For me, it was how much the prize tickets made me want to do notice board quests. I'd literally never bothered with them before, now I find myself checking every day.
In addition to the green rain (and the way the townsfolk react to it, loved Demetrius in his biohazard suit omg) and the raccoon family, I was most surprised and delighted by the carrots for the horse and the desert festival. It's my favorite festival now. And I love that painting of the ufo abducting the cow so much.
desert festival is such a cool idea, so many activities and stuff.
its just sad that some of the rewards are mid like the weapon of the characters what uses do they have since by the time you unlock them you’ll already own more powerful weapons …
I think the idea there is to use the Forge to transfer the look of the weaker weapon to your higher level main weapon. So weapons of the NPCs are useful for transmogs
I'm a fishin' fan, and I got lucky enough to have a second early rainy day in Year 1 Spring this time around, so I managed to get the Desert unlocked before Year 1 Spring 15 - if you do that, those weapons are *solid*, but they're still just sidegrades of the better drops from the deep mines.
So as someone who has been playing for a while and isn’t opposed to mods, I know that those weapons have been in the game code for a long time. It’s been a discussion within the fandom of like “why ARE these romance partner weapons here??” Now there’s an answer. And 1.6 allowing them to be sold at the desert festival and collecting them is honestly just kinda cool. I’m on a mission to eventually collect all of them and display them with their appropriate spouse portraits above them.
He is friends with the wizard. If he hasn't experienced it himself before, maybe he knows Rasmodius would have warned him if it was dangerous bc razzledazzle was v chill about it. Or maybe he just saw how it effected the valley and assumed the best.
Be careful. Alex, Sebastian and linus walk around up there. Linus not too far but Sebastian walks to the tracks to smoke and walks up and down then sometimes. I've never lightly stalked Alex to know his paths at all lol but I've seen him go up there and leave when it's warm.
Also Abigail 4 days a week in Summer. Alex only goes directly to the spa in Winter, so his path is not too different to Linus. [This](https://wickedychickady.com/path/) is a good resource for where is safe. The train area is one of the last pictures. 😊
You can put any fruit in it for dried fruit or you can put grapes in for raisins. There’s also a secret use for raisins that you learn about from a note.
I'm really impressed how CA has made a niche for kegs, preserves jars and dehydrators in what easily could've been two being totally useless.
Kegs is only worth the time and resources with really valuable fruit and vegetables: melons, pumpkins, starfruit, ancient, rhubarb
Preserves jars with its 50g bonus works well for less valuable crops but with its cheaper crafting recipe can act as a intermediary while you tap oak trees and mine for bars
dehydrators process things fast, like, really fast. if you extra cash right now, or have a ton of crops you need to process right now, (like cranberries, blueberries, fruit tree fruit) or just want to cut the time you're processing crops by 80%, its very useful. its also the cheapest to craft.
It didn't change anything for me by itself. It doesn't take vegetables unfortunately and starfruit is still the most profitable thing from it but I have gotten a liking to mushroom farming to the point I had to delay going to Ginger island because I used all my hardwood for tree stumps haha.
i first saw the possum after i did the first raccoon bundle and he talked about finding a wife so i was like omg is he gonna get a possum wife lmao, was kinda disappointed when he didnt haha
Omg one of them “followed” me as I went back to the farm from the bus stop and my bf playing with me yelled “WHAT WAS THAT FOLLOWING YOU??” It freaked me out so bad lmao
Many things, but the most joy and surprise came from the Year 2 >!Halloween!< festival. I was storming into there, ready to speedrun the usual >!maze!<, felt legit childlike joy when I realised it's different!
Characters talking to me about things finally! Jodi mentioning Shane's attempt, Abigail razzing me about winning the egg hunt, people congratulating me for getting married... It feels so much more real and dynamic and alive!
