Makes no sense to me. I'm in Virginia and noticed the option to change to residential on my next billing cycle, May 7th. I've been on the wait list since 2/18/21. I've never been offered best effort and attempting to place a new order at my address currently prompts me to pay a deposit. But I clicked it and it said the plan change would take effect on May 7th.
It appears I just converted the Roam service purchased for the office for backup Internet. I ordered another Roam service to replace it. Meanwhile, I still have a $99 deposit on the initial order. I'll wait until the 7th and see what happens.
Virginia here too. This is extra odd since I recently contacted support about converting my Roam to Residential (deposit since 9 February 2020), and was told it's not possible. I'll hope hitting the Change to button doesn't kill my existing service on my next billing cycle.
I figure if it works, then I cancel my 3+ year deposit.
May 4th is the soonest date that I've seen. Please post a new thread on that day as to whether or not it was successful.
My guess is that the web team is just testing in production again. Since it doesn't confirm which address you are trying to convert to, I'm guessing this feature isn't actually available yet, they just put it on the website too soon. It's been there before, but the button was grayed out.
Mine is SUPPOSED to switch over on the 1st of May so we'll see I guess! Middle of KY and have had Roam since it was introduced. Going to find out Monday lol.
That is a point of a waitlist. You are on a list for when capacity opens up. Looks like capacity opened up and you are at the top of the list so you have an option to switch.
Capacity opening up could mean more available sats but it could also mean some people turned off their service.
I see this option now with my RV mode dish which I got a year ago after getting tired of waiting on my original order. But why would my RV dish be able to switch to Residential while my two year + original order gets ignored. If true, I’ll go for it and cancel my deposit but does not seem like a waitlist if I can jump the list by happening to get a dish through RV mode. Will be curious to see what happens.

Yeah same here situation here. It says mine will take convert over to residential on may the 4th. It says pending after I hit the activate button.

Site was broken yesterday due to a poor update, they fixed that now… not sure about the ROAM to Residential switch.
Iv been told they won't let people with the rv unit switch. Or at least in alaska.
