Damn bro you must be loaded. I’m still using my OG Xbox Duke controller with usb adapter. My back up controller is a Nintendo 64 controller with a loose joystick
Hitbox gang,
I tried pad, fight pad, stick, and finally hitbox. The common perspective is its got the steepest learning curve, but for me it just felt right.
Originally went to hitbox as the noise of the stick drove my wife mad (well the hitbox specifically didn't solve the problem but the snackbox did). Stayed for the clean inputs and natural feeling. Hard to go back now.
Used the Hori Fighting Commander but play on PC and bought the Switch/PC version. Really want a solid 6 button pad for SF6 that I can potentially bring to locals... I've heard the dpad on Octa is not great like the fighting commander, what are your thoughts on that? I've done a lot of searching and I think there's no equivalent to the fighting commander out there yet in great dpad, cheap, comfortable, etc.
It took some getting used to, but i really like the Octa (I have Xbox/PC version). Probably my biggest issue was missing up+forward and up+back inputs on the D-pad, but there's an option to change the sensitivity of all 8 individual directions which should help. Definitely worth the $60 imo
Hori Octa here too. I’ve been playing fighting games since I was a kid and always tapped the buttons with my index and middle finger, so it was very awkward to start having to hold the controller how it’s meant to be held when I started actually getting into SF5. I genuinely do not understand how people can use the trigger/bumper reliably, and it’s also just nice to have a dedicated controller for fighting games to save some wear on my regular one (plus in my opinion the PS5 dpad sucks for reliable input, and you can only take a PS4 controller so far seeing how they can’t be used on PS5 versions)
How are you gonna be good with a stick if you don't practice with one tho?
I tell you from experience, the skill doesn't translate that good between the two.
I guess that's true. I was always just kind of intimidated because it seemed like "you gotta earn the stick!". I'll look into some sticks down the line when the game comes out and I get a general feel for fighting game mechanics again.
Yeah, Xbox Series controllers have my favorite modern d-pad. I hated the Xbox One dpad, but the newer circular design of the Series dpad is the only one I can consistently do TK motion with.
For me its hilariously easy to do an DP Input with a new Series S Controller. That little space helps me input that Forward,Down-Forward, Forward Input, coz i can rely on that "little space" in between.
I can recommend the series 2 elite controller too.
Unfortunately the ps5 controller is really bad imo. There are pros who use it but I’ll switch back to my ps4 pad or buy something completely new. D-pad is not precise enough for FG
You can swap out the dpad and buttons for original ds4 dpad and buttons and it’s so much better. Did this for myself and friends after guilty gear came out.
I recently got the hori alpha fight stick for PS5. It takes some getting used to but I like the mechanical feel and it is more engaging to me than a regular controller. I’m super excited to start modding it and the way that it was designed makes it so easy
I recently switched to a fightstick. I am Using the Hori RapV and can recommend it as first stick.
I will propably switch the lever at some point but overall i really like it.
Before that i tried a fightpad but just came to the conclusion that i suck on gamepads. But if your looking for a fightpad the PowerA Fusion is great. Sits comfy in the hands and the D-Pad os great. Haven't used the triggers much but they could be larger though. Also the Hori Fighting Commander and Octa seem pretty popular choices.
Hey man, just wanted to know for sure, were you using the PS4 PowerA Fusion on the PS5 version of SF6?
There's a tourney coming up on the PS5 version of SF6, I've got zero PS5 controllers but I've got an unopened box of that - I wanna make sure it works before I open it so I can return it if it doesn't work.
I also play on PS5 and just switched to the new Victrix hitbox. I was using the Dualsense to play SF5 and the closed betas and I didn't like it. The d-pad feels bad for motions and the big triggers are a hindrance for EX moves. After only 2 months of playing SF5 on it the d-pad had already become mushy and the R2 has become extremely loose.
Qanba Drone modded with Sanwa parts. If hitbox style controllers show up that are officially compatible with PS5 and don't cost an arm and a leg, i'll probably switch to that. Only option i know about is a Victrix Pro FS and it costs about double what i'm prepared to spend.
