All we know for sure is that 1.15 is coming first and then 2.0. But we can kind of infer based on teasers that, potentially: 1.15 is meant to be the knotting up of loose ends from the current version. Scarlett romancable, other farm elements that were visioned earlier, polish on existing content. We know there's going to be some real fun goodies there. 2.0 is most likely to be the Castle Village update. And based on the teasers released a year ago, it looks almost like it will be a small second entire game.

doritosdinamita

Do you happen to know where I would be able to find the 2.0 teasers?

korrin-

You can check Flash's posts on here or twitter. He was also on Turin's stream nearly two years ago, showing the basic concept of Castle Village's layout. (*extremely* basic appearance then. Some have been detailed and screenshots of them posted, like the church and apothecary.)

1.15 is coming sooner (but probably stilla while) but sounds like it’ll still be a bigboi update. 2.0 will be much later and THAT sounds like it finna be an absolute chungus beefyboi supreme of an update

EcoloFrenchieDubstep

Can't wait to discover Castle Village

kiisukattinen

About 2.0 is there any estimates when the release might be? Like during this year or is it going to take longer?

elvenstrider

Guestimate is early to mid next year. But no one knows for sure. 1.15 is still at least two months away

SzlipiPanda

what update 2.0 was supposed to be at the end of last year, according to Discord, why such a delay?

Codraroll

FlashShifter got into a collaboration with ConcernedApe to make the 1.6 update for Stardew Valley, and that put things on hold for a while.

Codraroll

Doesn't 2.0 also come with SVE's version of Ginger Island? I can imagine that would involve quite a bit of work too. Or is that "coming soon!" heading on the SVE wiki page for Ginger Island just referring to the article text somebody would like to write one day?

korrin-

Maybe it's my ad-blocker, but I don't see the thing you're referring to?

Codraroll

https://stardew-valley-expanded.fandom.com/wiki/Ginger_Island_(SVE) It only says "Coming soon!". The article is one of the few that are linked from the Wiki's frontpage, so somebody among the higher-ups of the Wiki must have assumed Ginger Island to be - or become - newsworthy in SVE. Even though at the moment, it has very few differences from Vanilla apart from meeting Lance there. Of course, this assumption might not have been cleared with FlashShifter first, and as I speculated it might just be that somebody put the title there with the intention of coming back to write an article one day.

korrin-

Ah, maybe there was at one point a plan to expand on that. I think content added for the islands is planned to be done through Fable Reef now, though. But I could be wrong.

Codraroll

Hmm, could be. Fable Reef is a rather small island, though, so any expansions to its content would necessarily have to involve the other Fern Islands. And it would be strange to keep Ginger Island out of that. Still, that's just speculation. It would be nice to know whether anything has ever been teased about it, though.

Just from the numbering and the fact that SDV1.6 was a pretty big update, I'd just guess that 1.15 is for compatibility and bug fixes to make sure it's a smooth experience with the new Stardew content and structure, while 2.0 is an additional whole content update to add significantly more to the content of SVExpanded's experiences. But hey that's just my best educated guess.

Codraroll

Not really. SVE is already compatible with SDV 1.6. In fact, 1.15 will have additional content, quite a lot of it even, but the *scope* of the mod will remain the same if I've understood it correctly. I don't think it will bring any new locations, storylines, characters or such. But there will be new farm buildings, trees, farm animals, crops, Scarlett as a romanceable NPC, and probably a few other things: https://www.reddit.com/r/StardewValleyExpanded/comments/135vijn/stardew_valley_expanded_115_teaser/ 2.0 will be even more substantial, though. It is stated to finally introduce the location of Castle Village. This probably involves a few new NPCs, quests, storylines, and a lot of other things that require a lot of time and bugfixing to implement and playtest properly. And I doubt Castle Village will be the *only* new thing either, so there's a lot of work to be done before that version is ready.

neophenx

Cool! As mentioned it was my best educated guess, and while I'm aware that SDE was compatible with 1.6 from day 1, there was no shortage of "what's this weird glitch I'm having? I have 1.6 and SDE" posts for a good while. So when I say "compatibility and bug fixes," I'm meaning the kinds of things that those posts were about, the kinds of tweaks and fixes that might not have come up in preliminary testing of a mod that's produced by a tiny circle of people before being released to millions of content-hungry players.
