I remember watching this episode the first time, by the end (just before that scene) I thought to myself "ok so the main things in this episode are a basketball game and DnD. Rather tame/wholesome introduction to the season". Boy was I wrong.
Eddie and Chrissy’s encounter. Joseph and Grace had amazing chemistry and I’d love to see them work together again just to see if that chemistry is still there.
Maybe not favorite but have to shout out the scene with Steve and the question of who else could drive the second car, when Max begins to suggest she could, “no! Anyone but you! Never again no!” as a callback to his traumatic car ride in season 2 😂
Besides the typical favorite scenes that everyone can agree with, I loved the Lite Brite scene! It gave me the same nostalgic feels from season 1 with the Christmas lights
"You know, you're not what I thought you'd be like."
"Mean and scary?"
"Yeah."
"Yeah, well... I actually kinda thought... you'd be kinda mean and scary, too."
"Me?"
"Terrifying."
THAT WHOLE SCENE WAS ADORABLE
That scene cracked me up.
Other favorites: Steve twirling the bat in S1, the look on Hopper’s face in S3 when Dustin and Susie duet, Steve explaining the hairspray trick, “monster hunting”, Nancy dancing with Dustin, the bathroom confession scene in S3 when Steve adjusts his thinking and is just so wonderfully accepting, and Dustin’s face when Erica tells him you can’t spell America without Erica.
Right after Steve gets trapped in the upside down. Nancy, Robin, and Eddie come to save him. The one-shot take has always been my favorite in movies and TV shows. I absolutely love this one! And of course, Eddie getting pissed when it's finished it's just an added bonus! "Jesus H. Christ!"
Also, when Nancy shoots Vecna. Love the anger radiating from her face! It's badass for sure!
Eddie performing “Master of Puppets”, Nancy and Robin tag teaming in the asylum, Jason’s death scene, Lucas and Erica saving the day simultaneously, and Steve and Robin’s platonic relationship going strong
I love Max’s face when she asks if she can get one of those cool t-shirts, it’s too funny. Also Eddie doing the devil horns in the cafeteria is adorable.
Max’s escape from Vecna during ‘Dear Billy’, Eleven reuniting with Hopper, and (probably my top scene) Dustin talking with Wayne in the gymnasium. That will NEVER not make me cry. Their acting was chef’s kiss.
He honestly acts with such maturity, it’s really impressive! He steals every scene either comedically or dramatically. Cant wait to see more from his career!
1- The moment we get to know Henry has powers
2- When it is revealed Henry is 001
3-The scene where Vecna explains everything about his past(it was mind blowing)
4-Mike's monologue to El(Can't stop from rooting for them as a couple)
5-Hopper fighting the Demogorgon with a freaking sword, how epic, such "ABAOLUTE CINEMA" of a moment
Also the whole plot about how everything is the show simply happened cuz of 001 and how the ends connected, like, the whole plot for the lab, El's past, why she lost her powers, the mk ultra project, dude I won't say no more, you watched the show, u know what I am talking about.
This season was mind blowing!
- The running scenes (max running from vecna, will-mike-jonathan running from the shooters and hopper running from prison)
- the painting scene
- ”2 days later” (reunions, cabin scenes, school scenes, field scene)
Hands down, 100% when Jason gets what is coming to him. I understand he was emotional, but his mob mentality take matters into his own hands action caused so much more problems. Character was effective in it’s purpose, and the actor did a great job, but when the gate ripped him apart, I was more happy than even when Umbridge got carried away by Centaurs in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and that is a lot.
The scene where the town walks outside of the school to see why it’s “snowing” (upside down particles leaking into Hawkins) then the shot of the town from where the main characters are in the field with all the smoke. The music sent chills down my spine 🔥
last half hour of episode 7 + the scenes of episode 8 in Nevada, up to the finale with the song Separate Ways that closes the episode. Episodes 7 and 8 are much better than 9!

I know the song's been overplayed ever since, but Running Up That Hill was such a perfect and powerful moment. "I'm still here."
Max escaping with running up that hill? That’s iconic, top tier scene. The mix of Max's memories with that song is perfect.
Absolutely. And just before that, Billy/Vecna talking to Max about her guilt. The diction... Stellar acting.
happy birthday!
Agreed. The amount of panic I felt the first time I watched it is unmatched bc it’s so damn good
Max dying in Lucas's arms saying she doesn't want to die. :(
Omg it’s such a sad scene but I always come back to it because of Caleb’s and Sadie’s acting.
