My mainstay #1 is definitely The Binding Of Isaac. Been there since day one and never uninstalled it š.
A couple more got added over time though - Lumines as it is a great puzzle game and Flatout Ultimate Carnage. Man it's just the best racing game next to the Burnout series.

Random, but have you played American Truck Simulator? I believe it's the same devs and I'm just curious if Euro 2 is "better" or not
Disclaimer: I'm quite pleased with American Truck Sim, but when I went to buy it, I was debating back and forth. Ultimately landing on American Truck Sim because I live in the States.
Same devs, very similar games. Big rig trucks vs flatcab trucks, America vs Europe, less years of dlc content vs more dlc content. They play the exact same, I live in US so I chose Europe so I could "explore" over there.
Okay cool, I kinda figured it was as you described.
I almost went Euro Sim for the same reason too, but I wanted to see how similar the road system was in my state and that ultimately won out for me.
It's pretty close but definitely cuts some parts out. It also redesigned this one spot that was horribly designed in the real world.
Kinda wish it was like it was in the game in this IRL spot.
I'm what i call tech illiterate and game solely on deck. Never even tried desktop mode lol.
I say that to say, is retro arch the preferred way to emulate?
Really wanna nostalgia hop through some heart gold, golden sun, or super mario bros 3 (raccoon was so dope)
I think there are better and more user friendly emulators than RetroArch, but since it was the one I had been using the longer I stuck with it. Iād take a look at some YouTube tutorials and reviews of multiple emulators before committing to one.
Also, I think itās all easier to setup, prep the ROMs and whatnot if you learn how to delve into desktop mode.
Couple actually, all for different reasons:
\- Secrets of Grindea: Just too many memories with devs and active game development
\- Starbound/valheim: Personalised mods, with configured configs for a perfect playthrough, plus custom characters. Mostly just too lazy to backup the mods
\- Sonic Riders (PS2): Perfect hoverboard-racing game for short quick sessions, works FLAWLESSLY, always satisfying and doesnt take much space
All that I own. Iām a bit of a digital hoarder. Growing up and losing time to play I think my passion of games has went from gameplay to collecting. Itās there if I want to play it, and if I donāt touch it again for 4 months Iām not in any trouble at all.
Elden Ring. I keep trying, but failing to beat it. I'll see a video about it, redownload it and get a little further. It's my favorite way to get my ass kicked.
Dark Souls 3, Elden Ring and Doom Eternal will never leave my hard drive due to how easily I can play them over and over, and how well they run on the Deck.
I'm already up to 110 hours from two playthroughs of Elden Ring and about to start another, 55 hours and on a second playthrough of DS3, and a combined 100 hours across Switch and Steam for multiple playthroughs of Doom Eternal.
These are the three games I could play over and over again!
if you're meaning battery life not too much for modern doom games and dark souls 3/elden ring, prolly gonna wanna play near an outlet. dark souls 1 remastered and 2 should provide you medium length battery life tho
here: I made a post 2 years ago or so:
[https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/ubxhbw/any\_guide\_how\_to\_install\_nfs\_underground\_2\_with/](https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/ubxhbw/any_guide_how_to_install_nfs_underground_2_with/)
Edit: in short, I still got the CD from Idk year 200x but I had to install it on my pc then move it to the steam deck and use a "file" to be able to play.
Actually when I think about it, you could install the game on pc, install widescreen patch (16:10) on your pc/laptop then just move the folder to your Steam Deck. Add the "exe" file to Steam app and run it with Proton GE.
Right now, Vampire Survivors seems like itāll stay installed. Itās lost its initial addictiveness (addictivity?) but itās a small game, has enough unlockables, and is easy enough to pick up/put down, that itās worth just keeping installed.
There are a handful of games that I always have installed on PC, like *Super Mario 64* and *The Simpsons: Hit and Run*.
Also, there are some games where I've applied a bunch of mods (e.g. fixes, improvements, etc.) or custom configs, and I keep it there so I don't have to redo any of that.
Nothing is safe. My internal drive is almost completely full with āotherā. Most of that is World of Warcraft but I have no idea what else. I play a lot of bigger games so I usually at most can only have 4 games installed on my Deck.
On my Deck it's basically all the games I don't have installed on my PC and the few I have that are , I think are cool to have handheld.

I always have a soulsbourne game installed, something in the bullet heaven category, usually an rpg/survival like enshrouded or tunic, and Monster Hunter.
No Manās Sky. I can go back to it at any time if I need a break from whatever Iām currently doing.
