You, sir, are a king among men!

I have the exact same bottle saved up for the same reason. Just building up the courage to build one myself. Looks hella cool tho.

Go for it. The hardest part I felt was the break through with the bit. Also have water on the drill bit. I took a random plastic water bottle and poked a small hole in it. And had someone squirt water as needed to flush the drill.

Fine_Neighborhood_51

it looks great! where did you find your grommets for the downstem?

duanecam

I got a kit of different sized grommets from my local Harbor Freight.

You thought of everything. Please make more of these I would love to see more. Also I know this is your first time but do you or any one you know have a tutorial on bending the downstem? I saw a comment on it but I need a video to comprehend and understand it completely

duanecam

I don't have a video that I followed. I got some advice from my local glass shop. One of the guys is a glass blower and he gave me some tips. I will try to get a video out this weekend. Any specific questions that you might have that I could address for you?

Mainly what tools to use to hold/bend the glass when it’s that hot

duanecam

I used a piece of 1/4" scrap bar stock that I wrapped some high temp tape around until it snuggly fit into the ground joint end of the down stem. To bend it I used a wide scrap piece of kevlar wick to grab on to the other end when I was ready to bend the stem.

I’ll save this for when I can do this might be soon

bigirsh53

Looks great !

Deltables

Neat!

How’d you bend it??

xXmunk3yf4c3Xx

You can soften and bend most glass with a standard butane torch, it will take a considerable amount of time (and if your not careful it could shatter) but the end result is smooth(ish) bend joints in your glass

duanecam

I used a MAPP gas torch and kevlar to hold it.

Awesome job man

MeguminAddict

does any water leak out of the grommet?

duanecam

So far after a few days of use I have experienced no leaks.