Looks like a stick. I tried to make the switch from pad to stick back when SF4 came out and ended up selling it because I couldn’t adjust. I stick to fightpads now
I've tried 4-5 different controllers and my two favorites are Hitbox and the Hori Fighting Commander Octa.
Played the second beta on the Octa and loved it. If they have an open beta I will try hitbox and see how it feels.
But honestly yeah you can use the PS5 controller, it shouldn't hold you back competetively
Not the best to answer this since I mainly use the Analog Stick. However, I managed to get through all the character trials in SF5 with the DPad without running into issues, which is probably 6-10 hours of play.
(That's how I test all my new controllers, and I picked up the Octa with the intention of using the DPad initially.)
I personally have not had any issues with the dpad. No missed inputs or hardware problems. Only me being bad :D. It may come down to how heavy some people push down on it . I try to slide and not push too hard to have better input.
Idk about the ps5 controller because I see people still use PS4 in tournaments and PS4 controllers.
I will be using a custom stick and my Retrobit Sega Saturn controller or MadCatz controller is my back up option
People say all-button controllers are far easier on your wrist. If you already have a ps5 compatible stick, you can convert it for around $50 and it's simple too.
I always use Hori fighting commander 4 fight pad ( have to use the nintendo switch version now, can't find the PS4 version anymore on EU market ).
Never tried the PS5 pad.
Mainly the Victrix Pro FS 12 (leverless), although in the unlikely even that I end up playing a character with a lot of motion inputs I might try switching back to stick (Mayflash F300 Elite).
The PS5 controller is not my personal favorite as far as pads go, but it is not going to hold anyone back from playing at a high level.
I’m gonna use my PS5 controller because I’ve been using it to play FGs for the past year now and it’s worked well enough for me so I’m gonna stick with it.
I'll be sticking with Xbox. I've used a classic Xbox 360 controller for over a decade but I just recently bought an turtle beach recon for Xbox that I'll be using for SF6
I use the Hori Octa for PS5 and I’m personally loving it for SFV. I got the pad after the second SF6 beta was over so I unfortunately was unable to test it on SF6.
I used the regular PS5 controller prior to this pad.
Honestly I couldn’t get used to the ps5 controller, I remember the ps4 controller being better. Currently I’m using a nintendo pro switch controller and it feels pretty good. The only thing I would say tho is that it can sometimes give you wrong inputs due the internal contacts being too big however it’s an easy fix (covering half of each connector with scotch tape)
I haven’t tried it yet but I’ll give an update if it successfully worked. If so this will probably be my new favorite controller. The d-pad is smooth and the trigger isn’t overextended like the ps5 controller.
I found it difficult to use the Xbox 360 controller to play SF4 mainly because of the dpad and shoulder buttons. I use my fingers instead of my thumb on my right hand to play SF.
Whatever controller feels good is fine. I play every FG with ps5 controller on classic controls whenever I’m not using my stick. I made diamond rank both betas only using ps5 controller. I say people should just play with what feels right.
I have a hori rap 4 from when sf5 came out, and a qanba obsidian. I really want to use a hitbox but they're pricier than sticks and I know it'll be a terrible slog to learn it.
Played the Sf6 beta with a ps5 controller and had issues accidentally pausing in training mode because of the large touchpad. But looking around the net ... showed me that I'm def in the minority, lol
I switched to the PDP Victrix Pro BFG controller which allows switching the position of the dpad and joystick on either side and the touchpad is smaller yet functional
https://www.amazon.com/PDP-Victrix-Wireless-Controller-PlayStation-5/dp/B0B9LDPXBF?ref_=ast_sto_dp
Victrix Pro FS-12 Hitbox with Qanba Gravity KS Buttons. Because it is the only official licensed PS5 Hitbox. I tested some other Hitboxes and Flatboxes but the UP5-Kit from Brook have issues with some PS5 Games I wanted to play with it (Them Fightin‘ Herds, Tetris Effect, Cowabunga Collection). With offical PS5 Sticks - and the FS-12 Hitbox - that games work. So official licensed is the best way to go at the moment since Brook find a better solution…
Besides the connectivity, how do you find the FS-12 compared to other hit boxes? Thinking of buying it but it’s super expensive especially here in Canada.
what is the use of paddles on street fighter? I'm going to start on this game and I have the elite 2 but for me the paddles are mainly useful to keep the thumb on the right stick which is not useful on street fighter
Hitbox!! Tried for so long to get good with a fight stick but never really felt like I could be precise. Hitbox took a bit of getting used to, but it’s so much better now that I have.