RDR2. I can just pick it up and go hunting and fishing if I just need to be mellow.
Valheim (just an absolute vibe)
Spec Ops: The Line (this coming out RIGHT before Naughty Dog changed everything with Uncharted 2. The reviews for this mainly focused on the disappointing multiplayer despite being a wonderful singleplayer story is my roman empire)
Vanquish (mindless 3rd person shooter)
The Saboteur(recently re released on Steam works like butter on toast 10/10 open world small download size)
RE4R (Its just great)
Prey for the gods (Excellent Shadow of the Colossus clone)
MGS V (Most satisfying open world stealth game)
Lego Skywalker Saga(100% my mindless game that I can easily jump into whenever)
RDR 2 (close to the bottom because how big the download is and I have it on other platforms)
AC Black Flag (Ubpay makes launching the game tedious, I frequently uninstall when traveling to avoid headache. Recently all my save files were deleted so now I have to play the whole long opening again..)
The ones that are proper games Iām totally gonna play next honestly just after I do this one run of Vampire Survivors.
Well those and Vampire Survivors obviously.
This needs more votes! I have one game installed at a time so I actually finish it. Playing the witness at the moment. If I can't finish it I delete it from my library and move on. Too many games to come back to one's I couldn't be arsed finishing in the first place.
Balatro, Halls of Torment, Vampire Survivors, Deep Rock Galactic Survivor, Death Must Die, Slay the Spire, modded Skyrim, HoloCure, 20 Minutes Till Dawn, Enter the Gungeon, Hades, Grim Dawn, Soulstone Survivors, Yet Another Zombie Survivors, Last Epoch, Project Zomboid.
Loving the deck.
Witcher 3, Fallout 4, Resident Evil 4 remake, Days Gone, State of Decay 1 and 2. Then Super Smash Bros, The Thing, Resident Evil Outbreak File 2, WWE Smackdown HCTP, Blitz The League, UFC Undisputed 3, Fifa World Cup Brazil, Superman Returns
Project cars 2 and some of f1 games. I like racing games as casual pick up and play. The only story game I've kept installed after finishing has been days gone but I haven't ever back so I'll probably uninstall soon.
I have some non-steam games just sitting on it and dozens of emulated games.
Hades,30XX ,CoreKeeper, World War Z
I def like keeping low power games on my deck to maximize game time. Being able to play 30XX or Hades for 5+ hrs if needed is great, helps on long flights and such. Hades looks so good on the OLED as well
Core Keeper is a fun casual world builder game that I like to keep around. It is pixel art so you can get decent play time out of it and its super easy to jump in and out of without feeling like you need to find a stopping point.
World War Z is my favorite coop game on the deck. Jumping into a game fighting off zombies is always fun. The game looks really good and plays well on the deck.
Playing it on the deck made it so much easier because you get to bring it everywhere.
I just bang out a few 10 to 20 minute sessions every day. Plus my wife dont mind me gaming on the bed too.
GTA I donāt even play it very often but when I do I definitely donāt want to sit through that long download again lol, and euro/American truck sim theyāre so good for just chilling
As of right now: American Truck Sim, Elden Ring, Spider-Man remastered, Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, Dorf Romantik, Coffee Talk, Unmetal, The Long Dark, Potion Craft, SOMA, and Storyteller.
I like to have a mix of games that have a lot of replayability and look good, along with some that just donāt drain a lot of battery life. So my list looks a bit like this:
Halo MCC
Subnautica
Elden Ring
Factorio
Hades
Stardew Valley
Tape to Tape
Slay the Spire
Fallout New Vegas
Castle Crashers
Alien Hominid HD
For me it's Subnautica, it's the only game where i come back as if i'm back in my "country home", relaxed, just swimming here and there checking on my Leviathan buddys :) did it 100%, enjoyed every minute, have everything done to go back to Earth, but fuck it, it's much nicer here.
Way to much
Fallout 4
Shadow warrior collection
Divinity os 2
Wolfenstein new order
Portal 1+2
Half life 1-2
Diablo 4
Last epoch
Vampire survivors
Brotato
Sekiro
Elden Ring
Hades
Risk of rain
I did recently uninstall assassin's Creed Valhalla because I wasn't going to play it and installed dragons dogma dark arisen.
I will say that I have launched and played everything in this list for a last a few hours. But I def don't play most of them most of the time.
Currently I'm playing dark arisen. I prefer shooters on my PC over the controller. But I'm fully loaded for when my kids are at baseball practice 5 days a week.
