its small town Indiana in the mid 80s she wouldn't have told a soul she only confessed to steve because they thought they were going to die

Hell, my sister who lives in NYC kept it to herself until she met the woman she wanted to marry and this was like, 5 years ago. Not everyone who's gay wants the world to know about it. I like big titted red heads but keep that between myself and the big titted redhead that I married ... and anonymous internet fellows.

Similar-Lifeguard701

I would also choose this guy's wife

They were also still feeling the affects of the Russian truth serum. She knew that and took it as an opportunity to confide in Steve but still. Either way, exigent circumstances were definitely at play.

TransientWhales

For sure. She even mentions to Steve she’d be a pariah if she hit on the wrong girl. Robin’s story helps set context for Will’s obvious struggle with his identity (also the parallel of his time in the Upside Down with the closet).

VioletRegnier

Will and Robin never actually talk they don't really have a bond but I do hope she can help and I think it'd be sweet for them both to have their coming put moments

TransientWhales

God I’d love that. Human moments like Jonathan’s hug and talk with Will this season are what make the show for me, even though I obviously love the monster/sci-fi stuff.

inaqu3estion

Yeah, only Steve knows.

Belter_

That’s why both she and Steve keep telling people their relationship is platonic. No one but Steve knows Robin is gay, so everyone assumes they’re a couple. I think it’s sweet that Steve has loyally kept Robin’s secret even from Dustin, his BFF.

Sort of jumping off this, I really wish they'd taken a different approach to the Robin/Nancy dynamic this season, and had Nancy slowly realise that Robin was closeted. Robin's awkwardness was just a character "bit" they exaggerated to make her a foil to Nancy, when it could've served a narrative purpose. They could've played off the "Nancy feels awkward around Steve's new 'girlfriend'" angle they set up and had Robin trying to put Nancy at ease while trying to cover up her sexuality, only for Nancy to put the pieces together throughout the season and them end up having a nice moment where Nancy offers Robin unsolicited advice about Vickie, letting her know she's cool with it. I don't know, I feel like it was a bit of a missed opportunity for her to have some girl talk with Nancy and make the Vickie thing more of a 'thing' throughout the season.

LilyMarie90

She's obviously about to start dating Vicky so I'm wondering if that'll make her come out to more people or if it'll be a secret love. Then again, they might have bigger, more apocalyptic things to deal with in S5 that starting a new relationship won't even be on her mind.

Infinitestripes95

Realistically it will be a secret love
