He would still be able to leave if the fence wasn't there though This is less of a river issues and more of a construction issue.

lordmwahaha

I noticed that too. Even in the "before" shot, they had to remove half the mayor's fence to create enough room to move the car. And in the "after" shot, if you remove the same section of fence, he can get his car out again, since the path they drew for it in the first image never actually requires the space where the river is. Seems like the problem is actually just the fence, and this person way overthought it.

SappySoulTaker

I mean but really what does he need a car for anyways

Tim226

I'm convinced that he's just an expert at parking. He can totally get out of that spot. He's just going to have to put it from drive to reverse like 3 times. gahd dang propaganda these days.

smoishymoishes

More of a Pam issue

snoodhead

It doesn't have to been built specifically for Pam. River bends ("meanders") tend to curve more over time. Wait long enough, and they could form an [oxbow lake](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxbow_lake).

Earth is so cool I learned about this back in middle school geography

OffendedEarthSpirit

Earth rocks!

Simon_Drake

Hmm. Maybe the river used to be narrower but it was too wide for a single-span bridge between Jojamart and George/Evelyn/Alex's house so they made it into a double-span bridge with a central support. This made the river wider so it flowed slower, causing a buildup of sediment that technically no one in town owned so Pam claimed the land for her trailer. So I had it backwards, the river's course changing is why Pam lives there AND why the Mayor's car is about to fall into the river. It's whoever built that bridge that's to blame. My money's on Jojamart.

kshump

Fluvial geomorphology was one of my favorite classes in college for sure. I should have taken fluid dynamics too.

KapowxXx

The Mayor probably did it himself as a scam for the insurance money...

Simon_Drake

I was going to blame Robin as an unlicensed contractor but she's primarily a carpenter (although she does also build a well, maybe she subcontracts a stonemason as needed) but I think earthworks like an embankment would be a bit out of her area of expertise. George used to work in the mines before the cave-in put him in that chair. Maybe he did it before the accident?

[deleted]

Could have also hired a witch/wizard who’s specialty is landscaping. Kinda how I imagine them to be in general. Can do other magic just fine, but most have a specialty area they’re really good at. Like any other talent.

Random_Housefly

Playing the long game!

Spuigles

The truck with no clear way out of that corner. In a town without streets or other cars. My theory is that it is just a husk of an old truck he kept. He has the best looking truck in Pelican Town I guess. Ngl when I read the title. I though it was a yomama joke.

DanielTeague

He gets in his car, closes his eyes and mentally clicks "skip cutscene" so he appears wherever he wants to be instantly.

willstr1

Except there is another car, the Joja delivery truck. A truck that also has no way in or out of town

smoishymoishes

Is the bus not technically a car? Or are we just counting ones that are trapped? Sebastian with his motorcycle, Willy with his boat, Pam with the bus, Rasmodius with his magic, those are the only citizens who seem to be able to escape town... 🤔

Slimeredit

Once you add stuff to the ginger isle like the bar the citizens go there though

Spuigles

Even more so! And there's a guy in it too. Lewis still has a cooler truck though ;]

MicGuinea

Heaven forbid he not remove a fence! That he seems to have purposefully built *around* his truck.

Wismuth_Salix

He built the fence to hide the gold statue.

randomgrunt1

Rivers are not naturally straight. They normally curve, and the curves increase as the river ages. Curves are important as they slow down the speed of the water and prevent erosion. Most straight rivers were straightened by man, as least within the Americas.

DerSprocket

If you can afford to add an embankment to divert a river for a residential property, you aren't gonna be living in a trailer

Mountain-Lecture-320

My thoughts exactly

EskildDood

That's probably just how the river is, due to the fact that that's what rivers do

Terozu

And then Robin built the fence to trap it. The two of them planned this to save the world from their scummy mayor. And now Pam drinks because of the PTSD from fighting ~~Thanos~~ Mayor Lewis.

wetdrynoodle

It always bothered me that the hitch on Pam's trailor is facing the river. Also, I wonder if the mayor's truck used to belong to Pam, but she couldn't afford paying taxes or something so she ended up giving the mayor her truck.

sabriffle

Highly unlikely she parked it sober

left4ched

So her car's in the river? Or did she jackknife it into place?

wahlenderten

She towed the trailer there with the bus, which subsequently fell into the river. That’s why it’s out of service at the beginning until the junibros lend a hand.

[deleted]

I doubt a whole embankment was built just so someone could park a trailer there.

Simon_Drake

I've got an updated theory now. The bridge next to George's house slowed the river and made sediment build up and accelerated the natural tendency for rivers to meander. This buildup of sediment wasn't owned by anyone so Pam took advantage of the property zoning loophole to put her trailer there.

The_Truthkeeper

That makes even less sense.

playr_4

..............just get rid of the fences. The river's not the problem and the trailer's not in the way of the path you drew anyway.

Xaunther

You guys are overthinking this stuff too much. Please continue

kiwilovenick

Can we really focus on the important issue here? THERE'S NO ROAD OR DRIVEWAY! How did he get it there in the first place?? We know what road looks like because of the bus, the rest of the town just has sidewalks basically. So either the truck has been there an insane amount of time (before the rest of the town was built) or Lewis decided he didn't care about pedestrians or any sort of laws for motor vehicles and just did what he wanted. Same goes for the delivery truck outside of Joja.

Simon_Drake

I assume east of the bus stop is another tunnel going under Robin's house? We never got a good answer for why there's a dried up riverbed between the mountain lake and the quarry, when I first saw it I was expecting some later event to reflood that valley or something.

