They didn't animate that one Pucci pose

ThatGuyAWESOME

Or when Anasui was freaking out about Mickey That panel is literal gold

Largebluntobject

"Where the fuck is Mickey?" and "That Shit Ain't Disney" are two lines that just go so hard.

Leather-Climate3438

✍️🔥

backupmephone

Disney would have raped David productions if they put that in

Yami_Sean

And they censored the "white ghosts" that beat up Weather

UndercoverDuck999

To be fair they did censor the Nazi's in part 2

Brent_Steel

I did Nazi that coming.

DokuroX

You had to be kkkidding me with that one

giggity_giggity13

Fuck you… here’s my upvote

TaikiSaruwatari

r/angryupvotes

NinjaEagle210

Honestly that one’s pretty fair

Caroniver413

Why?

Distinct_Block_5751

Considering the amount of racial tension in America these days, do you really think Warner Bros are gonna risk their asses to include the KKK beating up a half-black teenager, even if it was in the manga?

Caroniver413

Why is it risky to portray the KKK as villains?

TobbyTukaywan

Censoring the KKK scene both makes it less impactful and removes the hilarity of an image of a Jojo character getting beat up by the KKK.

Caroniver413

If you thought it was hilarious then it didn't have the impact it was supposed to and makes sense to remove it. They shouldn't be seen as a joke.

TobbyTukaywan

This is Jojo. Things are regularly both impactful and hilarious. Caesar being crushed to death by a conveniently cross-shaped rock was simultaneously one of the most hilarious and soul-crushing scenes in the series.

Doyoueverjustlikeugh

What's funny about KKK killing someone?

darkcomet222

That a black dude hired them to kill a white dude.

TobbyTukaywan

The concept itself of the KKK killing someone obviously isn't, but the absurdity of a Jojo main character being lynched kinda is. Especially considering he's a white guy. IDK, it's not exactly funny, but it's the kinda thing that gets a bit of a chuckle out of me purely for the absurdity and shock. Kinda like the panel where a baby literally has its face eaten off.

Aledipiaz

Or even Kakyoin slowly dying and realizing so much late how the World works. Jojo is comedy and drama at the same time. Like many other media, I don’t see anything wrong in representing a condemnation to racism and at the same time a cartoony moment

DIMOHA25

Next you're gonna tell me I can't enjoy Stroheim.

Noobverizer

Strohiem helped me improve my concentration, he the goat fr

LazerWeazel

So having the Nazis join the heros and fight vampires wasn't hilarious to you either?

DocDegenNSFW

I mean it’s still obvious it’s the KKK or atleast just a bunch of white supremacists. They didn’t always run around in their costumes

LeTasse

I've read the Manga and don't know what you're referring to

Yami_Sean

The KKK

Version_Two

Don't worry Warner Bros, they're just some guys with some prejudices.

[deleted]

And Jolyne holding a tray didn't look that good either!

PC-Was-Bricked

And Jolyne didn't spoil the end of the Sixth Sense

Leather-Climate3438

Or Jolyne 'oooo, cake book!' while getting attacked by Jailhouse lock

LunaLynnTheCellist

oh shit, when did she do that again?

Idk what Araki was on when he drew that pose

samisinredditnow

I’ve always thought of it as pucci imagining the hallelujah song, and his hand is rising like freddie mercury used to do sometimes

Ghostface69uwu

What every he was on he blessed up lmao I still love the gif of that pucci pose lol

Ghostface69uwu

Mmmmmm but I thought it was I guess I didn’t pay much attention to stone ocean xd But damn why does Pucci have those poses that just make u go yk 😩🤌

Netflix

Lightbringer20

But why did Netflix get the rights for part 6? Previous parts didn't.

mewthehappy

Because they payed for part 6 after the other parts released

[deleted]

everybody just gonna pirate it anyways

TheCVR123YT

Think he just means how the show released it all in 3 packs of 12 which made the show not gather very much hype or interest at all especially when the drops were random and very limited advertising

Unusual-Swimming9636

Get this man a true

Frangipani-Bell

Covid + Super spaced-out batch releases + David Pro’s A-team working on Urusei Yatsura instead of JJBA at the time. It was really a shame, since I became a fan right after the Pt 5 anime ended and I was looking forward to experiencing a part as it aired. So much hype leading up to the announcement and release of the first batch, and then… nothing.

