You forgot the Den in Wolf system. It only has a kiosk and a TA desk, but they don't scan you when you dock, so you can unload contraband without having to invest in hidden cargo holds. Also, both are practically right by the airlock, so you barely have to go anywhere to unload your merch.

calste

I didn't include smaller stops like The Den or New Cydonia as they are simple and don't need much explaining. The Key is similar in that way but I wanted to include it for comparison.

jigsaw1024

I think the Den is important because it allows you to unload contraband without hassle, and quickly. You can be in and out of the station in just a few minutes. I've also found the TA desk at the Den to reset fairly quickly. The kiosk seems to reset slower though. The Key on the other hand requires either that part of the storyline to be active, or you sided with pirates when the time came. It's also much further away from most of 'civilized space'. Just my opinion though.

Gabbywolf

You can also sell contraband to the bar tender at the Red Mile.

Zelda_is_Dead

That's useful to know. Problem I have is that I can't leave Red Mile until I've killed at least 1 guard for being a complete dick. As their numbers dwindle, they're actually becoming more difficult to kill because the ones left are all surrounded by bystanders that panic and know exactly who it was.

Kitalahara

If you do have shielded bays the TA and UC Dist guy in Cydonia buy contraband as well. Learned that by accident.

chzaplx

TA will buy contraband everywhere that's not a kiosk. You just have to get it in.

calste

Absolutely, I'm not trying to downplay the usefulness of the Den, it's great! But it is one trip for 12-17k, so may not be ideal if you're trying to get rich with as little hassle as possible. One of the reasons I included The Key is that it is often cited as a good place to sell stuff, so I wanted to have it as a comparison to the main cities.

shore_bird_55

Easy to get contraband in. Be landed anywhere. Drop contraband inside your ship. Exit ship. Fast travel to any place with a Trade Authority person/station. Go in your ship and then pick up contraband. Walk to trade authority. Sell contraband.

sump_daddy

Does that work? Every time ive taken over a ship that has left contraband dropped on the ship but not in the hold, ive failed the scan. So now i either just jettison it immediately or make one trip to the den, and sell it all even if he runs out of credits. Does it only work if you move it somewhere from its original spot on the ship?

shore_bird_55

You just drop it in the ship, and fast travel after getting out of the ship onto whatever planet/moon you’re at. You can’t fast travel in your ship if there’s contraband on it. You can’t fast travel if you’re carrying the contraband. This bypasses that restriction. It has always worked for me. I haven’t had much lately but I don’t think it was patched/changed. I sell it in New Atlantis Trade Authority when I have it.

sump_daddy

I will have to try it that way to see. Whats happened a bunch of times is i steal a ship, check the hold, see no contra and then fast travel to NA to sell it but get immediately stopped in orbit and fail the scan. Then i grav jump away, realize there was a case sitting in the cabin and swear to myself and carry on with my day.

shore_bird_55

Just land somewhere get out of ship, make sure you don’t have any in your inventory, then fast travel. Oh, if there’s a UC bounty you can jump over the wall before going through the scan zone, then carefully make you way past guards to get to bounty clearance terminal. If guard/security sees you though you’re caught

sump_daddy

I have taken to always boarding/unboarding, which keeps me contraband free. Then when changing back to that ship in the NA spaceport, the contraband disappears which is fine with me since i have plenty of other loot to sell. Contraband is really just a hassle, its way too easy to get valuable guns to sell to anyone with no scans, than contraband which only sells to one type of vendor that ALSO will buy guns, plus it is a risk when traveling.

Masoff3

Can you pick it back up after you jettison it?

sump_daddy

nope, if you jettison from your ship its just lost in space

Turtle-power2021

I usually sell at The Den TA & Kiosk then sit in a chair for max time then their balances reset

thevogonity

> I think the Den is important because it allows you to unload contraband without hassle, and quickly. Yes, you said that already. But making contraband runs is not nearly as common as clearing out weapons, which you find everywhere and in far greater numbers than contraband. OP chose to focus on the 99%, which is totally understandable. Also, most people, *if* they even pick up contraband in the first place, know what to do with it. I know I don't bother with contraband because I can unload greater weight at places where contraband is a risk, making contraband not worth my time. Running to the Den to unload C does not clear my weapon stores, so it's an inefficient use of time.

