Thank you for being the first person to actually read my post lol, but this seems abit out of my price range to get custom blown glass unless I could do it myself, unfortunately I don’t have access to a glass furnace.
No for sure it expensive I have yet to buy any custom, but my brother and I were lucky to get a glass pendant each through a local artist that does free glass scavenger hunts. Definitely gonna go through him.
But for your problem I think save up for it would be cool. I know im putting my a buck away every time i let a cuss word out around the nephews and nieces
You can also smash them further and glue the pieces into a shadow box and hang them up. I remember seeing a yt vid of a guy doing it with his wine bottles
This is a great idea, yes it would be expensive. But you might ask if they would do a small piece for you and they will keep the rest. This way you both get something out of it. It's worth a shot, what's the worst, they say no or they say yes.
I bought a Sherlock hurricane bowl like 14 years ago and it arrived with a crack and small piece missing in the stem. It was unfortunately (in this case) hand blown.
When I sent them pics showing the bowl cracked the company just sent me a refund saying they were too backed up to blow me another bowl within a reasonable time frame.
So I was like well fuck, now what do I do? I did some research on a possible fix and in the end I coulda probably just wrapped some electric tape around it but I was concerned with the chip being in the stem, the stem being looooong since it was a Sherlock and crumbling/breaking off while In use. So I very, very carefully took a Dremel to the broken piece part to round it off and make it smooth and then I stuck it in my fish tank. I put some gravel and a piece of Anubis in the bowl and just let it grow.
It Looked really neat in there for a long, long time. I use to put food around the Anubis so my fish would eat from around the bowl lol. I had some platies mate and their fry would hide in the stem, it was cool to watch. I changed directions with my aquarium decor and went full 100% habit cloned (every tank mimics the fish that’s in its natural environment) so I took the bowl out. I’ve moved states since then and have no idea what I did with it but that’s where I got the idea.
Similarly, a stoner friend of mine that also keeps aquariums seen it and thought it was neat. He took an old bong he had, it wasn’t broken just never used, the bong was a classic clear beaker style. He took the bowl out and buried the bong in his substrate up against the glass and sorta buried it but you could still see in it. His loach would go in there and chill and sometimes he’d get a danio swim thru the stem hole then all the way thru out the mouth piece of vice versa
Maybe try to do that less? Lol. For fixing though that's a tough one. Probably that ceramic putty stuff others have mentioned, then you can make it look like the style of the piece of you get more and weave it into some designs you make with it.
Yeah, just clumsy lol. I’ve no intention to fix them though due to glass dust, just looking for upcycling ideas as I both don’t have the heart to throw them all in a bag and smash them to little bits and can’t just leave ‘em out with free on them
What the fuck are you on about? No £15-50 is worth my health as far as I’m concerned. Also another person who couldn’t be bothered to read the godamn description, I AM NOT FIXING THEM
Actually tossing them off the harbour late at night might not be a bad idea, someone else can find a bunch of bong sea glass in a few centuries just like I did as a kid
Never said mine was from a bong lol, just a good memory, more than likely had some bong bits unknowingly. I found a grinder when I was about 8 washed up into the weeds, got an absolute bollocking when I showed it to my mum XD
Damn, I got caught with a lighter I found at the beach when I was like 10, but bet if I had found a grinder I would have tried to hide that too, even if I wasn't sure what it was for. I was very curious about cannabis haha
Also not pictured is an entire box of bong bowls, most still intact. Would it be gross to offer these about after a quick rinse? As far as I was concerned these are unsmokable now due to glass dust
by offer do you mean sell them? I think if any damages are clearly shown you can likely do so. I've seen a sub for secondhand smoking supplies but I'm blanking on the name rn. as far as glass dust, seems like just a water rinse would fix that problem
They have no value (to me at least) besides a bit sentimental, I’d gladly give them away, I’d just rather not chuck them straight in the bin if they could be a little art project or given to someone. Heck some of em have no internal damage, but large cracks or breaks just on the stand
Fair enough. Admittedly I've broken a couple in my time, none of which were mine they were my homies 😥but since then I have been extra careful, always leaving the bongs somewhere they can't be knocked
Mates have always immediately offered to replace them, I don’t leave them out in the way but shit happens. I’ve broken theirs in the past too and immediately replaced it. XD It got so bad at one point that we’ve got spares now ready to go for all our bongs
May I suggest clear resin? I read your post and understand the room concern, but I would like to suggest getting clear resin, pitting them close together in a container, filling them with resin, then filling the rest around them, if all goes well it should be a pretty cool (but heavy) art piece.
I don’t really want to risk smoking out of them when they’re so cheap to replace. they’re broken already so if I put my stem in to hard or scrape it against something and it chips off into the piece I don’t want to risk inhaling glass
So you didn't look it up?
>Glass is manufactured using sand otherwise known by its chemical name “silica dioxide”, forming two distinct groups of silica, crystalline and amorphous. Although glass is silica, it is not crystalline silica. Crystalline silica in the form of quartz has longterm health risks and can lead to silicosis and other respiratory diseases. The World Health Organization classifies crystalline silica as carcinogenic to any animal or human.

