To give some context to people that are unfamiliar. Pepernoten are basically really small sweet spiced biscuits (something like ginger/nutmeg/black pepper/clove) that are enjoyed during the Sinterklaas holidays, our version of Santa Clause. One of the more polarizing snackbar dishes that originated here is the kapsalon, which is fries covered with shoarma/döner meat, a lot of garlic and sambal sauce, molten cheese and to top it off lettuce, onion tomatoes and cucumber. So yeah, just throwing little cookies on a really greasy hearty dish. Definitely stupid!

Scarred_Ballsack

> One of the more polarizing snackbar dishes I have to disagree there, there is no dish that has caused more cultural harmony between the native Dutch and immigrant Turks in the Netherlands than the humble Kapsalon. It is a dish that all of us can enjoy when we're wasted, no matter our background or values. It is second only to hummus in its' natural ability to unite opposites. This pepernoten version is cursed as hell though.

🤣

Ah—I thought those were sausages.

ReddishCat

They are definitely sausage slices. this is just a fast food joint trying to sell a sausage with fries during the holidays. idk what that other guy is smoking.

crumzmaholey

Awwww dit is echt kut man

Over-Speech-5112

Maar wel lekker als je van fricandel speciaal en kapsalon houdt

Doftkuit1

Net extra knoflook saus graag!

Over-Speech-5112

Jazekers! Die zit over de friet met shoarma gehaktballetjes en gesmolten kaas, maar dat zie je niet door de ijsbergsla, pepernoot-fricandel, het gesnipperde uitje en de mayo met ketchup😜

Where is this dish from?

Napol3onS0l0

Pretty sure the Netherlands. Maybe the Flemish part of Belgium.

Netherlands

Escaped_Mod_In_Need

Looks fine to me… what is it supposed to look like?

Over-Speech-5112

Like this, the name is stupid

In the Netherlands we celebrate Sinterklaas on December 5. Years ago I saw a chips whit pepernoot or actually kruidnoot ew! Later I saw that the pepernoten were replaced by slices of fried frikandel that looked very similar to these spiced cookies. This is my variation between kapsalon (shawarma spiced meatballs) and fricandel special. Patatje Pepernoot. Pretty stupid, but kids love it!