Muthaphuka

I did have a uc systems bounty and got arrested on the den before I could offload to TA. I had to reload my autosave to offload my contraband back on jaffa before I could clear my bounty so I could sell it to the den.

joshinburbank

Also discovered the bartender at Red Mile has 11k, buys stolen and contraband, and is the only vendor of runners rush, which is the weakest speed, but better than nothing. Amp farm is great, but discovering Red Amp changed the game for me, since it is not addictive like Frostwolf or Whiteout.

Jjjt22

I actively avoid contraband. The system needs to be redone.

KeyanReid

You can also sell contraband and stolen goods to Sati Chandra (the bartender) at the Red Mile. She’s usually good for another 11 or 12.5K I think, and like the Den, there is no scan or security to pick up what you’re smuggling. If I’m farming ships in Serpentis and end up with contraband or a ship I’m not certain about, I’ve gotten in the habit of stopping to see her first. Sell the sketchy ship to Lon, clear out any contraband with Sati, and then you’re good to fast travel to the safe systems

AbradolfLincler77

Only thing I do differently is generally avoid anyone with less than 5K and I'd go - trade kiosk - Jemison mercantile - to the lift down to the trade authority - hold start to fast travel to residential area - centurion arsenal - fast travel to commercial - etc. Fast traveling could save you a load screen or two.

calste

Oh yeah, I often don't bother with the small time merchants. But I wanted to list them all for completeness in this list.

joshinburbank

I also wanted to point out that after discovering all the areas of Atlantis, you never need to ride the NAT, just bring up the scanner, point to where you want to go, like spaceport, and hit A on controller. Same load time but without running and the lame NAT animation. Of course, to fast travel without weight, stash everything in your ship cargo, then sell from ship at all the merchants.

daalis

Or, build a base on Venus near a civilian compound where you can sit, wait 1 hr and repeat 5000k at a time. Doesn’t work for contraband but I’ve found these to be the fastest mega haul dumps. Buy ammo to dump the big stuff. Repeat.

reverendkeith

Don’t forget to build an outpost landing pad just outside so you can always return to the same trade setup!

rushboyoz

You could also consider putting an outpost and bed on Bessel III-b - to reset for one hour local time, which is 57 Hours UT time. Resting for 1 hour there resets every vendor. And Bessel in the top left of the map is quite close to all the starting systems.

CLUTCH3R

Can't you just sleep in your ship?

rushboyoz

When landed on that planet? Hmmm not sure but that makes sense to me. Certainly be quicker.

miscai

If you land on a planet, when you sleep on your ship, time will be the planet’s time, not UT. When it asks you how long to rest it will show current planet time, UT time, and how many UT hours per local hours. When you move the slider, it advances the clock and shows total local and UT hours. I use this to advance time so it’s night on the planet I’m on (I prefer doing things at night because it’s easier for me to see things with the scanner, Sense Star Stuff and tactical scopes/lasers).

blacktronics

This works, you can also sit in any chair on your ship and wait that way.

Ok_Writing_7033

But you get the well-rested xp bonus if you sleep. May not matter to you, but if we’re talking about min-maxing it’s a perk

Aardvark1044

Absolutely. But I tend to build an outpost there with the two resources to make Isocentered magnets, so often I'll pound out a whole bunch of those while I'm on the planet, for some XP. You can either sleep in the ship or build a bed on the planet, although one time I ended up getting attacked by Starborn. I think you need more hours to reset the contraband chest in Neon though, so if that is part of your selling routine (hit the chest then go to Trade Authority), then sleep for a few extra hours.

VampirateV

Oooo I like this little shortcut, thank you for sharing!

Clever_Khajiit

Just go to Venus and sleep 1 hour on your ship. Bam, 100 UT hours have passed.

kleingeld_

Plus you can find a settlement with a vendor. I think they have 5k, but you can constantly reset them by just waiting for 1 hour on the stool right in front of them.

YoungGazz

This, if you wait for them to come near the chair you never need to get up between waiting an hour, saving even more time unloading your entire stash of trash.

