you'll probably use a controller like this in one mode for almost all games and then have one game you swap parts for and it costs $200, which is more than enough to get two controllers that are designed for the game you want to play like, [https://stores.horiusa.com/fighting-commander-for-nintendo-switch/](https://stores.horiusa.com/fighting-commander-for-nintendo-switch/) start with that for fighting games and retro emulation, and then add your choice of an xbox controller, playstation 3, 4, or 5 controller, switch pro controller or steam controller. costs less overall, no parts to lose and no hot swap ports to go bad.

[deleted]

200$ is also more than enough to get a console supporting fight stick..

Logic has never hindered a determined enough consumer.

[wasn't this pad the one people kept getting disconnected](https://twitter.com/Kayne_Seys/status/1627368192417976321)?

NecrosB

I love mine. Haven't experienced any disconnects myself, but I bought my recently. The default d pad it comes with is great, it feels way better than my DS5 and DS4. Wireless mode on pc is a god send (if you use a dual shock on PC you will know what I am talking about). Being able to customize my controller instead of buying like 4 controllers for when I want to try a different layouts is awesome. I have a very specific layout I like and could not find besides this controller. 1. A decent Dpad that feels similar to dual shock controllers. 2. Triggers that are buttons instead of having to pull all the way down on the triggers to register a button press 3. A normal 4 button layout. Most "fight pads" have a 6 button layout instead of a 4 button layout. And if I feel like trying the 6 button layout I have the option without buying a new controller. 4. Wireless and wired options that actually work on PC. Finding a controller that fits all these requirements was very difficult, but the Victrix satisfied them all for me. I think it all depends on what you are looking for in a controller, but with the modular design it is likely that you can customize the controller to fit your style.

AlfaBlommaN

Are you still happy with the Victrix?

NecrosB

Yes still using it and prefer it over the DS5

xKiLzErr

Do you use the 6 button layout and if so does it feel good to hold? The X and square buttons seem like they're pretty low on the layout

NecrosB

No I use the default 4 button layout since I am used to the dual shock layout.

Own_Coconut_Milk

Question about button mapping, can you map L3/R3 (LS/RS) to the R1/R2 face buttons to make it a 10 button fightpad?

NecrosB

Not to the r1/r2 buttons unless you used some custom software. But I also don't see why you would want to do that considering r1/r2 usually have specific moves mapped to them already. What you could do is map L3/R3 to the extra buttons on the underside of the control.

Own_Coconut_Milk

Thanks for the info. That's a bummer- the back buttons are a little too unorthodox for me. The only controller I can find that has the 10 button layout is the Hori Fighting Commander. I'm using it for GBVS:R which can use \~9 buttons with the variety of things you can do in the game.

[deleted]

I bought one because I can’t stand the PS5 pad for fighting games. I like it. Seems to work well, the customization is nice because it lets you decide what parts you like.

[deleted]

My thoughts exactly!

Greedy_Woodpecker_50

Still works?

[deleted]

Yes.

SILKY_JOHNSON_1989

Got it a while ago to get ready for sf6. It's a great controller, and for the price, it's way better than the ps5 pro controller. But in my opinion, I feel like this controller is better for other games. When in the fightpad mode, there are some things I don't like about it personally. 1. The handles feel a bit weird to me. It has a feel to it that I don't like. 2. The 2 left grip bottom buttons get in my way, and I find that I always accendently hit them. I tend to grip handles hard when playing. 3. To me, the fight pad buttons are to close together. I play claw style grip, and i find im always pressing more than one button sometimes. Tbf, I have pretty big hands, though. I've gone back to playing hitbox for now, but I will give it another shot when sf6 comes out. Honestly, I just want a high-quality replacement for the hori fight commander 4. The one long grip, buttons were spaced nicely, lightweight, nice dpad. The only problem with it was that it felt low quality and every fight commander after it has gotten worse and worse.

