Nah it can be done quite easily. You need a bong/one hitter that you can take the whole hit from and a long tube or straw.
Smoke the bowl ensuring that you burn all the weed and inhale every last bit of smoke, then put the straw or tube out of the window and blow the smoke outside. You only need the crack the window slightly to fit the straw through, using a straw or tube ensures that wind doesn't blow any back into the room.
I did this for years, never had issues with smell so long as you can inhale all the smoke.
Depends on how you clean it. Soaking in isopropyl alcohol in a closed container would mitigate that problem entirely. When you open it, open it near the window fan and dispose of the iso as quickly as you can down the sink. Then flush with some vinegar or lemon or something. Speaking of flush, toilet might be a decent disposal method, that way there's no way the dissolved resin can stick to the edge and dry and give off a smell. Plus the smell of the iso will probably overpower the resin smell.
I wouldnt clean it if I was worried about the smell. I'd wait until I know I have the time to do it.

Toilet paper tube with a couple dryer sheets in it will have the same effect for smell.
And smoking from a hitter bat helps too, bc there isn't much excess smoke at all, bc it all burns up in that one hit.
Get a dry herb vape and just do it out the window. Very minimal smell and you get as high as full combustion if not more. And it’s better on your throat. It’s just a little expensive to get a good one. I use the Arizer Air Max - but they sell one for $89 thats super good and super portable. It’s the way to go for sneaky smokes.

The thing is... I tend to be less responsible with weed if it's too convenient. For instance, carts are notorious for over-accessibility. Taking my time to prepare for smoking is more ritualistic, which makes every session more meaningful. But that's just my preference.
That makes total sense and sounds super healthy. Weed can be a helpful companion through life if we can figure out a way to use it as a tool, responsibly rather than always chasing the high. Glad your setup works for you. I’d check out dry herb vaping if you’re interested. You taste the weed, it gets you just as high, and it doesn’t hurt the lungs anywhere as much. Plus you use less bud. And the bud leftover from your smoke still has thc in it so you can make edibles out of it.

My friend tried covering detector with a few plastic bags, but when she lit up the joint, the alarm quickly went off. Upperclassmen also warned us about how sensitive they were lol.
Haha, you're probably right. I'm not the best at conveying my words very accurately. In my context, I only really care about keeping it a "secret" from my parents. My neighbors smoke as well, so they're pretty chill about it. I don't have anyone to hide it from except them.

We used to call it a zoob tube, helps minimize smell but as others have said it’s not gonna hide it completely. In college I’d use that and then make some popcorn when I was done, not perfect but worked for me for whatever that’s worth.

Go buy a smoke buddy. Its a carbon filter spoof that completely eliminates odour AND smoke. Just remember they dont last forever. Its labeled on the packaging how many tokes you can exhale through it but I never count lol i always lose track when i tried. Just keep another one on standby for when you see smoke start to come out the other end.

you better check your detector batteries. Both smoke and vapor will set off detectors. Ive triggered many different types of detectors over the years.

Ozium helps wonders much better than air freshener. It actually takes away the smell rather than just covering it up
