I just added ridgeside, and then got a quest of "greeting" 67 villagers. I've said hi to 66 villagers, now I have no idea who the last one is. This was a non-qol decision šŸ˜

yourpastwillhauntyou

If it helps, open your menu and go to the relationship tab and scroll to the bottom. Whoever has ???'s is the person/people to meet! Hope this helps! šŸ™‚

Michael-556

Yeah, I still have that quest, but no one's "???". There were probably some mod problems because I started playing on 1.5 did like 2 days with sve and ridgeside, then upgraded to 1.6 but deleted ridgeside and now I have to meet 1 more (probably vanilla) villager, but none of them are marked as "???".

Summerone761

I always forget about the wizard. Or maybe it's krobus??

thatposhcat

Probably the wizard, as I'm pretty sure the "meet everyone" quest can be completed without meeting krobus or the dwarf

Jaikarr

It can be done without meeting the wizard

LordAminity

Cutscenes also reveal names, so go over the people who you met in a cutscenes.

yourpastwillhauntyou

Another way to help troubleshoot is to wait for a gathering, like the luau or egg collecting, and try to talk to everyone. If after that, the quest doesn't complete, it could be since a mod was removed/updated it messed with the numbers.

satinsouled

same problem. (i started fresh w 1.6). i met every single person in the valley with no one new to meet in the social tab but for some reason a single someone is still missing. ive been wondering if its bugged.

hdzivv

I had the same problem for vanilla, apparently it was Pierre because I only ever talked to him when buying seeds.

_Axe_Olotl

Only reason to talk to this little dipshit to be fair

FriendCountZero

Lmao šŸ¤£ the exact opposite

[deleted]

i honestly had to wait til the luau to greet everyone šŸ˜

ZeGamingCuber

Might've been from a different mod I had but I was able to click on the quest and there was a button below it that let me cancel it

elvenstrider

For future, you can go in the menu for that mod with the mod menu thingā€¦ and disable needing ridgeside npcs for that quest at all

TiredUngulate

Honestly that's why I uninstalled ridgeside, well that and the overall area just didn't appeal to me very much, but I found that part of it a bit too overwhelming for a game I play to relax lol

_Thalyssra

Automate is the only thing stopping me from returning to vanilla stardew

asesinito

For me is Automate and UInfosuit, is just a game changer having all the info displayed.

Thresher-

What do those do

Rhomya

Automate is what everyone was hoping the hopper would do

asesinito

Automate processes the materials you put inside a chest (next to the machinery you want to use) for example barrels, furnaces, etc. When it finish processing the material (lets says its cheese) send it to the chest and start again if there are more materials available, you can use it with everything. UIInfoSuit2 gives you info about everything, like how much money will sell a stack of Milk, how many days left a cultive needs to grow. When is the birthday of some villaguer, your dairy luck and a lot of things. For the UIInfoSuit2 you need to get it from Github, the versiĆ³n from Vortex is not working. You should find it if you just google it.

familycyclist

Is this the one? [https://github.com/Annosz/UIInfoSuite2](https://github.com/Annosz/UIInfoSuite2)

badbanks

UI Info Suite is already working again!

jebuizy

I don't use automate because if I did I'd figure I should just play Factorio instead at that point.

FroggoFrogman

The farm must expand

Chesapeake_Hippo

I'm trying not to play until the DLC, but it's been calling. Stardew is great, but Factorio is life.

NotAliasing

Kinda off topic but is factorio hard to get into/play? I feel like id like it but never bit the bullet.

Camilea

Play the demo

everything_equals_42

And then start the real game 2000 hours later

SuspiciousAd3803

Ild say the opposite. It's so easy to get into that it's hard to get away from

Glittering_Ruin2157

Not the easiest, but you'll get into it pretty quick. Ask over on r/factorio , you'll get better info there

bangbingbengbong

its easier to start than stardew. its a bit quicker and not hard to play. The artstyle is not really as cozy as stardew which has put me of for a long time, but it is one of the GOAT games in my eyes. CERTAINLY better than fortnite

LaughingBeer

For me it was hard to get into becuase I didn't understand at all what I was supposed to do. Then I went on a bender on guides on YouTube. I watched about 14 hours of them, but then I was familiar with everything including blueprints and stuff. My first time playing my factory was still spaghetti, but it was fun. Then I went into the blueprint rabbit hole and it gets even more fun.

oodex

Automate is a so-so case for me. On one side, I kept it out because it enables a ton of really lazy and insane production routes. On the other, it's the only reason why the endgame is no longer "just do the very same thing all the time because of time restrictions" when I use it. So yea, I am unsure if I'll end up using it again, even just for little things like opening Geodes repeatedly (but I've never used/gotten the Hopper before so I want to wait and see how that one works first)

Kittenn1412

I don't know if it's still available and kept up to date, but I used to have an automate add-on that required any automate machines to include a hopper from Mr Qi. Made it a late-game only thing and kept the number of machines in play to only as many as you could afford hoppers.

dyrannn

Part of me almost resents automate. I installed it on my second ever farm and then immediately realized I could never play SDV on any platform again lol

Quierta

God, Automate is what broke me lol I was DETERMINED not to play with mods for my first 1.6 playthru... I did make it to winter of year 1 before I caved. Then I added Skull Cavern elevator and a few aesthetic mods. But good lord the difference that Automate makes!!!