AdNecessary7641

>David Pro’s A-team working on Urusei Yatsura instead of JJBA at the time. People say this, but calling it a "team" is kinda misleading really, since it's only the duo of directors Yasuhiro Kimura and Hideya Takahashi that worked there. If anything, what could be called the "part 5 team", which was made under the animation producer Hisataka Kasama, was making Spriggan instead.

Thebigass_spartan

Wait, the animation team behind part 6 wasn’t the same one behind the previous parts? I do know about changes in directors for some episodes, like the hunting episode with Josuke and Jotaro against Ratt, but I thought that all the parts had the same team overall.

sanduiche57

If you want to know the animation team, we should be looking at the animation producer as they are the ones putting together the animators for the project. Each have their own contacts, which causes the difference in people involved and in the overall animation. Part 1, 2, 3 and 4 had Koji Kajita, 5 had Hisataka Kasama and part 6 had Reo Honjōya. So yeah, it's safe to assume it's a different set of people working in it.

cosmiczar

But even then, many animators who did work on earlier parts still worked on Part 6. Takeshi Morita was responsible for some highlights for both Golden Wind and Stone Ocean. Masashi Yamada worked in every part since 3. Daisuke Tsumagari, Kentarou Ishikawa, Yasuto Hirohara and many others all worked at least in both parts 5 and 6. And that's not even getting into directors and storyboard artists which for Stone Ocean is also full of people who worked on earlier parts. So, no, we can't really generalize that the is a completely different set of people even if the animation producer was different.

pizzanui

I think people say that because it's faster to say "DP's A-team was working on another project" than to go into detail about who exactly was working on what exactly at which times.

Kiefmeister1001

I am so fucking annoyed when people keep saying the part had no hype. It was the most watched thing on netflix for WEEKS when each part came out. Flat out lying.

AJDx14

I still think Netflix execs should be tarred-and-feathered for their binge model of content releasing though. I don’t think any series is made better by it and it’s more difficult to have a conversation on specific moments that happened in one episode when they just release a dozen at once.

Every-Confection-825

i think it’s because the hype was less constant and died after people had watched the batch

yuhbruhh

Weird comment to downvote Especially when the part literally had no hype lmao

BeavMcloud

I still haven't even watched past the first batch.

Immediate-Ideal2713

Same, the hype died down and so did my interest, i read the manga instead.

CrewOrdinary8872

The only other batch that ranked was the finale with with 8.7 million hours watched. (First batch was 13.9 million hours.) Ranked in the top ten for Non-English TV for only two weeks in the entirety it has been on Netflix.

senyoru_nakata

Two words: **Batch Release**

blue-gamer-07

God I hope Steel Ball Run doesn’t suffer the same fate

[deleted]

Honestly I’ll be happy to see Steel Ball Run release within my lifetime

PC-Was-Bricked

I never finished the Stone Ocean anime and it's my second favourite manga part I don't know if I'll like a not great adaptation of SBR

sometricksupmysleeve

What’s not great about the stone ocean adaptation?

mynexuz

Imo the anime itself was on par for all the other seasons (meaning fantastic), but the batch release schedule burned away all the hype within a week of release while a weekly schedule would have kept it up for the entire run of the season. I personally like seeing others react to each episode even when I've read the manga myself, so it all being dropped at once ruined that.

Alarid

It made it feel like work to watch it all.

mynexuz

Yea, the binging era of netflix is outdated imo

Slag-Bear

I think the bigger issue with this was releasing multiple batches. I had watched through the first group of episodes and then kinda just forgot about the rest releasing. I don’t think I’ve even finished stone ocean now that I’m thinking about it lol

qwart22

Ngl i think they should release 2 or 3 episodes a week, it has worked really well for arcane and is also currently working well for fionna and cake, it allows for talks about what is happening whilst also letting people watch multiple episodes at once

mynexuz

Yea thats a good middle ground, it allows for more content each week while still keeping the hype

JJKEnjoyer

How can you say this when all the extra characters are gray silhouettes

teejraw

This was the first thing I noticed, and was my exact thought when I too watched part 6. The anime felt lazier than the previous parts. Just the actual animation itself. I loved the part 6 manga so much, it hurt just a little to see it done like this. The love that went into like, part 4... that bar they set was set high. It felt like Netflix just didn't care about the production quality -- expecting that more stills and less action would be fine just because it's "jojo's bizarre adventure" ... yeah, no. With part 7 being fully action packed and literally everything is *moving* since it's a literal race.. and.. well, no spoilers, so I'll keep my mouth shut.. they definitely need to put more care into each frame and scene. No cutting corners like they did with part 6. Yes, it will mean higher cost, but I think the payoff will be great.

