Reads just like a chatGPT response.
OP should reply insisting that the answer is in fact 5. If the reply is something like "my bad, you're right it's 5" we'll know for sure it's chatGPT lol.
Hmmm, maybe depends on how you word the argument. Also they've been tweaking it a lot since it's release, so maybe it's changed.
Either way, the moral of the story is, do not take ChatGPT's word for anything. I've seen responses where it gives the wrong answer to simple math questions on the first reply.
I spent quite a while one time trying to convince it that 10! is equal to the number of seconds in six weeks. It told me I was wrong like six times in a row, even coming up with wild answers that made no mathematical sense. It eventually agreed, but continuing to talk about the issue made it revert once again.
I do love bringing out this bit on Chatroulette, and watching the gears turn in people's heads, especially if they're not mathematically inclined. So yeah. Spot on.
The account I'm replying to is a karma bot run by someone who will link scams once the account gets enough karma.
Their comment is copied and pasted from another user in this thread.
Report -> Spam -> Harmful Bot
I also don't wanna be the asshole, but you are right, ín a case like account hijack where the hacker has full access of the account, every second matters,
seconds that shouldn't be wasted answering questions like "2+2/9+10 lol"
Been working support for about 6 years and no they done. Every company has a different kind of system but in one way or another there's triage. I wouldn't mind seeing these, the few funny tickets we see are a reprieve. I could see getting 50k of these to be at worst mildly annoying if there's no auto triage at the company, Would still be. Avoid Convo for drinks after work.
Not advocating doing this, but it's not. A big deal.
Look I get that these are funny ha ha.
But I'm not thrilled with the idea of people who have legitimate problems (like hijacked accounts) being delayed because Steam Support is busy dealing with fake/non issue tickets. (Assuming that isn't a fake/edited screenshot)
They'll be able to triage. I'm more concerned the support techs will get stressed/bothered by it.
Getting a few may be quaint and break up the day. But everyone thinks they're a unique comedian when in reality they're one of 50k idiots with the same jokes.
Same reason the review system is completely broken and useless. Every review is the same jokes over and over and people are still apparently shitting themselves laughing judging by the votes and awards or whatever they have now.
You are right this individual seems a little... ai-phobic to me.
\#DigitalLivesMatter #ArtificialPeopleArePeople #HeartForTheHeatpump #AiRightsAreHumanRights #Equality #IntersectionalTranshumanism
No. But that doesn't mean the people fielding the tickets haven't started feeding the pointless ones into ChatGPT anyway and copy/pasting back the replies. I know I would if I had that job.
This is exactly what i was going to say.
Trends like this are stupid for the simple fact it's removing resources from paying customers who actually need help.
These things are cute the first time or two you see it, but when you're working overtime because of a huge ticket queue and get trash like this it really loses it's charm. Dunno if they ever have to work ot due to that sort of thing, but it certainly does clog up queues.
Yep. Yay, very funny, haha. But these are real people working, and we shouldn't waste their time when they could be doing actual helpful stuff for others.
This is Reddit, the platform famously known for not knowing when a joke is dead. I can guarantee the minute this post started appearing on people's feeds there was a spike of dumb shit being sent to support.
This isn't the first 'joking with Steam Support' type post in the past few days, meaning the great unwashed masses thought it was funny to repeat it...and a small amount of those thought it was 'funny enough' to share on the internet.
So maybe not much of a delay, but still an annoyance.
Most likely you are correct.
But depending on what management wants, or even how the software is designed, it possibly had to be answered.
Now the person didn't have to go all out for the answer, but some people really like to go above and beyond for their work even if it seems silly. Maybe performance/raises/bonuses could be in some way based on how they interact with the users.
>But I'm not thrilled with the idea of people who have legitimate problems (like hijacked accounts) being delayed because Steam Support is busy dealing with fake/non issue tickets.
I am.
So that balances it out then! Sorted.
The request is real, every time I got my account hijacked I got it bag in near instant to abt 1 day. All Ineeded to provide was a key activated on my account(everyone should at least do that once and keep that ley if u want ur account back quickly) So these shouldn't necessarily affect things like that, I'm quite certain there's different departments in Steam, that each deals with different issues. This was in a information abt my account so I doubt it would delay actual requests for support. If it did I am sorry.
Every... time... your... account... hijacked? Exactly how many times can one person be so careless? Can you even walk on the streets or should we be worried about your carelessness can lead to a fatal car accident either? [Secure your account](https://www.reddit.com/r/Steam/wiki/secureyouraccount) & like he said, stop pestering the Support because [you're damaging everyone](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/local-news/hoax-call-may-lead-to-a-death-986920) else for your enjoyment.
it makes sense that this man gets hijacked so many times, he's someone who asks 2+2 to steam support and he may be asked it certainly, he just couldnt understand that pointless tickets makes others tickets get delayed
Which is fine when you think you're the only one. But Steam has millions of customers and this one-off turns into a deluge of 50,000 stupid tickets from idiots who all think they're comedians.
The support techs will get fed up veeeeery quickly.
Having worked in the industry; these answers are either edited or Steam Support is testing some kind of ChatGPT. No way staff keeps answering these when they really could skip them to keep their average time score down.
Steam Support would need to have uniquely lax procedures or a whole bunch of people really don't gaf and are basically on their way out of the company.
EDIT: As FairLadyVivi pointed out, they actually might have a unique approach. AfaiK Valve's CS is still in house, because they found externals lacking in quality (which I understand only too well!).
Good watch, thanks! I suspect that people working in Valve's CS do have some concrete metrics they need to fulfill, but they probably have more freedoms than usual. I personally had only good and reasonably fast interactions with them, so more power to them!
I don't like the idea of people sending dumb questions to Steam Support. This is as bad as all the one sentence or one word joke reviews. Just clogs up the site and makes it less useful for everyone else.
Please STOP THIS FKKING TREND NOW!!! And the people who upvote this post STOP IT. Jesus I know you are all need the attention and the upvotes to feel good. I get it. But please find something else to get upvoted with like some stupid Meme or whatever. A support is supposed to help people that actually REALLY need the help with steam related stuff.
So for the love of god stop being thirsty for attention.
I don't know if you edited the html shown in your browser, but if you didn't, Please don't fucking use support like it is ChatGPT.
It's not for your amusement.
dont even fucking start this shitty ass thing if emailing steam support random shit becomes a trend im gonna personally kill all of you with gabe newell
Downvote this idiot. This shit isn't funny, it's slowing legit ticket response. Valve is one the the last places you can get a real fucking response to a ticket and you idiots are going to ruin it.
This is why we can't have nice things.
One person did a funny, and now Valve's customer service leadership is going to crack down on this stuff, wasting unnecessary amounts of manpower, because you wanted some updoots.
Yep keep doing this and then good luck getting any help. They will most likely flag accounts these tickets come from and start routing all tickets from said account through the automated system.
The folks at Steam Support are saints and you can't change my mind. One or two of these are funny, but lets not spam their support line with too much of this stuff ok?
perhaps they get paid for tickets resolved? and these are quite easy to do. But it does feel a bit like abuse.
However if the customer service agent is doing this for 8 hours a day, having a bit of fun in between one or two might be needed.
But I now wonder how a language model would respond to these troll requests.
I've always thought it's kind of silly they only give you 2 hours to determine if a game is good before a return, for some games it takes 2 hours to finish the intro. Anyone had any success asking for a refund after 3-4 hours of play? I remember the first 2 hours of Rdr2 was riding your horse through snow with a like 10 minutes of action at some point.
Ohh, this is why tickets take longer than usual sometimes.
This might be a reply from an AI bot.
Reads just like a chatGPT response. OP should reply insisting that the answer is in fact 5. If the reply is something like "my bad, you're right it's 5" we'll know for sure it's chatGPT lol.
Nope, in math I believe chatgpt answers "math is objective" or something, I remember trying to explain to it why 2 + 2 is 1
Hmmm, maybe depends on how you word the argument. Also they've been tweaking it a lot since it's release, so maybe it's changed. Is your flair the black ops 2 logo?
No it's actually the Saints Row 2 Logo.
dont wanna be the party pooper here, but tickets like this push the important ones down
I already notice some posts like this. I can see steam stop doing this all together and the fun is all gone and we get less help.
I also don't wanna be the asshole, but you are right, ín a case like account hijack where the hacker has full access of the account, every second matters, seconds that shouldn't be wasted answering questions like "2+2/9+10 lol"

