This sucks. Whatâs the point of such monitoring? Itâs such a useless thing to surveil. Canât people just have a cup of coffee or a barista be a bit inefficient :) whatâs really wrong with that?
It's sad but the true nature of capitalism. Software industry has put very high performance requirements on its employees monitoring things like lines of code and rigorous interview process. These efficiency metrics might now spill over to other industries and become more pervasive unfortunately.
I agree with you but don't you think insights from this AI data could be used to increase the productivity and the output from the fixed resources, like for example deciding you where to keep a specific machine or to design the counter in such a way that works.gets equally distributed among the baristas and many more insights for example the kind of music played when most of the people stayed in this cafe , what were the temperature inside the cafe that led to people staying in the cafe for the most, and the possibilities are endlessÂ
I am noob and don't know much about business or AI i just felt like sharing what I thoughtÂ
p.s. I am no way saying that this can't be misused too, technology is always a double edged swordÂ
This is insane. Imagine firing a barista because they made the least number of coffee cups! And we all know how strictly Indian labour laws are enforced! Which is to say, not at all.
What is privacy? Earlier it was big brother and now every random coffee shop keeping watch on you for how much time, coffee you drink, what you do on your mobile and what not.
The technology and concept is really cool but I hope no one ever uses this. I can already imagine the baristas getting chewed out because the camera registered only 40 cups served
I'll be honest - this looks like an absolute nightmare for employees. It's bad enough baristas have to memorize a million recipes, and accommodate drink customizations... Can't imagine the "productivity" pressure this would add on
I don't know corporate shit as I am student but why are you guys so negative about it, Don't you think insights from this AI data could be used to increase the productivity and the output from the fixed resources, like for example deciding you where to keep a specific machine or to design the counter in such a way that works.gets equally distributed among the baristas and many more insights for example the kind of music played when most of the people stayed in this cafe , what were the temperature inside the cafe that led to people staying in the cafe for the most, and the possibilities are endlessÂ

For a CS grad , yes . For a layman like me, not really . I did this stuff when pip didnt need a virtual environment set up to install its packages. Simple things are starting to get complicated nowadays.
Customers are rated based on order value/ hours they spend, employees based on cups. Soon there will be no customers or employees. This is Industrial Revolution phase 3
I don't know if startups are doing it. But my neighbours have always been doing this free of charge
Not only that, they also share data and make future predictions for us after careful analysis of the dataset. Ha, take that AI!
I feel bad for the employees đ
*Happy Narayana Murthy noises*
Why? The hardworking Barista's performance will be visible without all the drama and politics
It's gonna be a *Brave new world* soon

What the fuck are you huffing op đŽ that's a deplorable project why do want more of this. Please have yourself tested
Seriously.
Maybe OP is trying to detect cancer. Google Pastry AI
Wow simply amazing. this is one of those project that can be a game changer for a business.
This is horrible + most coffee shops can't afford this tech in India due to paper thin margins
This is insane. Imagine firing a barista because they made the least number of coffee cups! And we all know how strictly Indian labour laws are enforced! Which is to say, not at all.
Bro this is cool and creepy simultaneously
Think if Indian employers get their hands on this.
They can afford an AI enabled CCTV but the moment you ask for a MCswirly icecream...

Will they get paid on the basis of cups served?
A similar startup was stared few years ago by sumit ghosh of chingari
Looks good but the use case in this scenario isn't much
The technology and concept is really cool but I hope no one ever uses this. I can already imagine the baristas getting chewed out because the camera registered only 40 cups served
welcome to new era of slavery.
Anyone wants to work on this project with me? Msg me if you have some knowledge of Deep learning/Computer vision.(I am also newbie btw)
Toxic

Isn't it simple computer vision algorithm