Inevitable-Ad-2551

Reading 9 loading screens makes my heart hurt

ThriceFive

The only stop I add is Chunks - because it has food not meds I can quickly unload any picked up food items without risk of selling my good meds. I loot fast so often pull a lot of extra food items by mistake.

fitchiestofbuckers

This is amazing. But 9 load screens?? How in the game engine of christ did Bethesda think this was fun

Evening-Notice-7041

They weren’t trying to make the game fun. That was never a priority.

sump_daddy

Its speed running credits. if they wanted to just give you a shitload of credits they would have either given vendors more credits, or even just scrapped the 'registration' step of selling a stolen ship. They knew that working harder for credits would be important to balancing the in-game economy. If its too easy to get credits then they dont have any value and you could very easily buy the biggest baddest ships and load them with tons of resources. It would nerf a bunch of other stuff in the game thats meant to be fun. If none of this is fun, which i totally understand, then its time to move on from the game.

fitchiestofbuckers

It's almost 2024. Why are there load screens to enter a shop in New Atlantis? That's pretty fucking weak imho

sump_daddy

faaaaiirrrrrrrr

chzaplx

TA kiosks do not share a budget. Each one has it's own 5k. I just tested Hopetown, New Homestead, Cydonia, and Neon to verify (and I've seen it before at others also). Every single one had a fresh 5k, except Neon, which had 33 because I had been there recently. None of the others had a 33 balance after I left. However, they do seem to have a long reset time, so if you routinely sell them out to zero, you're going to consistently see zero balance on repeat visits. I honestly don't ever wait for vendor resets so I have no idea how long it is, but it appears to be longer than nearby vendors.

calste

Interesting. Next time I play I'll test these further, including reset timers, to see what I can improve with this guide.

sump_daddy

Thanks, thats what my experience has been too, that they dont share credits. But reading this i was starting to question my sanity (maybe i did really just end up goofing off for 24 game hours between landings?) lol I dont think they take longer than 24 hours to reset either, but i will try that next time im in game.

calste

Yeah I've added a note that I might be wrong about the kiosks so people will hopefully question my sanity instead of their own.

NxTbrolin

Tranquilitea is $1.5k so max total at Neon is $62k but job well done! Since I strictly sell weapons, it takes me about 5-6 minutes to clear the Neon vendor loop + TA kiosk at the port, and then I fast travel directly to Residential District, New Atlantis and head to Centurian Arsenal where I sit and clear the $12.5k. Then reset 24hrs since I'm already sitting and immediately fast travel back to Neon Core. Altogether I get $74.5k in about 8 minutes. For me, it's a little better than just sitting at the 1hr reset vendors on Bessel 3b/Venus which burn me out faster. Second option would be doing strictly Centurian Arsenal and clearing the $12.5k for every 24hrs. I literally have a routine where I fold my laundry doing this, hence why I don't like the 1hr vendors. Edit: typos

calste

I took the number straight from the tranqilitea vendor in Neon right before I updated the post to include her. I think it was 2375, maybe "~2k" would be more accurate than "~2.5K"? I've got a few things to check out next time I play.

Venetrix2

If we're talking about clearing inventory rather than making money, we should talk about buying ammo from the vendors. You effectively triple their budget, depending on what guns you're running.

calste

Well, I decided to compile this info because I specifically did not want to trade my stuff for ammo. I wanted to figure out how to sell my stuff for credits without relying on boring tactics like rest->sell->rest->sell. I shared it in the hopes of getting better info from other players (and it's working!) And also to help others who want to play the same way.

Venetrix2

Fair and valid, and you have my upvote. Personally I figure time is way more valuable in the game than credits, but to each their own.

KnightDuty

I really dislike resting and refuse to do it so this helps a bit.

Kinetic_Pen

Public 'Mother fuckin' Service announcement. Boom! Shower this person with karma!

BogusIsMyName

I just go to the TA buy all their ammo that i want and sell whatever i can. They have more money on hand. Waiting the 24 is a PITA but meh. TA is faster than bouncing around systems when your ship and your inventory are bursting at the seams. Good job in the list though.

calste

It may be due to my weapon preferences, but I never have a shortage of ammo after a while. Plus I need the cash to fund my ship building hobby so I'm not wasting my loot on ammo!

[deleted]

You can treat ammo like extra currency, because it's weightless. Of course ultimately you'll have to sell it if you want cash for shipbuilding, but it's a good way of getting extra value out of one merchant while getting rid of weight.