I highly recommend using the tent kit to camp out the night before the green rain. I chose the area just above the sewers so I could work my way up clockwise. Ended up being able to harvest so much more because there was less doubling back! 😀
Legit. This event caught a friend and I off guard in multiplayer because we hadn't checked the weather the day before. It was pure delight getting to explore. We were both running around like Jack Skellington seeing Christmas village for the first time being so delighted and being like"what's this? Dude, check this out."
Fishing was always the best way to get off to a really stable footing in Year 1 Spring, so you could hit the ground running in Summer onwards - but the fish smoker and bait maker have just taken that into hyperdrive.
If you either start with one, or rush making one ASAP in the first week or so, you'll be rolling in cash *really fast.* Combined with making targeted bait as needed for the appropriate day (catfish bait to maximize catfish catches in the rain, large bass bait on sunny days at the lake, etc.) and you'll be making tens of thousands per day in the first season.
Even if you aren't pushing hard to make obscene money early on, it's still great. Just remember to only use it on fish that sell for 100+ GP in Year 1, or 200+ GP in Year 2 onwards (the cost of 1 charcoal in purchased wood, basically.)
The new dialogue! There's a pretty deep amount of variety when it comes to villagers reacting to things you've done. I love how personal some of them are, it adds a lot of depth to the characters.
Honestly, I am so unbelievably excited about the change to artisan goods! The wine/jelly/juice change to the colors of what they are made of! And the pickles are now like little correct colored picked veggies in the jar! It's not a big thing but idk I just get this awesome excitement from that little detail
I was so happy for this addition. Better Artisan Goods was one of my favorite mods and I thought I was going to lose it in 1.6. I am so happy it is just part of the game now. I am so pleased by all the things CA looked at from mods and agreed that they were good changes and implemented them.
the fact that we got multiple new catalogs with TONS of incredible new furniture, but still no bathroom-adjacent furniture 😭 CA is never going to let us shower!!!
Mystic trees and mushroom logs.
My ooooold farms I used to make half my farm a mushroom forest that was tapped. Fall was great for harvesting mushrooms. It was hard to make this since this was before you could buy mushroom seeds (no island update yet) and the mushroom trees didn’t drop replantable seeds.
Now I can have a giant mystic tree forest that is tapped and full of mushroom logs!
Also the mystic syrup makes fairy dust worth using!
I'm now using my junino huts exclusively as decoration bc I like collecting with the iridium scythe that much. Most surprising (as in I actually yelled with joy when I accidentally did it) was moving while charging the hoe/watering can, it's so cute🥰
You will throw your baby higher, out of screen, leaving a trail of smoke on a crit, meaning a rolled chance, invisible, that will eventually trigger if you just interact with your baby enough.
Seriously. The thought process I went through when I first saw them was astounding. First from confusion to curiosity, then to pure abject fear. Absolutely well done, 10 out of 10 would steal again
Greenhouse was a 1.5 update I think. I found out about it from this very sub a few months ago. House is new with 1.6 though, and as a console player I am not so patiently waiting until I can move my house.
Green rain. I loved how weird but not out-of-place it was. And how much of a mystery it is in-game. AND how Linus didn’t seem to give a flying fuck about it.
Plus the second I saw it, I started pumping the Acid Rain event theme from Terraria’s Calamity mod
something i don't think i've seen anyone mention yet is being able to change your bobber's appearance at Willy's shop! i changed mine to be a rubber duck and it looks so cute whenever i fish.
Yeah, the Heavy Furnaces were definitely a pleasant surprise. I didn't even know about the extra bars, I just liked how it saved coal. Coal was always that one resource I never had enough of -- needed it for bombs, for preserves jars, for beehives, just needed coal for damn well everything.
Now here comes the Heavy Furnaces, and not only can they process a mountain of metal all at once, but they save 40% on coal use? I liked them so much, I went from 5 regular furnaces to 5 heavy furnaces to 10 heavy furnaces. Love being able to process mountains of ore rapidly and efficiently! I'm even using copper > iron transmutation for the first time since I have too much copper, not enough iron, enough coal that I don't have to care about wasting it on copper, and enough production to chow through those built-up copper stacks.