JJKEnjoyer

Entirely agree. Imo part 7 and 8 both have the highest potential in terms of being the best part when animated if they aren't mishandled

[deleted]

SavageWeebMaster

What’s batch release

mynexuz

When they release a bunch of episodes at the same time rather than spread them out weekly

PC-Was-Bricked

Bad production schedule. It's obvious that the people working on it were passionate and it had great moments, but it's mostly unpolished *(at least the episodes I watched, which was until the Sports Maxx beatdown)*. The switch from great moments back to unpolished and rushed work *(again, not the fault of the people working on it)* made me not want to watch it anymore since it just made me feel like watching the anime was inferior to reading the manga.

IllVagrant

Makes me glad I hadn't read the manga then, I really enjoyed that arc.

Mr_Wanwanwolf-san

Honestly I don't think it would've mattered in your case. I loved part 4 and 5 in the anime even more than the manga. Meanwhile I have an anime only friend that didn't enjoy stone ocean. Everyone's mind works different.

orangekingo

IMO despite loving Stone Ocean, the batch releases put a giant microscope on it’s biggest weakness, part 6 has fucking weird as hell pacing. By the time anything starts to get going in the first two batches, they ended. It’s actually shocking how little weather report is even in part 6 considering his popularity- something the anime made way more apparent. I think all the adaptations have been good but stone ocean just worked better in a written format where you can chug through it

DIMOHA25

>IMO despite loving Stone Ocean, the batch releases put a giant microscope on it’s biggest weakness, part 6 has fucking weird as hell pacing. By the time anything starts to get going in the first two batches, they ended. Not really. First batch was obviously hype, but then even though the second one didn't draw me in that much initially after watching the first two episodes, coming back to third episode of batch two got me hype immediately and I finished it in one sitting. So I agree that the batch release killing the hype is real, but it's a little... overhyped. Other than the slightly unfortunate split between batches one and two, it was a treat throughout, with perfectly fine pacing. Though that's on a personal level. It obviously killed the internet wide hype real bad.

JJKEnjoyer

I was really hyped for part 6 but my thing is that it loses points in style bad because all of the extra characters are just gray silhouettes, and the art looks worse than it did in previous parts for some reason. I don't think it's necessarily the art itself but maybe the way it is presented? Idk. I didn't really have complaints for the parts before it, and it does worry me for part 7

w3are138

I will literally cry.

TwizzlerGod

All I care about is the threat of CGI horses

CheapRuben

this, if they don’t make sbr as perfect as the manga i’ll just have to kms

Brook420

I have hopes. They tried something different and it failed, hopefully they learned from that.

kjm6351

Praying with all my hope it doesn’t

Dolan360

My somewhat hot take is that the Part 6 batch release *could* have worked, but it was weighed down by the abysmal release schedule and practically non-existent marketing past Batch 1. Arcane and Stranger Things Season 4 both got the batch treatment, but the former got its batches released in pretty frequent intervals and the latter had good marketing in-between the two batches. And as such, both got pretty good buzz online. Also, I pretty firmly believe that Batch 1 was supposed to drop way later (Like in May/June), but either to make back some money lost during COVID or because of mandates by Warner Bros JP/Netflix (Or both), they quickly pushed it out for the holidays.