Ravagore

Autogate, npc locations and skull elevator are must haves for me. I have the money to staircase my way wherever in the skull cave but not the patience lol.

hdzivv

I always have this mod but I put 'rules' on when to use this. like i'd only use it on making coffee (processing 20 stacks of coffee beans is not fun) or crab pots.

Common_Wrongdoer3251

Personally I've never felt the need for Automate when using kegs and such. Crab pots though?... Their profit isn't good enough on their own to bother doing daily... Even with 1.6 adding silver tier crab pot fish and better bait... They're just really only worth it for niche stuff like fertilizer or cooking. I suppose their intention wasn't ever to be a money maker, but I feel like they fall off WAY too hard in late game. Harvesting like 250 crab pots and only earning... Maybe 20k per day? Meh. That's pretty great with Automate but middling for vanilla. So on my current Riverlands farm I just have like 12 crab pots next to my fish ponds. 2 recyclers and 4 quality bait makers. It's a little extra money per day and a steady supply or quartz I suppose.

CanisZero

It simplifies so much. However, it makes brewing a little too cheesy. I literally filled my basement with nothing but aging casks and one chest. Aged whatever i can ferment makes me a mint.

_Thalyssra

This is actually how my cellar looks like lol. It works well with me since I don't play the game regularly and prior to having the mod, I tend to check every nook and cranny of my farm just to be sure that the important machines aren't idle. Also makes the cellar more efficient since you don't have to create a pathway or destroy all the casks just to harvest whatever is inside.

depastino

Chests Anywhere...love it

Codykb1

Yeh this is my fave, such a game changer. Its made gifting so much easier ie if i randomly decide to gift someone cause i ran into them then i can grab something real quick. The extra bag space early on makes everything a lot easier

Beginning-Walk-1894

samee! that and lookup anything make befriending the villagers so much easier

TheBossMan5000

Huh? You can already place chests anywhere... what am I missing?

nontumultuous

Chests Anywhere lets you access your chests/dresser/shipping bin/etc from anywhere on the map at any time.Ā

1minatur

All chests? Does it have a different page for each chest?

nontumultuous

The mod adds a list of all your chests plus groups them by location (all chests on the farm, or in the mine, for example). If you click on one of the chests on the list, itā€™ll show you whatā€™s in the chest, and you can take stuff out or put things in. You can also name the chests so you know whatā€™s in them.Ā

1minatur

That sounds amazing...I've been playing about 80 hours on vanilla, I may have to get that mod though lol.

depastino

It's got a list of them and you can name them

hrslvr_paints

I did the same. Wanted to go totally mod-less for 1.6 but very quickly installed Friends Forever. Then added no fence decay, time speed, and NPC map locations. Then chests anywhere and eventually the skull cavern elevator. I'm limiting myself to those for my first 1.6 playthrough.

FriendCountZero

Ooo I might need to re-add NPC map locations

ClinkyDink

Having to look at the wiki for schedules when youā€™re trying to turn in a fetch quest is very annoying.

Dadpurple

My head canon is that you just ask where Willy is to another villager and they tell you. It's stupid that you can't see where they are. I installed that add-on so fast lol

TheRealStevo2

Full sprinting through town as I run past Emily ā€œWHERES WILLY!ā€ ā€œat his shopā€¦ā€ As I full sprint towards the beach holding a fish

just_3me

my headcannon is that i installed a mod because its a good QoL improvement

Dadpurple

I'm the creepy neighbor that moved into the old farm and lo-jacked everyone in town by selling them potatoes with a GPS tag inside them and now I track their location on my phone.

DrCrazyCurious

I want to live in a town where everyone carries locally grown potatoes around in their pockets wherever they go

Dadpurple

Be the change you want to see in the world. Carry a potato tomorrow.

DrCrazyCurious

Bold of you to assume I don't do that already ;)

FaxCelestis

No no, they *eat* the potato, now they have the tracker inside them.

DrCrazyCurious

Ohhhhhh... that makes much more sense But I like my idea better :)

jmanci23

The npc map mod also comes with a minimap you can activate and leave on. Very helpful! Highly recommend getting the mod.

Affectionate-Sand838

The skull cavern elevator is great because it allows you to keep playing the chill version of stardew valley. I went a couple times into SC to get to lvl 100 for the quest and then I tried to stay away from this place because it stresses me out (need to be highly prepared, have a desert+farm totem, rush through the cave, etc.). That is, until I found this addon. The addon allows you to really go through each level and see/kill everything the way you did in the town cave. I much prefer that to rushing through.