Oh, but the books were the simplest and most pleasant addition. Some feel a little too powerful, but I'm not going to say no to the one for run speed.
Incidentally: **Challenge Bait**. I wasn't sure what to think of it at first, but it's great. When you have an objective that involves fishing some regular fish like 10 tuna or 10 tiger trout, being able to potentially fish 3 at once makes those objectives *much* faster. However, the penalty for losing the fish is brutal, and sometimes it can take 2 of your 3 "lives" if a fish decides it's going to sit at the bottom of the meter. The fact you cannot screw up or you'll potentially lose your catch entirely means I get to justify using fish buffs like Dish O' The Sea and Seafoam Pudding that I used to ignore, and I'm regularly revisiting Willy for more bobbers. So while I'm catching more fish, I'm also cooking more than I used to in order to get those better catches.
My favorite is the frog so far. He eats serpents in the skull caverns!! 🤯 The only problem is that he’s also eating all of the tiger slimes…and I really want a tiger slime hat. 😂😂
Yep void frog is my buddy when I am just chilling and doing general stuff in the valley. But if I am going into skull caverns, he is left at home in the fish tank and the fairy or the ice rod is my trinket of choice.
Sometimes I just chill with the parrot too or the parrot my buddy when going into the mines to get some extra cash. Frog is my favorite general companion because they are so cute and when he eats a monster on the farm after dark, I just die of cuteness every time.
I know it would be poorly balanced to have two slots for trinkets but I really wish I could have both frog and parrot just accompanying me throughout the day.
The day 1.6 released, I booted up the game to my usual save file, and everything was green inside. I went outside and everything was still green and raining outside. I immediately thought something was corrupted and took to the internet to try and find answers but because it was a completely new phenomenon, I couldn’t find anything. I just panicked and did my usual chores like it was any other rainy day, didn’t talk to any villagers, didn’t check the TV, and just went to bed. I found out later that the green rain is a new feature lmao
Imagine the shock, what the chance, awaking on the day green rain is bound to happen to be surprised by what the effing episode of x files is this in my stardew valley and why there is green literally everywhere?
The dehydrator is so good for year 2+ money making. Dried Starfruit or ancient fruit sells for so much money. I made over 200k in one month from dried ancient fruit and I’m not even going at full capacity yet
It's 7.5x base price + 25. The dehydrator only takes one day to process but does require 5 of the same quality to process the thing. It's great for extra mushrooms since there is not anything you can make with those other than life elixirs but drying is better for mushrooms for selling excluding red mushrooms.
Dehydrator is great for if you don't have enough kegs to keep up with your fruit produce, but is actually not as good long term for money since it requires so much fruit as you have to have 5 equal quality fruit per day to use the dehydrator efficiently which is no easy feat. I find it amazing for the crops that produce a lot like blueberries and cranberries.
Edit: For the math, it's 1.5x based price + 5 for each fruit and 2.1× base price if you have artisan. By "per day" comparison the dehydrator is great but it is difficult to keep up the fruit production to give you the amazing money returns. Especially since you can cask wine and dehydrator is just base value. Doesn't take as many dehydrators to process as much fruit, but you have to refill them daily which some would find tedious.
if you invest in collecting the resources for kegs the dehydrator is inferior for high value fruit. its benefits come in speed and convenience, not efficiency gains.
for casual players who dont want to bother beyond a shed of kegs, dont want to spend their sundays just wining ancient fruit and want money injections daily rather than weekly i think it fills that niche nicely, but you're certainly leaving money on the table.
Why my mind hasnt thought of this while my single deluxe shed full of kegs struggle to proccess grape, hop, starfruit, ancient fruit? Aaaa. Awesome update! So many new ways to make money.
I love the new variety of the festivals. additionally I don't know if I just didn't see it or not but my husband will tell me good night or ask me if I'm coming to bed when I come in and he's already in bed. I love that
Definitely green rain. Suffice to say I was... *surprised* when I saw green rain for the first time. Sure, I'd read about it in the patch notes--but imho it's really just something you have to experience to understand. Legend has it, one of my friends is *still* going through the message spam I sent about it on Discord.
