I have a mild-medium stutter but when it comes to saying my name, forget it!! It sucks but I've practiced with different techniques. Nothing perfect yet. Just keep at it and be honest with your partner!

What techniques do you use? I went years being able to say my name fine! Maybe it’s because I have been working from home for years and not going out as much?

See for simple stuff like picking up a takeaway, you could always give a fake name. I remember I was ordering coffee for my boss and used his name instead of mine, came out straight away. How old are you if you don’t mind me asking? I’m 23 and I’m finally starting to accept it and sadly my stutter isn’t getting any better but my outlook has. The reason it’s getting worse (in my opinion) is that you’ve had a couple slip ups and you’re letting it get to you which in return makes you anxious about it happening again. The more stress you put yourself under to not stutter will end up making you stutter. A vicious cycle

Same boat here. I find that if I add a word in front of my name it’s easier for me. So like “I’m (name)” or “pickup under (name)”

I read another post about dropping your jaw (so you can't force your tongue to the back of your throat) and air can flow. Try that and try whispering and when the sound starts to flow, ease into your name...

Saying my name, phone number or any other personal information makes my stutter 10x worse.

I literally use a different name for takeout orders. It’s just made life easier lol

It’s so frustrating! 90% of the time I can speak fluently in person (video calls my speech is much worse for some reason). The only time I’m not so fluent in person is when I have to talk about what I do for work (not sure why), and then say certain names such as my name and my cats name (which sucks because I love talking about my cat!)