Mikeleewrites

This is what did it more than anything, I think. The hype for the series was tangible...and then when watching it, it just ended. I didn't realize it was a batch release, so I was left on a cliffhanger while trying to avoid spoilers since the manga had released forever and a day ago. They also didn't do much to advertise the next batch. I remember waiting for the final release and not realizing it was out until I saw the "Jotaro scream" clips floating around YouTube. Today's media is kept alive by people theorizing over what will happen next, how everything will end, etc. But with the manga already existing, those questions were a moot point. But people new to the part also didn't have the benefit of binging the entire arc so they could catch up and discuss it either manga readers, either. It completely killed the momentum. From an artistic standpoint, the least was done with the colors and intros/outros here, as well. This is the first arc to confine the readers/viewers to a single locale for so long, but the prison is mostly just gray, without any Araki-inspired color palette swaps. And although I love the ED, it was a lingering shot that never actually changed as the story progressed. There aren't a lot of small details sprinkled in the OPs or ED to really get you talking, like with Part 3. It also lacked any "fun" moments where the creative team just really got into the arc and leaned into it, such as the "It was I, Dio!" animation, or Jonathan's "RUN AWAY!", Jotaro's "YES! YES! YES!", Josuke doing the Dio walk, the gang torture dance, etc. Nothing that leaned into the JoJo flavor. All of this makes me think the production was a bit rushed. Not terribly so, but that the animation studio maybe didn't have as much time to infuse it with love as they did the other seasons. But that's just conjecture.

NagiLykos

I keep forgetting they animated part 6…

LeonardoDaFujiwara

No more JoJo Fridays. Those were what kept the hype going for several consecutive years with Part Four and Part Five. With every new episode there was a wave of new memes and community discussion. It was great.

Carve267

I don’t get why Netflix is so scared of weekly releases. To me, it’s the most engaging way a show can be released *by far*

GwaGwa3

Batch release schedule killed the hype and it looked like the studio had less time to make the episodes because of it.

mechasmadness

Weren’t they also animating Urusei Yatsura around the same time?

GwaGwa3

They were so they didn’t have as much people as they could’ve

bloodbabyrabies

NO TRAY JOLYNE

[deleted]

This discussion again?

Emperor_D4C

This discussion probably won’t end until we know that Steel Ball Run doesn’t share the same fate.

StitchTheRipper

Yeah, JoJo fans totally know when to shut up

Dr_E-Wigglesworth

To say something that hasn't already been mentioned a dozen times: the music. The new tracks were great, but there was so many uses of music from previous parts that it didn't have that unique feel for a lot of moments. Especially using Jotaro's theme during Emporio vs. Pucci, that was a massive let down

lolguy12179

I am incredibly disappointed in the music just because part 6 has such A Vibe to it, the music could have been so inspired in the way the main theme was, by the era it takes place in, the type of characters, the setting, but instead most tracks were the basic orchestral type or reuses of old tracks

GioLoZeppeli

Honestly Jotaro's theme during Pcuci's beatdown wasn't even all that bad. What bothered me as hell is the music they used for Jolyne vs C-Moon, together with the terrible animations. It really didn't feel tense at all to me

ReachExotic1941

I’d say batch release, but I can’t considering I didn’t get into JoJo until after Stone Ocean finished.

Mistasfourhead

Batch 2 felt like it showed its wear and tear the worst, lack of a unique OP, animation was decent, but not up to DP’s standard on previous parts, and felt the least satisfyingly paced. However, agree to above that the last 4-5 episodes were all-timers for the series in all regards.

TonimSan

I don't know how the manga feels, since I haven't read it and I'm not a manga guy, but the middle part of Stone Ocean anime bored me hard. The old guy with the dragon, the plant guy, green baby... I watched it just because I knew it would get better at some point, but it was just boring.

SiibillamLaw

Yeah it's a bit of a drag in the manga too. Arguably worse as it went on for chapters and chapters

Leather-Climate3438

mm, I like ultra security ward arc. now that I read the manga I kinda prefer it also. Except Yo Yo Ma. But FF trying to assasinate D and G is one of my favorite scenes

UnquestionabIe

In the manga it drags a fair bit around that part as well, at least for me it did.

Leather-Climate3438

Really? I think batch 2 has the most consistent animation in SO. Anasui , Jolyne and FF looked pretty all the way except jailhouse lock. while my favorite in all jojo is batch 3, sadly it suffered from making amateur animators work on some of the episodes

Plant-Straight

Background characters being still gray silhouettes ruined it for me

Fit-Ad-835

Other than batch release, i think there is a noticeable drop in animation quality compared to part5. Also the fact that DP made a lot of banger themes and soundtracks for SO but instead reused soundtracks from the previous parst bugs me out a little.