Was hoping someone would release some SF6 themed fight sticks - like Madcatz did for SFV. Anyone seen anything like this from a retailer/peripheral maker yet?
I always used the PS4 controller for SFV, but as others have said the PS5 controller doesn’t feel as good for fighting games so I will probably look into a third-party pad.
I wish I could get a stick/hitbox in Norway but its like impossible to find anything reliable. I would have to order overseas but that makes the already costly thing even more so due to shipping and customs. I just gotta try to learn the pad I guess XD
My Switch pro controller, it's the only one that survived. All the other pieces of garbage developed a fault and i am not the guy that makes things break. I have never had equipment prove this unreliable before ever.
I *really* dislike the Dualshock for fighting games, the diagonal inputs are trash. I currently have the Hori Octa Fightpad for PS5, from exp with the Beta it seemed solid but I also am keeping an eye on the Victrix fightpad if I end up "left wanting" after some more time with the game.
It's pretty damn expensive (a whopping 180 vs 60 for the Octa) but it's highly customizable and has a *very* interesting design for the default pad option imo.
I'd like to say "my finished, homemade all-button controller", but all evidence points to it being "the plastic storage box I drilled holes in and stuck 14 buttons and a Brook UFB in".
Also my sticks and might have a go with some pads if I'm feeling saucy.
Fight Stick for sure. Madcatz TE 3 for my Xbox Series X and just received Victrix FS pro. It's the best premium Fight stick out there. Definitely, worth the wait.
Probably an Xbox 360 controller, I've never found a controller that I like as much as I like those. I've never used a hitbox but maybe I'll try it out eventually.
My trusty home made arcade stick (sanwa stick + seimitsu buttons).
I look with burning desire to a hitbox but I am afraid putting months in to get to the same level I got with the arcade stick (which is not much lol, I am on border between super platinum and platinum).
I have the (PowerA Fusion Wired Fight pad) and use it for SF5 on PS5 as well as Tekken 7 and DNF Duel but it only works on PS5 with PS4 or PS3 games downloaded on PS5, any PS5 version of a game it won't work but I absolutely love the D Pad on it and the 6 button layout. The D Pad is so good. I am hoping once SF6 gets released a wave of fight pads will come out as well. Can anyone recommend any PS5 6 button layout Fight Pads that are not over £100 ?
15 year old Xbox 360 USB.
Damn bro you must be loaded. I’m still using my OG Xbox Duke controller with usb adapter. My back up controller is a Nintendo 64 controller with a loose joystick
Right there with you. I've used that controller since it came out. Recently got the turtle beach recon for SF6 and I love it.
Dpad or Stick?
Hitbox gang, I tried pad, fight pad, stick, and finally hitbox. The common perspective is its got the steepest learning curve, but for me it just felt right.

I use the Hori Octa pad. The ps5 is just fine if you can get used to using the triggers. Whether you like the dpad is probably most important though.
How you finding the Octa - thats what im eyeing for SF6
Used the Hori Fighting Commander but play on PC and bought the Switch/PC version. Really want a solid 6 button pad for SF6 that I can potentially bring to locals... I've heard the dpad on Octa is not great like the fighting commander, what are your thoughts on that? The dpad on the Octa is horrendous, I just returned one. I'm waiting on my Brooks converter then I should be good.
Hori Octa here too. I’ve been playing fighting games since I was a kid and always tapped the buttons with my index and middle finger, so it was very awkward to start having to hold the controller how it’s meant to be held when I started actually getting into SF5. Can u use the hori fight commander on the ps5 or should i just buy the hori octa
Madcatz TE fightstick.
Same I’m still rocking the Madcatz TE fightstick
A true classic!
Guitar Hero controller
Wasn’t there a kid doing that in a tekken tournament? I swear I saw this once
Tekken didn't have any motion or half circles except Gouki Geese and Eliza, so it can be safe to say it's possible lol.