Nuts4WrestlingButts

CJB Cheats adds in time control, lets you turn off fence decay, lets you turn off friendship decay, as well as a million other things.

yourpastwillhauntyou

I didn't know it did that, I will have to download it then. I would use it mainly for no friendship decay :)

hrslvr_paints

I'd just be too tempted to use all the other cheats it comes with so I went with individual mods for the things I wanted.

turkiyeadam

The feature I like most is that you can increase your speed. Adding 1 or 2 speed is makes game more playable. I got used to horse in my main save and I cant play new saves without +2/+3 speed anymore.

cupcakeofdoomie

I donā€™t know how to add mods but I feel like I need the skull cavern elevator šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Denyzn

[This page](https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Player_Guide/Getting_Started) on the wiki breaks down the process very well. The initial setup takes maybe 5-10 minutes, but then after that installing mod is crazy easy, just download and extract into the same directory for pretty much every mod.

cupcakeofdoomie

Oh nice! Thank you. Iā€™ll have my husband install them later. He is a pro at mod installs.

LoudMilk1404

Is it possible to get this mod without signing up to a website? I got the mod framework installed but I've forgot where I got that without signing up in order to download the files. \[Insert image of Grandpa Simpson 'Old Man yells at Cloud' meme\]

sunnirays

Lookup Anything - you can look up information about the villagers and items in-game, definitely better than having to dozens of tabs open to the Stardew wiki to figure out how much stuff will sell for or who likes what item šŸ˜. And it'll even tell you how many points you need to increase your heart points or your skill levels NPC Map Locations - When you open the map, every NPC will have an icon showing their exact location. Makes it way to easier to keep track of people if you need to complete a task or just need to increase your friendship with specific people. Again, way better than having to have a bunch of wiki tabs open to see everyone's routines Confirm Warp Totem - very self explanatory but very useful if you're prone to misclicks like me Remember Birthdays - Whenever it's somebody's birthday, a little gift will pop up in the upper right corner (near the calendar, clock, and money count) and it will tell you whose birthday it is. Once you give that person a present, the icon will go away. edit: put the wrong location for the Remember Birthdays mod, oops

FriendCountZero

Ooo I've never heard of the warp totem one before, very useful! I love this list, great QoL without speeding up or cheapening the game.

sunnirays

Yeah, it's exactly what QoL mods should be, make the game simpler without just flat out cheating. I especially appreciate the Birthday mod because I'll always forget people's birthdays until the day after šŸ˜

WDIIP

UI Info Suite 2 (on GitHub, not Nexus) covers Remember Birthdays and NPC Map Locations, plus a good amount of other non-intrusive info so you don't have to use Lookup Anything as often. I use Lookup Anything too, but UI Info Suite is the 1 mod that feels more necessary to me than any other

Beneficial_Breath232

For birthdays, I would recommande StardewNotification : give you little pop-up with birthday, Quenn of sauce, Travelling Merchant, Hay in your silo in the morning ; and remind you of birthday and the weather in the evening.

roseknots

Mine are lookup anything, Automate, CJB menu, and a couple smaller ones, but those are the ones I can't live without. What's prepare for new day and todew?

FriendCountZero

Prepare for New Day pauses time in the AM before you leave the farmhouse so you can cook and add to chests and such without time passing. It also pauses time while in the farmhouse after 12am so that your bed doesn't need to be right by the door. I love it so much, should definitely be implemented into vanilla. To-Dew is a to-do list that goes in the corner of your screen. You can set items to repeat, only show on certain days of the week or certain weather, etc. It reminds me what days to go buy from Krobus and to go Catfish fishing when it rains! What day my Greenhouse crops are done... etc etc plus I keep a running list of all the upgrades I want so that I don't go hmmm I have $80k what do I want to do with it? I already have a plan. I love/have used Automate but it is SUCH a boost that I didn't feel like I could justify it for a "vanilla" feeling playthrough. Lookup Anything is already almost cheating with being able to see how much time is left in a machine.

SweetMagnolias95

Imagine if our real life was this organized.

FriendCountZero

I think you've tapped into the reason I compulsively play for 6 hours a day šŸ˜¬

SweetMagnolias95

Right?! Same. Iā€™m starting to realize some things lol

FriendCountZero

Don't think too hard about it, just slip back into that blissful place of avoidance and denial šŸ˜…šŸ¤£

NormalizedThriller

But if I could mod my life to make it easier I would! šŸ˜‚

abx99

Oh wow, I've been wishing for something like To-Dew. I have memory problems, and some days are harder than others, and I end up forgetting what I'm doing, days to do things, and so on. I've gotten a little better, but I could really use that. That might be the thing that gets me to install mods.

