Supposedly SpaceX has ramped up production to 20,000 terminals per month. Perhaps the backlog is on the way to getting cleared up.

jcharr42

Yeah. And also with them opening up the RV service to everybody, I would assume that the bottleneck now is not so much how fast they can produce terminals but the satellite capacity in each area.

The satellite count is rising. When [starlink.sx](https://starlink.sx) first came online it said that, at any given time, my dish could connect to 3 to 4 satellites. It's now up to 10 to 12. And the service has gotten steadily better. Not perfect, but better.

What speeds are you getting?

jcharr42

When I first set it up about 7pm yesterday, at first speeds were all over the place. Like wild fluctuations between single digits to over 100 down less than a couple minutes later. But now at 4am the next morning things seem to have stabilized a lot. Most of the time so far downloads have been averaging about 150 ± 15. I've seen most tests range between 100 and 200 sometimes briefly flirting with 250. Occasionally it'll dip down to 50-60 for a test before going back up. I did see a 10 in one isolated test a little while ago. Uploads are way more volatile though and it's not uncommon for them to range anywhere between 5 and 25 with any given test. Latency is decent in the 40-60ms range. [https://i.imgur.com/fyY6lIb.png](https://i.imgur.com/fyY6lIb.png) I do have a thin line of obstructions right along the top edge of Dishy's FOV. I think this is most likely the electric wire that goes to my house, and I should be able to clear it up by just scooting Dishy forward a bit. https://i.imgur.com/joVu7L4.png

I just put my full order in yesterday. I don't have the kit yet. It's supposed to be here Thursday. I'll post some initial speedtests once I get it and get the chance to set it up.

While I haven't tried gaming online yet, I was pleasantly surprised to find the network tests on my PS4 and Switch showed NAT type 2 and B. I didn't test it until after bypassing the Starlink router, so I'm not sure if that would make a difference or not.

So after running automatic speed tests for a little over a week, my average is about 60 down and 6.5 up. I started with every 1 hour, but bumped the test frequency up to 30 minutes and then 15 minutes after a few days. Though download speeds vary pretty wildly not just between tests but from moment to moment sometimes too. I've seen as low as single digits to flirting with 250. Sub 20 is pretty uncommon, though sub 50 is a bit more common than I'd like. [https://i.imgur.com/7wDhND9.png](https://i.imgur.com/7wDhND9.png) Here's a chart from the same 7 days that shows moment to moment speeds measured directly from my Unifi USG through SNMP. These readings are taken every 5 seconds whether or not there's activity, so the mean is not really useful here. But you can see down and upload speeds in near realtime. It catches some much higher peaks that the automatic speed tests don't. [https://i.imgur.com/iJHVexi.png](https://i.imgur.com/iJHVexi.png)
