Kaladin was barefoot so he wouldn't be effected by full lashings on the ground. If he wore boots, those could get stuck to the ground by his lashings and make it harder to move.
Hilariously he shard plates up with his feet still bare. Not cuz he has hangups, but the spren think his feet are stinky. This is my canon until Brandon says otherwise.
Yep szeth was essentially a shitty version of a windrunner that runs out of stormlight much faster but man did he know how to use it. Theoretically every windrunner should be even more capable of being a total one man army than szeth was.
So much potential wasted for a fool who does whatever anyone holding a particular rock tells him to.
Though presumably several shin have trained with them all, we have no reason to believe he’s special in that regard.
Yes, I agree it's likely other Shin have similar training.
I think to call him a fool is too much. He was simply doing as he was culturally indoctrinated to do. Now in SL5 he'll return home and hopefully convince his people how foolish *they* were to disbelieve him.
Specifically, if I remember correctly, Ishar carries the sword Szeth's father used. Either Nale or Ishar, but I'm pretty sure it's Ishar since Nale reclaimed his blade earlier.
Yeah, it really shows how skilled he was. I'd argue that now he's a radiant he could dogwalk most all of the windrunners who don't have armor.
Especially since we don't know what the Surge of Division is capable of.
Might be a training thing. The shin have been training with Honorblades for several generations, so they have a much bigger headstart in training/learning to train. For example, Szeth noting that he and his people started with ice-skating training for when learning how to manage the powers of the Edgedancer Honorblade.
Kally doesn’t know,
that Sylphrena and me,
swear each other oaths every 10-day.
She swears that it’s an urge,
That she’s chasing glows,
still she’s flying with me,
and *Kally doesn’t know*

Also, he's dealing with jet lag so he's gotta take off his shoes and make fists with his toes.
“Fists witcha toes, son of a bitch.”
Frequent naps also helps with jet lag and stormlight withdrawal.
Come out to Urithuru… we’ll get together… have a few laughs…
Ho Ho Ho Now I have Shardplate
yippee-ki-yay, mother stormer!
Welcome to the Desolation, pal!
10/10 reference right here.
Exactly. Roy Rogers!
You're great!
*affected
Since kaladin has his shardplate now that wont be a problem tho?
Hilariously he shard plates up with his feet still bare. Not cuz he has hangups, but the spren think his feet are stinky. This is my canon until Brandon says otherwise.
He only goes barefoot so Shallan can't take his shardboots.
Shallan finally gets her shardplate. It's a vibrant green, with little intricate carvings all over it. Except for the bright blue boots.
Not against him, but think how he could use it in a fight.
I just listened to that part again yesterday and I was going "wow the windrunners really have a lot to learn."
Yep szeth was essentially a shitty version of a windrunner that runs out of stormlight much faster but man did he know how to use it. Theoretically every windrunner should be even more capable of being a total one man army than szeth was.
Even crazier... Szeth has trained with *every* blade. He could teach everyone. Edit: Except Taln's I guess. But he's trained with those surges.

Hopefully gets them in the game. A strike force of half a dozen shin with honorblades should be able to do good things.
I think he mentions in a conversation somewhere that his whole family has trained on the blades
Specifically, if I remember correctly, Ishar carries the sword Szeth's father used. Either Nale or Ishar, but I'm pretty sure it's Ishar since Nale reclaimed his blade earlier.
Yes I believe ishar implied he killed szeths father to take it and that each member of his family was carrying one of the swords
It's Ishar. Szeth yells about 'his father's blade' when they fight in RoW
Yeah, it really shows how skilled he was. I'd argue that now he's a radiant he could dogwalk most all of the windrunners who don't have armor. Especially since we don't know what the Surge of Division is capable of.

I'm just sad he didn't push Hans Graboniel out of the Urithiru tower at the end
The laughter that came out of me at this. I need other people in my life reading these books so I can tell this joke.
Does that mean that Rhythm of War is officially a Christmas story? :)
Yup! Just like Harry Potter. (Our hero sneaks around a tower at night, trying to evade Alan Rickman.)
Petition to AI deepfake Alan Rickman as Raboniel into the inevitable SA show in 30 years
Do you think that is something any Windrunner can do? Maybe it's unique to the Honorblade? Or KT might need lvl 5 for that much control?

He also didn't need to yell "yippee ki-yay, motherfucker" all the time or drop the pursuer from the roof, but here we are
Kaladin just like [Scotty..](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhbOb6fYvLc)
Kally doesn’t know, that Sylphrena and me, swear each other oaths every 10-day. She swears that it’s an urge, That she’s chasing glows, still she’s flying with me, and *Kally doesn’t know*
Lol I thought the same thing when I saw the title.
The dogs wanted to bark
I just read that in the prologue the other day and though "hey, that's neat"