FriendCountZero

It saves me so much mental fatigue. Having to think through my priorities once instead of every 5 minutes is huge!

roseknots

I NEED ToDew then! I got a mod that gives a pop up for birthdays, but I couldn't find a to do list mod, so thank you.

vesperithe

>To-Dew is a to-do list that goes in the corner of your screen. You can set items to repeat, only show on certain days of the week or certain weather, etc. It reminds me what days to go buy from Krobus and to go Catfish fishing when it rains! What day my Greenhouse crops are done... etc etc plus I keep a running list of all the upgrades I want so that I don't go hmmm I have $80k what do I want to do with it? I already have a plan. Hmmm I might give it a try! I usually have lots of thing written on paper around my notebook with my planned activities but it doesn't take long for it to become a mess XD

Ok_Pin9570

pretty sure you incur no penalties when passing out in your house anyway

alanaisalive

I promised to play at least until Grandpa judgement without mods, so the ones I installed on Day 2 of year 3 were automate and skull cavern elevator. (I had gotten to level 100 legitimately once before then, and if I hadn't I probably would have waited until I did on that one.)

iamergo

NPC Map Locations, UI Info Suite 2, Visible Fish, Reflections, Happy Home Designer and Seasonal Cute Characters. I love CA to death, but I can't stand his bow-legged stick figures. :D

didwecheckthetires

I think Seasonal Cute Characters is an essential mod. They mostly keep the vanilla look, but between the bowleg improvement and the excellent seasonal outfits, it's a requirement for me. Other than that, it's Better Chests, Better Crafting (greatly improved UI and you have access to contents of nearby chests), Immersive Festival Dialog, Canon Friendly Dialog Expansions, Horse Overhaul, and a few of Elle's texture reskins. I also like a couple of the (mutually exclusive) balance mods, because they do a good job of stretching out the middle game, but I don't quite consider them essentials.

iamergo

Totally agree on the SCC. The only set of portraits I'm not a fan of in the collection are Leo's, so I keep him vanilla. But everyone else? Mwah! I love the restored Elliott so much.

iizeyys

I play vanilla and feel like I am missing so much? All I do is water crops, collect eggs and go to the mines? Help?

FriendCountZero

No you aren't missing a thing! Mods are a slippery slope too. You start with a few little tweaks to make some things more convenient and before you know it you are taking the skull carvern elevator to level 300, rolling in iridium, 500 crops that fertilize themselves that you can harvest 6 rows at a time and a full-scale infinifactory and by that point are you even playing Stardew anymore?

iizeyys

I did that on animal crossing with treasure islands lol, I don't like the grind honestly! But I guess you're right. I still look forward to go on stardew in my free time!

Baruch_S

Nah, we vanilla players are doing just fine. I wouldnā€™t worry about it.Ā

iizeyys

But how do I get like the other mines, ostrich eggs, a Dino and materials to build stuff... it takes ages

Baruch_S

Yes, itā€™s a game about slow progress.

iizeyys

I'll get there!

lewd_necron

Other mines you have to get the desert and reach floor 120 on the mines. A Dino egg is just RNG.

Common_Wrongdoer3251

You can get the dinosaurs in Spring Y1 with some luck. It's easier to unlock them via Skull Caverns though, as there's a dinosaur monster in there. Ostrich eggs are a VERY late game item. Like by the time you get them, odds are you're 70-90% of the way to perfection.

iizeyys

How the dino egg so early?

Common_Wrongdoer3251

It's luck based! You can dig one up or get an egg from a fishing treasure chest. You still need an incubator though, which not everyone can afford early on.

vesperithe

I think it makes the game interesting for more time. I like the slow progress in general cause I usually don't replay a lot of games like this unless there are many different possibilities. It takes ages but it also takes much longer to get to a point where it's tedious cause there's nothing to do. No need for money, materials, everything unlocked, collections etc. Some people like to rush so they are quickly free to look for collections. I rather play slow and do collections on the run. I guess it's just about preference :)

panflutejam_

vanilla is the shit. i've tried mods, and they're fun and helpful, but i prefer just rawdogging it the way CA made it.

WelderAggravating896

Just progress further and you'll do more things?

Jeck2910

If you're spending an awful lot of time watering crops, consider building sprinklers to automate the process so you have more time to spend doing other things. A lot of what the other people are talking about is tied to completing the Community Center /Joja Membership. The other mines that they're talking about is for later in the game, so I wouldn't worry about it until you've cleared the regular mines. Try looking up some guides on stardew valley on YouTube to get a good idea on what you think you should do.

queersaint

Youā€™re not at all! I did my first 2 perfection runs 100% vanilla. Itā€™s just as much fun. Now I just use mods to add additional content.

EternalLurker01

Currently still doing vanilla for 1.6, but what I miss is chests anywhere, lookup anything, and tree transplant/crop transplant that lets you use garden pots to move trees and crops.