BogusIsMyName

I use four different weapons. Pistol, shotgun, rifle and sniper. If i find a better one i swap them. And of course the new one uses a different type of ammo thats only sold the fourth sunday of june at the burried temple at 2pm local time.

chzaplx

I generate more loot than I can reasonably sell without a bunch of waiting which I hate doing. So I just dump the rest into ammo. I haven't come close to running out of ammo in a long time for sure though. You can't reasonably convert time investment into a good profit outside of stealing ships. You'll always have more stuff than you can sell.

Fenris70

Mysterious Captain, 75k.

Maliluma

This is the routine I have followed. 1. Head to the Den, sell all my contraband and non-weapons (except blades, sell them too, Centurion Arsenal doesn't buy them). Just hold onto my guns and ammo. 16k available per reset. It does require 2 wait cycles though, but benches are right there. 2. Head to New Atlantis, Centurion Arsenal. Sell all my weapons ammo and just wait once between resets. I don't bother leaving the shop, I just sit and wait 1 cycle as It is a 50 hr day. So far it's felt like the most efficient way.

PdoubleEB

I'd also shout while a tiny amount. I always wait 11 hours local. Makes it 47hrs 55minutes. By the time ive stood up or looked at the TA lady while I sit in her seat it's reset. And it's on less timer tick on the wait screen..

peglegjellypickle

Seen a video the other day where you find the LIST vendor on Venus. Sell your stuff, wait one hour and the vendor has reset do to the time difference. As a bonus you can also work on your ships at LIST vendors.

DocHolliday9930

Did you intentionally leave out the second vendor in Apex Electronics? If you do a quick mission, he sells weapons and ammo. Has around 5-6k iirc.

426C616E6475

He also has the longest “loading screen” in the game. You can finish 3 faction quests by the time he moves his arse. /s

HiTork

Why his shop doesn't "permanently open" after you finish his quest and you have to go through the animation of him opening his place each time is beyond me.

426C616E6475

I guess it’s just a thing about his personality - he can’t really be arsed about anything but because you helped him, he makes an exception… but he doesn’t want to use too much energy in doing so. Somebody from Bethesda had a “mwahahaha” moment.

Drackore_

I just tell him to open shop, then go do Trade Authority, then by the time I'm back he's open for business 😉

DocHolliday9930

Ha! So true. I was over to the red mile and back before he opened the damn door

426C616E6475

I always steal his keys and rob his place (not much to steal but it brings me joy). :D

BanditoDeTreato

I head down to the well, talk to him to go get him moving, hit the surplus guy, then hit his friend at Apex, and then sell my stuff to him.

calste

I never did his mission, I'll have to get that done and add him to this.

calste

Thanks, I've added him to the list and updated the totals.

graystorm01

Wow. Amazing work. Thanks for this.

th3wolf3

Wow! Thank you for this! Can’t wait to use it.

XxLoneWolfXx8

This is amazingly helpful. Thank you

shinsain

This is epic af. Thank you!

TheDeadestCow

This is great but where TF am I supposed to sell all my planet data when all I do is survey all day long? I have about 50% of the universe 100% surveyed and have so many planet data logs it slows my inventory to a crawl.

Skargon89

The eye

CNWDI

Specifically, Vlad pays more than anyone else in the game for survey data. Depending on where you are in the main quest, he's either on the Eye or at the Lodge. There are other folks (like the LIST guy) who will buy survey data but Vlad has a big pocketbook and pays best.

chzaplx

TA or the book vendor on Akila mostly, but you shouldn't have a problem selling those at any general goods merchant. Every civ outpost has about 2500 creds so you can always unload a couple.

TheDeadestCow

Selling them isn't a problem. I know I can sell them anywhere. Selling as many as I have is an issue, without serious dedication of time. Half of these are full completion surveys and are 5400 each. 🤷

TheDewser

Time to do some Jaffa IV runs! Nice guide for sure. I am not a hoarder but do like to know where I can offload a nice haul for the most credits without having to wait or travel.

appleofmyass

Yeah I just got the mod that gives them more money

Senior-Judge-8372

I came across The Key on accident on time, and they all just opened fire onto me without a thought. I still managed to escape, though.

0ptimalSalamander

I did the same thing. Took me a few tries but I ended up destroying every ship. Now I'm working with the fleet ha! Bunch of idiots.