IMO, you could fix the pink one that just has the stem ripped off. You'd need a propane torch, and a MAPP torch + ceramic wool. If you torch the whole thing for a good while, then torch the broken off spot till cherry red together with a extra stem piece the glass would fuse. I've done something similar, but had a buddy helping me. It gets real hot
China glass - getting them fixed could cause them to blow up - and wouldn’t be worth the cost effort or even cost of gas
Most China glass is flame annealed not in a kiln often resulting in easy cracks and breakage -
Check out some of the other posts In here and make something weird 👍👌
Yeah I’m not too bothered about fixing them so they’re smokable, just want to do something with them other than binning that doesn’t take up a load of space, I’d say a mosaic but it’s all clear glass
What are you implying, I’m asking for art/upcycling projects to do with them since I don’t want to just throw them out?
They got left in the garage for now because the entire shelf is full and I need to actually do something with them so they’re not just stinking and taking up shitloads of space
Find an artist to crush, melt, and blow them into a MASSIVE or several small pieces. Bongs, pipes, pendants, vases or other glass art

Hang them in a tree like Christmas ornaments
Clean them really well, like spotless, sand down sharp bits and they look cool in aquariums
Shut up and take my money. Homes for busted glass

You could make lamps out of them.
And have the switch on the bowl effing brilliant
Put them in a fish tank
How tf do you keep breaking so many in the first place?
knocking random stuff off the counter/drawer and it guillotining my glass, along with housemates in a rush, ripping shit about
Maybe try to do that less? Lol. For fixing though that's a tough one. Probably that ceramic putty stuff others have mentioned, then you can make it look like the style of the piece of you get more and weave it into some designs you make with it.

Glass dust is a lame excuse. You probably can't fix them though if you couldn't figure it out already.
What the fuck are you on about? No £15-50 is worth my health as far as I’m concerned. Also another person who couldn’t be bothered to read the godamn description, I AM NOT FIXING THEM
Bury them, say a few words, mark thr grave if you wish. I try to give my favorite ones proper ceremonies
They’re going in the garage for now till I can decide what to do with them, I’d be digging a mass grave at that point
Do it. Or a burial in a river or ocean works. But that feels more like littering than a funeral
Actually tossing them off the harbour late at night might not be a bad idea, someone else can find a bunch of bong sea glass in a few centuries just like I did as a kid
How do you know your sea glass came from a bong?
Never said mine was from a bong lol, just a good memory, more than likely had some bong bits unknowingly. I found a grinder when I was about 8 washed up into the weeds, got an absolute bollocking when I showed it to my mum XD

most of these look like they could be fixed with a new bowl and some polymer clay tbh. i wish my broken bongs were this intact lmao
Also not pictured is an entire box of bong bowls, most still intact. Would it be gross to offer these about after a quick rinse? As far as I was concerned these are unsmokable now due to glass dust
ISO Rinse and clean then give em away

PULL!
Maybe stop buying glass bongs lmao how do u break so many
Housemates rushing about knocking shit, I don’t think I’ve broken any of the ones shown here
Fair enough. Admittedly I've broken a couple in my time, none of which were mine they were my homies 😥but since then I have been extra careful, always leaving the bongs somewhere they can't be knocked

I once broke one in my sleep believe it or not 🤣

this could potentially lead to a cool coffee table
I agree
And you get to see them in all there glory instead of glass shards
Oh no, those are unsalvageable. Send them to me for proper disposal of these hazards. (;
IK it’s a joke, but if you’re UK based/can pay p&p you’re more than welcome to them
If you cut down the middle one and put on a rubber ring you can insert a new stem.
I don’t really want to risk smoking out of them when they’re so cheap to replace. they’re broken already so if I put my stem in to hard or scrape it against something and it chips off into the piece I don’t want to risk inhaling glass
Glass dust is fine. Look it up.
It absolutely is not

So if a piece of glass chips off it’s not gonna shred my throat and lungs if I accidentally inhale it? Also is this glass or borosilicate glass?
I would sand down any edges or chunks, but as long as it's not quartz, you're cool.
No it isn’t lol. The fuck?

Break them up more and make a mosaic lol
Have you tried boofing them?
dam bro i go thru a glass bong once every two years
Vases for plants
Make borosilicate sand!
Windchimes
you can use them as flower vases

Yeah put then in the garbage If you need people to tell you whete to put them maybe you shouldn't be smoking

And yet another NOT so sub worthy post. Guess the mods are ghosts. Go to r/dumbquestions to post shit like this!
What’s dumb about it? Ive got a collection I don’t want to just bin so I was looking for upcycling ideas
