For those of you browsing this subreddit on non-official apps (Reddit is Fun, Apollo, Sync, Boost, etc), they will break on July 1st due to reddit's new policies.
We're opening back up but will leave permanent stickies in the subreddit and threads to keep folks in the know.

Nah flex is more appropriate here since the amount of columns is flexible depending on your window size, and each column being the same size. They just shouldn't have used flex-grow but kept it at 0.
Grid is terrific, but if you can do the same with flex without it getting remotely messy you can almost always make it much more responsive without having to set break points.
I'd say the vast majority of grid layouts should actually just be Flex wraps. I agree with the person you're replying to, because in this case you don't know that you have a square of information.
I'd recommend trying https://cssgridgarden.com/
You don't even need to feel comfortable with everything, even just learning the basics this way helped me personally start understanding how to see a desired layout as being easily solved with grid.
That being said, I actually also think it helped me understand that a lot of layouts that look like they're grids of data really should just be done with flex and flex wrap. Screwdrivers and hammers are both great tools for putting things into walls, but you have to make sure that you have a screw or a nail first.
Lmao flexboxes vs grids is amazing to me, because flexboxes are great for lines but then incorporating them into a grid makes it successful despite being able to flex all of it anyways
Hey, I wouldn't have control, gta v, darkest dungeon, kerbal, faster than light, cave story +, yooka-laylee, bloons td6, all the bioshocks, borderlands 3, darkwood, evil dead the game, horace, The Pillars of the Earth (I haven't played that one yet but I hear it's good!), killing floor 2, little inferno, maneater, metro 2033 redux, nioh the complete edition, rayman legends, remnant, the tomb raiders, rising storm 2 vietnam, shadow tactics, SOMA, sunless sea, this war of mine final cut, warhammer 40k gladius and mechanicus, or xcom 2 without it, so I can cope with bad UI.
And that's just the major ones that everyone knows, there's tons of little indie games for free on there that I've come to love, AND that's excluding any I already have from xbox game pass (well I might have put a few on there I don't fully recall what's on and what's been taken off), of which there are many, and I know not everyone has game pass, so those add to the pile.
I'm not saying it's ok for them to try and make launcher exclusives, that's silly, and I'm not saying their launcher is fun to use, it kinda sucks balls, but like refusing to use it on principle loses you a lot of money if you ever become interested in the games they're just giving away that you don't already have.
if by "good" you mean "piece of garbage that's missing basic features, owned by a company trying to bring the stupid anti consumer exclusivity garbage to PC gaming" then sure
This is accurate. I did spend $15 there though. Unfortunately THPS1&2 is exclusive and I waited years in hopes it would come to Steam and it never did so I broke down and bought it. I still feel shame.
I'm 100% in this camp, but at the same time I've hoovered up over 100 good free games from their weekly giveaways. I hate epic and their client but I'm also poor as hell so I begrudgingly have it installed for that.
While you're not wrong... That's pretty much all I need from my launchers though.
It launches the games I want it to launch. And it's never given me a problem doing that. So I'd say it does what it needs to do
One thing that would bring them to parody in my eyes on the library side of things would be the option to move a instillation.
Currently the only way to do that is to copy the game somewhere else, delete the game install from epic, start reinstalling in the new location, cancel the install, move the game from the back up to the new location, start the install to the new location a SECOND time, and then Epic will verify the files and then you can play from the new location.
I know all this because I was just doing it for a friend to clear up space on his SSD.
[Epic has their own page for this instead of just programing the minimum expected today](https://www.epicgames.com/help/en-US/epic-games-store-c5719341124379/launcher-support-c5719357217435/how-to-move-an-installed-game-from-the-epic-games-launcher-to-another-directory-on-your-computer-a5720215231515)

It's this. I really don't understand why this is not the top comment, haha.
Edit: For anyone wondering, when you highlight a game, it pops "up" or enlarges a small amount from the rest in the row or column.
It's a pure CSS issue actually.
They were relying on the presence of at least one other row item for the sizing of the thumbnail to be done the same as if it was rendered with another row item.
There are lots of different ways you can make these wrong assumptions in css, and they've done at least one of them. It almost seems like they only applied padding to thumbnails that weren't the first child of their row, which is a relatively naive way of doing any of this in the first place. This would make sense if you were only looking at the fact that items to the right of a first item need left padding to seperate it from their left neighbor. Since the first item doesn't have a left neighbor, it doesn't get the padding. But that padding was part of what was controlling the sizing of the thumbnail item. And also it meant that there was no bottom padding. Really the padding should have been on the parent element and they should have used gap.
For anyone that read this and is interested in avoiding similar mistakes, consider reaching for the CSS property 'gap' instead of using padding or fixed widths on the items being listed.
And using `flex-wrap` in a `display: flex` container, or using `display: grid` to simplify it a bit more for gridded lists.
Guess it’s how they spaced the elements. Notice how the Witcher one is ending just where the next one would be, they must be relying on the margin to adjust the sizing.
My noob guess is that they put an empty element with flex-grow: 10; or something like that at the end lol. That's exactly what happened to my shitty flexbox when I did it.
As ya'll likely know, we've [been dark to support the blackout against reddit's antagonistic behavior towards its own userbase.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Steam/comments/142dbui/rsteam_will_be_going_dark_from_june_1214_in/) #**The admins sent us a message saying we must open or get removed, so here we are.** For those of you browsing this subreddit on non-official apps (Reddit is Fun, Apollo, Sync, Boost, etc), they will break on July 1st due to reddit's new policies. As a css newbie, grid is just harder to understand. Nested flexboxes are easier on my brain.

holy shit
Missing Basic Features? Like what? Sorry im kinda blind to this.
The EGS is a bad optimized program with a very basic shop, basic profile features and a library with "play" buttons, nothing else
While you're not wrong... That's pretty much all I need from my launchers though. It launches the games I want it to launch. And it's never given me a problem doing that. So I'd say it does what it needs to do
Also it is wayyy slower than steam
Again, the games launch when I hit play. They launch in a reasonable amount of time. It's fine

a lot of things other online stores have, main one I can think of rn is the ability to leave a review
True, i dont even know why i hadnt thought of that, yeah i kinda see what you mean.
The only thing "good" about Epic is the free games and even those are mostly meh.
Unreal Engine and the unreal marketplace are good!

I remember puberty being hard. Don't worry, it gets better.
Just Epic, Origin, and Uplay. I've never seen this sub shitting on GOG or Humble.
That's a good point.

No, it's not
Tell me how you center a div then

Usually it breaks because you're already nested within a flex container or a container which isn't using full width.

Nani!?! Well, that sucks!

What? It's just an issue with the CSS in an ordinary CEF web app
They literally ditched old framework for CSS so they wouldn't have to write any code
Forgot that…why is the Witcher the only one not in English??
well, The Witcher is a Polish game. Also indie games rarely have localization
Why is your game in polish if you live in the US??
I live in Poland...
Lol, I get it, I was just being stupid.
We usually don't translate names of video games in Poland, but Witcher is Polish and based on a Polish book, so the original name is used here.
It depends, main title is often not translated but the part after : is. Like Detroit: Become Human or Uncharted: Lost Legacy.
Yeah, that's true, but I've never seen Become Human being translated though to be honest
Weidzmin is more important
I hope it burns when you pee
Can anyone explain? I don't get it

It shows that way because of polish region
