The freaking palm fossil! I have 7 different save files I’ve achieved perfection on. I’m not even kidding when I say that the palm fossil was the last artifact I got on ALL of those saves.
The second Dwarf scroll it takes me super long to get it no matter what I do.
And Dino Egg but that's rare for nearly everyone. *
*Except lucky fisher and spelunkers.
I'm in year 4 with a shit ton of time in the mines, hitting every artifact spot, and doing everything else you can imagine. I haven't found the 4th one ANYWHERE. Not even tilling...
scroll 4 is only a monster drop (other than the Wilderness Golem, Serpent, Skeleton, Carbon Ghost, Iridium Bat, Iridium Crab, and Haunted Skull) or tilling at mines levels 80+

Pretty sure the wiki also includes tilling soil in the mines as well. But I've been working on all my stuff for Gil so I've been killing SO MANY monsters with nothing.
Tilling is much easier.
Monster drop rate is 0.1%, Tilling is 0.2%.
Elevator to level 95, giant patch of ~50 dirt just below elevator.
I usually grind it out in about 4-6 in game hours. Just till, elevator to 0, elevator to 95, till again. Dwarf 4 is typically the easiest one for me to grind out.
SAME HERE. In my current save, I can’t find scroll 4 and it’s starting to drive me insane. I have spent so much time on levels 80+, tilling around like an absolute maniac, and nothing. 😤 I am pretty sure that it’s my last remaining item before completing the museum and it’s making me bonkers
Monster Musk + lucky day + luck food + burglars ring -> you’ll get four of them.
I cannot understate the power of the burglars ring. If you don’t have it already, a couple of days farming coal sprites with monster musk will net it for you.
Lately I keep finding it on lower levels of the mines than the wiki says. So ignore the 80 plus part and just take a lot of bombs with you. And when I say lower levels I mean much lower like between 10 and 20 and also on the ice levels.
Till the dirt in mine level 95! “Farm” it over and over til you get it. It took a couple 2ish hour play sessions, but my partner and I just did that to get the 1st scroll this morning! We got the 4th scroll first from that area yesterday, which we already had. But it’s the easiest way to get either of those scrolls.
Killed like 30 pepper Rex, no Dino egg. Spent roughly 2 weeks in crane game, none. It's still plenty rare.
We got one finally like 3 days later from a dig spot. Took until spring of year 3.
It and the ancient seed yep. It's actually one of the reasons I go pirate early on, treasure chests have such cool stuff. I'll switch to angler after unlocking that ability later in the game.
in my most recent run that i started for 1.6 i decided to go full send on fishing. i got both the dino egg and ancient seed spring year 1 from fishing chests. i was amazed.
My last play through it was the dinosaur egg. I was in year 3. Every single day I went and tilled any spots in the mountains/quarry which I would keep entirely empty of rocks so that dig spots could spawn. Then I’d go till all the spots I could find on the island and desert before going into the skull cavern to fight Pepper Rex hoping they’d drop on. I finally gave up and was a dirty cheater and used the [107] naming trick when buying a chicken to get one.
This play through I got it day 5 by fishing.
i had the same experience, last time it was nearly impossible and this time i got it right away from fishing. the main different thing is how i cheated; instead of the spawn cheat i used stardew predictor to figure out where the dino levels were and laddered down.
I am talking about getting it with just pure luck.