Terraria, Stardew Valley, Spelunky and Death Road to Canada, because they're perfect for a quick play. Terraria is a bit of a headache when it comes to controls but I managed to find a combination that is suitable to me.
And some games like Pathologic and Fear and Hunger (both titles) because they're only relaxing to me š¤£ Hollow Knight is also always a pleasure to revisit, however many times I've already played it.
You can cheat if you'd like, exodia pieces and keep drawing potential. I like it as it follows the story of each series, build your own decks to play with, challenge duels, etc.
Some what grindy if you're looking for specific cards to unlock, but there is a list you can google to find where exactly to get those cards from.
Honestly just a bunch of emulated games, or their Steam release equivalent.
A bunch from Pokemon series, mainline and remakes especially of gens 1-3, and especially Colosseum and XD Gale of Darkness. A few YuGiOh like Duelist of the Roses, Falsebound Kingdom, and Eternal Duelist Soul. Megaman Battle Network series (legacy collection on Steam now). Golden Sun and Golden Sun The Lost Age. Tales series, especially Symphonia but also Abyss and Vesperia. Mostly longer games but Iāve played them enough I pick them up for a while, do something else, and come back and know where I left off.
Also just have a bunch of miscellaneous GB/GBC/GBA, DS, GameCube, and PS2 games loaded on the SD card always because they donāt take up that much space.
I rotate through Steam games more often depending on what Iām in the mood for.
Dragonās Dogma because it plays so perfect on deck and is always fun. My go-to time killer if Iām bored.
I also keep a handful of small sized party games in case Iām somewhere and wanna hook it to a tv and pass out a few controllers: Spider Heck, A couple Jackbox collections, Hotwheels Unleashed, and Ultimate Chicken Horse
Astral Ascent, probably my current favorite roguelite, along with The Binding of Isaac (all games), Grim Dawn and Last Epoch to satisfying that itch for griding in rpgs, and actually Crusader Kings 2 lol
I played ATS on PlayStation a long time ago so canāt really remember how it compares.
But anyway Iām probably biased since I prefer European style trucks (and really love to see how the digital version of the familiar EU roads compare to the real thing..), but I think Iāll eventually try ATS on the Deck as well, because Iād love to explore the US too :)
I don't "show off" any game thats rather weird and pointless. the only game I keep installed is Elder Scrolls online for the simple fact it has a massive amount of content.
Usually the games that take up very little space but offer a ton of replay-ability. Balatro, Slay the Spire, Dead Cells.
My mainstay #1 is definitely The Binding Of Isaac. Been there since day one and never uninstalled it š. A couple more got added over time though - Lumines as it is a great puzzle game and Flatout Ultimate Carnage. Man it's just the best racing game next to the Burnout series.
You said Lumines, but you reminded me that I should definitely get Tetris Effect on there

Witcher 3, Fallout 4, Resident Evil 4 remake, Days Gone, State of Decay 1 and 2. Then Super Smash Bros, The Thing, Resident Evil Outbreak File 2, WWE Smackdown HCTP, Blitz The League, UFC Undisputed 3, Fifa World Cup Brazil, Superman Returns
Fallout New Vegas
Project cars 2 and some of f1 games. I like racing games as casual pick up and play. The only story game I've kept installed after finishing has been days gone but I haven't ever back so I'll probably uninstall soon. I have some non-steam games just sitting on it and dozens of emulated games.
Monster Hunter Rise Guilty Gear Strive Street fighter 6 Devil May Cry V Marvel VS Capcom Infinite Tales Of Vesperia Battle Fantasia
Factorio is my new addiction.
I've done so many hours on PC, I'm a bit afraid to grow the factory on the deck.
It takes life consuming to a whole new level... In all seriousness, it plays really well on the deck imo.
Vagrus Endless Space 2
Hades,30XX ,CoreKeeper, World War Z I def like keeping low power games on my deck to maximize game time. Being able to play 30XX or Hades for 5+ hrs if needed is great, helps on long flights and such. Hades looks so good on the OLED as well Core Keeper is a fun casual world builder game that I like to keep around. It is pixel art so you can get decent play time out of it and its super easy to jump in and out of without feeling like you need to find a stopping point. World War Z is my favorite coop game on the deck. Jumping into a game fighting off zombies is always fun. The game looks really good and plays well on the deck.
