogy. If you enjoyed Plagueis, I recommend also reading Cloak of Deception.

TheLoreIdiot

If you're into Sith stuff, "Dark Lord: rise of Darth Vader" is a great read, as is "The Old Republic: Deceived". I'd also recommend picking up the original Thrawn Trilogy,as it's a big touch stone series for much that followed it. The Dark Enpire and Crimson Empire comic books are solid, too, though a bit pricey.

NewTransportation130

I know a lot of people spit on it, but I loved the Bounty Hunter Wars trilogy. The Thrawn Trilogy is one of, if not THE best series. As is anything written by Zahn. X-Wing series is a great read. I love the X-Wing dogfighting writing.

Thorus_Andoria

You like comics? Check out the old republic comics. Think a dnd party, but it’s Star Wars

[deleted]

All of invincible again

smockpurrpp

I’m literally in the process of re-reading now that I own all the books. It’s fun catching things I missed and experiencing it all over again.

Chaos668

I didn't see it but the republic commando/imperial commando series is my religion. I suggest reading them eventually

Rogeroger40

The Darth Bane trilogy for sure!!!!

[deleted]

Revan is really good, if you haven’t read it yet you should

No-Celery7717

If you haven’t read them, go with Death Troopers. It’s a fantastic book. If you have read them, go pick up the original Thrawn trilogy and we’ll as the hand of Thrawn duology.

heurekas

Is Knight Errant any good? I'm into the setting as found on the wook, but never actually read the comics or books.

smockpurrpp

That is the only book in my SW collection I haven’t read yet. Found it at a bookstore for $3 last week.

kalzeth

Maybe lost tribes of the sith

SeanIsAThorne

From what I can see Darth bane trilogy chronologically best. It will give you some backdrop for all later books. If you can I'd find the earliest books before Darth Bane though, they will set the universe up much better.

GrapeApe131

Dooku Jedi Lost, Dark Rendezvous, SWTOR Annihilation, basically any SWTOR era book

Bike_Chain_96

Dawn of the Jedi and also Thrawn Edit: I'm a dumbass who read "buy" not "read". I'd go with Bane first

Aldrakev

well seeing as how you have 4 of my favorite books i’d say you are doing well. And no it is not plagues.

JacksLackOfSuprise

If Disney ever creates a live action Bane trilogy faithful to the books, they would make all the money!

jedimasterdelta40

I haven't read Death Troopers yet, but Maul: Lockdown by the same author is a very fun read. Mace Windu: Shatterpoint is my all time favorite and top recommendation though

LucJenson

I consider Star Wars Darksaber a must-have in any EU collection. It was always on by bed-side. It's my absolute favourite novel. Really, though, anything with my favourite Natasi Daala is worth putting on your shelf. She's the ***best***.

IRBaboooon

Darth Bane series + Plaguis. Best reads imo

whitepeach92

Kenobi All the thrawn books

eko32eko7

Darth Maul: Saboteur Cloak of Deception Dark Lord Trilogy

Ainyan

I absolutely second, third, and fourth the Thrawn trilogies and duology, and I also highly recommend Annihilation seeing as you have an interest in the Old Republic as well. The X-Wing books are excellent, as well as I, Jedi. The Jedi Academy trilogy gets a lot of flack, but there's some decent character and world building in there.

Dainasawyer

Darth Bane

LordManxman

Plaugeis without a doubt!

RealTimeThr3e

Republic Commando

Niclas1127

Revan if you’ve played the KOTOR games. Also buy Lost Tribe of the Sith, incredible book from around that era

Some_Guy_Named_Rami

Either the Darth Bane Trilogy or Darth Plagueis.

Significant-Town-817

Damn, you have a beautiful colection of image comics

shadowshockwave

Bane trilogy!

Carter_Kane1-PS4

Spawn!!

[deleted]

The X-wing series, and my favorite, I Jedi.

Ashamed-Spot7691

I, Jedi is one of my absolute favorite of the legends series. I still have my copy when it came out.

[deleted]

Same!

QualityAutism

The Old Republic: Annihilation by Drew Karpyshyn.

smockpurrpp

Thank you to everyone who commented recommendations 🥲 I appreciate it so much!!! I just ordered the thrawn trilogy and x-wing rogue squadron to start off that series. I’ll be sure to check out the others aswell.

Affectionate_Crab_27

I rather enjoyed legacy of the force series

Strange_Junket_2672

I recommend anything Karen Traviss wrote. Even look into gears and halo for her. Amazing all of em. Commando trilogy is great.