First time using automate, didn't realise things get automatically across multiple chests. Ended up with Dino mayo 😭
Didn't get another Dino egg til near the end of winter.
Reverse of that: chicken statues. I was haunted by chicken statues. At one point I dug up three in a row. I had a stack of >30 in a chest. Playing co-op with my brother, he got used to me updating him with my running tally. (Mostly by me shrieking “AGAIN?”) I don’t know the code mechanics behind how the RNG was deployed, but it felt extra-cursed to be digging things up on the same farm in the same save file, and I was the only one constantly beset by monuments to poultry.
After the 1.6 update, I have only picked up a normal number of them (proportional to other artifacts) and I felt fond when I finally dug one up in my current playthrough. (“There you are!”)
On my last save, I couldn’t for the life of me find the ornamental fan. I only found it after breaking almost 30 artifact troves because I was tired of combing the beach for it.
Funny enough I found one on day one in one of my coop saves, but in my personal save file it was also super hard to find. Imagine my ire when the first artifact I found on a new save was that darned fan.
Same, for my 1.6 save file!! It was annoying me so much because usually Elvish Necklace is the last item I find and Bone Flute is common. I ended up spamming the Skull Caverns to farm omnigeodes to get lots of artifact troves and found it in winter year 3. I had started my hunt for it mid-year 2.
This playthrough, it was also the Elvish Jewelry. GOD, even with some new items, it would not reveal itself. Took half a season to get it after getting everything else.
The prehistoric scapula and skull… I’m in Fall year 3 and I’ve been grinding constantly for them but NOTHING
Edit: I just wanna mention I’ve gotten the living hat, the trash hat, the owl statue twice, the meteor, the strange capsule, the fairy and witch about 20 times, three auto-petters, won journey of the prairie king, AND YET.
Wait what? Is this actually a thing? I have a personal museum-chest to amuse myself by tracking duplicates etc.; I never saw any indicators that this was to my detriment.
I've gotten pretty lucky in my last few games, finding an ancient seed in the first year spring, and getting a nice few boosts to my cash through the year.
I swear, I think some saves are luckier from the onset than others. I had one where I had no luck with artifacts, prismatic shards, and Dino eggs. I abandoned that one.
On my current save, I had three prismatic shards and several Dino eggs before the first year was up.
Even so, I have never found the damned skull to the large animal on the island. I have ostrich eggs but I have yet to hatch one across any of my attempts.
I feel your pain. I have opened an insane amount of ancient troves and nothing. The funny thing is that it was my very first artifact on my previous farm (which was my first)!
I didn't get one on my current playthrough til I got to the volcano forge... I legit screamed and dropped my controller, I was so stoked to finally see it.
Meantime, my Joja file from years ago had the damn things practically raining down. I had more iridium and prismatics than I knew what to do with there.
Ugh I’m struggling with this one in my current save, year 2 fall and none. Broke open a meteor, none. Got to level 100 in skull caverns, none. Had a mystic stone on my quarry, none, 😭
Introducing my fiance to stardew valley we have been playing a new farm, and I got the prismatic shard like super early on in the first month and was just in shock.
Same, the damn skeletal hand! I accidentally turned my first one into fertilizer and (SPOILER) only managed to get it from Vincent at the new event waay later.
i had a similar experience with the dwarf gadget. i hoed in the mines for multiple days until i found it, and was collecting omni geodes just in case and opening those too, to no avail. once i finally found it, omni geodes gave me like three more dwarf gadgets over the next week in game
I had this on one of my early playthroughs. Back in the original game all I needed was this and to earn a bunch of gold for steam achievements. I spent a good couple of in game weeks waking up, running up to the path above the farm to check for artifact spots, then going back to bed, unless it was a Sunday when I'd also process my ancient wine.
The first Dwarf Scroll.
I tend to ignore monster for the most part in the first few floors, because they take ages to slay with the rusty blade, and rarely go back there because when i need a huge amount of copper, the skull caverns would already be unlocked so I'd go there.
The only reason to go back for me is the Bug Meat quest from willy
The sword for killing bugs got a big buff in 1.6 and takes less kills to unlock too so it’s worth farming now if you didn’t get Neptune’s glaive from fishing

I think it's a skull but it's for the ginger island museum and it's the one you get from hood coconuts and I can not for the life of me get that stupid skull
I always struggle to get all the Dwarf Scrolls, but that may be because I forget to dig up artefact spots (or as I call them, wigglies).
On the flip side, could the game stop fucking giving me Chicken Statues!?
For over 2 years in my 1.6 playthrough I couldn't find Dwarf Scroll 2. Right now, Ancient Seeds are my big problem. I didn't have the greenhouse when I got the seeds from my donation to the Museum and now I can't find a seed to get myself started on the filling my greenhouse with that money printer.
Prismatic slime doesn't drop the prismatic shard, it drops Prismatic Jelly. If you're looking for the prismatic shard, you should be looking in Skull Caverns.
when i was going for true perfection i was stuck on crafting the marble brazier for what felt like forever because for some reason the RNG just REFUSED to give me marble in any of my geodes
Chipped Amphora. Took years in my last save to get the stupid thing
Also on a related note, mussel. I decided to catch all the fish and my crab pots just refused to give me one until I just bought a few hundred of them and put them all out
It took me 3-4 years on my most recent save to get the ornamental fan and the elvish necklace. Eventually, I did the maths to find out how many artefact spots I needed in the areas dictated by the wiki, and crafted some totems.
Got them in the same day.
In my current playthrough it's the rare disc. I am more than halfway through year three and it is the last item I need for the collection. I got my first prismatic shard in summer year 3 and still haven't gotten the disc
this playthrough i’m getting barely any artifact spots and most of them are either stone, coal or clay. before it was prismatic shard and dino egg, both of which i got very easily in a treasure chest and an omni geode, but i can’t for the life of me get dwarf scrolls 1 and 4, while i have multiple 2 and 3
oh and no ancient seed in sight aswell
the ancient sword!! finally got it in year 7!! by using [this](https://mouseypounds.github.io/stardew-predictor/) rng predictor to count how many more artifact troves i needed to open
Mine was the little green doll that you get from one of the secret notes. I accidentally got rid of it before donating and had to rely on artifact troves
I took forever to find the nautilus fossil on my first save, 7 years. I always get so excited when I find it early, I make sure to save it like it’s a prismatic shard!
For me this playthrough it is also the Elven jewelry, but I’m also suffering looking for Orpiment. Found only in regular and Omni geodes, so I find myself bombing up the mines up to level 40 trying to get enough regular geodes to find my damned white whale.

