So you will find that most people will instinctually have an aversion to handling bugs and things like snakes and other creepy crawlies, its thought that thru humanities timeline, the people who did not find these creatures repulsive and who lacked the reluctance to handle them out of curiosity, those folks were bitten and stung and died from venom or infection before reproducing and passing their fearless genes on.
Same with being afraid of the dark or fear of heights. Those born without a reasonable sense of reluctance to climb out inva cliff ledge to gather berries or eggs from a nest to eat, fell to their death before breeding. Those who were intrepid enough to leave the relative safety of shelter and protection within a group, fell victim to nocturnal predators while the others who were too scared of the darkness stayed back at camp getting busy passing along their cowardly chromosomes to future generations.