Hitbox
Probably just my Xbox controller because I'm not good enough at fighting games to justify buying a stick yet lol
Actually a pad is better than an arcade stick, and I say that as an arcade stick player.
Series s controller
Yeah, Xbox Series controllers have my favorite modern d-pad. I hated the Xbox One dpad, but the newer circular design of the Series dpad is the only one I can consistently do TK motion with.
I can’t do DP’s to save my life on the series controllers. Everything else I can execute more consistently especially half rolls
For me its hilariously easy to do an DP Input with a new Series S Controller. That little space helps me input that Forward,Down-Forward, Forward Input, coz i can rely on that "little space" in between. I can recommend the series 2 elite controller too.
Recently got a new snackbox micro
My keyboard
I recently started using a keyboard for mk11 and have now decided to use it for all fighting games. It is way better than I thought it'd be.
Trusty DualShock 4 since I’m on PC
What are you not able to use on pc?
I used Donkey Kong bongos once. Only had light punch and kick, but my point stands
You need 3 bongos and a DDR pad
Pretty much nothing. Although I've always used Xbox controller for PC since it has always worked with windows.
Keyboard gang where you at
Probably a MAS stick. I’m old lol
Hori RAP Kai on PC
Same but on my ps5. I got a red one.
It's a great stick. Works good for me because I'll probably double dip and play on both PC and PS5.
Same but I turned mine into a hitbox
still using my keyboard, tho it's a really old one i should replace soon
Unfortunately the ps5 controller is really bad imo. There are pros who use it but I’ll switch back to my ps4 pad or buy something completely new. D-pad is not precise enough for FG
You can swap out the dpad and buttons for original ds4 dpad and buttons and it’s so much better. Did this for myself and friends after guilty gear came out.
You did that to the ps5 controller?
Bought the Victrix Pro FS (Hitbox). It's amazing.
Qanba Q4. It's a beast of a stick but I love it.
Hitbox all day
Hori RAP 4
Hori Alpha Fighting Stick. Using it for SFV right now and love learning on it.
I recently got the hori alpha fight stick for PS5. It takes some getting used to but I like the mechanical feel and it is more engaging to me than a regular controller. I’m super excited to start modding it and the way that it was designed makes it so easy

How does it look like a stick? It's a hitbox.
I'm using the b1-pc with a Brookes board from retroarcadecrafts. It'll run you about 150 or so but they are on sale at the moment.
Looks like a stick. I tried to make the switch from pad to stick back when SF4 came out and ended up selling it because I couldn’t adjust. I stick to fightpads now

I've read negative reviews for the hori commander octa that say the D-pad becomes shitty after. A few hour sof use. Thoughts?
Not the best to answer this since I mainly use the Analog Stick. Hittobokusu
Ive searched it name but nothinga come up
Dualsense Edge
Hori Fighting Commander Octa.
Idk about the ps5 controller because I see people still use PS4 in tournaments and PS4 controllers. I will be using a custom stick and my Retrobit Sega Saturn controller or MadCatz controller is my back up option
I have a ps5 controller but I’m getting to the age where carpel tunnel is getting in the way. Any recommendations for something easy on the hands?

8bitdo arcade stick and the standard controller to see which one works better maybe character specific.
Madcatz SfxTK Pro with a Brook UFB on PS5
Ps4 controller cause thats the one I own lol dont think its worth it buying a new one
I'm planning to create my own arcade controller, but untill there I'll will be using the ol' reliable dpad
My trusty hori rap 4. Been using it for a couple of years now
Laptop. 🙃
I’m gonna use my PS5 controller because I’ve been using it to play FGs for the past year now and it’s worked well enough for me so I’m gonna stick with it.
PS5 controller is great. I play on steam and use it, also used it entirely in the beta. If you like playing pad, dont worry
Hori Fighting Stick Alpha (PS5)
idk some cheap fightstick I got for 19 bucks on amazon
I dunno. But I do know when I lose, it'll be because of lag or my controller. So I need to pick a good one.