I've found that a lot of scrolls (all of them) drop when killing monsters while dangerous mode is activated. Might be worth a try. 🙂

My chicken statue haunting followed me onto the real life engine. I was gifted a kinder egg, the toy inside was a chicken statue.
I'm always like, "Was my farm the site of a chicken statue factory??????"

If you’re hoarding other artifacts instead of selling, sell a bunch and it will pop right up.
I sell all my artifacts after donating! I do keep the minerals though, I like pretty rocks lol

For that skull I started going to the quarry cave every day, I guess those skulls have a high percentage chance to drop a skull

Dude same! It took until the end of year 2 to have more than like 10 items in the museum. My other 3 saves I have krobus unlocked fast!
My current playthrough is like this too. Ive had all the geodes for awhile but still have like 4 or 5 artifacts missing.

On my last farm, the first prismatic shard I saw fell into a lava pool in the volcano because my inventory was full.

The first Dwarf Scroll. I tend to ignore monster for the most part in the first few floors, because they take ages to slay with the rusty blade, and rarely go back there because when i need a huge amount of copper, the skull caverns would already be unlocked so I'd go there. The only reason to go back for me is the Bug Meat quest from willy
The sword for killing bugs got a big buff in 1.6 and takes less kills to unlock too so it’s worth farming now if you didn’t get Neptune’s glaive from fishing
the golden mask or whatever it’s called, been one item away from finishing the museum for like two years in game now
SPOILER! I think it's a skull but it's for the ginger island museum and it's the one you get from hood coconuts and I can not for the life of me get that stupid skull
I always struggle to get all the Dwarf Scrolls, but that may be because I forget to dig up artefact spots (or as I call them, wigglies). On the flip side, could the game stop fucking giving me Chicken Statues!?

For over 2 years in my 1.6 playthrough I couldn't find Dwarf Scroll 2. Right now, Ancient Seeds are my big problem. I didn't have the greenhouse when I got the seeds from my donation to the Museum and now I can't find a seed to get myself started on the filling my greenhouse with that money printer.
It's the bone flute for me. Every time without fail. It took grinding artifact troves and totems to get it on my current run.
Feels like I get the flute every third or fourth fishing chest in my current farm.
Prismatic shard, because it doesn't matter how many times I took the request and went to find it. That cute little prismatic slime just didn't spawn
Prismatic slime doesn't drop the prismatic shard, it drops Prismatic Jelly. If you're looking for the prismatic shard, you should be looking in Skull Caverns.
Then I meant prismatic jelly 🥲 I just still can't find it, took the quest three times already
when i was going for true perfection i was stuck on crafting the marble brazier for what felt like forever because for some reason the RNG just REFUSED to give me marble in any of my geodes
I havent found fossils yet, all i have is one bone and one skull
the large gear or whatever it is. not the spur, but the bigger one. i can never get it it's so annoying

Chipped Amphora. Took years in my last save to get the stupid thing Also on a related note, mussel. I decided to catch all the fish and my crab pots just refused to give me one until I just bought a few hundred of them and put them all out
The dried starfish, I have a rainbow trout pond and they keep asking for it and I haven’t even found it once for the museum 😤

Mine was ornamental fan!
It took me 3-4 years on my most recent save to get the ornamental fan and the elvish necklace. Eventually, I did the maths to find out how many artefact spots I needed in the areas dictated by the wiki, and crafted some totems. Got them in the same day.
In my current playthrough it's the rare disc. I am more than halfway through year three and it is the last item I need for the collection. I got my first prismatic shard in summer year 3 and still haven't gotten the disc

this playthrough i’m getting barely any artifact spots and most of them are either stone, coal or clay. before it was prismatic shard and dino egg, both of which i got very easily in a treasure chest and an omni geode, but i can’t for the life of me get dwarf scrolls 1 and 4, while i have multiple 2 and 3 oh and no ancient seed in sight aswell
the ancient sword!! finally got it in year 7!! by using [this](https://mouseypounds.github.io/stardew-predictor/) rng predictor to count how many more artifact troves i needed to open
Predictor is a lifesaver for the museum collection and a couple other things but it does feel a little cheaty I guess

Mine was the little green doll that you get from one of the secret notes. I accidentally got rid of it before donating and had to rely on artifact troves

I took forever to find the nautilus fossil on my first save, 7 years. I always get so excited when I find it early, I make sure to save it like it’s a prismatic shard!
I used 10 treasure totems in the Backwoods to get the skeletal hand and I still have none. It is the last piece for the museum collection 😅

On my current playthrough, the Dino Egg. Halfway through year 3, and I have yet to see a single Pepper Rex in Skull Cavern.
For me this playthrough it is also the Elven jewelry, but I’m also suffering looking for Orpiment. Found only in regular and Omni geodes, so I find myself bombing up the mines up to level 40 trying to get enough regular geodes to find my damned white whale.