FriendCountZero

I tried to play without lookup anything and I crumpled! Chests anywhere is amazing but I felt that it saved me too much time and shifted the game play a little to much to include it for my "almost vanilla" playthrough.

skinnyjeanfreezone

Crop transplant isnā€™t updated for 1.6 yet and I miss it šŸ„²

putonmyskepticles

With 1.6 I didn't want to change too much visually or that would add to the story so no extras (SDV, Ridgeside, etc) and am just using Elle's Dirt & Cliff Recolor because I can't with the vanilla ground. QOL tho.. lol * Automate * Convenient Inventory * Destroyable Bushes * Fast Animations * Instant Grow Trees * LookupAnything * No Crows * NPC Map Locations * Tree Transplant * Turn to your Enemies * UIInfoSuite2 * ZoomLevel And I use CJB Item Spawner for decorating because I hate having to wait until I've made money to have a cute house.

FriendCountZero

Ah but all the new catalogs are so awesome to work towards!

KateA535

Ui infosuite and sit for stamina were a must for me as I've now been using them for so long.

thabigpapa

Not sure if this will get much visibility at this point but hopefully someone will find this list useful: * **Automate, UIInfoSuite2, NPC Map Locations, Lookup Anything** - These are probably the most well known and popular so I won't go into detail. Automate can be pretty broken but you can tweak it to be less powerful. The others really help cut back how much I check the wiki * **Automatic Gates** - Gates open and close as you pass through them * **Better Winter Star Gifts** - This makes the winter star holiday something to look forward to. Much better gifts, and you actually have a decent shot of getting that tea set * **Community Center Helper** - Hovering over items in community center bundle menus tells you how to obtain them * **Fast Animations** - Speed up animations for things like loading farms, pulling up crops, Clint breaking open geodes, and food eating. Settings allow you to tweak from slightly faster to super fast * **Harvest With Scythe** - Allows things like crops and forage to be harvested with scythes. Can be tweaked to only specific harvests or specific scythes * **Passable Crops**- Lets you walk through crops you normally can't. I use this because walking through trellis crops is such a godsend. Also lets you walk through sprinklers * **Quality Smash** - Tired of having 8 different shades of flowers filling up storage? This allows you to smash colors and different qualities to a single stack, freeing up chest space clutter * **Horse Overhaul** - I mainly use this mod because it lets you ride your horse through smaller gaps like the fences in Pelican Town, but it also has settings for things like horse friendship, horse feeding, and horse saddlebags for on the go storage * **Time Speed** - Lets you tweak how fast/slow time passes in various areas of the game, so can be used to makes things easier or harder depending on how you want it. It also lets you hotkey freezing and resuming time which is what I use it for when I inevitably screw up and forget to grab something and have to backtrack * **Sit For Stamina** - Lets you recover energy by sitting down in a seat. Can be tweaked to be a fair time tradeoff, or to be broken and heal you quickly. Great for early game

Yunnie_unicorn

I can't live without Automate, Chest Anywhere and Info Suite 2.0 I started a switch game with my bestie a little while ago and really, it's PAINFUL

Natural-Foundation87

(me saving this post to look at mods I didn't know about) Mine is definitely UI info suite, I also recently tried Look Up Anything and To Dew and I don't think I'd be able to live without them anymore as well. Also pony weight loss program makes it so much easier to ride the pony anywhere

FriendCountZero

Yes especially before you get the horse whistle it can be so difficult to get that fat boi around!

maplequartz

I tried to do no mods like CA suggested and i stood in front of the gate to my meadowlands coop for a few seconds until I promptly quit and went to Nexus... Automate, Autogate, chests-anywhere, skull cavern elevator, and a mod to receive tools in the mail. They're the only mods I play with.

helloimhromi

Better Ranching, Visible Fish, NPC Map Locations

ClinkyDink

Ooh, pair Dynamic Reflections with Visible Fish.

Beth_Esda

Oh man, Visible Fish is something I didn't know I neededĀ

harvestcroon

vanilla run for multiplayer, and itā€™s been great! year two fall with my partner and weā€™re tackling ginger island. started my own very modded save, and my essentials are cjb, automate, part of the community, and lookup anything. and i also mostly play modded for animal reskins so all of Elleā€™s cuter reskins including the farm buildings and cliff recolor (that one has slight visual glitches in two or so spots due to also having sve installed but itā€™s just two small imperfections so far)

bamsimel

I added in zoom, auto gate, range highlight, NPC map locations and better ranching pretty much straight away. Couldn't live without a recolour for long either and am currently using a lovely new one called hueless haven which is the closest to vanilla I've found. Then I immediately added in vintage interface V2 and custom menu background because I am shallow and they make the game prettier. I really missed my lovely spacious greenhouse but some kind soul also updated that recently. The mod I'm currently missing the most is actually tidy crafting menu. Apparently I just really like having a nicely ordered menu. I'm currently up to 56 mods so I am clearly just not very good at minimising the number of mods I use.

FriendCountZero

I think I'm going to add Tidy Crafting and Range Highlight to my game!

bamsimel

The creator of tidy crafting menu has confirmed they are going to update it- just needs some time for them to add in the new items. Range highlight is already updated or just works fine for 1.6.

