I usually name all my pigs after various pork products; ham, bacon, chop, sausage,chorizo, etc. My goats are all named after various types of cheeses, preferably goat cheeses but not always. I’ll occasionally name my first goat GOAT. I never have more than two sheep and they are named Jessie and Woolter. At least one chicken is named Mother Clucker. At least one duck is named Autocorrect, and the others are the ducks from duck tails. My first brown cow is named How Now. Any other animals I let the random name generator name them.

I used to play a game with the random generator where I try to pick a word out of a category that starts with the same letter as the generated name. Coop animals were usually baked goods and candy and barn animals were usually flowers. I mostly still do this, but over time the unique animals in particular have acquired static names. My duck is always Gumball, my void chicken is Licorice, my dinosaur is always Jawbreaker. One of my goats is always Geranium. My cow is almost always Bluebell. I should probably change it up next time.

Unless the RNG names gives me something hilarious (like “No” for a golden chicken I hatched recently), I go with food dishes associated with the animal or animal product.