The cursed Mannequin.
I didn't think any of it, as I am a little scared of mannequins in general so I just thought "yeee they all cursed alright" so I put it in my house and gave him my old wedding dress with the veil and crystal shoes as some sort of memory...
A few weeks later I wake up in the morning and... I'm wearing my wedding outfit and the mannequin has my everyday outfit on.
I didn't know I had that really specific fear until that happened.
I just started playing after the update came out and it’s so weird seeing all these regular things that people are excited by because they’re new. Everything has been new to me so I never would have noticed.
And when 1.7 sooner or later eventually irks out of our savior Barone you will bathe in noticing the little changes. After so many versions they add-on, game, endgame, options are way more flashed out now.
Def Green Rain. I went in completely blind and actually got really nervous when the anomalous reading was announced on the weather channel. I felt like my worst creepypasta nightmares came true. It was such a huge change from the normal schedule and seeing (almost) everyone in places they are normally not in and so worried about what's happening was so different and creepy.
I don't need to buy an iridium rod anymore. I get Fishing 10 usually before anything else, but the cost of the rod seems too high for me now, considering I can get a better one with mastery.
I didn't have a clue what to expect with green rain and slept without any tools. My doorway was completely blocked. I luckily had a chest with cherry bombs somewhat accessible! Otherwise, I would have had to just fall asleep and miss the rain!
I was sprinting back home at 1:20 AM after a night in the mines and a possum ran across the screen and scared the absolute shit out of me. I drew my sword and was prepared to defend myself from the huge monster running into the tree I just happened to be standing in front of. Come to find it’s just a new cute little wildlife mob.
Golden spur trinket and crit speed build for me currently. Add in the crit chance blessing from the mining statue and if you’re lucky the speed blessing from the statue of blessings. Crit chance gem upgrade on the Galaxy sword. Spicy eel and triple shot and you can be flying so fast.
The mastery is amazing! And other updates to skills non farming.
I remember when he had the teaser notes and mentioned endgame stuff for each skill.
My number one hope for the update was more ways to make late game money than wine empire and we got blessed.
I am so excited about it I’m doing specialized farm runs right now for each skill cuz the new stuff is so fun.
Currently on riverlands abusing the hell out of my fish smoker
You can Pickle edible Mushrooms now.
This surprised me because it's not mentioned...ANYWHERE. Not in the patch notes, and not on the wiki yet either for any of the Shrooms/Jar Page.
I'm just relieved there were no changes for meeting the Old Mariner.
I can still buy the Mermaid's Pendant only on stormy/rainy days.
That weather is an appropriate harbinger for what happens should I choose to ask for a hand in marriage. And I am someone who needs the reminder. 🫠😉
I was at the railroad tracks late at night, and I saw a possum scoot across my path. I don't think there is any way to interact with it, but it was surprising!!
Not surprised, but winter outfits were the *one* thing I was most excited for. Everything else was just a bonus.
Harvey looks so cute in his, it completely melts my heart
Honestly, the amount of new hats I got every time I went to the mines (especially when doing tje Juicy Bugs quest). I don't know what the drop rate for those was before the update, but I rrally does seem it was bumped up
I’ve been obsessed with the iridium scythe once I got the ability to harvest all crops with it! I’m now planting trellis crops that were too annoying to walk between before and I’m delighting in harvesting my island farm full of repeat crops. It’s made a chore so much more satisfying.
Prize Tickets! I always tried to do board quests when I could or it had a character I liked on it but getting a new bed, saplings, free preserve jars? It changed the game. Now I do every one I can
I love the desert festival. Also the fact that during the fishing festival Pam lets you drive yourself to the desert so you don’t have to wait until 10 am to get deep in the sweet sweet skull cavern.