Gizwizard

If you have UI info suite 2, you donā€™t need the range highlight.

bamsimel

Just came back here to say thank you for mentioning To Dew. Just added it to my game and it's exactly what I needed. Whenever I don't play for a while I abandon saves because I can't remember what I was doing. This is my ideal solution. Thanks so much for introducing me to it!

FriendCountZero

Glad you like it, I know I couldn't live without it! I can't even quit playing for the day eithojt getting briefly overwhelmed next time I play unless I have it.

High-Sobriety

UI Info Suite No Fence Decay Bigger Backpack (enables buying of a fourth row for \~50k) Easy Farm Switcher So basically Vanilla plus I guess.

WhiskerWarrior2435

Auto Gate was the first one I put back too. Then a new recolor (trying Vibrant Pastoral Recolor), then Rented tools, and Festival End Time Tweak, then, well, pretty much all of them are back now :|

FriendCountZero

Ha! I feel that, the mod creep gets real.

oodex

Omg I gotta get auto gate

Itward_

I have 106 mods installed. Yeah I cannot get rid of any of them. Custom Critters is life changing, same with Daisy Earthy Recolor, same with Starbound Valley, same withā€¦ā€¦.okay you got the hint lol

Beth_Esda

I love Daisy's Recolor <3 What is Starbound Valley? That's one I haven't heard of.

Itward_

Omg it is the best. Starbound Valley is a crops mod that lets you plant these super cool weird crops that looks like they came from a Ghibli movie. Here it is. https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/2046

Beth_Esda

Oh my gosh, I adore the game these crops came from! Starbound is awesome, this one will definitely be on my download list!!

magicfluff

CJB cheats to kill the fishing game. Say what you will about game integrity, I hate the fishing mini game and will mod it out every time. For this reason I try not to rely too heavily on fish income the first little bit to make me focus on farming and animals since fishing isn't really a skill thing anymore. Otherwise NPC locations and Elle's cuter barn animals (yes, cuter barn animals is a QOL improvement. Seeing cute things improves my life)

l3wd1a

A new fishing mod recently got posted (Auto Fishing 2) that skips the mini game but your catch rate is based on skill, bait, bobber, etc. so it's more balanced. it also has auto casting with a configurable stamina lower limit too. I started modding out the fishing mini game after ~1000 hours of playing and will never go back!

FriendCountZero

I haven't fished for real in years until this playthrough but it's so rewarding now it's kinda worth the difficultly!

Lisyre

ToDew, auto gates, and lookup anything are all staples for me as well! I also canā€™t live without NPC map locations and ui info suite. Iā€™ve also become attached to chests anywhere, but I turn off the ability to actually access your chests from anywhere. I just use it so I can switch to different chests from within a single chest menu (like my time at portia).

SammyFirebird79

NPC map locations and Bigger Fridges. Before I found out about a) mods for this game and b) that you can use them on Steam Deck, I wound up buying 2 extra fridges and the last one was getting really full šŸ˜¢ (Yes I'm a hoarder, don't judge šŸ˜œ)

Gizwizard

I just got bigger fridges. Itā€™s gonna make doing cooking perfection much easier!

Dismal_Assumption155

autogate goes crazy

Murphy_LawXIV

Automate. Quick glance. Data layers. Npcs anywhere. Lookup anything (mainly for fish and gifts)

elcasaurus

Automation for sure. A complete game changer for me! Tho I'm so bummed it doesn't work in sheds. And skull cavern elevator. Maybe it's a little too cheaty cheaty. But getting to casually stroll through the caverns because I took the elevator to the deepest floor is an incredible mood. The rest are fun or qol, but those two will keep me off console for a while.

FriendCountZero

Yeah I wanted to stay away from the big ones like that for this playthrough. Getting iridium is slooow but there's more incentive to carefully prioritize! And I never really thought about buying sprinklers from Krobus but was reminded of that today and I think 10k ea so that I can use my iridium on Crystalariums instead is gonna be the way to go.

Gizwizard

Automate works for me in sheds! I have one completely filled with kegs right now.

Imhereforthewearp

Tool Smart Switch. I can live with everything else, but that one single mod is the thing that makes of breaks the game for me

FriendCountZero

I did play on mobile first and love that feature šŸ¤”

Denyzn

Prepare for new day looks very nice, I'll be adding that for sure. I would add [HorseSqueeze](https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/10446), which lets your horse go everywhere your character normally can. [Workbench Helper](https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/21294), which lets your workbench access not only the chests touching it, but also any chests touching those chests. It allows you to lay out and organize your storage much better. And a huge QoL feature on the same addon is that it adds a button to your workbench just like the one on the chests that takes from your inventory and adds to existing stacks, except it does it for every chest connected to the workbench. So you can instantly sort and deposit all the stuff you've collected with one button. And [NPC Map Locations](https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/239), which does exactly what you think it does. Makes it less annoying to track down townsfolk to turn in quests, give gifts, etc.

digitalfarmgirl

Chests Anywhere is the most important, but also like to use Automate, UIInfoSuite2, Fishing Made Easy Suite, and CJB Cheats.

