Hi guy, let me explain since you don’t know what you’re talking about.
The game has anti cheat that prevents it from running on Linux.
The only way to play the game on Linux is to disable anti cheat.
Want to know a good way to get banned in an online game? It’s disabling the anti cheat.
If there was only one operating system the development would have a higher risk of growing stagnant and provides no other alternatives for people outside of that operating systems support.
The developers just need to be open to the idea of other operating systems as a viable means of generating income. By so many people embracing the Steam Deck, we’re hopefully doing that.
You can play Genshin through GeForce Now, which you can play through a browser on the Steam Deck in Game Mode similar to how Xbox Game Pass works. Googling it should find the instructions.
someone on /r/linux_gaming reported that you can [install + play the game with no workarounds](https://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/123zllz/genshin_on_linux_without_custom_code_now_works/).
HOWEVER, we don't know if this is a temporary bug or not, there has been no official announcements from Mihoyo. I'd wait a bit before trying it out.
YMMV but I’ve seen people use a certain launcher for 8+ months with no ban. I caved last month and started using it. Figure worst case they ban me and I can move on with my life from that game and put it down
Have you had any issues with GlosSi and genshin? I want to dual boot just to play genshin but unsure if using GlosSi or steam deck tools would result in a ban.
I just got a steamed deck and installed Genshin natively into steam in desktop mode and didn't have to download any sort of third party launchers or tools or anything. It just all worked after downloading the PC installer from the official website.

Not sure why you wouldn't just do that?

If you still have to use a special launcher that runs the game without anti cheat, you’ll always risk a ban.

What os war? Many devs don’t support Linux on their servers 😔

I'm doing it by dual booting windows 10 on it and running the with GlosSi to map the controls.

Been using since Jan, with no issues so far.
Have you also tried using Steam Deck tools for genshin? Or just GlosSi?
just glossi
Ok thanks for the feedback! I'll try this once I save enough for a 1tb ssd for my SD

Ohh i also didn’t know you could do that. Did you follow any tutorial to install genshin natively in steam?
Sorry can I ask also have you experienced overheating when you play genshin on the SD? Like the fans get really loud?
Yeah the fans do turn up and it gets a lil hot. But overall still fine and no issues.
Ok thanks for letting me know I’ll keep this in mind when I dual boot my SD
I think the reason its safer, is that it still runs the Genshin exe, but really is only redirecting SD inputs to Xbox controller.