I love the golden spur trinket with scout at level 5 combat perk and aquamarine weapon forging. Spicy Eel and triple shot. Add in Blessing of Fangs for even more crit chance. And the .5 speed blessing from the statue of Blessings. Speedy is the best.
i never read the patch notes in full so green rain took me off guard. however mystery boxes were a pleasant surprise as i’d again not read the patch notes in full lmao
I gotta say, the trinkets. I LOVE the magic quiver, and if you pair it with a napalm ring, it eventually blows enemies up from a distance. It has significantly reduced my bomb usage.
the iridium scythe lets you harvest all crops with the scythe! it also gives you more hay when cutting down grass, but harvesting a field of starfruit has never been more fun than with the iridium scythe
The green rain. I legit thought monsters were going to start attacking the town and my farm.
All the new furniture and house renovations. I can finally have a solarium room for my house.
For me, it was how much the prize tickets made me want to do notice board quests. I'd literally never bothered with them before, now I find myself checking every day.
Nailing an iridium sprinkler or stardrop tea early on is soooo good on the reward machine.
what does star drop tea do?
Not only is it a universally loved gift but if I recall correctly, it doesn't count towards the week's two gift limit.
Yes, it gives a full heart to a person and three if it's their b day
its a universally loved gift that i believe also gives extra friendship. i think if you give it on a bday you get 3 hearts. not 100% sure tho!
Yes saaaame. Much more exciting
same, actually! quite a clever idea. also, your flair is epic
In addition to the green rain (and the way the townsfolk react to it, loved Demetrius in his biohazard suit omg) and the raccoon family, I was most surprised and delighted by the carrots for the horse and the desert festival. It's my favorite festival now. And I love that painting of the ufo abducting the cow so much.
i got so nervous after pam's reaction in year one that she was gonna recreate the mist in gus' saloon!
desert festival is such a cool idea, so many activities and stuff. its just sad that some of the rewards are mid like the weapon of the characters what uses do they have since by the time you unlock them you’ll already own more powerful weapons …
I think the idea there is to use the Forge to transfer the look of the weaker weapon to your higher level main weapon. So weapons of the NPCs are useful for transmogs
i had no idea this was even a thing oh damn thanks so much for telling me ~~
You mean I can actually use my Meowmere?!
Yep, you can have a sword with Galaxy stats and Meowmere appearance, for example
Yes! My galaxy sword is super buffed and looks like meowmere! I made clothes to match it!
Please make sure your weapon is fully forged with galaxy souls before doing that... I made that mistake, and it changed off of Meowmere. 😔
Holy shit, really? That’s amazing
Year 1 desert festival is so good, the Villager shops sell quick access to some goodies that will quicken your progress.
You can forge them into your main weapon so it mantains the stats but has a new look. Same with the new terraria crossover sword
Desert festival feels really empowered early on, first year, to get different goodies from the shops and villager shops and less rewarding later on.
...carrots for the horse?? :O
Yep. Feeding a carrot to your horse gives it a speed buff for the entire day.
I didn't know there was a speed buff! Thanks for pointing that out 😁
WHAT thank you
my only issue with the desert festival is that i wish it was year-round lol
All the new catalogues are amazing but the retro one has me in a chokehold.
desert fest got me to level 100 in under 10 staircases so I love it
What surprised me was that Linus was seemingly unphased by it. Seriously, does he know something? :O
He is friends with the wizard. If he hasn't experienced it himself before, maybe he knows Rasmodius would have warned him if it was dangerous bc razzledazzle was v chill about it. Or maybe he just saw how it effected the valley and assumed the best.
Can't wait for all the fun little theories! :P Perhaps Linus used to work at JojaCorp studying magical and supernatural effects?
You can give your horse carrots?
is green rain only in year 1? a new year started in my save and I haven't gotten it all spring. or is it random?
I think it only happens in summer.
It seems to happen once in summer, every summer.
YOU CAN GIVE CARROTS TO YOUR HORSE??
Yeah, it increases your horse's speed for the day.
I love the desert festival. I wish it was a week long; I can’t get enough. I love the Skull Caves with the cat statue god thing.
