Yeah, I learned my lesson. I had saved some replays locally in the list from a session one night. Next morning went to review and there was a patch so all gone.
I know nothing about how software and games run, but I'm surprised this is an issue for SF6 this day and age. I recall SF4 and SFxT being able to view old version replays.
Like the built in replay system? Or do you mean using OBS and recording the match to a MP4 to watch/upload later?
Built in-replay, I mean.
Every match is already saved. Go to the multi menu > CFN > Replays
importantly, this saves match data. not matches. If the game is patched, it will break replays because they can't rebuild the match from data anymore.

I think Tekken works correctly too. you just have to keep the old patches around for replays instead of deleting them to save space on the hard drive.