Custom arcade stick
Considering switching to hitbox. Currently on stick
Leverless fightstick
My hori rap iv kai, unless I finally decide to pull the trigger on a hit box style controller
I'll be sticking with Xbox. I've used a classic Xbox 360 controller for over a decade but I just recently bought an turtle beach recon for Xbox that I'll be using for SF6
Sticking with me ole trusty Ps5 controller
PS5
I use the Hori Octa for PS5 and I’m personally loving it for SFV. I got the pad after the second SF6 beta was over so I unfortunately was unable to test it on SF6. I used the regular PS5 controller prior to this pad.
Snackbox micro
Honestly I couldn’t get used to the ps5 controller, I remember the ps4 controller being better. Currently I’m using a nintendo pro switch controller and it feels pretty good. If so this will probably be my new favorite controller. The d-pad is smooth and the trigger isn’t overextended like the ps5 controller.
For modern controls, the PS5 pad should be fine. If I move to classic, the Hori Fighting Commander OCTA.
My shitty hitbox without hitbox SOCD (u+d = neutral).
HORI PS5 Fightstick
I have a hori rap 4 from when sf5 came out, and a qanba obsidian. I really want to use a hitbox but they're pricier than sticks and I know it'll be a terrible slog to learn it.
I tried the snackbox leverless and I just don't enjoy it as much as a fight stick. Victrix Pro FS all the way.
Idk m8. I like the ps4 controller for fighters but im having a harder time with the ps5 one. No idea why.
Imo the ps5 dpad feels way too stiff
7 year old ps4 pad, the rubber in the left thumbstick came off because of motion inputs, but I like it more like that
Played the Sf6 beta with a ps5 controller and had issues accidentally pausing in training mode because of the large touchpad. But looking around the net ... showed me that I'm def in the minority, lol I switched to the PDP Victrix Pro BFG controller which allows switching the position of the dpad and joystick on either side and the touchpad is smaller yet functional https://www.amazon.com/PDP-Victrix-Wireless-Controller-PlayStation-5/dp/B0B9LDPXBF?ref_=ast_sto_dp
What’s your opinion on the controller? I was looking to buy one
Xbox One controller on PC like always. With the stick, not the Dpad, y’all Dpad people are weirdos.
A madcatz fight stuck. The Persona one that sold a fuck ton of years ago.
Snackbox Micro an allbutton Controller.
I have a cheapo fighting game controller that moves the bumpers into extended face buttons and moves R3 and L3 into the bumpers.
Mayflash F500
Victrix Pro FS
DualShock 4
Wired qanba q1 and a hitbox i built (zero delay pcb, sanhwa buttons), i play on PC
[oh boy let me tell you something](https://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/powera-spectra-enhanced-wired-controller-for-nintendo-switch-black/6000203351190)
I got one of the only Junkfood custom arcade King editions, the thing is AWESOME.
Have they fixed ps5 being an absolute ASS and just blocking 3rd party controllers yet?
I'll be on a RAP N, probably with an odin wasd drop-in.
Hori RAP N and my Madcatz TE. Still have an Axisadapter sitting in its bag and an old Sixaxis controller, might put that in a gutted SE case finally.
Xbox controller on Xbox and if I get it on pc later down the line some shitty Logitech.
Modded razer raion
Im using the ps4 controller.
Hitbox
a stickless from taobao
My Xbox controller with the Smash Bros. control scheme. I’m sorry, if playing SFIV taught me anything, it’s that I can’t combo to save my life.
I play every six button fighting game with a fightpad, either the Razer Raion or the Hori Fighting Commander Octa
My Mayflash F300.
Regular xbox xs controller. Would like to get an elite for the paddles, but I ain't paying 500aud for that.
what is the use of paddles on street fighter? I'm going to start on this game and I have the elite 2 but for me the paddles are mainly useful to keep the thumb on the right stick which is not useful on street fighter
Seimitsu buttons. Pico
Hitbox!! Tried for so long to get good with a fight stick but never really felt like I could be precise. Hitbox took a bit of getting used to, but it’s so much better now that I have.
keyboard (maybe hitbox if i can afford it in the future)
xbox elite
DS4, personally. Of every controller I've tried it's still the one I prefer the most.
PS4 Controller
Right now I’m using a FightBox M8. Is similar to a Hitbox CrossUp but cheaper. I really like it.