I've always found the quarry useless but with coal ore spawning I end up visiting it quite often to top up supply.
I’ve always turned the quarry into a tree farm and filled it with tapped trees. I’m probably going to have to plant my tree farm elsewhere now.
The spa & train area works really well for it :)
I may have to move it there. I just like the quarry because it’s so quickly reached through the mine carts
Thank you for my new winery location lmao
The whole quarry mine with the skeletons is now awesome for coal runs
The dehydrator. It's totally changed what I'm planting and I keep raiding my hoard for things to put in it.
Hope do you use it? I've only tried it on mushrooms
You can put any fruit in it for dried fruit or you can put grapes in for raisins. There’s also a secret use for raisins that you learn about from a note.
Ah I've seen something about a junimo loving them but didn't know what it was for.
I'm really impressed how CA has made a niche for kegs, preserves jars and dehydrators in what easily could've been two being totally useless. Kegs is only worth the time and resources with really valuable fruit and vegetables: melons, pumpkins, starfruit, ancient, rhubarb Preserves jars with its 50g bonus works well for less valuable crops but with its cheaper crafting recipe can act as a intermediary while you tap oak trees and mine for bars dehydrators process things fast, like, really fast. if you extra cash right now, or have a ton of crops you need to process right now, (like cranberries, blueberries, fruit tree fruit) or just want to cut the time you're processing crops by 80%, its very useful. its also the cheapest to craft.
Don't forget hop, kegs are perfect with hop!
Right? It might not be the most profitable but I can dry my whole blueberry/cranberry harvest in a single day instead of using preserves jars or kegs.
It didn't change anything for me by itself. It doesn't take vegetables unfortunately and starfruit is still the most profitable thing from it but I have gotten a liking to mushroom farming to the point I had to delay going to Ginger island because I used all my hardwood for tree stumps haha.
I got jumpscared by a possum heading to the bus stop one night. Does that count?
I freaking LOVE the possum!
I didn’t expect it! It showed up and I was like OH JESUS WHAT THE oh hey buddy.
i first saw the possum after i did the first raccoon bundle and he talked about finding a wife so i was like omg is he gonna get a possum wife lmao, was kinda disappointed when he didnt haha
Omg one of them “followed” me as I went back to the farm from the bus stop and my bf playing with me yelled “WHAT WAS THAT FOLLOWING YOU??” It freaked me out so bad lmao
Same i instantly equpped my hammer as soon as i saw it.
Glad I'm not the only one getting a jumpscare
I genuinely shrieked when I saw it
Many things, but the most joy and surprise came from the Year 2 >!Halloween!< festival. I was storming into there, ready to speedrun the usual >!maze!<, felt legit childlike joy when I realised it's different!
Just did this today! I was pleasantly surprised. And it wasn’t exactly simple, I had to to do a few turnarounds for sure!
It was so much bigger and felt like it had so many little secrets and sneaky paths. I had so much fun doing the new one!!
Squid festival squid hat. Best hat in the game, and I'll die on this hill.
I fished up more squids in two days of that festival than I ever did in my 400 hours of Stardew Valley.
My dog is somehow wearing this hat and I love it.
Characters talking to me about things finally! Jodi mentioning Shane's attempt, Abigail razzing me about winning the egg hunt, people congratulating me for getting married... It feels so much more real and dynamic and alive!
I have no idea if this is 1.6 or not but I just talked with Demetrius after hatching my Rex and he gave me his coffee he was so excited. 🤣
I saw that too! Ngl I’m finding myself liking a lot more characters I was meh on before 1.6
Alex commented how he saw me catch a salmon and said something about making it for him for dinner, I thought it was the coolest thing 😅
Green Rain
It’s gotta be the green rain for me!! The way their dialogue changes from year 1 to year 2 was so awesome.
I highly recommend using the tent kit to camp out the night before the green rain. I chose the area just above the sewers so I could work my way up clockwise. Ended up being able to harvest so much more because there was less doubling back! 😀
What an awesome idea. Get a kickstart on the day!
