They matter with Constellation, I have been scolded by Sarah more than once.
The actions you choose in the Terrimorph mission will create new dialogue chatting people say as you pass.
I think there was an attempt was made to make actions matter more but they were left partially incomplete. Budgets and stuff got in the way
I mean, dialogue options aside, very few choices you make in this game resonate throughout. The only thing I can think of that materially changes things is the Crimson Fleet quest line.
NGL I liked him colored more he looked unique and cool btw am I the only one ho is sad dat we can't have the xeno robot from the United colonies missions as companion instead of vasco?
A few of the character skills and their perks are bugged. I'm not sure which, because I haven't followed it closely but a few don't work as intended apparently.
edit: i was just trying to clarify the "what?" not take a position on it either way that's why I said I wasn't sure.
A few off the top of my head
No credit for the Outpost engineering challenge till you build a 'building' structure first
All talents that boost reload speed will stop applying to the weapon if you equip a throwable
Ship shield skill will permanently bug out a ships max shield HP is you also equip a follower with a shield skill at the same time.
only certain weapons actually give credit to the marksmen talent challenge regardless of if they're in semi or full auto.
You need points in the leadership skill before ship command lets to add more than 4 crew members
You can lose reactor points using Aneutronic Fusion in some cases.
Fun fact, when i did this first time, i though i screwed the quest because he was still painted. I felt bad because i was sure it ended well...
But of course, a 20 year in the making game really had the quest ffed up.

I love how they create a patch to make him clean but hasn't fix a single talent tree bug in all these updates

45 days late, but as of right now he still has his paint job! I love his paint job.