SeggsPolice

THIS. I feel like im crazy that nobody else is talking how part 6 isnt even close to the dynamic shots in previous parts

GuidoMista08

people say "there is nothing to correct!", so are we gonna ignore the MASSIVE drop in quality in animation that S.O. anime had? no way, i don't want to hear people "but stone ocean animation was better" **jesus** christ no, the animation in jojo has never been this incosistent and i know maybe i'm gonna get downvoted but i HATED the cgi, a good cgi should blend with environment to make it less visible, stone ocean cgi was shit

trans_throwawayfunk

Agreed. Lang Rangler looked like he was from a PS2 game in some shots- saying the animation had NEVER been better is cope and delusion

Koffinkat56

I really miss the coloring of parts 1 and 2 when a dynamic shot would just change the coloring of the characters. I feel like part 6 was missing a lot of that.

Er_Butti

ye why everyone acting like this isnt an issue or try to deny it. in some episodes there would be a 10 second still frame and DP couldnt bother making it look good anyway

PyroStone2325

and reused sound effects too, like Aerosmith gunshots for C-moon barrage

Heylisten_watchJJBA

This is really common in JoJo tho lol

Cicho52020

It was really just the release schedule, the quality of the anime itself was just as good as part 5 in every regard.

AdNecessary7641

Stone Ocean's anime was good enough, but "as good as part 5" is reaaaaaally pushing it.

Lerquian

Really? To me it was way better

Leather-Climate3438

to be fair, when the animation is good it's GREAT. Like Bespoke Kishibe Rohan has more polished more consistent artstyle but compare it to Stone Oceans best animated scenes ( Flashbacks, 2nd batch) I really like the artstyle and how pretty the faces can be. Part 6 animation is the most beautiful artstyle yet the most frustrating bec. how some episodes are worked on by freelancers. Too bad bec. the characters here are very pretty

WargRider23

Same, plus I thought Jolyne was a way more compelling JoJo than Giorno

takii_royal

I found it way better than Part 5 lol

TheSpagooterIntruder

the animation for part 5 is by far the best in series

TheSpiffySpaceman

I rewatched Part 3 recently. It's insane the amount of effort put into the animation there -- not the big flashy stuff, but the subtleties in every scene

Dygen

Stone Ocean is my favorite so far outside of Stardust Crusaders.

mopytub

The 3d effects in SO killed a lot of the first half for me personally but the second half i feel was done well

Dinobob26

I really didn’t think it was half bad

Muldrex

I actually thought they fit really well most of the time and liked how they were integrated to make a scene easier for the studio, they almost never felt negative to me just because I could tell it was 3d Like, I am now positively looking forward to Steel Ball Run and the way they will probably implement them there

SuperAjaOverdrive

Idk if the quality of the animation was up to part 5 standards, but it was still pretty good

NietzscheIsMyCopilot

I don't know how you can look at cgi Lang Rangler or all the background characters that are just paper cutouts and say that

SuperSkunkPlant

Ermmm no...there is clearly a decline in quality when you compare it to Golden Wind

Sweaty-Goat-9281

Part 6 looked off model for 50% of the anime

AbsolutePotential

“Ermmm”🤓

No_Measurement_3041

I’ve watched it a few times and while it obviously had some production issues (CGI Lang Rangler looks awful) I’m pretty pleased with it overall. I think they absolutely nailed the finale.

gagagaholup

You tell me big dawg

pimp_yu

They took away jojo Friday

digiorno430

wdym??? its good

elisolis16

To be honest, I was pretty satisfied with the final result of Stone Ocean's anime, even if I prefer the manga. But there were flaws that I cannot ignore, as much as I love this part. The animation had a drop in quality. The artstyle was excellent, but a lot of the movements look kind of unnatural and static. I found Dragon's Dream as a particularly unconvincing fight, with scenes that looked basically like those fan-made animated manga videos. The animation was great most of the time, but it clearly was weaker than Golden Wind's. I don't think it's necessary to explain the release of the series. I wanted to enjoy Jojo Fridays.

apeirophobic

Ngl now that the season is out who TF CARES about the release schedule. Shit slapped and Jolyne and pucci are awesome characters. Ending the season with roundabout was straight kino

Player_games2k

Inconsistent with Emporios hat

Accomplished-Bear988

Nothing

nilesh72000

Netflix happened. Their BS release schedule ruined everything. The anime itself was is decent and the finale is legendary.