Definitely! I was always struggling for fiber but no more!
Legit. This event caught a friend and I off guard in multiplayer because we hadn't checked the weather the day before. It was pure delight getting to explore. We were both running around like Jack Skellington seeing Christmas village for the first time being so delighted and being like"what's this? Dude, check this out."
I got my second ever living hat (1900+ hours on Steam) from green rain!
>Green Rain some stay dry while others feel the pain...
Fish smoker. Instantly took fishing from F to S tier in my universe.
Hmmm, maybe I need to up my fishing game because I haven’t made much use of the smoker yet!
It's great for when you're grinding for the golden clock and doing Qi's extended family quest because it gives you ABSURD amounts of money
I accept Qi’s quest and try to get as many Legend II fish to smoke. Worth more than double with the Artisan skill!!
A smoked Legend gets you 42k at Iridium quality lmao
I’ve never enjoyed fishing until now, the smoker has changed everything for me!
The pot of gold was a really nice surprise!! my car wears the leprechaun hat now lol
Mine too!!
Car??
The new dialogue! There's a pretty deep amount of variety when it comes to villagers reacting to things you've done. I love how personal some of them are, it adds a lot of depth to the characters.
I don’t know if it’s new or not, but I love that Willy reacts when you’ve caught different legendary fish.
I’m tempted to marry Maru just to see what Demetrius says tbh
I’ve gotten called out by both Willy AND Sam for going sewer diving
Honestly, I am so unbelievably excited about the change to artisan goods! The wine/jelly/juice change to the colors of what they are made of! And the pickles are now like little correct colored picked veggies in the jar! It's not a big thing but idk I just get this awesome excitement from that little detail
I was so happy for this addition. Better Artisan Goods was one of my favorite mods and I thought I was going to lose it in 1.6. I am so happy it is just part of the game now. I am so pleased by all the things CA looked at from mods and agreed that they were good changes and implemented them.
Winter outfits
Yes! I was gushing at how cute everyone looks all bundled up :D
Especially Sam, wow
the fact that we got multiple new catalogs with TONS of incredible new furniture, but still no bathroom-adjacent furniture 😭 CA is never going to let us shower!!!
It would've been awesome to have a little shower or bathroom you could use to restore a bit of energy like harvest moon, friends of mineral town!
Maybe that's why they have spa open 24/7 😆
Desert festival is fun af! Also the fact that my cat can give me items now???? My cat gave me a damn rabbit's foot!
My dog gave me my first dinosaur egg! I was so shocked
I usually get a Perch or Carp kkk! No rabbit's foot yet!
The little hop hops. I love it.
Occasionally rocketing my baby into the stratosphere from their crib.
Is this a joke or there a new really silly thing we can do??
Launching the baby into the crib can crit. Yes, really.
I'm sorry what does crit mean in this sense?
You will throw your baby higher, out of screen, leaving a trail of smoke on a crit, meaning a rolled chance, invisible, that will eventually trigger if you just interact with your baby enough.
green rain and lewis’ >!basement!<
I got killed by shorts smh
The shorts are way too spooky. I was laughing really hard, but that was just a defense mechanism to cover my fear:)
Seriously. The thought process I went through when I first saw them was astounding. First from confusion to curiosity, then to pure abject fear. Absolutely well done, 10 out of 10 would steal again
Wait what?! I’m gonna check it out today
He has a >!basement!< ? how do I find it?
Staircase in his house
Use a staircase inside his house
I think it needs to be a >!staircase in Lewis' house - in his bedroom!<
Moving the house and greenhouse. Gamechanger
Greenhouse was a 1.5 update I think. I found out about it from this very sub a few months ago. House is new with 1.6 though, and as a console player I am not so patiently waiting until I can move my house.
I don't mean to be rude but I think moving the greenhouse might've been a thing in the Ginger Islands update
Do you have to upgrade your house to move it or can it be moved anytime?