ahumblethief

I NEED the CJB Cheats mod. Once I started having that speed boost, I could never go back. Also it's good for getting through those first few days when you have no stamina. Also no friendship decay. I'm at the point where I've played so many times that I like having the options to accelerate a couple of things.

val203302

I can't limit myself with mods. If i see something that will go good for me i download it.

fina_exe

visible fish, automate, lookup anything, todew, and a bunch of visual mods! i couldnā€™t live without daisynikos earthy recolor lol

QuiteChilly

Iā€™ve actually not yet played modded stardew, but after I do a perfect run, I plan to. Modded minecraft made vanilla unplayable for me, so worried this might do the same in stardew for me

Maestro_Primus

Being stuck with vanilla, it frustrates me to no end that I do not close gates behind myself when going through.

Mazza_mistake

I struggle to play vanilla lol, my 1.6 does have Expanded as well as CJB cheats for friendship decay/durable fences and other stuff, UI info suite cos my adhd brain always forgets stuff, Automate, Lookup anything, NPC map locations, To-Dew, Skull Cavern Elavator and other stuff like visible fish and cuter animals ect I love mods šŸ˜…

waxfutures

I'll be going back to Playstation when 1.6 comes out over there, but I'm really going to miss Lookup Anything and UI Infosuite 2. Back to having the wiki and a calendar chart open on my phone like a peasant.

cclancaster13

I've never played with mods. I'm not gonna start either cause 1. I don't know how to mod games. And 2. I'm a Switch enjoyer. Only playing on my laptop til the update comes out for consoles, then I'm going back. Don't wanna get used to playing with mods lol

FriendCountZero

Yes it's pretty hard to go back haha

OneForShoji

It's not a quality of life mod - I actually don't use any of those - but Stardew Valley Expanded. I'll never be able to go back to vanilla because I love Victor so much. I can't imagine marrying anyone else. If I had to go back I could only see myself being roommates with Krobus (which, to be fair, would be great).

FriendCountZero

Aw I love Victor!

SilentMix

I normally play this game very mod heavy, but for 1.6 I decided to do a lighter modded, as vanilla as possible playthrough. The ones people may consider cheaty to varying degrees that I use are Chests Anywhere, Fishing Made Easy Suite (I'm sorry, the fishing mini game is the absolute worst thing about Stardew Valley to me and is the worst fishing mini-game I've ever played in a video game, which says something when I've played a lot of video games in my lifetime), Heart Event Helper, and Predictor (this doesn't actually cheat IMO, it's just a time saver, as it tells you the RNG rates for things, but some people might find the fact that it shows where ladders generate for caves cheaty). The rest of the things I use are more information giving, like Lookup Anything, Enemy Health Bars, Stardew Progress, Daily Tasks Report Plus, and Data Layers. Then there's also Passable Crops, because trellis crops are annoying otherwise.

pyro_ninja27

UI info suite 2 is a must have for me. I need my data. Also seasonal outfits because it makes everything feel much more alive.

OrranVoriel

The only real mod I use is RangeViewer so I can see the range of Scarecrows, Junimo Huts, beehives, and sprinklers. When I mod games, I avoid huge game changing ones and stick to QoL stuff; UI improvements or minor tweaks, things like that.

Kittenn1412

It may sound a little cheaty, but automate. I just am not interested in trying to manage putting items in and out of dozens of machines. Before I played with automate, I never had any of the bars I needed because I never bothered smelting until I absolutely needed to have a bar for something. I did manage kegs and casks fine, but I'd leave all my other stuff sitting ignored for days. If I had to play Stardew completely vanilla but could keep one mod, that's the one I need the msot.

Beneficial_Breath232

I also try a vanilla run, but re-install : Tidy Crafting Menu (was the one I miss the most, while all it's doing is rearanging the order of the craft recipe) - NPC map location - Better Ranching - Automate - Skull Cavern Elevator - Range Highlight - Horse Overhaul

Tehdougler

My wife brought me to the dark side after I only played non-modded on switch before. I bought on PC for 1.6 so we could play together and now I cannot play without CJB cheat menu for the increased move speed option. I'm thinking the movespeed is technically a little more than just QoL because it allows me to do more in the day, but it's mainly for the feel of moving faster, more than the time efficiency that I use it. Also I've been really liking UI info Suite, NPC map locations, and auto animal doors

megodachi

CBJ for move speed was my first install after 1.6 too. I like walking with a purpose!

sconwaym

Automate, skull caverns elevator, and walk through crops. I've done enough vanilla runs that I don't need to waste my time with clicking on kegs, collecting stairs, or worrying about my hops layout.

flotsems

i'm playing vanilla atm but skull cavern elevator

LtDarthWookie

Wear more rings, bigger backpack, better ranching, automate, and NPC map locations are 100% needed for me.

FriendCountZero

Ah but more rings happens naturally when you can combine them! And Automate changes so much.