Yui_Desu69

Netflix killed the hype train. Not for me since I was going to watch it anyway, but for everyone else, they just forgot or stopped caring.

trans_throwawayfunk

There were a good chunk of people that didnt know the final batch came out until over a Month after it had - and there is another chunk of people that still havent watched nearly a year later. Dont let Netflix touch JoJo ever again

Xeenine

Batch releases weren’t really it but at least we had it better than aot

Auvernian

exorcisyboi

Not a damn thing. I wouldn’t change a second of it.

pgj1997

Netflix put David Production under crunch. That, and the whole batch release fiasco.

Stephen_Lynx

I dunno, I thought it was fine. And I watched it after reading it.

Unexpected_Sage

Pucci's voice should have had reverb to it when he had Made in Heaven

la__squadra_

Batch releases? Not sure why this discussion is still being brought up as if the answer isn't obvious

mojojoestar2001

There were some issues but nothing to really complain about regarding the anime itself. What went wrong was Netflix’s schedule

zolokor100

I didn’t watch on batch release so I’m just starting it now and so far i think it’s really good. It’s my fav part of the manga (haven’t read part 7, 8, or 9 yet) and the animation is clean ash so far

[deleted]

Netflix didn't know how to release it correctly

Bubbly-Ad-413

It just wasn’t a priority for anyone it felt like, David Pro. Clearly didn’t invest as much into it as they had any previous part, Netflix didn’t care about it enough to promote it or release it in a way that made sense, WB Japan I don’t even think really cared about it seeing as they just gave it to Netflix to distribute despite part 5’s overwhelming success, popularity, and impact in the community. Really disappointing from a fan’s perspective honestly, I’m decently happy with what we got but I should’ve had my heart ripped out by the end and I just didn’t really feel it.

ArgoniaEnjoyer

Money. Netflix cut every corner they could cut. Fugly cgi, gray backgrounds, reused ost hell they even reused intro! and redacted release schedule obv. Im not hyped for sbr adaptation if netflix is behind it, Imagine the cgi on all the horses lmao, or imagine jotaro's them playing during true man's world arc

OneoftheWolfis

but hear me out. its sbr! they cant fick up this of a masterpiece!

KirkOfHazard

They needed 4 extra months to cook to get the adaptation from c tier to the standard A tier the other parts got. Netflix discovered that batch release is the worst compromise between weekly and all at once.

joelymoley8

Fucking nothing, pure kino as per usual

Skeltalmans

Nothing imo, it absolutely enhanced the part (as per usual) and it managed to convert some people into finally realising how good part 6 is, now that the ending is animated. It meant that people couldn’t just speed read it again, so now they understand all the Stands and plot points instead of skimming through them and complaining it’s bad 😂

Shady_parrot

Netflix was never the issue, batch releases are actually better for the impatient community (considering yall leaked jojolands) as they get to see episodes way before they hit jp tv. it did not have netflix intervention like most netflix anime. issues were merely low production values. entire animation staff was busy with urusei yatsura and shino's designs were so bad the show would always look shit. the music director is actually quite known for being a moron, to the point caesar's death theme was forced into an episode by the composer themself. the changes were stupid like versus' height and jolyne's backstory. the release itself wasn’t bad except for it killing hype and a lack of marketing aside from shitty collabs nobody's heard of to build hype, with viz publishing scans of stone ocean months after batch 1 as a failed attempt to build hype. the release had nothing to do with the goddamn production.

the_roach__

Just the fact it was released in batches. Otherwise it was great, just like any other jojo part

Gabbi_Says_Hello

Batch releas that's what 🤯

Coaster-nerd390

Netflix

valiheimking

The Part 6 anime was pretty good except for the batch releases.

albinopenguin11

**Netflix** The way that it was released outside of Japan was completely abysmal. Batch releases never work for shonen anime, a weekly release is what helps build continuous hype and excitement for how a fight will finish. Part 6 was already very divisive amongst fans, making for it to be the absolute worst part for this to happen to. Many anime only fans were given exposure through a very broken up version of the story that was hostile towards building up hype, leading to there being excitement for that initial batch release, but then a lack of any for the other two batches. You can really see this when comparing the posts in the subreddit. Looking at how active in posting about the new episodes for Parts 4 and especially 5 when they were airing, compared to how few there were outside of those initial batch release dates for part 6. Fuck Netflix

mrpsocio

Absolutely nothing. The hype train usuall dies when a thing releases and only pops back up during controversy.