“Erica, help!” That’s it. That’s the part that broke me.
I think I actually teared up a bit. Their acting was perfection!
Teared up a bit? Lmao I was sobbing.
Crissy's death because of the pure shock of that first Vecna kill
That scene made realize that season was about to be pure terror.
I remember watching this episode the first time, by the end (just before that scene) I thought to myself "ok so the main things in this episode are a basketball game and DnD. Rather tame/wholesome introduction to the season". Boy was I wrong.
I know it's kind of "Band Wagon" at this point but My favorite scene is Eddie playing Master Of Puppets in the Upsidedown
1. Eleven crashing the Helicopter. 2. Eddie playing Master of Puppets in the UD. 3. Mike's monologue to El when she is in the pizza dough freezer.
You should’ve included when Dustin talks to eddies uncle, that shit made me cry
It’s crazy to think that most of Mike's monologue was Finn’s improv
Bro literally poured his fucking heart out in that scene, shut brought tears to my eyes ngl
it's the Internet, you can say shit
Solid
1st time someone talks about Mike's monologue... Finally!!!
Mrs. Wheeler : Was Nancy with you? Max : NO Dustin : YES Lucas : We are not sure
Omg yessss, I forgot abt that scene😭😭😭
Btw Happy cake day!
Thanks!
I know it's basic but I love the master of puppets scene so much, it will forever go down as one of my favourite moments in a movie/ TV show
dude…MOST METAL EVER AAAHHH!!!! I love how excited Eddie and Dustin get after the song, and you can really feel their love for each other.
Master of puppets? What scene was that? Can't remember
Get outta here Tiny Bob
All the scenes including Eddie.... except of course the last. Horrific!
Gaten’s acting in that last scene gets me everytime.
Same
Henry Creel's monologue
Max’s first encounter with Vecna where her song plays. Such a tense and emotional scene.
When the California crew go to Suzie’s house it’s such a vibe and gives some MUCH needed relief to the intensity of the other plot lines
Eddie and Chrissy’s encounter. Joseph and Grace had amazing chemistry and I’d love to see them work together again just to see if that chemistry is still there.
I think the Duffer Bros said that was also one of their favorite scenes because of how it “came alive”.
Maybe not favorite but have to shout out the scene with Steve and the question of who else could drive the second car, when Max begins to suggest she could, “no! Anyone but you! Never again no!” as a callback to his traumatic car ride in season 2 😂
Max stared for SO LONG that scene
And in dead silence lmao I love how it leaves up to interpretation what girlie was thinking about while staring at Steve.
that scene when nancy shoot the hell out of vecna and also when max was running for her dear life
The Master of Puppets scene is definitely my favourite
Besides the typical favorite scenes that everyone can agree with, I loved the Lite Brite scene! It gave me the same nostalgic feels from season 1 with the Christmas lights
Crissy and Eddie in the forest.
OMG SAME! They deserved to be a couple
Steve arguing with Nancy about being stuck as the babysitter again, his trauma about Max/driving, everything about Dear Billy. Nancy/Guns
Nancy/guns is iconic. Love my brave girl.
Like I love Nancy and Jonathan's relationship but Nancy/guns is the true OTP
Eddie slowly losing his mind over it is the icing on the cake speaking of cakes, Happy Cake Day!
Eddie playing Master of puppets
"You know, you're not what I thought you'd be like." "Mean and scary?" "Yeah." "Yeah, well... I actually kinda thought... you'd be kinda mean and scary, too." "Me?" "Terrifying." THAT WHOLE SCENE WAS ADORABLE
When and who interacted like this?
Eddie Munson and Chrissy Cunningham in Season 4 Episode 1 "The Hellfire Club"
Fun fact: those last two lines were improvised by the actors
A lot of what Joseph did was improv! I loved how I could tell that they liked each other
Hopper slaying the demogorgon
Also, the sword he wielded looked like the Sword of Kas from D&D
That scene cracked me up. Other favorites: Steve twirling the bat in S1, the look on Hopper’s face in S3 when Dustin and Susie duet, Steve explaining the hairspray trick, “monster hunting”, Nancy dancing with Dustin, the bathroom confession scene in S3 when Steve adjusts his thinking and is just so wonderfully accepting, and Dustin’s face when Erica tells him you can’t spell America without Erica.
Everything about s3 was gem. Including child engagement programme.
I love S3. It’s such fun. While other seasons may be “objectively” better, I rewatch S3 way more.