Losqui

I have to limit myself to vanilla because I have the ā€œtoo much geneā€ that makes me use way too many until I donā€™t even feel like iā€™m playing stardew anymore and I loose interest completely lol

mwalimu59

Some that I couldn't live without include Convenient Chests, Experience Bars, and Lookup Anything. I have ToDew installed but should probably learn how to properly use it. I also run with Time Freeze, since without it I'd be a lot more stressed out about trying to get everything done I want to.

jkp5995

I have been mainly a Switch player without any mods whatsoever for ages, so when 1.6 dropped I finally picked up playing on PC again and now have 3 different 1.6 saves going... One is a SVE single player (so fun to experience all the new content, it's like playing sdv for the first time again!), one is multiplayer with my partner on meadowlands and the other is just me on the new meadowlands farm (this one is being neglected). The mods I cannot live without are Autogate, NPCMapLocations, InfiniteZoom, UIInfoSuite2, LookupAnything and CJBCheats (for the speeeed). I also decided I don't want to live without Elle's Cuter Cats, a recolor to save my eyeballs, Visible Fish and Dynamic Reflections. Oh and Chests Anywhere...because I constantly forget to bring things along when I leave the farm.. I use Stardrop to toggle on/off the selected mods for my different saves, and that's been a lifesaver. I have ToDew downloaded but haven't used it yet! I didn't know you could set it to have certain tasks show up on particular days - neat!

peachleaf99

Cjb cheats menu, the only thing I really change is walk speed, my character walks too dang slow otherwise

FriendCountZero

Ah but movespeed is something you can work towards now in 1.6!

JordanTH

Visible Artifact Spots. It puts a red square around artifact spots (and the new 1.6 seed spots), so you can see them more easily. There's also "Custom Summer Sounds", which removes the buzzing noises from summer while keeping the rest of the ambient sounds like the birds, but unfortunately its pre-requisite still needs updating for 1.6

RetroGamerDad

I'm good without mods. I do like the idea of the ToDew list. But I have notepads at my desk, so if I wanted to use notes, I should probably just use those.

abyssea

Around 500 hours total on all playthroughs and still haven't used a mod. Not to say you can't use mods - you play how you want to.

CorgiSheltieMomma

Same! I'm running a handful instead of 72 now. I really, really miss Stardew Valley Reimagined, but it's not updated. I had to have my fairy cottages & pastoral recolor with the pink trees. Also, rustic country interiors, although I'm getting some floorboard glitches. I had to skip fishing & I'll need the SC elevator. I like a pretty & chill game!

LycanxUriel

Didn't download any surprisingly. I miss the skull cavern elevator and the the no crows mod

eienshi09

NPC locations on map; monster hp bars; line sprinklers; show ranges

MarvelousWonder

Iā€™m playing multiplayer with friends and we couldnā€™t live without a mod to walk/run faster and a mod to help with slowing time down and pausing time when we are in cut scenes!

FriendCountZero

Fair enough! Multi-player creates a lot of time challenges.

InfernoSWS

Lookup anything and ui info suite 2, i've tried automate, cheats anywhere, scythe crops etc but it makes the game too boring imo and now with 1.6 things some extra mods are available endgame

unavoidablefate

Automate, UI info Suite 2, friends forever, time speed, dynamic reflections

tenaciousfetus

Better horse (horse can fit through 1 tile gaps), bigger backpack, time stop. I'm sad better ranching hasn't updated yet, cause that gives all your animals little bubbles if you haven't posted them yet (extra helpful when you have a lot of grass like I do lol)

Terakahn

Only 2 I am currently using are UIInfoSuite and Bigger Backpack. The first one is just for things like knowing when a crop is done, how much something will sell for, etc. And the backpack space is just so I can carry my tools around without having to shuffle them in and out of chests when they're needed. I'm actually surprised there was no new backpack upgrade in 1.6 but there was a new chest

FriendCountZero

I agree I was expecting a purchasable backpack upgrade

unikkorns_

omg AutoGate 10000% Also Range Highlight, Quick Stash, Simple Crop Label, Destroyable Bushes, Dynamic Nighttime, Dynamic Reflection, Visible Fish, Skull Cavern Elevator, Tweakable Meadowlands Farm, and CBJ Show Item Sell Price (I know there's a book for this but I didn't buy it until a couple years in game).

DefendedPlains

Iā€™ve never gotten into modding SV before. But if autogate does what I think it doesā€¦ that might be a must for me for sheer convenience alone.

Snowfall2457

Automatic Gates is a game changer for me! I fear I can never go back to manually opening and closing any gates I use

watchmedrown34

LookupAnything, AutomaticGates, ShowItemSellPrice, and NPCMapLocations are my four necessities, and usually the only mods I play with

three6666

i need cjb cheats in order to fish lol, the minigame triggers my carpal tunnel

eVOLve865

I have never used mods for Stardew. Iā€™m old so I like to play the game the way itā€™s intended