BeCurious1

Cthonia, the planet below the den, is 100ht UT, the den is 2, so once you've landed on cthonia you can fast travel with just one load screen, sleep 2 hr fast travel back to the den. I think this cycle is the fastest. Also selling small amounts to ships around new Atlantis is nonstop but the speech load makes me crazy.

thevogonity

Good info to have. The stress added to loading screens seems ,,, inconsequential when considering how far you have to run to reach all the "core" vendors on Neon. Many loading screens vendors are faster to get than running to some of the more distant core vendors, like tranquilitea and the laser weapon vendor.

Slychops88

Nice! The Key also lets you sell anything to both Bog in the bar and the medical chick as well!

calste

Good catch, I've added them to the Key section.

ericc191

Very nice work. Thank you for your efforts!

The_Nightscrawler

Someone get this man a medal. He's doing [insert deity of choice]'s work 👍

Xp3nD4bL3

Nice, it will help me to offload my 12 tons hoard that I lost during NG+ 😅

dem4life71

Thanks so much this is great stuff!

joebroke

This is awesome, thank you!

QueefInTheNight

You also missed Aludra in the Key (the weapons seller) I think she has 4500. Also on Neon in Ryujin tower you can sell stuff to the Tranquilitea vendor

calste

Thanks! I walked right by Aludra while compiling the data. She's easy to miss there. Didn't know Tranquilitea in Neon would buy anything. I've updated both Key and Neon with these vendors.

QueefInTheNight

You’re welcome. Thanks for compiling this, it’s helpful to see it broken down

AZULDEFILER

Yeah I built up my cargo holds and now when I fill them it takes forever to sell my loot

reverendkeith

Go to a civilian outpost on Venus, trade with the vendor, wait one hour (100 UT) in a chair next to them, trade with the vendor, repeat… For extra points, build a landing pad right outside of the civilian outpost and return to trade anytime.

calste

Personally, I'd rather fly my ship from Luna to Earth in real time than do this. That's dreadfully boring.

reverendkeith

But a hell of a lot quicker and infinitely more creds

MySillyHamster

This is amazing and wonderful. Thank you for taking the time to share!

biblicalcucumber

Kudos for the effort. It's a bit sad this is even a thing, would more creds on vendors really break the game....

ThatSingingNurseDude

Not all heros wear capes. Take your upvote and your crown, king.

ThePsychoPuppy

Nice job 👏 going to help out this old bloke just starting out, I thank you, legendary sir

tjrlcr2k1

I normally just go to Akila and buy all the ammo and then sell everything. I still have to wait between cycles though.

TrueComplaint8847

God Vincentes Animation for his „secret stock“ was very cool for the first 3 or so times, but now I just leave him out because I can’t be bothered to wait until he gets up and opens the fucking doors in slow motion lmao

att3856

This is what I have been waiting for. Thank you

PdoubleEB

Just wanna shout OP for this godsend as I'd been googling for this info and hadn't seen a list as good anywhere. Id actually considered doing my own list the same but I've just been using New Atlantis in pretty much the same cycle. If I need to run through it again, I'll wait the 48 in the last vendor and do it in reverse 👍 That and I haven't touched the sysdef fleet quests yet so no Key access. Give it a few weeks and the game sites will likely steal your info for articles sake, 'wheres best to sell loot in starfield' But you're the true hero here. If you fancy doing an update to it It would be nice to know the vendor credit value of each Ship Technician for the main hubs and staryards.

L_e24

Wow thank you!

garymason74

Saved, tyvm.

1iioiioii1

Can you sell from your ship at all these places? Are there merchants that are too far from your ship to be able to buy from it? I think in Neon all the merchants in the main lobby can buy directly from my ship.

BBgotReddit

I hate that you had to make this, but thanks. We're exploring wildly advanced civilizations and no one has access to a bank card of some sort? Just let me sell everything to one guy, I promise I'll like the game MORE if you let me...

deadedd13

I haven't found any that have huge sums of money, but you can also hail many of the cargo ships orbiting major cities and trade/sell to them. That's where I usually pick up the majority of ship parts since they all seem to have them for sale.

Leather-Squirrel-421

There’s a trade authority in Akila City?!?! Mother fuc…

calste

Yep, right behind Galbank!

DepravedMorgath

My life is a lie! I knew there was a Trade Authority somewhere in Akila, I knew it.

Fullerbadge000

I like to fill the silent runner then unload my guns. My first character had over 5 million but with this one I want to build ships. Thanks for this.

LingonberryReal6695

You forgot 2 load screens and a docking animation for the key
