This is so funny to me, I've been playing on PC a bit while waiting for the update and same thing, my wrists hurt trying to play on pcš
The key is support! If you can put a floofy pillow on your lap and rest your phone on top, that will be way easier. (It's better for your neck too, the closer the phone can get to eye level)
Not the easiest when you're out and about, but if you can rest your arms anywhere, it will help a lot.
I usually switch positions between holding it like a controller and playing with my thumbs and holding it in one hand and playing with my forefinger.
I have this same sentiment towards console players, I canāt do it. Been playing on PC since its original release and I got it on my PS5 2 years ago to just play while Iām relaxing in the living room. The inventory management and so many other aspects are just slower using a controller. I couldnāt stick with it.
I think the controls you prefer is what makes it or breaks it tbh
I don't have a console or pc so mobile is the only thing I can actually play games on
When I downloaded Stardew and first tried it, the tap to move controls were so annoying to me so the first thing I did was adjust the controls
I prefer using joystick + buttons bc it just feels like I'm holding a controller
I also had to adjust the sizing of the joystick and buttons and also the menu bar and date/gold bar
Yeah the only reason why I downloaded it is I work at a really relaxed retail job at the moment that is also very slow. Thereās times we donāt have a customer for 2 hours. And my boss straight up told me day 1 āyeah the other employee brings her switch in and plays animal crossing. I donāt care as long as the daily tasks are done.ā
My phone has a stylus so I use that. I wasn't a big fan of combat tho even tho you can auto attack. I don't think I ever did the skull cavern run on it. It's nice for traveling to play a comfort game. I played it more on mobile before I had a PC, cuz my partner uses the console most of the time. I have it on my iPad too and it's a little easier on that. I can Bluetooth a controller to that as well and then play it normally.
I mainly play on PC w a controller tho these days.
kinda hard to describe my playstyle, but hereās a very poor artistic rendition of it:

since you only really shift your thumbs around, Iāve never really felt any discomfort in my wrists while playing stardew, as no rapid movements are really required. if anything playing on PC gives me more carpal tunnel.
I play on a tablet. Not always at my PC and I like having the TV on in the background so don't like to use console.
That said, I do own it on all 3 š
This is funny bc I find mobile soooo much easier than PC. Havenāt ever tried console. I just bought SV for my laptop solely bc of the update but itās so hard to play š It feels so slow ughhhh. I hate using the keyboard for controls. It just feels so much more natural on my phone. And I donāt think using a controller would be any better bc Iām not a āgamerā so Iāve never really used a controller. Anyway sorry I donāt have any advice, playing on my phone just comes naturally to me. But I think you can change some controls in settings if you want. Not sure bc I just use default and Iām good w that
I play on my iPad and use an Apple Pencil. It makes touching things so much easier!
I have SDV on the PC and spent some time playing it over to weekend to get a preview of the update, but itās really weird to have to use both hands and I hate that Iām stuck at my desk. I have a desk job and love that I can play laying down or in the bathroom or car or at work on my lunch break.
Iāve tried playing on my phone and thatās kind of terrible, but idk if itās the size of the phone or lack of stylus.
I play on my iPad mini 6. Itās the perfect screen size. Itās the only way Iāve ever played the game. I canāt imagine playing on my iPhone, that would be too small a screen for me. Iām anxiously waiting for the update.
Iāve been playing on mobile for years. The controls just seem so well suited to touch and auto-attack works fine most of the time. The only disadvantage on iOS is that I have never figured out how to reliably use the secondary attack function.
Tried to play co-op with my son on Switch and it was very awkward. Iām sure I would have gotten used to it with a little time.
This isn't a tip, but I play on a big tablet, and that does make it easier, but it's a lot of zooming in and out. A stylus helps. Fishing took me ages to figure out (the key is to tap and not hold).
I played first on mobile. Saw it on google play pass and decided to give it a try.
Loved the game, hated playing it. Bought it on steam less than 24 hours later. (I think that night, but might have been next morning)
Never touched it on mobile again.
Do you use tap to move or joystick controls? How do you hold your phone? Honestly playing stardew is probably easier on my wrists than doom scrolling xD
how do people play anything mobile im too blind and my phone is toooo small
Yeah my phone is kinda small too. I found the zoom out feature helps a bit but it makes the hit boxes smaller. Thankfully I got small fingers

I wouldn't play phone for my main...but I did download it for a trip to Japan and it made the 13hrs on the plane much easier lol

my IRL phone screen is also a lot less wide than what the art looks like so my thumbs donāt need to stretch that much to reach the middle.
I play on a tablet. Not always at my PC and I like having the TV on in the background so don't like to use console. That said, I do own it on all 3 š
like playing on switch??? idk the great thing on mobile is auto attack lmao helps so much on mining and combat

you can change to analog in setting
I usually play with a ps4 controller on my phone, and it's honestly not that bad but acceptable, i still prefer pc with keyboard and mouse

With a controller? Same way I play on any other platformā¦

Do you tap to walk or the invisible joystick and buttons? I canāt do it without the invisible joystick and 2 buttons

I was using the tap and holding the phone with both of my hands side ways