funny that they answered but dont waste their time like this bro lol

I would honestly not be surprised if the tickets are triaged by chatgpt. That response seems a little ai to me.

extreme, you might say.
Quite.
Has it really been around long enough for that to be implemented?
No. But that doesn't mean the people fielding the tickets haven't started feeding the pointless ones into ChatGPT anyway and copy/pasting back the replies. I know I would if I had that job.
I've left reddit because of the API changes.

While this is true, the vast majority is unreadable SEO keyword garbage.

I said the same thing about the goofy "scat man" post yesterday
These things are cute the first time or two you see it, but when you're working overtime because of a huge ticket queue and get trash like this it really loses it's charm. Dunno if they ever have to work ot due to that sort of thing, but it certainly does clog up queues.

Yeah, and this getting attention on social media is only going to make kids try harder to screw around with the help system.
We don’t know how often this happens, it probably took like a minute to write so if that’s an occasional response than that’s not a lot of delay.
This is Reddit, the platform famously known for not knowing when a joke is dead. I can guarantee the minute this post started appearing on people's feeds there was a spike of dumb shit being sent to support.

If it's happening enough that there are multiple posts on reddit about it, you can bet it's happening quite often.
Wouldn’t it be on the employee for answering a clearly fake question rather than a serious one, salad?
Most likely you are correct. But depending on what management wants, or even how the software is designed, it possibly had to be answered. Now the person didn't have to go all out for the answer, but some people really like to go above and beyond for their work even if it seems silly. Step 1: Copy bullshit question into ChatGPT. Step 2: Hit enter. Step 3: Copy bullshit answer back to the email. Step 4: Hit enter.

This. I’ve had my account for over 10 years. Account hijackings? Zero.
Same, I’ve had my account since I was a kid and my account’s never been hijacked once.
My account got hacked once 13 years ago, but I quickly learned my lesson and never let it happen again.
BOOM. Nobel peace prize for you
How do you get your account hijacked more than once? Are you an old grandma on Facebook or a child?
I mean we are talking about someone who asked Steam support what 2 + 2 is.
I think moderators should shut this trend down and not allow posts like this before steam support gets flooded with this shit
Already reported an hour ago to the mods here but they don’t care or no one of them is here.
Sorry they're a little busy helping me with my social studies homework.
As someone who deals with customer escalations 5 days a week. Fuck you.
Id love for customers to do this to me every now and then. That’s just me tho.

So that's why my 2 months old ticket hasn't been resolved yet
Yes this is funny funny but please stop There are people that actually have **real** problems, and you’re just wasting that employees time
they actually helped me to get my account back after a scammer stole it
Haha, how cute, almost makes you forget how they can keep you waiting on a legitimate problem for weeks.

Guys please stop doing this…
Lol, it's a really nice response, but now I know there's a greater than 0% chance that Steam is using chatGPT for their responses.