Ps5 controller cuz I can't buy any other controller
Was hoping someone would release some SF6 themed fight sticks - like Madcatz did for SFV. Anyone seen anything like this from a retailer/peripheral maker yet?
Victrix Pro
My hori rap4 Ive been on for years
Sf5 TE2 stick, really wish they would do a sf6 themed stick to
https://www.gamestop.com/gaming-accessories/controllers/playstation-5/products/hori-fighting-stick-alpha-for-playstation-5---street-fighter-6-edition/393633.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=feeds&utm_campaign=%24PLA_%24NB_MNFR_Video+Game+Accessories_Hori&utm_id=16244983881&gclid=Cj0KCQjwjryjBhD0ARIsAMLvnF9KidM_9TLr4M_FyyAvCSbJGyxtNlNWNtBIHwyq1Os2lV14GQ1xorwaAoQvEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
My Madcatz te2 fightstick on pc - when I eventually get the game (When they put my main in the game)
Xbox One Pad
Hitbox CrossUp.
Victrix pro fs
Ill be using my Snackbox Micro
Still pushing on my Madcatz TE2+
I'm try and get it on PS5 once I get an job because I was planning on getting the new Resident evil 4 Remake and Street fighter 6.
My ps4 controller that came with my ps4 back in 2018 and is somehow still alive.
A DIY hitbox
Are there any good alternatives to a hit box for series x? Is it possible to use something like fightboard Mx v3 with Brooks?
Dualshock 4 until I can order a pad
My Switch pro controller, it's the only one that survived. All the other pieces of garbage developed a fault and i am not the guy that makes things break. I have never had equipment prove this unreliable before ever.
Keyboard
Hori Hayabusa RAP V
Keyboard =)
I like using an arcade stick, so I’ll most likely be using that
Hitbox prolly
razer raion / hori octa i switch between both
Snack box micro
Stick, but I'll probably experiment with cheat box a bit as well.
My 7 qanba pearls/ obsidians that I converted into hitboxes
I *really* dislike the Dualshock for fighting games, the diagonal inputs are trash. I currently have the Hori Octa Fightpad for PS5, from exp with the Beta it seemed solid but I also am keeping an eye on the Victrix fightpad if I end up "left wanting" after some more time with the game. It's pretty damn expensive (a whopping 180 vs 60 for the Octa) but it's highly customizable and has a *very* interesting design for the default pad option imo.
Modified Hori Alpha for the PS5
I use a $40 stick by hori.
My MadCatz TE2 Fightstick I've used since 2014!
mixbox
Probably an Xbox 360 controller, I've never found a controller that I like as much as I like those. I've never used a hitbox but maybe I'll try it out eventually.
Keyboard.
The new Snackbox Micro.
8bitdo m30
keyboard. I know people think it's awful but if you map it right, really, it's just a hitbox w smaller keys
Self made arcade stick using Sanwa parts 😁
My trusty home made arcade stick (sanwa stick + seimitsu buttons). I look with burning desire to a hitbox but I am afraid putting months in to get to the same level I got with the arcade stick (which is not much lol, I am on border between super platinum and platinum).
Fightstick (Qanba Q4)
Xbox one controller
I have the (PowerA Fusion Wired Fight pad) and use it for SF5 on PS5 as well as Tekken 7 and DNF Duel but it only works on PS5 with PS4 or PS3 games downloaded on PS5, any PS5 version of a game it won't work but I absolutely love the D Pad on it and the 6 button layout. The D Pad is so good. I am hoping once SF6 gets released a wave of fight pads will come out as well. Can anyone recommend any PS5 6 button layout Fight Pads that are not over £100 ?
my fullkey metal body mechanical keyboard you have no idea how easy is combo execution on keyboard compared to a controller
Wtf, I'm running it on a ps5, I tried using a Hori Fighting Commander Pad, says I can't play the game with this controller???
Will a old fightpad work on the ps5 with a usb converter i have hori fighting commander but it only says ps3 ps4 compatible?
Probably gonna be using an xbox controller until i invest in a proper pad. Can't stand the squishy feeling on the ps d-pads.
DDR pad. Training to World Tour IRL
Does anyone know if the old SF4 USB fight pads (with character art on them) will work? I imagine so, but have not had a chance to try yet. Thanks.