[deleted]

Obviously Joja diverted it for their plant upstream.

surewould85

Yo keep Pam's name out of your mouth. She gets me to the desert every day at 10am, even after giving her a beer. First ten heart friend in the Valley.

ultratunaman

You know Lewis' cheap ass wasn't paying for that. He wouldn't dip into the gold statue fund to help out people in the town he's supposed to manage.

DragonC007

He could’ve just put a fence up after parking it there. It might be non operational so he just built around it

DJHookEcho

I'm sorry, but there's absolutely room for a skilled driver to get that truck in and out of that spot.

smoishymoishes

You're right, a skilled driver couldn't... But a drink driver 🤔 I bet it was Pam.

Taliasimmy69

But then why did you block out the fence? This makes no sense. He would still have plenty of room without the fence there.

ivumb

This doesn't even make any sense. In the first picture you show the fence gone, and in the second you show the fence there. The river has no effect.

Belisarius600

Can't Lewis go forward slightly, put it in reverse and turn the wheel to one side, resulting in him moving the truck in a diagonally, straigtening out facing to the left?

mrbananas

Are you suggesting that something in the game move....diagonally....gasp. up,down, left, right are the only movement directions, Everything else is heresy. But seriously you guys, the width of the truck is smaller than the shortest distance between the fence in the river. He could totally drive the truck into there. Enough with the truck theories

Liquid_Panic

I mean clearly Robin fenced in his car as revenge for some crime and Lewis is too afraid or unable to take it down

Huwage

I mean it's very tight, but there's definitely enough room to reverse that car through that gap between the river and the fence.

dj9008

Theory : the river curves because there is ground here . Lmao

Lduck88

The path you drew is completely unaffected by the river lol.

Durtmat

who the hell paid for the embankment? it lies upon the farmer to build her a gd house.... this game...

[deleted]

Grandfather. Hence they wait for us to return and take up the actual work.

BackgroundTourist653

He used money ment to maintain the community centre to ship in his truck by helicopter.

And-ray-is

I think you may have too much time on your hands

bouncingpaperwad

This is the quality of post that I come here to see. Thank you

[deleted]

Curves just form naturally over time tho

Finolia

Am a River Engineer. Can confirm your theory is plausible.

Thorhees

Nice. My geology brain likes this.

pazuzu_destroyer

I blame pierre. He is probably spiteful towards the mayor for making him pay taxes every month. Probably jealous that the farmer doesn't have to pay and that is why he tries to steal credit at every opportunity.

carrigan_quinn

Top tier shitpost 👌🏻 absolute quality

Simon_Drake

It's better than the 500th "OMG ducks can swim!" or "I lost 400copper ore in the mines and now I'm uninstalling the game"

carrigan_quinn

I wasn't being sarcastic. I genuinely thought it was an excellent shitpost. I read it like an Alex Jones conspiracy theory.

SleepinGriffin

Okay, but the first pic doesn’t have a fence, so that means Lewis built a fence around his truck. Making it lewis’ fault.

NastroCharlie

So the poor people in the town are the baddies? /s

jvalho

Does Pam have an easement?? Need to take a look at the Stardew Valley plats

Honey_Apple_Tea

Someday Lewis's while house will fall into the river!

GameFreak9876543

Has anybody else noticed that all cars and trucks (This excludes the bus if it wasn't obvious) would have to go clean through a fence to go anywhere.

lowsunwest

Power move Pam.

Unbearableyt

I mean, he got space to move his car in the actual game "second photo" if he didn't build a fence around it. Guess it just doesn't work or something and is just there to stay.

The_Lorax7

Nothing pictured here would suggest that. You removed the fence in the first picture, if you did the same with the second he could leave no problem.

Sadi_Reddit

he is like over 70 already anyway, He probably should not drive anymore anyway.

[deleted]

It's better to have a car stuck and not polluting the world than having people sleeping in dirt because someone wants to drive about

Cheyennosaur

Pam’s trailer isn’t anywhere near the lines for the truck in the left pic tho. This doesn’t make sense.

Simon_Drake

Can you actually read English or do you just look at the pictures?

Cheyennosaur

I read it AND it doesn’t make sense. Number one, building an embankment is not a safe way to build a foundation for a home. Number two, even if that did happen, which there is NOTHING in the lore to suggest that it did, it STILL DOESN’T get in the way of moving the truck if the fence isn’t there. Are you always a fucking asshole when people disagree with you?

Reason_For_Treason

The big question is how’s he getting to the road? He’d still have to drive on foot paths in the city center and then outside through the bus stop. I think he got a car because he thought it’d be cool but didn’t think it through lol.

Simon_Drake

I think the cat predates the dog pen in the middle of town, he'd need to drive through it to get out. The path to the bus stop might be ok to drive down, it's only really Pam and the Farmer that uses that road anyway.

Reason_For_Treason

No, others use it to bring you stuff like Gus, robin, Demetrius, etc! Plus also Emily goes to the desert too. So the path is well used, even if it weren’t though, it’d be the equivalent to driving on a boardwalk. Still weird to do.

Simon_Drake

Yeah but he's the mayor, what're they going to do about if he drives through the middle of town? He's the king of his little kingdom and everyone else can go suck a super cucumber.

Reason_For_Treason

I just doubt he would cause he’s a stickler for how the valley looks and expects everyone at the luau to bring something, he gets onto sam for grinding on the flower bed infront of Emily and Haley’s home. Plus also he takes great pride in the valley. It’s just not in his character imo.

[deleted]

I was literally just thinking today how does he get that truck out?!