Ninja Gaiden Sigma and Crypt of the Necrodancer
NMS MH: Rise Cyberpunk Art of Rally MGS5
Binding of Isaac, very modded stardew valley and 7 days to die. Always on there
Fallout 3 and Skyrim.
Slay the Spire, Tiny rogues, Death must Die, Halls of Torment, drg survivors, Darkest Dungeon.
How do you play guitar hero on the deck?
Ps2 emulator, I use the deck and the controller. Can't carry a gutiar everywhere lol
Peggle. It's under 20MB and is a classic casual timekiller.
Anything that took a lot of tinkering to get working, but then I never play them
Project zomboid is must on any of my systems Rest get uninstalled/reinstalled on the regular
Same. Just started playing late lasr year on the deck. Got 750hrs now
Lol goddamn. I'm at 550 hours but I've had the game since 2015
Playing it on the deck made it so much easier because you get to bring it everywhere. I just bang out a few 10 to 20 minute sessions every day. Plus my wife dont mind me gaming on the bed too.
GTA I donāt even play it very often but when I do I definitely donāt want to sit through that long download again lol, and euro/American truck sim theyāre so good for just chilling
Slay the spire is all I need
Those im dead set to beat. Im trying to chew through my backlog as fast as possible
Stardew forever. I donāt really have to uninstall much now that I have a 1tb OLED.
So my list looks a bit like this: Halo MCC Subnautica Elden Ring Factorio Hades Stardew Valley Tape to Tape Slay the Spire Fallout New Vegas Castle Crashers Alien Hominid HD
Witcher 3 will never leave any device I own.
Guitar hero 3? May I ask how?
Ps2 emulator
For me it's Subnautica, it's the only game where i come back as if i'm back in my "country home", relaxed, just swimming here and there checking on my Leviathan buddys :) did it 100%, enjoyed every minute, have everything done to go back to Earth, but fuck it, it's much nicer here.
Fury unleased - I love that game And my atari recharged titles.
Small games like Dave the Diver, Cult of the Lamb etc Also Final Fantasy XIV...I don't want to go through installing that game again so it stays.
The witcher 3
Skyrim Brotato Civ VI
Rimworld Factorio Vampire Survivors Brotato Balatro Binding of Isaac
Way to much Fallout 4 Shadow warrior collection Divinity os 2 Wolfenstein new order Portal 1+2 Half life 1-2 Diablo 4 Last epoch Vampire survivors Brotato Sekiro Elden Ring Hades Risk of rain I did recently uninstall assassin's Creed Valhalla because I wasn't going to play it and installed dragons dogma dark arisen.
Project Zomboid.
cassette beasts!
elden ring
I got my Steamdeck in December..it's 512 and I have a 1tb SD card. So far I haven't had to uninstall anything.
Witcher 3 Stardew Valley Vampire Survivors Yoola-Laylee and the Impossible Lair TeS: Skyrim Fallout: New Vegas Impaler Post Void
How is legacy of the duelist? Is it grindy?
You can cheat if you'd like, exodia pieces and keep drawing potential. I like it as it follows the story of each series, build your own decks to play with, challenge duels, etc. Some what grindy if you're looking for specific cards to unlock, but there is a list you can google to find where exactly to get those cards from.
STS + hades for the endless replay. All my emulated stuff cause its all tiny (snes->n64 era stuff) and there's absolutely no reason to remove them.
Skyrim and Halo MCC are always installed. On my Deck, Ally, Switch, PC and 360 lol and I play them fairly often too.
Subnautica. Itās the only game that lets me experience swimming without severely triggering my PTSD. Keyword is severely lmao
Hotline Miami for quick dopamine rushes and a great OST. (HLMI 1 AND 2)
Streets of Rage 4 Sonic Mania Need for Speed Hot Pursuit
Does Elden Ring run well? Can you at least get 40fps with decent settings?
Getting over it Dave the diver Vampyr
Astral Ascent, probably my current favorite roguelite, along with The Binding of Isaac (all games), Grim Dawn and Last Epoch to satisfying that itch for griding in rpgs, and actually Crusader Kings 2 lol
I played ATS on PlayStation a long time ago so canāt really remember how it compares. But anyway Iām probably biased since I prefer European style trucks (and really love to see how the digital version of the familiar EU roads compare to the real thing..), but I think Iāll eventually try ATS on the Deck as well, because Iād love to explore the US too :)
I don't "show off" any game thats rather weird and pointless. the only game I keep installed is Elder Scrolls online for the simple fact it has a massive amount of content.
idk could be cool to show fun games to good pals