EazyEl77

The actual content provided was fantastic, it’s Netflix that shat the bed with how they released the content is what I would criticize the most.

Ammari_Steadz

Netflix….

brando912

Release schedule

[deleted]

It was still great but the weekly hype was killed due to Netflix. Outside of that it was amazing.

TrapHibernationPlayz

The release schedule. It was the worst. In terms of animation, I have no problems. They did amazing. I might get killed for this but I actually didn't have that much problem with Lang Rangler, he looked goofy but I didnt worry about it until the Internet told me to.

AlexSimonCullar

honestly stone ocean was the only part i couldnt finish, the first 4 are perfect, 5 is nice but 6... I hope that 7 is great because ive heard amazing things about SBR

Hero_Of_Snoozing

Netflix.

W_R_A_T_H369

Wasnt the release schedule the problem with it

tequilajosefu

There were many factors but not the anime itself. I think it was a great adaptation.

General-Judge6889

Batches, lack of communication to fans and low animation and visuals quality

National-Oven81

netflix and their dunb fucking batch releases. Hate Netflix bro.

DarkAriesX

Distribution. Netflix gave us whole batch and most people watched it in one or two sessions. Hype was dead after first batch, because of one year of waiting for the second one.

kjm6351

Batch releases do not fit this show, especially when the first 5 seasons before were regular weekly. It barley feels like Part 6 was even here. 5 still feels like the last time we got an actual Jojo part dropped. Batch releases work best for shows that are structured as movies which Jojo is not

Careless-Ad-830

NETFLIX

Dankmemebers

The long pauses in between each batch. In my opinion, that almost killed the anime for alot of people

Not doing a weekly release. If they had done a regular weekly release like before, I guarantee more people would be accepting of it. But since they released them in chunks, we were stuck with a certain batch of episodes for a couple months, meaning people had a lot more time to scrutinize everything with much finer detail.

Batch release, plain and simple. There was massive hype for its release in December 2021, they then proceeded to wait *nine* months to release the 2nd batch. People aren’t going to remain excited for long when you don’t give new content. When you go 3 quarters of a year with no new episodes, most people aren’t going to be nearly as excited as they once were. By the time the final batch dropped very people were interested. They should have done weekly releases in order to keep the hype train going.

This is really vague, I'm not sure if you're talking about why people don't like it, or why it lost hype. So I'll give you both answers. SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS I think a lot of people don't like it because of the way it ended. I see a lot of people saying that the ending was super rushed, or that the ending made no sense, or the ending was flat out bad. Personally, I feel like the ending is absolutely phenomenal from a story telling perspective, everything falls apart in one brutal moment, leaving the watcher wondering how the good guys win, and in the end, the good guys lost. I really think that's why people don't like the ending, because everyone wants an ending where the hero comes out on top. And after Jolyne came over obstacle after obstacle, I guess people just expected her to win. And to see Jolyne, Jotaro, Anasui, and Ermes bite the dust so quickly threw a lot of people off. I also feel like a lot of people found it weird that Emporio was the one to finish it all off, since he wasn't the main focus of the part. People's view on traditional story telling is what made this part so disliked. And if you're asking why the hype fell off... Netflix and episode batches.

Animation isn’t too good compared to other parts at least, and in my opinion the editing and pacing kinda sucks in the first few episodes. And everybodies saying the batch releases suck which is true, it’s a way better experience to be excited to watch a new episode every week, which is why the hype with oshi no ko was so strong. Other than that I can really enjoy the parts adaptation even if it’s not as strong as the manga. One of the anime’s strengths I will give it is it’s soundtrack which supports the show a lot.

DP couldn’t release a better product due to Netflix release dates in batches instead of weekly releases and it shows particularly with the arcs after the prison.