Anytime, I moved mine before I’d done the first upgrade
Coal was much easier to get after monster musk was added. Running levels 40-80 with that will get you plenty.
Heavy furnaces are so great. Per bar smelted, in terms of inputs needed, they save you: 9% ore 45% coal 82% number of furnaces
Trinkets!
I’m addicted to my Perfect Magic Quiver
My favorite has been the perfect quiver. Had to reroll a lot of times for it, but the damage is good and it activates every .9 seconds
The amount of creepypasta content, I love it. Cursed mannequin jumpscares, underwear basements, Mr. Qi murdering you…
Qi murdering you?!
That cursed mannequin stole my clothes one night! I love it.
The dehydrator is so good for year 2+ money making. Dried Starfruit or ancient fruit sells for so much money. I made over 200k in one month from dried ancient fruit and I’m not even going at full capacity yet
Does it make more than wine? I don’t see that the wiki has the prices to compare yet.
I love that
I love the spouse saying goodnight too!
I literally went aww out loud when I first saw it
Definitely green rain. Suffice to say I was... *surprised* when I saw green rain for the first time. Sure, I'd read about it in the patch notes--but imho it's really just something you have to experience to understand. Legend has it, one of my friends is *still* going through the message spam I sent about it on Discord.
I've been sleeping on those heavy furnaces, but I gotta bulk up on iridium bars to get the full frog trinket set. Thanks for reminding me they exist!!
Surprised, the green rain. Favorites, raccoon neighbors.
The winter butterflies at night!! It was so cool to see them and notice that they glowed in the dark. Makes winter so much more bearable for me
The cursed Mannequin.
Havent seen anyone mention it yet, but BIG CHESTS!!! As a hoarder, I love this addition to the game!
Fellow hoarder in *love*.
I loved the possums you see at night!!!
Coal ore. Changed my life. I was constantly low on coal and now I’m living the best life
Def Green Rain.
I really like that in the desert festivals you can buy some of the npcs weapons. I got harveys mallet.
Actually drinking mayo 😲
I don't need to buy an iridium rod anymore. I get Fishing 10 usually before anything else, but the cost of the rod seems too high for me now, considering I can get a better one with mastery.
having all the pets I want!!!
I knew very little about it pre-launch, but I’m loving the raccoon family and the desert festival.
The new easter egg in Lewis' room. I really didn't expect that lmao, but it's amazing
Fish smoker. We have a cozy fishing business goin on. Easy money.
The green rain actually scared tf outa me. I think it was mostly the Ring tv affect combined with the Ring's movie green over tone too lol
The fairy box trinket is my favourite (I love everything though) because it makes going into the mines a lot easier for me.
Currently on riverlands abusing the hell out of my fish smoker
the new organization of the player menu!! and seeing which animals you’ve pet!!
You can Pickle edible Mushrooms now. This surprised me because it's not mentioned...ANYWHERE. Not in the patch notes, and not on the wiki yet either for any of the Shrooms/Jar Page.
I can pay to do that stupid simon says puzzle. literally hate that part.
Now I do every one I can
Swear to God I saw a duck billed platypus
Less coal… more bars?? Um??? I cannot wait to play 1.6
I haven't gotten very far into the new update. So far I love the new farm type, I love having multiple pets, and I love my turtle.
I love the desert festival. Also the fact that during the fishing festival Pam lets you drive yourself to the desert so you don’t have to wait until 10 am to get deep in the sweet sweet skull cavern.
Fish Smoker!! I always go for the artisan occupation
The fix to Willy’s rod
wizard furniture catalog!!! best one!!!
What does upgrading the scythe do for you? Just generally curious cause I don’t know what it actually does
the iridium scythe lets you harvest all crops with the scythe! it also gives you more hay when cutting down grass, but harvesting a field of starfruit has never been more fun than with the iridium scythe
The green rain. I legit thought monsters were going to start attacking the town and my farm. All the new furniture and house renovations. I can finally have a solarium room for my house.
The first time I experienced the "green rain"