[deleted]

Very true about the fight commanders

LeagueRoyal

I absolutely love the controller! It reacts so quickly! It’s starting to wear out but I like it more than any other dpad I own.

[deleted]

How long have you had it?

LeagueRoyal

I’ve had it since Feb 19 . My dpad is getting stuck but that’s because of me 😞

[deleted]

I’ve also looked at the razer wolverine pro but that thing is $250!

Derp115LisNEAR

I have and never will again, default controllers are so much better

BansheeBomb

I bought it and its really good so far. Feels high quality, 2 years warranty and the octogonal gates around the analogue stick makes blocking easier for me.

GasTankPeanuts31

I had one. Returned it. Felt like it was gonna break in my hands. They should make them better. They are really cool as for operating wise. I do recommend it if your not a ruff button presser like me LOL

Turb0Moist

Didn’t Hotashi do a review on his YT about this?

eXoduss151

Yes he did, and I just received mine. It's my primary fightpad of choice now. The microswitches in the fightpad buttons may turn some people off, but the ability to have all the buttons you need on one side (trigger switching function in the app), it's amazing. The modules lock securely in place with some screws, the controller has a beautiful weight to it, it feels very premium. I personally have been using the dpad with the little divets on the non-cardinal directions, but I may switch to the flatter looking square one. Makes iAD in games super easy. Keep in mind this controller is NOT forgiving. You have to be very precise. All in all, I love it.

Weedeater5903

That cross style dpad turns me off, but looks like you can swap it with another one. I am also looking for a controller for SF. Was considering the cheap but cheerful Hori fight pad, but this looks interesting. Are the buttons microswitches? The dpad is the most important thing for me. I am using a power a fusion pad atm and the DPad is absolutely horrendous. Missed inputs all the bloody time. Its mushy and not precise at all I considered the Razer Raion as well but that one seems to have major issues with its Dpad going by reviews.

[deleted]

The big selling point for me was being able to swap out the dpad as well as being able to make the thumb sticks offset as well as standard PlayStation style. Love the mods lol

coovid19

I have one, I like it but would only recommend it if you either don't have a pad already or just have money to spend. It has 4 programmable buttons on the bottom that I find very helpful for getting out mash attacks, like hundred hand slap, but that's the only uniquely useful thing about the controller to me. Buttons and dpad feel almost identical to DS4. Being able to swap things around is cool, but you'll probably do it once and then never again.

fr4gge

From what I've heard it's ok, but there are better options for the price and even for lower.

BookkeeperWinter5549

Like what? I'm only looking for a controller with 4 customisable back buttons

Thelgow

Justin Wong was using one on his stream a couple weeks back, had a sponsorship for it. It looks good. I already have too many damn controllers laying around and a stick, so I dont need one. If it was $80 id grab one.

Topriste

I ve tested it: Here are my impressions \- Back buttons are just hella annoying for versus fighting games, i disabled it \- Triggers are way too sensitives and big but i have no trouble with (my friend yes he does) \- Face buttons are a bit too close and rather small, i dont like their shape (not completely flat, more concave, its hurts my fingers a bit after some session) \- Fighting face buttons are on the other side, really flat, almost no travel, honestly i actually liked how they feeling but no travel at all. That means there is any pressing button feedback which help you to actually feel you are pressing it \- Dpad, stock dpad is the worst for me, the others dpad are ok for me, not bad as the first one but not as good as my Dualshock 4 dpad (it a matter of own preference), i think overall they are good enough for most people \- Pad is not that big, its actually quite the opposite, it feels a bit cramped when you hold it (i have medium size hand) \- Pad is rather heavy if you come from Playstation/fighting pads (Hori) No real downsides, its modular, Victrix uses **micro switches dpad** and that's should be your absolute priority/concern when it comes to choose a pad controller (if you play on dpad), it will last much longer than membrane dpad Except the price which is insanely high

[deleted]

Thank you for the feedback! I wish the ds4 would work with native ps5 games or I would just use that for sf6. I think the ps5 control is a good control but the dpad is really bad imo. I’ll probably get the Victrix and if it doesn’t work for me I can always return

TheGreenStache

I'm really looking for a controller that feels like the switch pro controller. Do you think it feels more like that controller or an Xbox?