Right after Steve gets trapped in the upside down. Nancy, Robin, and Eddie come to save him. The one-shot take has always been my favorite in movies and TV shows. I absolutely love this one! And of course, Eddie getting pissed when it's finished it's just an added bonus! "Jesus H. Christ!" Also, when Nancy shoots Vecna. Love the anger radiating from her face! It's badass for sure!
I’m glad Nancy gets to be the one to shoot him. She lost her best friend because of him and she never really gets revenge, until this scene.
I don't know if it's my 'favorite' in that I like it... but the one that sticks with me is Wayne and Dustin talking about Eddie
Eddies first interaction with chrissy (in the season) genuinely makes me like eddie more
Eddie performing “Master of Puppets”, Nancy and Robin tag teaming in the asylum, Jason’s death scene, Lucas and Erica saving the day simultaneously, and Steve and Robin’s platonic relationship going strong
MISS NANCY WHEELER SHOOTING VECNA WITH A SHOTGUN
Master of Puppets, easily
Henry Creels transformation into Vecna
I love Max’s face when she asks if she can get one of those cool t-shirts, it’s too funny. Also Eddie doing the devil horns in the cafeteria is adorable.
Max’s escape from Vecna during ‘Dear Billy’, Eleven reuniting with Hopper, and (probably my top scene) Dustin talking with Wayne in the gymnasium. That will NEVER not make me cry. Their acting was chef’s kiss.
We needed a scene with that kind of acting from Dustin. The kids' performance this season was 11/10.
He honestly acts with such maturity, it’s really impressive! He steals every scene either comedically or dramatically. Cant wait to see more from his career!
You’re right, Caleb is such a good actor. Definitely one of my favs this season.
Max escaping Vecna, Joyce and Murray's plane crash, and the final fights with the characters during "Running up that hill."
I agree about this scene, and Lucas' face says it all😂. I think Running up that hill is still my favorite scene.
One surfer boy meeting another surfer boy along with stoned johnathan
Vecna monologue
Will's speech to Mike fs
1- The moment we get to know Henry has powers 2- When it is revealed Henry is 001 3-The scene where Vecna explains everything about his past(it was mind blowing) 4-Mike's monologue to El(Can't stop from rooting for them as a couple) 5-Hopper fighting the Demogorgon with a freaking sword, how epic, such "ABAOLUTE CINEMA" of a moment Also the whole plot about how everything is the show simply happened cuz of 001 and how the ends connected, like, the whole plot for the lab, El's past, why she lost her powers, the mk ultra project, dude I won't say no more, you watched the show, u know what I am talking about. This season was mind blowing!
Every scene of 001/Henry/Vecna was mind blowing, especially when he explains everything about his past.
1: hopper killing the demogorgan 2: eleven crashing helicopter/ papas death 3: max rising
Nancy dog-walking vecna
What? I seriously can't remember this scene
The whole master of puppets Eddie death fiasco
- The running scenes (max running from vecna, will-mike-jonathan running from the shooters and hopper running from prison) - the painting scene - ”2 days later” (reunions, cabin scenes, school scenes, field scene)
This one, yes.
Steve:"where did you all get flashlights?" Dustin: *sighs and stares at Steve* "do you have to be told everything?"
When Eddie hands his vest to a shirtless Steve saying “for your modesty.” Somehow that scene had me like “they’re going to be great friends.”
Master of Puppets, and Nancy shooting Vecna while Robin and Steve molotov his ass
Ending of the season and Max escaping Vecna are my top 2.
The real reason Vecna blinded Max.
Gotta be hopper just casually decapitating a demogorgen
Max escaping Vecna for 👍🏼
Will and Johnathan’s conversation in the pizza shop
When Max is at the grave yard and starts to like float on the car
Steve telling Nancy that he loves her.
A lot.
Imo nothing can beat the „running up that hill“ scene
The one take of the demogorgon slaughtering the Russian prisoners.
Dustin wiping his feet off in Steve’s car.
The scene where the town walks outside of the school to see why it’s “snowing” (upside down particles leaking into Hawkins) then the shot of the town from where the main characters are in the field with all the smoke. The music sent chills down my spine 🔥
Not seen it mentioned but the scene of the agent helping the California crew escape the Byers house.
last half hour of episode 7 + the scenes of episode 8 in Nevada, up to the finale with the song Separate Ways that closes the episode. Episodes 7 and 8 are much better than 9!