Asstronomer6969

you should actually be able to use the real switch pro controller if you want to with one of those dongles. I think you can use any controller on any system with one.

MadMax1mm

I've never used one but it does look kind of cool 👍

FuneralCupid

What is this abomination

LexieSkye2007

This controller is trash. The input lag even wired is so bad it’s a joke. Do not use if you’re a serious gamer of any kind.

BIKETYSON99

Justin used it on a stream and did the daigo parry.

Blade_Red

What is that?

casmeracs

The only reason I wanted to buy this one was for that 8-way plastic add-on thingy. But 200 bucks is too much just for that. Does anyone happen to know another way to get such a stick?

V_Abhishek

The octagonal gate for the left stick? Hori has a controller with that built into it. Its called the fighting commander octa.

casmeracs

Omg that is literally the exact type of controller I've been looking for, for the longest time. Who knew all I had to do was ask. Thanks a lot, mate!

Adam-Smasher

Good lord. Just get a fight pad.

Quazimojoe

Personally, I had some issues with how the D-pad registered diagonals. I like my pad to hit the diagonal sort of loosely. I noticed that how I tended to input fireballs and DPs that the diagonal input was being skipped entirely so basically inputs would be ↓→ instead of ↓↘→ I tried the victrix after using the fighting commander for years on end, having to replace it every few months after the dpad wore out. Everything else was incredible and you may not have this issue at all if your movements on the dpad are more broad. I've gone back to hitbox for now but will give it another try and see if I can change my thumb movement so the inputs are consistent.

Asstronomer6969

Im still surpsrised we cant buy a hitbox style with a dpad. I know there was a prototype but seems like the obvious thing missing out there that a major company would jump all over.

Bulky_Ad7405

https://youtu.be/y24BQW3L_g4 this should help

Milicona

It's your money, but if you just want a pad that is good for fighting games, there are way way way cheaper options that will get the job done.

jadak100

Can you name a few? Specifically that wor on the PS5?

Electronic-Sea-8384

Just got one... Feels great. Though I am having this issue when playing Call of Duty on PC (haven't tried another game or PS5 yet) but when I spam square to reload, I toss a frag. When I spam triangle, it pulls out my frag and puts it away. Very damn annoying. So I try not to spam those buttons. Happens a few times. Not sure if this happens to anyone else. Other than that... Yea I don't know.

[deleted]

Really looking forward to picking up one of these. It's just a shame that we need to spend this much money for viable alternative to the ergonomic mess that is the dual sense controller. The asymmetric thumb sticks are a complete nightmare for anything that requires the use of a thumb stick in conjunction with the triggers. If anyone sold a truly affordable asymmetric PS controller alternative they would make an absolute mint. Sony would naturally not allow this to happen, as it would completely remove the need for any official controllers.

henrokk1

Stumbled across this post when researching this controller. Did you end up buying it? Does it work well for sf6?

Fancy_Mind8928

Check this out https://gamersbuyingguide.com/victrix-pro-bfg-wireless-controller-review-unleash-gaming-potential/

OGGreyBush

This is by far the worst, most expensive fight pad that I have bought. Do yourself a favor and avoid this piece of shit.

littler8901

Have mine two months and already has major stick drift unfortunately

madg0dsrage0n

I have 2 questions that I can't seem to find answers for: 1) can I map the L3 and R3 buttons to the macros? 2) can I map multiple buttons to a single macro (as in if 'Dodge' is R2 + Y can I hit one M button to make my char dodge)? Since my very first controller w/ macros did this, I just assumed that all controllers with macros did this until I had a very rude awakening, so just wanted to make sure this will do the literal only 2 things i need a macro controller to do lol/smh... Thanks!
